I just installed the aus version of the Dopod Wm6... everything was working fine all day, then the memory card slot died this afternoon. I have reflashed with asian Dopod rom however the slot still isnt working.
I have tried 2 cards, a Nokia 64mb and my Sandisk 2gb. Both work fine in my pc, so I dont think its a card issue. The phone detects the cards being inserted as it brings the backlight back on.
I'll try flashing back to Dopod WM5 and see if it fixes it... will post any progress

I upgraded the 8125 ROM to 2.25.11.1 WWE from the HTC site per Cingular's instructions. Now my mini SD card causes the phone to lock up whenever I store anything on the card. The SD card worked fine with my previous version of the ROM. I have performed a hard reset and reloaded the ROM to no avail. I must either not use the SD card or perform soft resets constantly. The SD card is a Sandisk 256k Mini SD card.
Thank you for any help on this.
Not much use is it ? Maybe try a different rom or go back to your previous one. It seems unlikely to be a bug in the system that doesnt get on with 256meg sandisk cards or there would be lots of people having problems. Maybe your card has fried ? Is there any chance of trying it in another phone ?
Actually, I've got two 256k Sandisk cards, one which is new and the result is the same. I think it only locks up when I read from the card - view a pic or read an email. I wondered if Cingular had done this in the new ROM intentionally. It worked with the old ROM which came on the phone. I don't have a copy of that or I'd try it. I will try to find another phone with the new ROM.
I have also purchased a kingston 2gb card for my jasjar but after formatting it and installing softwares on it , workedfine but after two days my software on the card automatically got deleted by themselves and video mpeg files got corrupted , i went to the vendor and changed the card by sandisk and still with it also the problem is there i have again changed that with another sandisk and now i have even hard reseted my set and formatted the card by changing its file sys to fat32 from fat but after some days it shows its file sys as raw and start creating problem can anybody help
I don't think it's the SD Cards that has the problem. It must be your Universal creating the problem. You already tried 3 different cards and you got the same results.
I only bought one 2 GB Sandisk card and I have been using it on my Universal for almost a year now without problems.
i dont think so that theres a problem with my jasjar as for last 3 months i was using a 1 gb sd card of ncp and it was working fine with it now i have even restored my activesync 4.2 to 4.1 but still there seems to be a problem , but what it is i m not able to understand it coz i thats also right that 3 cards of two diffrent companies can also not be faulty but still they are causing the same problem of data loss .
plz help and thanks for ur quick reply.

thanks for ur reply but i have tried my first card without format only and it showed me a problem then the vendor told me to format and use , second thing is as the file sys was earlier fat for the card i formatted it and changed to fat32 but i have noticed whenever the data corrupts it changes its file sys to raw automatically by itself . All,
I have a 2gb Sandisk Mini SD Card in my Qtek 9100 and up until today its been working fine. However my Qtek started to behave strange today and suddenly would connect to my pc via ActiveSynch nor could it read the sd card.
Well in fear of loosing all my stuff on the sd card I tried in other phones, on another pc, in my camera....jsut to save it but I couldnt.
I ended up doing a hard reset of the Qtek since I couldnt solve the ActiveSynch issue and now its up and running.
BUT.....my SD card is only on 1gb now. :-( So what can be done ? Format it....yup but I dont have any program to do it with....
Help help help....the next step is to send the sd card back to the company I bought it from but then I'll have to wait for a new one
Please help
Jakob
Well I have just formattet the storage card with StorageTools and when I have the card in my qtek it shows 1gb
But if I put it in my camera and then connect it to my pc I see 2gb....
i had problems on my card and formated using wm5torage from the desktop...and it is working flawlessly, i suggest to do that...but usually that size problems happen in fake cards...do u filled the card some time or at least passed the 1gb limit?
After using my vario 2 for a while the mem card becomes unusable.
It's shows no free space at all. I have a 1 gb memory that came with my t-mob vario 2.
My mp3 ring tone doesn't work anymore. I have to remove and reinsert the memory card or soft reset the device.
Radio 1.20.31.10
Rom: 1.21.114.3
Any idea's what could be the problem?
Thanks
The smilar problem occured with one of my XDA-II (Himaliya), Even though I have hard reseted the device. Finnaly I have backuped the card through the pc and format the card (on PC) and it wasn't working, even though I have tried 3 other cards and they were working absolutely fine with the device. What I did was to leave the card inside the device for overnight and it was recognisable in the morning, then I took out the card from the device to put the data back from the PC and once I have put the card back in the device the card wasn't recognisable again, So finaly I left the card again in the device overnight and it was recognisable again, then I left the card in the device and put the data back through the syncronisation.
I haven't taken out the card since then because I know there is some recognising problem between the device & the card, its working since then.
My Advice is : To check another card and if that would work then try to sell your current card and buy another.
My advice 02: Try to backup your device, leave the card inside the device and HARD Reset the device & once the device will install newly it should configure the card as well.
I have got very usefull software "storagetools" (trial) by which you can scan, format & defrag the card, you can try it.
GoodLuck

