MiniStumbler in .CAB format? - Networking

Has anyone got MiniStumbler in a .CAB format? I can only find the Windows executable that must be installed via a PC.
Thanks
Andy

no luck yet
thats all I could find too. fortunatley it installed fine on my Polaris/orbit 2/ however the internal network card does not appear to be supported. I was unable to get it to find my wireless card

I realize this is an old topic, but I recently was searching for a solution and came across this thread.
I got errors trying to run the executable, but found a way to extract the CAB files:
1. get 7-Zip
2. open the .exe (desktop installer)
3. browse to the folder "$1/MiniStumbler"
4. you will find several CAB files, just extract the appropriate CAB file and send it to your device.
P.S. MiniStumbler can't see my Verizon HTC Touch Pro2's wireless card...so anyone else with the same phone don't waste your time. WiFiFoFum works on it though.

Here's the MiniStumbler ARM/PPC CAB. Extracted as per mmiller7's directions

INSTALING .cab FILES!!!! HOW YOU DO IT...IM NEW TO THIS LOL

hi guys i recently posted a topic on o2 gprs probs. i have found the settings and downloaded them in .cab formatt. but how do i install them on to the fone or if not what folder do they need to be in?
i have placed them inthe ppc files directory and clicked to install bu it displays a message sayin they cant be installed.
cab files can be installed from any location
if they will not install maybe their are currupt
or for another cpu type then arm or xcale
i used the cab files from this forum. does anyone have the .cab files for XDA2 on o2 uk payg? would be a great help
here is where i got them. which 1 i need? and what i got to do wiv it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13498
done it lol, when i was dl the .cab file it displays on my PC as a winrar file so i was automatically extracting the files (all six of them lol), realy all i had to do was put the Downloaded file straight onto my XDA lol. dummm asss
i'm glad you got there in the end
...
Well the .cab files are the installation-packages for WinMobile. You need to transfer this .cab file direct to your device(or card) and via any file-exploring software start this .cab. The installation should be started. If you get an error, there can be few problems:
1.The .cab installation is for other processor type
2.or is it for a Smartphone device(PPC and SP are uncompatible(well WM5 has better compatibolity))
3.The .cab can be corrupted.
Now I want to say, that this direct in-device installation has some bad properties:
1. The .cab file is automatically deleted after installation(when your .cab isn't read-only)
2.The system install the software into a default folder only(\Program Files)-you cannot choose your own destination such as Storage,Storage Card etc..
This bugs solve this utility(below). I really recommend that.

extraxting a cab file from an exe file

in paticular i want the cab file for MorphGear. how do i do this? I have tried using cabinst but that doesnt seem to do anything
Some ".exe" are extractable with a soft such as "Winrar"
if that doesn't work then try the following.
1. Remove app from you computer and device
2. Disconnect device from comp
3. Run exe for app
4. When you see the message "this app will be installed on next sync" go to start---search
5. look for *.cab that was created or modified today and is less than 1MB (change file size to whatever value you think is appropriate)
Problem is..
I cant get activesync to work, hence needing the cab file to install morphgear :-(
So I dont think that will work
Any other ideas?

Can you install Activesync tho, dont have to sync just get it to install. If you can than run the morphgear.exe and after it says it will install on the next sync, go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Activesync\ and you will see a Marat folder, the .cab is in there. It will almost always make a new folder and put the .cab of the program you are install into the Activesync folder, if it is not there than it created its own folder under Program Files and the .cab should be in there.
Just because im bored I downloaded this MorphGear.exe
http://dl.filekicker.com/send/file/155967-7256/MaratSetupPPC2003.exe
And have attached the .cab that was put into my ActiveSync folder for you.
wow thanks that was very nice of you!
i checked that folder and there was about 10 different morphgear files that id been messing about with! And they worked! Well chuffed i am
Is anyone playing gameboy games on it? On the website listed in the first post the module (MaratSetupPPC2003.exe) leads to an invalid link. But i found it on xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=904167&postcount=5 i installed it but it only wants to see snes roms

issues installing S2U2

Okay it says its a cab. While I am very new to wm phones I have been able to install a ton of other cabs.
When I go to install this fist off it doesnt look like a cab it has the name and the windows flag and .rar as the extension.
When I click on it I get the following.
There is no application associated with "s2u2-0.3-WM5". Run the application first, then open this file within the application.
This is supposed to work with WM6 and I know others here have done it. I am just not so bright when it comes to this and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I tried just copying it into the windows folder but that didnt work either.
You have to extract the rar file to get the cab file inside for installation. Pls try again.
thanks
thanks mate works like a charm

Installing applications on phone...and T9 input .

