A little review with pics posted in my blog, in spanish language (sorry for inconvenience), of course, with pics.
Click on my sing.
I have played with the trinity 1 day(also have a jamin) and a few thoughts
No fingerprint problem in the white version at least(think how hard it is to keep a black car looking good--but easier with a white)
Boot up speed very fast--45 sec or better
Bluetooth music--you will need all the tweaks of the prophet/hermes but if done it sounds good. No skipping with iplay/ R35
3G works even with my old ATT sim card(very fast download speeds- 5 x edge). Able to stream Sirius on the high bitrate setting! Can receive voice call while getting data!
Not unstable--put pocketweather, weatherpanel, ip dashboard, pocket plus, chronos--no probs
Camera-better with low light conditions
Speed-overall better
Speaker/ringtone--louder
Downside-None yet
I still cant believe it....
Got my Trinity one week now and its really the best Gadget I ever had. There is simply nothing wrong with it. Everything works. Fantastic.

Which are all the tweaks? AFAIK there is only the 'JointStereo' one.
BTW--no problem streaming internet music over wifi to bluetooth headphones. This would not work on prophet

Indeed, it is that great. I changed from Qtek 8310 (HTC Tornado) and I'm simply blown away about how much more you can do with this thing

Dude! Do you have the same sluggishness with the dutch P3600 (maybe WWE has it also)... i really think it's horribly slow sometimes; slow menu popups, unbearable scrolling-speed, etc. It seems to consume lots of RAM compared to WM2003SE on Jam when running.
Nice review btw !
Do you have any good tips in the field of registry-hacks 'n stuff ? Like making it possible to map more buttons ?
I've read somewhere here that there's a lot of tweaks for Bluetooth stereo on the TyTN and the S200...what would those be, and can someone explain some more about that ? (i'm having trouble connecting it for the first time, and some dropouts sometimes... will resume music after phonecall though )

When a lot of programs are open it slow down a bit, but not that much. The reaction time of menus is slower then mine Qtek s100. I don't know if it is a WM5 issue or the device. Emulators like Scumm and Dosbox feel definitely faster.
I also made some registry and Windows Mobiles hacks.
I mapped the speech recognition button to the CommManager and the voice recorder is the speech recognition button.
I added the US/WWE softkeyboard to the device. The Dutch keyboard is missing the question-mark and exclamation-mark when showing large keys.
I now have the WWE keyboard which is definitely better.
Maybe I try to create a new thread with some registry hacks next week.
At this moment I try to buy a Nokia HS-12W headset, I hope it is compatible with the HTC P3600.
Just curious, how did you add the US/WWE keyboard?

I extracted a HTC Wizard (WWE) rom to my PC.
I copied the following files to my device:
msim.96.dll
msim.dll
After placing the files you need to add the next registry key:
Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}]
"ShiftLock"=dword:00000000
"KBMode"=dword:00000000
@="Keyboard"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\InprocServer32]
@="msim.dll"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSIPInputMethod]
@="1"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\DefaultIcon]
@="msim.dll,0"
There is only a problem with setting it as default input methode.
It gave me a white screen after a soft-reset.
Next week I will try to post the files, if it is legal.

Maybe you can use a web translator to understand the way to do
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ppccool.com%2Findex.php%3Fshowtopic%3D5907&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools
Look in: "Part in building site:"
Maybe the translation will not be perfect, but maybe will help a little.
You are welcome to ask questions
PS: Romanian is a bad translation, you should read "rom"
thanx - it works very fine ;-)

Why do you need to enable this? It is already enabled in the official HTC-ROM.
Hi,
I am using 20070511_LVSW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.0.5 however , the quickgps isn't in there. Can anyone give me a link where I can download it or extract me that CAB file out of an EXT. ROM of the P3300 ?
Thanks for the help, I appreciate that.
Cheers
Micman
Any particular reason why you want it? It is designed for the P3300 ratehr than the P3600.
All our tests on 4WM seem to suggest it makes little or no difference at all to the TTFF times, and uses GPRS data in the process
again, placebo effect...
@NeilM
Well pretty easy, it takes about 5 minutes when I start TomTom to catch the satellites.
Unless you have another solution for me ?
Thanks
Micman
Yes you could put a GPS quickfix sticker on your P3600. Works just like those reception improvement / bad waves blocking stickers...

That is a little slow by current standards, but not bad. You do need to make sure you have a clear view of the sky when obtaining first fix. Subsequent fixes ought to be quicker.
As I said above, QuickGPS makes little difference, and is also designed for the P3300 which uses a SirfStar GPS chipset, rather than the P3600 which uses the Qualcomm chipset.
if you guys think that the quickfix programs has no effect on the A-GPS chip found on the trinity, then why do you think that HTC is going to include the same program on the upcoming HTC Kaiser which seems to use the same A-GPS chip ?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't A-GPS network dependant? What if mobile provider doesn't offer such services. Anyways, I find Tomtom takes a little long for TTF. I use GPSTest to acquire fix, then load up TomTom. Works for me, hopefully helps u.

HTC has improved time to first fix with WM6. Before I installed the official SEA WM6 ROM, it always took about 4 minutes, but now it's always under 2. I don't know what they did but there is obviously something (new radio?) that improves TFF.

