Hi All,
Last Friday, I dropped my Orange M700 flat on its back while putting my jacket on, and the screen cracked!!!!!! I subscribed to Orange Care that same day, but am yet to make a claim. I was just wondering how long I should wait before I do so?
Thanks in advance
It depends when the subscription starts, IIRC when i took it, they said it would be active on my next bill date, so its probably worth waiting until then.

Hi all,
I am close to throwing my XDA2i against the wall, picking up whats left and driving my car over it a few times, or maybe sell it on ebay .
My question, "How does the Universal fair, compared to the XDA2i"
Alarm loud enough to wake me after a heavy nights drinking?
Is the signal level better, does the signal not die from 2 bars or nothing just as you need to make a call
Can you answer ever call(i.e. don't get the unable to answer call message, I look at the walk every time I get this).
Does it not crash twice a day?
Does the mic work so that they can clearly hear you at the other end!
Oh on last thing is the camera any good?
As you can see I am very unhappy with my XDA2i, but with 6 months to run on my contract, I am wondering if it's worth the expense or would it be a case of out the frying pan into the fire.
Any comments would be helpful, comical or otherwise.
Paddy
PS as I am with O2 (the buggers), so I will proberly wait until orange release the MVP5000.
From my personal experience, I'd say yes, absolutely, upgrade NOW! All those problems are things of the past for me now.
I have a funny feeling that others may have different ideas though...

I just spoke to Uplands ( www.uplands.co.uk ) and they'll have the Orange M5000 next week. O2 want £410 from me for an upgrade, so screw 'em - I'll give Orange my business.
How can you say you will swap to Orange, as you do not know how much they are going to charge for it yet, or do you know the price
Thanks
Brian
Hi Brian Colston,
Having been with orange for many years before, with thier excellent customer service, I was shocked to hear from O2 that to replace/repair my XDA2i dead pixel was going to take 28days, with no XDA lone phone.
Orange on the other hand gave me a new phone within 24 hours, OK so it costs an extra 5 quid a month but I would say it is worth it. I personally have had a P800 and a P900 replaced on this agreement.
I agree that if orange have a supid price then I will look else where, but I would be hard pushed to go with O2 again.
Thanks Sub69 and SiliconS, I shall wait to see what orange has to offer

So you pay Orange a fiver a month for 24-hour replacement but expect o2 to do it as part of the standard contract (they offer insurance as well)???
That's comparing apples with apples. :?

You're welcome.
Orange are usually slightly more expensive than O2, but they are competitive so I'm guessing that their M5000 will be comparably priced. I don't mind paying a small premium to swap. Orange customer services have always been much better than O2's in my experience.
Hi Southern-man
I really don't want to say to much about which company is better, incase I end up in court , but reading the o2 insurance it make no claims to suppling a phone in 24 hours. I don't expect to get it for free with o2, my life is that sad that I need my phone 247. If o2 did 24 hour no quibal replacement return, I would get a black one instead of a gun metal one
Any colour apple will do, just so long as the price is right, the taste is crisp and clean and no nasty after taste.......

Fair enough! if you've compared the insurance policies then no worries. I remember O2 gold being a no quibble policy but perhaps it's changed.
So you are paying Orange for insurance then?
QTek 9100 is in stock at Expansys now... still no word from SDD.
...and now SDD have confirmed they have stock!
Is SDD really charging 35 Pounds to ship to the US? That's $62 to move the box... Seems expensive when the box doesn't weigh very much.
Just ordered mine with AirMail.
I wonder how much time it will take to reach me...
Annoyingly... they received the stock on friday, so I bet we can expect to wait until Monday before any shipping takes place. Then we have to wait for the backlog of pre-orders to clear... ugh!

