Yeah, that's a very popular program for a lot of people here.
Been about a week now since I've discovered Orb. Pretty kick ass indeed. But then again, couldn't iPhone users use Orb as well?
This must be the same guy that after driving from NY to FL he realized his turn signal was still on from when he left his house in NY.

Hehe.... nice. I think for that to ring true, he'd have to be 70+ years old and drive a Cadillac with a clothes bar hanging in the back seat.
And to ThaiM; iPhone users could use it, but they wouldn't. (hint: It doesn't have any flippy, dazzly GUI to poke at)

Yes sorry, but ORB is almost legendary (in a good way) I dont use it though I LOVE my SLINGBOX!!!
Orb is great, I just don't like tha, as far as i know, my pc has to do all the work.
I have a dedicated orb server running im my closet, 24/7/365.25. Its an old little thing, but it handles music well, but not videos.
Fortunatley my connections, upload atleast, is good. Almost 1/mbit second.
It (orb) does lack a few things though.
Internet Radio shouldn't need a pc to be used, and it lacks SuperAdmin settins IMHO.
But you are right. It's a great program. EASY to use.
I have tried to use it as XM Radio in my car, sorta kinda works.

i have been using orb and it works great... but do have an issue with it.. i went and created several playlists.. when i play them it will go through the first song, and maybe the 2nd, but then it flips out and starts playing random tracks and wont play them for any longer than a minute... if i play the tracks individually then there isnt a problem.. has anyone experienced this??

That function is built into ORB.
In preferences go to the setting for "play tunes with a minus rating" and tick the box.
You'll find that your Box Car Willie and Jim Reeves, Albums to Die For collection, will now play in sequence.
Please note that this change will not stick after reset unless you carry out a warranty voiding ROM downgrade.
This was was a Health and Safety requirement insisted on by HTC who wished to protect their staff who might accidentally use ORB when devices were sent for repair.

What device / media player are you talking about?
If it's Windows Mobile 5 media player there is a known bug that prevents it from skipping correctly to the next song. Use TCPMP instead (You'll find other posts about it on the forums).
Apart from that I don't know of any problem playing a folder, just browse to that folder and click "play all" on a phone or on pc click the play button without selecting any song.

Even if the cab was released, I'm pretty sure it checks your phone number anyway, considering the way the browser works is completely server side.
Here is your cab and all I did was use the search function... You should try it!!!! 10th tab from the left and 3rd from the right!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378549
As mentioned above, you need to be registered for the beta and they are the ones that allow you to use it.
i'm near fed up with the skyfire beta.
i signed up January 28 (day ONE!) at about 3pm, and still have not receieved an invitation to the beta. They claim to be going first-come, first-serve, but if that's the case, a hell-of-a-lot of people signed up within hours of hearing about it.
They just sent me an update email, saying they'll try to get everyone in Beta 1 by the end of April.
Also, I see no reason to be fed up, considering they're providing you this service. They don't actually owe you anything, let's remember.

ummmm...... yea what he say
he really does have a point tho
Ive had the software for a little over 2 weeks now and unfortunetely im extremely unimpressed. The software is incredibly slow on my mogul. The only plus side I have to using this software is to watch you tube videos which Core Player already does in a much easier to usse interface. I'll get back to it once Beta 2 rolls around.
i also signed up on the first day and just got invited to use it a few days ago. i wouldn't worry too much, as mentioned before its really not that good. picture this... remote desktop on someone elses server, with sound, thats it. Its no opera mini, but its coming along slowly. Honestly its really not worth waiting for until version 1.0, and their on .5 still.
I got my invite about a week ago. And btw, i am from Finland. So they now allow non-us people too.
I love it. It's slow to browse but:
- Internet map-services work! A local one has sharper satellite pictures
- I can wach CNETTV.com! Picture isnt that good but audio comes always clear. (it also saves the zoom location on bookmarks. So i just click the bookmark and watch)
- Internet radio stations work! The ones that are flash. (like http://www.finetune.com/wii/ )
- I noticed that it also has atleast .wmv plugin installed on the server-side. So you can play direct-video links too.
I've had it for about 2 weeks, and I think it definitely will be the best browser when all the bugs are worked out. It can render basically any page on the internet perfectly. If you go to Youtube, for instance, it looks as if you went there in IE or Firefox on your regular computer. All of the flash stuff works. Google maps? Yes, you can use street view mode, and it's pretty snappy too.
It has two modes for touch input, which I will call cursor mode and hand mode (that's what the icons look like). This way, you can decide if you want to pan the entire webpage with hand mode or if you want to interact directly with a zoomed in flash applet with the cursor mode.
I signed up for the beta a few months back.

