my HTC TyTn was send to repair after 3 days, had to wait 1 day for collecting, 14 days for repair (eurotwice) They repaired 2 things and did a update 1 day for returning
stil my phone freezes sometimes 5 times a day (only phone then i cant be reached and can make a call)
ok returned it to eurotwice, they would put in a new motherboard. waiting 2 days for collecting (something went wrong) 14 days for repair an 1 day for returing.
no new motherboard stil same problem...
calling to eurotwice, HTC, dangaard (imported the device)
eurotwice reserved a new motherboard and now they would fix it.
waiting 4 days for collecting (wrong again) 14 days for repair and 1 day for returning
AND still no new motherboard it was not broken BUT they recalibrated it
stil not working
is it me?
i tried my duo simcard, 1 new duo simcard (tmobile sendet me a new pair) even with a other provider, same problem
maybe its a pda not a mda and the phone buttons are for nice lighting???? and even storage compartment for a simcard so you cant lose it and can put it in a real phone for calling????
i think you all dont have these problems??? provider signal 80-100% (but frozen). now i sent it back to my shop for refund (i hope) its costed me more then 2 new phones... i quit, i dont know what to do next, maybe i nice tap with a hamer????
good luck to you all.... a ex htc customer
Dear Mrijnvis,
TyTn is a powerful neat little toy, just its phone application sucks.
My problems, identical with yours, went off when I stopped traveling (job change, christmas time) and switched to GSM only.
Probably they will pick up again some time soon, but I will be trying to keep the device, hoping that the problem will be eventually fixed. I originally planned to exchange the device, but after reading your post I decided not to (I need my toy every day!), and I am thinking it is rather a software than a hardware problem.
By the way, I am not a talker, so occassional lack of signal actually helps me. I am working on my colleagues to use email rather than calling.
In two days I am switching to a prepaid SIM card (no PIN) and will maybe observe some change in phone behaviour. Will be posting here with anything potentially interesting.
i use only gsm because in auto mode with umts its even worse.
sotware problem, i tried 4 different rom version, even south african version no diference
i have a t-mobile sim card but even with kpn sim card same problem.
i think it must be hardware problem.......
I have been having a battle with T Mobile ever since the day i got my ameo. I was having a problem getting the sim to register so after looking at the little picture of the simcard with the arrow under it I gently pushed it down a bit thinking it may 'Click' in like a memory card.
Unfortunately the simcard just kept moving and literally slid past the reader directly into the phone! and could not be removed. All you could see is the top edge at the bottom.
T mobile have said it was MY fault and voided my warranty but surely NO PHONE should allow this to happen.
A private phone repair shop has removed the simcard and said that nothing was broken inside the phone so therefore there was nothing in place to stop this happening.
I phoned HTC and the guy said that he could not push a simcard into the phone when he tried.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Has anyone got any advice on what i should do?
Its so annoying surely it is a manufacturing error to allow a card to go into a phone!
My first Ameo wouldnt recognise any sim. I returned it and got a replacement.
If the sim is out of the phone now and its working (ie, you can put it in so it works) dont worry. If it still wont work, just report it (but dont mention it going inside) as a broken phone, DOA. They will replace if its brand new, they HAVE to directly replace it up to 14 days after purchase.
this all happened 30 days ago!
the phone has been to tmobiles repair people and to this private firm who have removed it.
its a long long story
i dont want anyone to mess up their phone but i would like to know if anyone can push their simcard past the sim reader.
I am going to argue that it is a manufacturing error not my fault as the HTC tech person said his ameo/advantage would not allow this to happen.
IMHO The Simcard holder is absolutely awful in the Ameo. Its not entirely obvious the first time which way in it should go and I found that it will take a card the wrong way (upside down). And once its in, its pretty darn hard to remove it again. Just glad I've not had these issues.
First - if the problem happened in the first 14 days (never mind how long ago that is now), T-Mob should replace it. I have found you have to argue with them but eventually they give up.
If not, did you not get the T-Mobile insurance? If so, make a claim for accidental damage?
i didnt take out insurance, so i guess i will have to argue my case.
i should get it back today so i will take it from there.
my missus even offered to join TMOBILE so i could get another phone as my bday present! but thats gonna b a last resort.
Basically the phone should not allow this to happen IMO

