Wired Stereo Headsets - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Is there a special type of wired headset that I need to get for my Wizard 8125. I went to BestBuy and bought a bodyglove pair of earplugs and mic. They were ver comfortable and had the 2.5mm plug. When I plugged it in I only heard sound from the right ear. I also tried a cheap pair at BB and it was the same right ear. I came home to get my original ear plugs (very uncomfortable) worked fine in both ears.
Redneck

yeah, i've noticed that not all stereo wired headphones work...lotsa times i only get sound from one ear...only ones that work seem to be one that came with the phone.
didn't examine the headphones, since i haven't been using them for a while, but with other cell phone earpieces...there are usually 2 or 3 rings around the connecting piece...i think it makes a difference, since it appeared that my manager had problems when she bought a pair off the dollar store...wouldn't be recognized in her samsung.
if you find any that work, let the community know.

8125 Audio Output Jack Problems?

I recently have gone through two different Body Glove Sport Stereo headphones with some issues. I can't decide if I have another faulty headset or if the phone audio connector is the issue. The body glove headset is similar to the headset that comes with the 8125, but it looked more comfortable.
The problem I am having is this, the headphones only play in the right side. Messing with the plug on the headset results in some quick burst of audio on the left side and pulling it out a tad gives me some faint left audio and the right side audio goes out completely. It seems the plug and jack don't quite jive... anyone else experience this? It comes with an adapter for the "bigger jack" and upon trying one of my girls iPods, they work fine with the adapter in the mix.
My application is this... I listen to MP3's while riding my motorcycle and the earphones that came with the phone hurt my ears after a while. Plus they don't have the greatest audio quality. Looking for a comfy replacement, but the above issue has me scratcing my head.
Here is a link to the headphones: here
i think...
i think you have the wrong adapter. i tried using the slvrs adapter with my 8125 and it did not work same prob as you. i went to radioshack and got one from there and it did. im most absolutely sure is the inner wiring. what happens is that there's also a connection for a microphone on the 8125 so some adapters dont work.
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Cingular_8125-559~area~accessories~item~PPCPADPT21.htm
ps my friend got a mono one at radio shack and it worked for him both sides. hes not a audiophile but you get the idea, it has to be the connection of your plug.
The headphones in addition to be being stereo, have the microphone too, I think the paragraph in the page you linked clears up a few questions for me:
Most manufacturers create their devices allowing audio compatibility with only their specific brand headset or headphones. We have designed and engineered several different types of audio adapters to accommodate a variety of devices. Our unique audio adapters give you the freedom to use any standard 2.5/3.5 mm. 3 conductor headset and/or your favorite set of headphones.

It would seem although the Body Glove headset uses the 2.5mm jack, the internals of the 8125 are off enough that a select few aftermarket stereo headsets with mics will work with the phone. Interesting.
Upon further examination of the jack, it is different than the one that came with the phone. In spite of the BodyGlove being a stereo headet with a mic... just like the one that comes with the phone, the connector is different enough to not with aftermarket stuff I guess. Those dirty rascals!!!
The connector on the left is the one that comes with the 8125, the one on the right is the BodyGlove.
Searched and found this old thread. I went to connect my 8125 Wizard to my cars 3.5 jack using a standard adapter and it only came left channel.
Is there a more cost effective proprietary four-conductor jack to a 3.5 mm converter than posted above at PPC Techs? I was hoping to spend a few dollars.
I'm actually using my old Ngages audio cable to get Stereo sound out of my car stereo. It works but sometimes I can't use the mic on the cell phone to talk.
When it works it's really cool, but otherwise I gotta unplug the cable and use it like a regular phone during phone calls.

wired headset?