Ive seen it for both the droid and the (stupid POS) iphone, theres gotta be a scanner for windows mobile, anyone seen anything?
you mean something like trapster? http://www.trapster.com/
Jeyo Wunder Radio aggregates scanner feeds from ScanAmerica.us., RadioTime and others.
I myself bypassed the third party applications and copied the asx files to the respective internet streams I wished to listen in on. . .and execute them with the appropriate media player.
Whenever I want to listen to the police feed for example, I simply click on a shortcut in my start menu and within seconds - I'm tuned in.
I had to do this since my towns radio system switched over to digital and apco25 scanners are a bit on the expensive side right now. . .hope it helps.
Scan America is great. That's what I use. Do what surroundedbydrones said and just save the asx files to your device.
How do you save the asx files? When I go to scan america it's an MP3 file that will not download because it's being streamed live. Therefore, I cannot listen to the feeds...
Maybe they changed something. You need to do it from your phone fyi. MP3 isn't a streaming format though so...
Police App for hd2
im STILL looking 4 an app for police scanning in Tucson, Arizona as well ......

I have been trying this out. It is great. Really good site. Let's you have several methods to streaming the audio live.
I recommend this for anyone looking for a scanner concept. Until there is an app for this out there for your phone's model in particular, this seems to be the best way to go. If you are having trouble accessing streams with your browser on your phone, just try using Skyfire browser. It is the best to view tricky sites.
If you can get a .pls or .m3u for your local PD/FD/EMS, you can stream it in coreplayer. If you got coreplayer, try this file Ive attached. Its for the Massachusetts State Police. I listen to this when I drive to work so I know where they at lol.

Police Scanning on TP2/WinMo
Great thread with cool tips- I have been listening to Seattle Police on my TP2 for months just using IE. To find the feed, I just did a search on Seattle Police Scanner and came up with a link to a local TV/Radio station that streams live emergency frequencies. My suggestion, if you are unable to find the feed on the site listed in the previous posts, is to do a google search for "city/state police scanner" or similar search terms.

XITruthiX, use Seattle Rat's method and grab the mms://, rtsp:// or http:// address from your cities website and plug it into either core player or the streaming media app. For instance, mms://video.whdh.com/live is for my local news in Boston,MA. I stream it in Streaming Media.
Nevermind.. already answered.
I saved the .m3u shortcuts as above, installed GSPlayer, associated the m3u files with GSPlayer, created a shortcut and it works great as a single click option without using an Internet Browser.
Is it possible to add a side scroll or letter scroll to the SENSE music player? I know the contacts has a scroll, it is dreadful to flick all the way down to my songs that start with W's and Z's.
Omg +1 on this, I was just telling the wifey (who also has a modded HD2, thanks NRG) that I wish HTC had included this feature, since Tmo is pushing it as an entertainment device they should assume that people will be putting their music on it and it blows big time b/c I have roughly 700 songs and if I want a anything in the higher letters I have to scroll and scroll and scroll.
I would love to see if someone could make this happen.
+1 for this.
I love HTC sense music player, but this is the one thing missing for me.
It can take quite a few flicks of the finger to scroll through the artists (1300 songs).
Please can someone help
me to
on another note does anyone know how to add a quick link to the htc music player?
+1 for this
i roughly got 1600 songs on the device so searching for a songs frustrates my ass off
Damn i would love this feature soo much. Its always a mess to get to the end this loooooong list. Think it might be possible for our developers but dont know if anybody is interested in programming this as many of them dont use the Sense Player at all but instead Mort Player, PocketPlayer etc. But as the Sense Player offers everything i need, has no bugs (at least for me) and integrates very well i dont want nothing else... except THIS feature
+1

