I'm hoping someone can assist me - I'm looking for a task scheduler for the Ameo that allows me to configure the PDA settings. For example, of an evening, I setup the Ameo to charge on my bedside table, with the SPBClock running in fullscreen screensaver mode, so I can look across in the middle of the night and see what time it is. However, each night, I have to change the settings to drop the screen brightness down to minimum so that the glare doesn't fill the room too much. And each morning, I have to turn the brightness up again so that I'm able to use the device in the day.
I'd like to be able to schedule this automatically. Also, I'd like to be able to configure the volume control to set itself to a standard setting each evening (quiet, but not too quiet) then change the volume again in the morning.
Id also like to schedule programs to start up/close down at scheduled times, but I think most task schedulers do this anyway.
Recommendations please?
Phone alarm sounds like the most likely candidate..

I use PhoneAlarm and it will do this. Only issue is WiFi control is a little flakey, but I think that's a WM5 issue in general. PhoneAlarm also has other nice features. I'm a fan. It does have a nice skin that works well with TrueVGA.
Looks like it could do the job - I've installed it, so I'll see how I get on with it and do a review. Nice and cheap as well for purchasing the full version. Cheers All!

Hi, sorry to invade with what seems like a trivial issue but does anyone know of an app that allows the following functionality? I used my old phone as my alarm clock and am missing the functionality on my Magician -->
1) BIG snooze and off button / or hardware button map for off/snooze (can't see much at 5am!)?
2) Play audible alarm at max volume even when PPC muted?
Any help would be much appreciated - or good excuses as to why I have been late for work since I got my new toy!!!
Thanks,
OB.
How about this one?
that prog is great and what u ask for. i use it myself!
Perfect!! Thanks very much indeed...
One slight problem - The today plugin conflicts with my Calendar plugin and completely removed it from the today screen and config page?!?
I did a few resets and uninstall / re-installes to no evail, so I removed the pTravelAlarm plugin registry entry (software|microsoft|today|items) and ptplugin.dll (windows dir) followed by a soft reset and my Calendar was visible on the Today screen again... odd?
I am not too bothered about the Today plugin part of the pTravelAlarm program so still happy
OB.
You could also try Spb Time. Large snooze button. Never fails to wake me up.

This was the standard built-in plugin that was trashed -- I did try Calender+ and it worked fine, but wish it would show a tomorrow appt. if it is the next one, as the built-in one does...
OB.
I have now tried both the pTravelAlarm and the Spb Time. The Spb Time is cheaper, has more functions and are better looking than pTravelAlarm => use Spb Time
I don't follow you with that you can't see tomorrows appointment with calender+. I can see the following two days with all their appointments. You can easily display up to 31 days with calender+.
Spb Time is about what I wanted as an alarm when migrating from Nokia to Magician. Had to install some fix to get it working though. Alarms and Windows Mobile doesn't seem to get along.

I like to display next 2 appt. only. So if I have a 5pm and an 8am next day, I like to see them both on the today screen but not more than 2 appt. so the display 2 days does not work for me? Unless I am missing something in Cal+?
Thanks for the inputs, much appreciated...

Strange, I have no problems, so far....
@obarnes With calender+ you can set it to display the next x (between 1 and 31) days, hours, appointments and so on. Just enter the options and set it to whatever you want.