Hi chaps,
Do you have any suggestion for a wired compact headset to take phone calls?
I got a bt but its not always on and when I get a call, I dont want everybody around me to hear the conversation but when i pop in a 3.5mm stereo headphone, the microphone stops working
I cant find a combo in-ear headphone microphone thingi with one 3.5mm jack or a mini usb headset... so any suggestions?
What about the original one in the package?
You can leave your device in the pocket and accept or quit phonecalls.
You can set the volume of the incoming call to lowest with the slider left to the navi-stick, then other people do not hear your calls if you are 2-3 meters away.
I'd like to know a wired headset which shows the caller-ID in the microphone case, like the old sony walkman with the display on the wire, showing actual song and volume. The 3.5 jack will not support this, i know.
yeah you can just leave any 3.5mm headphones pluggged in, as long as they are plugged in before the phone comes in you can use the inbuit microphone.
The device still rings, so you just put the buds in your ears and answer.
This is what I do with my senseinhers.
I'd like a decent replacement corded set, don't like the sound quality from BT ones I've tried.
Had a USB one from gpsforless that you can plug your own headphones in just past the mic, but it wasn't well built and lasted about 3 weeks.
I bought this one for use in the car while plugged into my AUX in on the car stereo.

It works great with the Athena, there are a bunch of different types on ebay, just search for "Tytn Adapter" and you will find a bunch.
Pretty much any HTC Extended USB based adapter will work with the Athena.
Good Luck

I don't have such a problem with the original wired headset. The sound is excellent in both WM5 and WM6.
My wired headphones died pretty quickly, so now I use a pair of sennseisher buds, the microphone on the athena works when using standard earbuds, so although not hands free, it is at least a bit more private.
I like this from PPC Techs.
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main.asp?unit=HTC_Advantage-895&area=accessories&item=PPCPADPT17
It gives you both 2.5mm and 3.5mm output so you can have your headphones in one plug and the headset in the other.
They have another adapter that goes from the USB for the same purpose but I don't have that one.

Tilt and wired 2.5 mm headset

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer at times to use a cheap 2.5mm headset with my phone. Don't have to worry about charging it and don't have to worry about losing it either.
Well, I got an HTC adapter from a friend with a Mogul that connects to the Tilt (it fits) and splits into a 2.5mm and mini-usb jack. All was fine until recently when people started telling me that they were having trouble hearing me, and one who told me to take them off speaker. I just did a test by calling my voicemail and putting the phone in a closed drawer. The voicemail was empty, so obviously, the microphone on the headset wasn't being used - it was using the mic on the phone instead. Is this the way it is supposed to work or do I have either a defective Tilt or a defective adapter?
Thanks,
Koj
You tried a different headset? I have had real problems with wired headsets having crappy microphones.
Yes - I tried three headsets already. The problem is that the mic does not pick up at all. Test it out - I blow on the headset's mic and the other person hears nothing. I blow on the phone's mic, and they hear it.
Strange

Bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter

Any tips on which one is best? Trying to wirelessly send music to car speakers via the audio jack...
Thank you
you can look up the Motorla T505 - It is bluetooth and transmits to your car stereo using Powerful FM Transmitter. Mutes music when you get a call and resumes after. Calls come through car stereo as well. Or if you want check out jabra stereo headphones = I know that there are a few that have Headphone jacks out. My Jabra Bt320 would do what you are looking for or there is a Jabra stereo headphone set that looks like dog tags with headphone jack out as well. (Wish I would have foun that before I bought the Bt320 )

u can try the Motorola S705. It allows u to attach any 3.5mm jack to the unit. I have been using it for awhile and it works pretty good.
This sounds like a good idea. But, I often go the cheap route on devices like this. I shop at this website DealExtreme and they have a device like this for $20. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8098 I saw some reviews on it that says the range sucks... it's like 10 feet or something but if I'm in my car with it, what does it matter. Anyways, that site rocks. There is a replacement battery on there for the Kaiser for like $7. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15833
I personally use the iTech Clip (S38 I think...) i'd have to double check. I ordered it from ebay thought and it works pretty well. It was around $50 for me with shipping. The only complaint is the music sounds just a touch muffled when compared to listening through wired head phones. But you really don't noticed it unless you are doing a comparo.
I use mine all the time for when I go running and it works well.
plantronics 855
the plantronics 855 is a really nice stereo bluetooth headset. I got mine for $45 on sale, I think it goes for around $40 new on ebay. With a 3.5mm headphone jack part (radio shack $2), some wire (radio shack $3), a small amount of dremeling and some soldering you can turn it into a really small bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter with really great sound. (im using bose-in ear headphones and the sound quality is really good). I did it with mine and I love it. If you want instructions PM me.
If you just want to buy something then sony makes a really nice one, its like $100 but the sound quality has to be great.
Also make sure you do the A2DP hack to your phone (it's really just a reg edit in cab form):
View attachment A2DP_BT_Hack.zip
Sony Ericsson HBH-DS205 or DS220.
Generally rated very good -but some report brief transfer interruptions happening every minute or so. They come with a headset included, but thats connected to the unit via a 3.5 mm plug. I found one for a decent price on Ebay.
Waiting for my S705