I have the same problem and also needed answers! After much research, some people suggested backing up the memory card, formatting it appropriately and then making sure the music was placed in folders (like tracks of one album in a folder) to essentially make it so that not all tracks were in one folder. It has also been suggested to put all tracks on the root of the card, kind of contradicting the previous suggestion. I haven't tried any of these methods yet but what I found a couple of people claimed to work is converting the mp3's to wma. We shouldnt have to do this, supposingly it works, but again I have yet to try this!
bump...SOMEONE MAKE THIS so I CAN HAVE IT! GRR! it must be possible come onn!
great idea for a slider. this must be possable.....right?
id rather have the alphabet slider like in the contacts list in my music player instead...it seriously sucks having to slide manually through thousands of songs...GRR someone please make this for us! I will thank you eternally :]
Yeah this thread fell back a while but nice to see there is still interest. Yes at the very least a slider would be nice but the slider from contacts is perfect. I wonder how hard it would be to transfer over?
1+ for the idea!!!!and also could be good to change the "Purchased" tab in the library for "latest additions" for example, because this tab is useless and it would be easier to find the music!!!!

Yes, it's a serious question. I saw this posted in a WinMo forum:
"If it's a custom app you could get the app to set the sensitivity of the screen in the registry to zero. That should do it. I've not been able to find anything existing though. Not even on Codeproject, which usually has unusual stuff like that. I suspect the Compact Framework doesn't support it so the registry is your best bet."
I'm sure it's possible...just out of my realm. Hell, if someone can make the End Call button disappear to avoid Face Hang Ups, I'm sure someone else could make this happen.

android doesn't have a registry like winmo, ive never heard of anybody being able to disable the touchscreen, nor want to do it in the first place. sorry....
Good idea, but would probably be most practical to have built into a video player app. An Android VLC player would make my year...maybe after DIVX starts hitting more Android handsets this year more versatile players will show up.
the problem with media players is the have to run in a java VM instead of nativley.

Android has a Native development kit available so you can run native C++ code. There is a topic over at the VLC site talking about getting someone to do this - but its REALLY difficult to do it. I thought about it, but I have 0 experience with Media software.
It's my understanding the NDK is a joke a this point. The guys at Coreplayer have been trying to get a full functioning media player for months.

Probably going to have to end up doing what I did with my kid: Tell her if she touches the phone the movie will end...then take it away for the day. Try again the next day. After a day or two she'll get the point. We also found a good spot on a table and in the car to set the phone and told the rugrat not to touch it if he wanted to see the movie. My kid's 8, so that worked. Not sure if you'll have the same results.
Not quite what you're looking I know, but...probably the best you'll get: Train the kid to leave it alone

That is the only way I see it as possible. Android has several running levels for programs. I don't think it is possible for a backgrounded app to take over any functionality of the touchscreen.
Someone would have to write a custom player that doesn't respond to the screen.
For example there is a toddler game app (can't remember the name) that you can only exit by touching a combination of points on the screen. Writing this idea into a kid's player would be a cool app idea.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it does not have TV out... Unless its hidden deep in the hardware somewhere, like the Nexus One had the FM tuner that modders were eventually able to find, access, and use.

But that's DNLA, not a cable too
How can we get "Locations"?
its the same phone. and the commercial does clearly state that if you tv isnt dnla compatable, its ok cuz you can use htc media link. it shows the phone with a wire plugged in.
i'm going to keep my eye on this. maybe its a sense thing?
Probably. The screen it shows where they select HDTV has got to be something on the ROM if they're advertising it out of the box. Hopefully in Cyanogen

Am I a tard i still can't find how to tag... It only says upload to FB and other sites when i click share... Do I need to have signed up with HTCsense or something?
No ypu don't need sense all you need is to go to the website on desktop mode and find the tagging link than just tap the on the pic to tag is that simple. If the browser sends you to mobile version just download dolphin browser hd and go to settings scroll down till you find user agent and choose desktop
When I try and sign up for HTC Sense it says to go to the Setup app but i don't see anything about HTC Sense on there... geez I guess I am a tard.