I agree - and it is an odd design (as is the flap which covers the relevant slots). Good luck.
well looks i have have had a result!
I got it back to day and its now working , however its a bit scratched
Tmobile are going to replace the handset!
Glad to hear they are finally doing the right thing. I was going to say, persist.
But its sorted now, so you can finally relax and enjoy your phone.
cheers for that chaps i was getting a bit stressed about it all!
i have been streaming live Tv via ORB on my high speed unlimited connection , SUPERB!
for the last 4 or 5 days I been having problems with my phone. If im in a edge network and travel into a 3g area the phone will not change unless I do a soft reset. I was running Run_Keys rom and VP3Gs rom. and even went back to stock rom and still the samething. AT&T said sounds like the phone. Im thinking it might be the sim card. This phone was just replaced under warranty less than two weeks ago. The old phone worked fine except the E key was not working. I was going to stop at the AT&T store and get a new
3G sim card.
Also where can I get the dial pad skin from Fun_Keys rom. I found his background. I can not find it. Im thinking of sticking with Wm5 for awhile until I know the phone is working.
Thanks
If you got a new phone 2 weeks ago and that's when the problems started, the problem is with the new phone.
I stopped at the AT&T store this morning. They replaced my old 3G sim card with a newer one. The new phone will be here tomorrow. I will let u know how it goes.
after 3 exchanges they can change u out for a kaiser.. its a no-lemon policy.
Hi.
Yesterday when I woke up my phone couldn't pick up signal. I thought it was because of the heavy rain but now its still not picking up a signal. I flashed the stock rom and it could get signal some times but the problem is that it wont stay connected. Like when the phone goes into standby and you turn it on it loses connection again. I am now running the newest tabtastic chuckyrom. It only picks up signal outside but it loses it like every couple of minutes, and then takes a minute or two to connect again. Does anyone have any suggestions?
flash a radio?? 2.12 maybe? works great for me
Ok. Im gonna try that and tell you how it goes.
Ok. i have tried it and it still doesnt work. Im goin to flash the stock rom back.
edit: The flash rom is on and off with the connection.
I don't know if you're using one since you're on AT&T but the SIM card can affect that if it is old or getting worn out. Replacing it will help if that's the issue. Happened to me a couple weeks ago.
Ok. I went and got a new sim and its working ok inside but could be better. I just listed it on ebay and I will use my touch pro 2 until this sells and i get another one. But thanks for the help. Oh I also call HTC and they told me it would take a month to fix or send a replacement and that if the atennae failed that it isnt covered by the "Limited Warranty" so i would have to pay.

I was very happy yesterday when I picked up my brand new Desire HD. When I got home I immediately removed the plastic from the battery, inserted my sim card and plugged it in the charger while reading the manual.
After some tinkering around it suddenly rebooted. I thought it was just due to a setting I changed so didn't think much of it. However, it occurred another time later in the evening. This morning when I woke up, I didn't have any signal due to my DHD not recognizing my sim card any more. When I rebooted the phone, all was well. However when riding my train to work I felt the phone vibrate so I picked it up thinking I had a new text. Wrong: I was staring at the boot screen yet again.
When I got home this afternoon I did a factory reset using the phone's menu and hoped it would solve my problem. Unfortunately, when I opened the browser it rebooted again!
So, is my 2 day old DHD really dead-on-arrival or is there something else I could try? Unfortunately this was the last model left at the store where I got it from and they didn't know when another shipment would come in, so I might be stuck waiting for a while if I really do need to get it exchanged for a new one.
Mine is also doing this, also when I turned it off last night to charge it, it kept turning itself on. Any help much appreciated.

imo take it back if a laptop or anything else was doing this i would say there is a hardware fault bad chip sample or something its not normal you should have to live with it take it back asap
or wait if you want but personally you pay that much you want it to work just take it back
Maybe your SIM card is old and causing these reboots? DHD will automaticaly reboot when you unplug your SIM card without shutting it down first so maybe it's just loosing contact.
I've seen cases (various manufacturers) where SIM card would cause hangs, reboots and such. Replacement card from the operator in most cases fixed the issue.
My Nokia 6630 has that issue, it says the phone has to be reboot constantly due to a old scratched sim card, if i try with a new one it works perfectly :|

These reboot issues are a problem with the Desire, Nexus1, EVO4 and now it would appear the DesireHD. For the other phones the solution is to return to HTC for a mainboard replacement.
I really hope this isnt the case for the DesireHD.
As for it being my sim card: I doubt it as it works fine in my old phone (Nokia N900) and an old Motorola I still have. The sim card is barely 1 year old btw.