I just purchased the S705 on Amazon. What I liked was that it could charge while it was working as a bluetooth receiver. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a hard on/off switch. I would much prefer to be able to leave the switch on all the time so that as soon as I enter my car and turn the car on, the S705 would connect to my phone.
As it is, I accept the limitation as it might be better all around that I have to turn the thing off rather than have it wasting it's charge every time I turn off the car.
Iv just bought a jabra 3030 dogtagbluetooth headset which has a 3.5mm audio jack on it so you could put it in a cup holder and buy a small 3.5mm audio jack cable to plug into the radio, I will test it out when mines delivered if you want ?
Hi I got my BT3030 today and must say it is amazing works great with tytn ii, sterio audio goes through aswell and a 3.5mm jack on the side so you can plug it into any form of audio output!
Sound quality is the best Iv ever heard from a bluetooth device and is allmost as good as my 5.1 at home
Only £30 from expansys if you get the £10 off from madoca or whatever it is.
I am still shopping for a solution but found this one while looking. Haven't tried any yet, thanks to all who posted suggestions.

Kaiser Headset which works?

Hi,
I just refund the RC w100, which I bought two wheeks ago and which is not working on all the new roms.
I like to buy a headset for listening music in the gym.
I like to buy one, which is 100% working on ALL the newer roms. It do not have to had a remote, it just have to work fine.
It could be a whole headset or just the adapter to plugin usual headphones.
I would prefer the second choice.
Can you please send me a Link of a product,so that I can order it on ebay?
What do you think of bluetooth headsets. Are they better for just listening music? It have to be stero...
It do not have to be something special, it just have to work. I do not like to make any more refunds...
Thank you for your advices,
Master

I am using a Motorola S9 stereo bluetooth headset for listening to music. I have even used this under my helmet on motorcycle rides. You can control music, next/previous/pause, volume up/down/mute with the headset controls. When you get a call, the music automatically pauses and one speaker acts as a microphone (?), when the call is done, the music starts again.
There are a lot of them on eBay, search for 'Motorola S9', they go from $15-$40 USD.
I also have a 3-in-1 adapter like this one : eBay Item # 270447310297
It plugs into the htc jack and lets you connect an htc headset, usb connection, and a 3.5mm stero plug for connecting regular headsets. I use this on place with a set of noise-canceling headphones, works great, but a little more to carry. I have also seen more streamlined adapters on eBay for connecting a headset with 3.5mm plug to the htc phones, like this one: eBay item #260438648187 and #280399218984
Hi,
I just ordered the Jabra BT3030 for 32 USD on Ebay.
Thank you for your advice
using a BT headset isn't draining too much the battery?
I definitly need an adapter for normal 3.5mm jack headsets that works, I once bought on ebay one for a motorola razr phone, but audio was too low, can you confirm those adapters do give high enough audio levels from the kaiser?

I just purchased this adapter (Item# 400080682350) on the bay and almost have to turn the volume down as low as it can go, works great.
I've used the 2nd & 3rd adapters that JJHiemenz listed from off of Ebay. The 2nd one got a short after a while, and the 3rd one works Great because up to now I still use it on my TILT. Better investment if U ask me.

I bought two of these objects and then discovered it was a set of three, so I have SIX adapters now very cheap and very well working, so, being them so small, I took one at office, one in the bag, one at the desk and so on
Jabra BT620s
Jabra BT620s is highly recommended, and pretty affordable. Pairs quickly and easily and works reliably with A2DP on my Kaiser. Just don't try to do heavy WiFi surfing and Bluetooth listening at the same time, it can't handle it
I've got the Motorola S9 and its been working great for almost a year now with many different ROMs. Got mine off ebay, but look out for the chinese ripoffs, the work for a little bit then crap out (learned the hard way).
the solusion is
Jabra BT3030, Jabra BT3030 Rules!