While I believe the GPS chip of Kaiser is a Qualcomm, there's still a chance, and rumors btw, that it's actually a SiRF-III. I know it's weired - but no one is able to confirm anything on the Kaiser - even for those guys who already got one. The only thing for sure thus far is that existing SiRF-III utilities do NOT run on Kaiser - but still it can't proof that it's a Qualcomm or it's definitely not a SiRF.
BTW, mind you that the chip on the Kaiser is different from that on Trinity. So we don't have a conclusion here yet. And you know, HTC has the past history of disabling Trinity's GPS chip in its earliest roms releases - that's make speculations difficult.
Merely giving the program the same name of "quickgps" doesn't mean anything either. If it's a SiRF, then it's something natural; but if it's a Qualcomm, I bet they would still call it quickgps instead of something like "qualcomm quickgps" for sake of simplicity.
GPS of Kaiser is a GPSOne Qualcomm I've looked into Kaiser registry. That GPS is inside MSM7200 Chip of Kaiser.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\GPSOnePort]
"InterfaceType"="COMM"
"FriendlyName"="QualComm GpsOne Card, version 0.0"
"CommPort"="COM1:"
http://www.cdmatech.com/products/msm7200_chipset_solution.jsp
I think there are some little chance to port QuickGPS application from kaiser to trinity
For Guybrush
Hello,
Look at this documentation of the chipset qualcomm 6275 on p3600 :
http://www.cdmatech.com/products/msm6275_chipset_solution.jsp
gpsOne® position-location assisted-GPS (A-GPS) solution
So may be HTC have not delivered the driver for Gps One !!!
The question of "the p3600 have à Gps-one capability"
The Answer is YES !!!
Private69.
@++++
I know... theorically should be the same... but it's not sure that GPS Driver of Kaiser seem different from the one inside p3600... but I think there some little chances to make quick gps working also in p3600. I tried to port Quick GPS application, drivers, registry settings from Kaiser ROM but when I launch Quick GPS Application, it gaves me an error like "Cannot create empty document" and I haven't understand the cause but maybe i missed something and someone more expert than me can have a better luck doing it
So after all we might have a chance to import QuickGPS from the Kaiser to the Trinity effectively....
Let's work hard guys

This works in my trinity with Italian udk 4.0 ROM.
It Wants HTC Homeplug and a little traslation.
Guybrush can do you do?
It's like the cab i did, just I missed one file, now I'll try
I remember thaht in my original ROM this cab doesn't work. It gives the same error that have you.
Now with this rom works.
I don't understund what's the problem.
I Haven't tried with your ROM.

@+++
Someone please confirm or help, do you have same problem?
In camera setting page - advanced - adjust (Like you want to adjust your contrast, hue, brightness, saturation for your camera) I can't setdown the value (Default is 3, I can't set it to 2 or 1) if my today screen is set to potrait. But in landscape (Right or left handed) i can decrease the value.
Any one have same problem, or any fix?
Thanks.

i'm sorry but i don't have that issue with my dopod. i tried it out by setting the default to portrait. from there i activated the cam and went to the settings. i could bring it down to 1.
cheers
Thanks for your reply. Anyway can you tell me what is your ROM version? Because i did confirmation to dopod indonesia, and they said all of they DOPOD U1000 have same problem.

I don't have this issue too, and it's actually the first time i heard this as well. I doubt the confirmation they made is true, since non of the other DOPOD ROM has this issue. Anyway, my ROM Version is 1.24.709.3 EXT: 1.24.709.105
I have the same problem with my U1000.
Portrait mode, settings can only be increased to +4 and +5, but not decreased back down again.
Landscape mode, everything is fine and working. I can decrease as well as increase the levels.
My ROM version is 1.24.707.3
Ext ROM 1.24.707.104
It looks like they have fixed this in the later ROM release as shown by wu's results.
Yes they fix on ROM ver: 1.24.709.3
But on my free pack i got ROM upgrade CD but htis only upgrade my Ext ROM to: 1.24.707.105, only add My connect.
Thanks everyone !!!!

My conclution it's ROM 1.24.707.3 problem's. But I can't find any 1.24.709.3 ROM version in member's dopod home page.
Some help maybe?
Are you guys and gals able to zoom in and out with your camera. Mine does not seem to be able to do so. On the left side of the camera screen, there is a vertical bar which I think is for zooming, but it does not respond to clicking or dragging. Do you have the same problem?
zoom only works if you not use 3Mpix resolution.because it's digital zoom not optical zoom. Maybe some one can hack if zoom will work on 3Mpix but your pict will so pixelated, look bad (Like you using your DigiCam and us digital zoom.). And your zoom avaibility will increase if you use lower pixel.
I think it work like that.

Hi,
After you press the icon it autofocusses and then the screen dims white and then you can hear the click. The photo is ok.
If I do this in panoramic mode it seems ok.
Anyone ever had this issue or a fix?
thx
Yep, that's how it works! Think this started from the camera software port from the Topaz or Rhodium devices so I assume you have a custom rom?

Checked out the forum but guess my keywords did not make it.

well i seem to get faster autofocus anyway
Yeah, I always felt the new camera software was faster when taking snaps. Not to bothered about the white screen personally.