What do you mean by this? When I pressed "Confirm" I thought I WERE with these first pre-orders. Do you mean that in case the current batch isn't enough for everyone I'll have to wait for October 19 (or any later date) for my order to be shipped?!
The current batch is enough... but think of all the people that ordered before you! It will take a while for them to catch up with sending the parcels out!
Ah sure.
It's ok then.
When someone gets their hand on one can you please come and confirm it's finish? I keep getting mixed reports. So far I'm guessing it is the dark grey that most of the pictures show.
Lewis
Will do.
Just got mine!
11:48 Lodon.. just got my Qtek 9100.. it is grey black -- just opening the box now... will try to let you know later on my first impression!
mate in the office got his today. put it side to side against my k-jam earlier and it seems no different in build quality. the darker front facia is quite nice.. and the gun metal grey sides and keyboard are nicer than the black on my kjam.
out of the box software is a bit lacking.. not even a custom theme.. just the default wm2k5 one.
personally i'd still go for the kjam since imate has a uk service centre. no difference i can see other than colour and thats just a personal preference
Edit/Delete Message
show him why you went for imate, charge him for support and upgrades
he's a complete non-techie anyway so no doubt i'll be having to hold his hand for the first 6 months of having it anyway
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=6024101
for stuff on the qtek what i am finding.
Who cares if the service centre isnt in the UK. The Qtek has a 2 year warranty, I-Mate only has 1 year (granted, you might need the extra year as waiting time for shipping it to/from the service centre )...
Personally, I prefer absolutely minimal customisation on my device... so thats another plus for me.
My order is "processing". If they ship tomorrow I guess I will get it by Friday with the simple insured AirMail.
Hi all
I hate Orange. I've just moved over to an Orange business plan from Vodafone and Orange have been a nightmare. I've never experience such crap customer service, and I've been with Vodafone for ten years so that's saying summat!
Anyways, to the point. Whilst celebrating Everton's famous 3-0 victory over Liverpool, I pulled my brand new M600 out of my pocket and notice that the battery cover was missing! Absolutely no idea where it is, or when it came off, but it's a crap design if they just fall off like that.
So, I ring Orange. 'Sorry, we don't stock them and we can't be arsed sourcing one for you'. I email HTC, 'Please contact Orange as you bought the phone from them'.
Does anyone know a source where I can get a replacement battery cover? Needs to be black, so I guess it needs to be Orange branded? Mind you, I don't recall any Orange branding on the battery cover so I guess I just need a black one. I believe I can get a replacement high capacity battery that'll come with a new cover, but I don't really want to make the phone bigger, nor spend lots of money.
Any advice appreciated.
Dan
ebay? always a good source for stuff like that. Took me a bit of time watching the listings but I finally found a battery cover for my Dell Axim X50v.
Thanks for the reply. I already checked Ebay, and there's nowt doing. I'll see if I can set up some kind of alert to let me know when one appears.
Thx

Includes a battery cover but sadly I don't sell them on their own.
Richard
That'll do for me!
Any chance of a discount if we do something off Fleabay? I'll do you a bank transfer or Paypal payment if you prefer?
RIGHT!
Im into my 14th / 15th month of a 18 month contract with T-Mobile. Ive noticed that the battery power has been going less and less for some time now. But now the phone keeps on just turning itself off? I could charge it all morning, have a five minute conversation and then the phone would go off! Its extremely annoying as you could imagine.
My annoyance however comes when I go into the T-Mobile shop today and tell them about this problem to be told "The phone is only garenteed for 12 months and I could get it fixed but it may cost about £40 for a new battery". The shop assistant even said "Its problees the battery, they tend to go after 12 months".
WTF are T-Mobile doing giving a 18 month contract for something that only lasts 12 months!?! I mean am I pouring £8 insurance incase my phone breaks into someone elses bank for no reason?! Surely this cant be right?
Anyone help? Is my best bet just buying a new battery? I bet I get one and find out thats not the problem!
Thanks
pretty much every warranty is only 12 months regardles of any contract
if you pay for insurance, you have to mention this when talking to the t-mobile shop, otherwise they assume you don't have it - if you do have it, then they are required to fix the phone no matter what
to be honest, it would probably be a good idea to try a new battery anyway as batteries, especially lithium-ion ones, degrade if they are not 'cared for' and broken in properly
(i am assuming your in the UK right?)

Hello all! Managed to get myself a shiny Shift a few days ago on good ol' eBay. It's locked to Orange so I took a trip to the Orange shop within my local shopping centre. I was informed by the little kid behind the desk that he had never heard of a Shift and insisted that Orange never released it anyway. I informed him of how wrong he was and he gave up and told me that I have to own the device for three months registered to my name before I can get an unlock code and it would cost me £30. I asked him how it would be entered anyway and he said he didn't know. A wasted journey methinks.
I have a good deal with Vodafone for data and stuff and I'm not too bothered about unlocking and liberating the Snapvue side of things so would this work?

Anyone else used one of these or is liberation the only way? Or would it be possible/wothwhile to call Orange themselves?
Thanks!