I have used both WolfClock and StopTime. Both are pretty good and they will do what you want.
StopTime is more barebones, visually simpler and to the point, though less refined. While cruder, it is quite good at what it does. Also has various timer/stopwatch functions.
WolfClock is more visuals (fancy backgrounds etc) and colours. It runs of Compact.net, is therefore a bit slower to boot up the firt time after a soft resent. It also eats up more memory space with all sorts of cute things like a setting where you can tell it to play music for x mins until you go to sleep. Some might call this "bloat". The one thing I will say is that at night you might find the choice of a softer screen color worth the extra memory.
Both have good handy button size for when you need to stop, snooze etc and both are free.
Hi all,
I have been using PPC Profiles for some time now- I have recently discovered the PhoneAlarm app...
I love all the features of PhoneAlarm- especially the repeating alarm on sms etc.
I don't really need many of the display items of the PhoneAlarm today bar; what I do want is all the Profiles listed side by side (as with PPC Profiles).
As PhoneAlarm is generally better- is it possible to have the above feature in PhoneAlarm?
So, all I really need is an app that has repeating alarms and profiles displayed side by side. Even an individual app that does the repeating alarm thing would be great.
Thanks.
Hi SH500
I currently use PhoneAlarm, but check out SuperAlert for PPCPhone edition. You should be able to find it at www.pocketfillers.com This is just a repeating alarms app that runs in background, accessible from a icon in the system tray. You can use in conjunction with your current profile software, or try the excellent PocketZenPhone for profile functionality. PZP is available in today screen and system tray versions, so you can keep your today screen really clean with this and SuperAlert.
Hope that helps
Regards
Chris
Nice one- i'll have to look into those software titles.
Thanks.
Phonealarm Profile switching
you can use the buttons of the navigation pad (left-right) on your macigcan to switch between the profiles. this is just like having the profiles side by side. first klick down until the phonealarm is marked, then use right or left to switch.
Orlando- a great tip- even for many others I should imagine.
Thanks.
@all,
momentarrily I am using mphoneschedule.
Seems somewhat massiv though. Any alternatives?
Thanx
Pocket Zen Phone (sure) or Phone alarm (<--maybe i'm wrong) that switch profiles in auto.
@skizzo,
not quite yet;
zen phone gives you profiles. Am looking for a scheduler, pin entry, fully automatic on/off at specific times.
Thanx
PZP does that just explore a bit more into it's features.
Whats up guys
I was wondering if there was a program out there that lets you schedule vibrate on/off. This would be really useful so that it would change before and after classes, after 11:00pm or whatever.
Thanks guys
Joe
The HTC home plugin mod by kaiser will do this
Search the forums for 6 tabbed htc home!
Just a quick explanation of how this works. the HTC Home plugin has four options for setting the volume/vibrate of the phone. Normal, silent, vibrate, and automatic. Automatic is the one your looking for. Basically, what it does is put your phone into silent when you have an appointment in your calendar. The only problem is that it doesn't take into account whether the appointment is listed as "free" or "busy". I personally wish it would not silence the phone when the appointment is listed as free, but you take what you can get.
so it's tied to the calendar ?
you cannot schedule it to do it at certain hours even though the calendar is empty ?
I think PhoneWeaver does what you are looking for (if im not mistaken)

Or PhoneAlarm.
Any suggestions of programs that don't need to take over the Today screen? I'm using Windows Mobile 6.5 default today screen which doesn't seem to have automatic vibrate like TouchFLO 3D had.. I'd also rather have it as automatic silent, not vibrate, so I still need a real program even if I go back to TF3D.
Hello People,
I would like to hear what software you are using to handle profiles.
I find the options offered by TF3D/Sense UI, very basic and unsatisfactory.
So far I have heard of:
G-Prifle,
Phone Alarm
Phoneweaver
Problem is that, with the exception of phoneweaver, these apps don't integrate well with graphic shells.
Advice is most welcome.
Profiles!
I use Second Today, with it you can get second today screen and put all today-plugins there and still have TouchFlow on.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401907
I use 2today with PhoneAlarm and it works just fine. I assigned 2today to send button. PhoneAlarms latest beta can operate Touch pros 2 bluetooth stack. There is 7 diffrent setting at bluetooth and mine device worked with setting BluetoothFix=5. Itried Phone Weaver, but it crashed sometimes with 2Today, and it cannot handle BT toggle.
I havent test G-Profile, but i read at they forum that its not fuction good with Touch Pro 2.
I used a long time Phone Suite 1.3 and that worked good with profiles, but it cannot handle BT toggle. And its version is rather old and it hasnt been updated for long time.
So im very happy with 2today with phonealarm, when im in car and put BT handsfree i can set a profile to that, and my volumes go up to 100%.

Sorry for my english
I had the same question. Ultimately, I am back with PhoneAlarm. Nothing beats it, functionally, and there's now a solution to specifically support TF without needing a second today screen. Installing the latest version allows an icon on the taskbar using the new "paHost" mode. Try it.
I'm using the "FlippedOutV_B_w" skin to get all kinds of neat switches available at the touch of a button. Added a row of apps to launch and a row of folks to call and it's pretty slick. I just wish I could change the icon to a clock with a date or something like that.