Use chkdsk on the PC to check your storage card (instead of any PPC-based software, including Storage Tools). I also recommend the thread at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=39583 on all these q's.
On a related issue concerning problems with microSD cards and the TyTn, I have a problem which I hope you can help me with:
I have a new TyTn (ROM Ver. 1.18.255.3) with a 512mb miniSD card. In the course of my usual usage, the device hanged and after a few minutes of unresponsiveness, I reset the device using the reset button. When it rebooted, the card is no longer recognized by the phone. I used a card reader and WinXP and Mac OSX cannot also recognize it. If I try to format it (XP), XP says that the card cannot be formatted. I tried using it in my Samsung D820 and it cannot also be formatted. I then concluded that the card was defective and bought a new one (512mb).
After using the new card for a week, my TyTn hanged while accessing a program installed in the card. Again after a few minutes of unresponsiveness, I rebooted the phone using the reboot button. When the device booted-- Bam!!! the card can no longer be recognized by my phone! Windows and Mac OSX cannot mount it. I tried the unrecognized card in my Samsung D820 and it is recognized! I inserted the miniSD card (128mb) originally in my D820 in my TyTn and it is recognized/read by the TyTn. I formatted the defective card in the D820 and copied a few files in it and the D820 can read those files but my TyTn can't! I tried the other 128mb card on my TyTn, formatted it and copied files into it and everything's fine.
How come then that the 512mb card can be read by my Samsung phone and not by the TyTn? My TyTn is certainly not defective because It can access the 128mb card that was originally in my D820. As I stated earlier, I have already formatted the 512mb card in my Samsung phone and have transferred files into it (The Samsung phone can read the files written on it).
I have re-inserted the 512mb card numerous times in my TyTn to no avail. I have also rebooted my TyTn several times and still it cannot recognize/read the 512mb card. I am now using the 128mb card that I originally use in my Samsung D820.
If it can help, I have enabled and unlocked my TyTn's extended ROM. I have a few programs that are installed in my Ext ROM.
Thanks!
Similar card problem
I recently purchased the T Mobile MDA Vario2 with the CoPilot 6 software. worked fine for about a week and then the CoPilot software which was running from the memory card started to hang intermittently. The first couple of times a soft reset cured it. Then after about the third soft reset, the memory card was no longer recognised. Tried reading the card via my pc and that couldn't recognise it either.
Took both the phone and card back to T Mobile where a new card was tried, this was recognised immediately so I now have to take the whole CoPilot package back to be replaced.
I have also just orderd a new 1GB sandisk card from Amazon and am now concerned that this is going to be a repeating issue. I wonder how many other owners have had this problem and if it is actually a fault with the Vario2 or wether I have just been unlucky with a dodgy memory card.
Would appreciate other thoughts on this.
Cheers
Matt
I think that enabling the "Advance network functionality" causes the corruption of memory cards.

Because when I enabled it, the corruption started.

Guys,
I have use my BA w/ several roms from WM6.0 to WM6.1 but suddently about a week ago, my phone is 'freezed' and need to be hard reset...and since then my storage card is NOT idenfitied. It said no storage card detected eventhough the MMC is there.
Any idea why?
did this problem occured with 2003 rom, have you tryed your MMC/SD card in card reader ?
never tried in in 2003 rom since i went to 6.1 rom ...was OK when i use it in 2003 rom
well i tried in my card reader and sait it need to be formatted...that might be the problem, isn't it?
Format the card in the card reader and this will solve your problem