I'm struggling... . I have my XDA hooked up to my Vista laptop and everything connects perfectly. Whilst browsing this site I found an iphone skin thing which looks quite impressive. I thought that I'd like to turn my XDA into an iphone so I'd download and install it... . Well, to be honest, I don't really know how to. Are there any idiot-proof guides out there for installing appliations...? I've downloaded the file to my desktop, tried copying it to my program files on my XDA (which works), but when I click on it, it just won't install. Is there some sort of file I need to click on specifically...? Is there a better way of getting this to work...?
Secondly I've been trying to find a T9 input thing. I hate having to use my stylus to send a quick SMS, and would love just to find something which replicates my phone's keypad on the screen, something I could use my fingers on, something on which I could type quickly. Does anyone have any suggestions...?
Thanks very much.
installing pocketpc applications can be don in many ways
2 most common is
1 a cab file which the user click on after transfering it to the pda
2 an exe file which requires to be run of the pc and it use the sync software to copy the cab file to the pda and run it
for t9 try doing a search for phonepad in the forum
not sure if it's compatible with old 2003 but you can give it a go
Thank you for your help! I downloaded this phone pad thing, extracted it from WinRAR to a folder on my desktop and had a look inside. There are no .exe files which I can run from my computer, and no .cab files which I could transfer to my PDA and run.
The first file is setup.xml and then it's a whole series of numbered files which Windows calls 001 file, 002 file, etc... . Any ideas about what I should be doing...? Thank you!

Rather than extract it, you might just want to check whether the phone pad thing itself isn't a .cab
i suspect it is think winrar can assi cabs with it iso files too so dont just look at the icon

HD2 cab install

hello guys, i dont own an hd2 yet but ill buy one this month but i have a question i want to add some cabs file on my device when i get. My question is i have download some cabs BUT when i open the winrar i dont get any cab file, all i get is some files that has bunch of numbers and one of them says "_setup.xml" so what should i do? should i directly put the winrar file on my hd2? since i dont get any cab file inside the winrar?? and if there's a cab file inside the winrar and i press the button "extract here" should i just upload the cab file only to my hd2 right??
Hope you guys can help me.
Thank you.
Hi.
A CAB file is a compressed installer file for mobile phones.
If you open it with winrar, you will see all the files it contains.
Just copy the original .cab file to your phone.
Click on the .cab file, and it will run the installer, and install the program on your phone.
You can choose to install to the main memory or the sd card.
Yeah - as above. What you're calling a "winrar" file is the cab file.
Extract a cab
Ok, I know this isn't the original question but...
is it possible to extract a .cab file - i mean to extract all the different files that make up the program , all the .exe .dll .ico etc etc. Wanting to do this to help me reverse-engineer a couple of omnia 2 cabs that don't work.

Tried that, all I get are 10 files. One of them is _setup.xml, the others are numbered files.
I've attached a screen capture of the files so you can see what they are.

Yes that's what you would expect as they are the cab install files.
If they don't mean anything are you sure you know what you're doing?
That's what I'm trying to find out. I assume that the WM program works in a similar way to windows program in that its a collection of files (exe, ico, dll, cfg so on so forth) that get installed in the appropriate places on the device. If so, how do you 'unpack' these files from the setup files
use a cab manager program. I don't so I can't recommend, but wincecab manager sound familiar. u can use them to create cabs of your tweaks, install files and such.
it seems that you have never used windows mobile (just copy the winrar file into the device and run it from the device)

I'm not trying to install a cab file (which the first post was about) I'm trying to decompile the omnia 2 video editor to get it to run on the HD2 but instead of starting a new thread, I asked on this one because it seemed (partially) relevant.
BTW, I've got the cab 'extracted' so thanks - no for the difficult part...
