ActiveSync slowing up Vodaphone V1605 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi, I have a user who's Vodaphone V1605 (Hermes) slows down to a snails pace when using it. If I get him to check the running programs the only thing running is activesync. Once we kill activesync the PPC speeds up again. If we do a Soft reset Activesync starts automatically.
Is there anyway to stop Activesync starting automatically?
I have searched the internet and cannot find any tweaks or hacks to do this as it is becoming quite annoying.

GPRS & RSU 6.24.00

I upgraded my TMO radio stack from 6.18.00 to 6.24.00 using files from yorch.net's Upgrade page. Process went smooth! 8) Phone & GPRS all running perfect. Using ROM 4.00.21.
Only problem was ActiveSync 3.7.1 didn't recognize partnership & would only connect as a Guest after the RSU. :? The fix: uninstall ActiveSync, restart Windows, reinstall ActiveSync and it detects new hardware & starts the create partnership wizard. Okay now.
Some GPRS stats after the RSU 6.24.00 install:
o I live in Austin, TX USA & I tested the internet connection via www.texan.net/speed.htm:
3:35pm CST 37.1Kbps
3:40pm CST 31.6Kbps
Clear IE History & Temp files
3:45pm CST 68Kbps
Held an incoming call, GPRS held, took call & resume testing - all as published. Clear History & Cookies again
3:55pm CST 51Kbps
Are these GPRS traffic numbers typical? Good ... high ... low?
Hope this helps y'all. 8)

Bizzare Hard Reboot after I hit Start

Hi,
Wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem.
I have purchased a SanDisk WiFi card so I can be properly mobile around the house (I ActiveSync with WiFi, browse the net and remote admin my network and servers from my XDA II) and up until now has been working a treat (if a little power hungry).
I noticed yesterday that the SanDisk WiFi was not being detected by my XDA II when I inserted it, the only way to recognise it is to reboot the XDA II which will then recognise it and active the WiFi.
I wanted to sync with my Exchange Server so I went through the usual routine of inserting the WiFi card, noticed it the XDA II did not pick up the card so rebooted (soft reset) the XDA II which then proceeded to connect to the Acitve Directory network and sync with the Exchange 2003 box. While it was synching in the background I decided to take a look at my schedule and hit the Start button however the XDA II slowed right down, the Start button appeared and froze and then in an instant the XDA II had hard reset itself displaying the Welcome to Windows Mobile 2003 setup screen... WTF?!
I have never seen this before, good thing I had backed up device so I only lost two days of work but it's a little scary to say the least (I am now taking backups daily). I am not sure if its to do with the WiFi card (the fact that its not being recognised when hot plugging into the SD slot) or with the apps that are installed on my XDA II.
My current config is as follows:
Windows 2003 Mobile Premium Phone Edition
O2 Active User Interface (I kept this as I use O2 for my phone)
SPB Plus 2.01 (Today Plugin removed as it crashes the XDA II)
Pocket Informant 5.2
Microsoft Voice Commander
Pocket Weather (freeware weather app for the today screen)
Bluetooth Profile removed from the Today Screen
ROM Version: 1.72.00WWE
ROM date: 03/15/04
Radio version: 1.17.00
Protocol version: 1337.28
ExtROM version: 1.72.181
Cheers,
Taz
Well I don't have to worry about crashes any more, I cooked my own Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition ROM using DCS & Mysteryman's files and now everything is working perfectly about 10 times faster than before

Mail2Web/Activesync problems

I have a Cingular 8125 (upgraded to ROM 2.17.7.2 WWE, radio version 02.07.10, protocol version 413.1.03). Starting last night, it started connecting to my Mail2Web account and wirelessly activesyncing. Every time I turn the radio on, it tries to sync, but it takes FOREVER and bogs down the device to the point of being unable to use it. Does anybody have any suggestions so I can actually use my phone? Thanks all!

O2 XDA Orbit GPRS and WiFi issue!

Hello
I have posted this on the Artemis board, but got no reply.....
I have an O2 XDA Orbit that uses Push Email and exchange server syncing. Recently I have noticed that if I turn flight mode on at night and then off in the morning, it requires a soft reset to get the system to sync my email and calendar via GPRS. Up to a month ago this was not an issue and it has manifested itself on both WM5 and WM6. The server is running on 2003, but was upgraded to 2007 (at which point all fell down!!). Server was rebuilt with original 2003 settings and it works, but I get this niggly problem in the mornings when trying to sync on my way into work. Reception is good, but the GPRS will not open a session until the phone has been reset.
The following information is taken from the device:
ROM version - 3.4.206.2 WWE
ROM Date - 18/4/2007
Radio Version - 02.67.90
Protocol Version - 4.1.13.28
ExtROM Version - 3.4.206.101
The irritation with the WiFi is that the option to close a WiFi session from the top bar on the screen has been removed and now you need to go into the Comms Manager to close a session.....anyone worked out a way of retrieving the old functionality?

Fucawi

WiFi issue

Hi all,
For some reason my HD2 has lost it's WiFi functionality. I can happily connect to wifi hotspots, both public and private, I can also get a fresh IP address, but when I go to access data off the connection it fails.
The system is:
- OS version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
- Manilla version: 2.5.19211619.0
- ROM version: 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
- Unlocked phone
I have attached some screenshots of:
- IE failing to run
- ActieSync failing to run
- Opera failing to run
- WiFi connections screen 1 (showing an active WiFi connection)
- WiFi connections screen 2 (showing IP address assigned)
I have BsB Tweaks installed, but the issue happens regardless of "Wifi N" being on or off.
I checked the suggestions made for another poster on this forum (ursika) but this made no difference.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
BGM
Having the total same problem with you dude. Anyone mind to help out?? =[
Me 3.
(but only recently, since last ROM flash I'm guessing, but only just got round to noticing it)
Did you ever find a solution? Trying to avoid an unnecessary hard reset.
Not sure if its the same problem but try this thread...........
Hope that helps........
Not sure how it happened or what triggered it, but following the advice on that thread (i.e. re-setting the wi-fi cards to have server assigned IP addresses) seems to have fixed my issue thanks!