Yeah, I read about similar problems with the Desire and Nexus One but hoped the problems would have been solved in the DesireHD as I hadn't seen any messages of this problem occurring on the DHD before.
When I woke up about an hour ago, I again had to reboot my phone as it didn't see my sim card anymore. I'll go back to the store in about an hour to get a new one if they have it, and let you know when I get back...
This is just a wild guess, but may you should try to take out the sim card and place it back again. There could be a loose contact, dirt on the sim or some something else that might be causing a problem the phone does not see the sim correctly.

I thought of that last night so I took out the sim card as well as the battery and placed them back again. This morning, the DHD again failed to recognize my sim card so that problem wasn't solved.
The reboots seem to be rather random though, it's not just when I use my phone very heavily.
the issue with the sim card isnt the mainboatd issue, its can be sim or one of the back covers, wird.
Well, I went to the shop this morning to replace my DHD for a new one. The shop I got it from didn't have any in stock anymore, so I had the choice to wait until next week, or go to another shop and have it exchanged there. So I went there, and they replaced my (I think) faulty unit for a new one
So far, it's working like a dream What I noticed that with my previous DHD the charger would buzz very slightly when charging, this doesn't happen with my new unit and the same charger.
I'll keep you updated whether or not my new unit is indeed problem free.
I bought my Desire HD from the T-Mobile shop yesterday. Nice phone, but mine is rebooting every 5 minutes more or less. It seems to reboot soon after the 3g becomes active, but that may be just a coincidence. It also reboots immediatly upon plugging in the USB cable. Very annoying!. I thought I would try resetting to factory default, but that also did not help. I am going to swap it tomorrow, and hope I have better luck with that one.
Andrew
Same issue here, got mine from three UK yesterday.
Brand new SIM Card with the phone as well.
It was fine most of last night, rebooted once then after setup, like another post didnt think that much of it.
Then this morning it went in to a boot loop, rebooted about 5times in a row and the only thing to correct was a battery pull.
Lets hope its a software issue and not hardware related!
I haven't been able to test my new unit properly just yet. I ordered a new SIM card through T-MOBILE but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm now using my DHD without a SIM card and it has been working fine for the past 24 hours. So I think my SIM card is indeed the problem, as both units rebooted several times with the SIM card inserted but work fine without one.
When i picked up my sgs. It used to have same problem. Everytime i open a browser it reboots. But after i changed the rom it went perfect
Factory reset wont work. Try fresh install from the recovery menu. I think it will fix ur problem.
Most of the time this issue is software related.

Replaced my DHD at T-Mobile
Hi all,
So i was experiencing the reboot problem on my new phone. In fact mine was rebooting every 5 to 10 minutes since i took it out of the box. I phoned HTC to see if there was something I was doing wrong. They told me it's probably mainboard fault and I should return it.
Today I brought it back to the t-mobile shop and they exchanged it for a new one no questions asked. I demonstrated to the sales guy how it reboots for no reason, just to prove I wasn't crazy, but he didn't even ask for proof. The new one seems to be working flawlessly so far.
Here in Netherlands, you have 8 business days to return your device if something is wrong, and they will exchange it. If you wait too long, you would have to send it for repair under warranty. If you are having issues such as this, I would definitely swap it out a.s.a.p because when you buy an expensive phone like this, its meant to WORK!
I noticed something else perhaps worth mentioning. When the first phone package was opened, the plastic piece protecting the battery was not there, and the Micro SD was in the box, but not in the phone. The plastic cover was on the phone however, so I didn't think anything of these things because i don't know how the phones are packed. When I got the replacement phone, I tried to start it and it wouldnt start. Only then did I realize the replacement phone had a plastic protector around the battery which I first had to remove, and the micro sd was already in the phone. When i put my sim in the replacement phone, the fit was tighter as well. This all seems rather dubious to me. Perhaps someone had a play around with the first one before selling it? Maybe it was refurbished? In any case MAKE SURE you inspect the phone before leaving the shop, and make sure your phone hasn't been played with.
good luck everyone!
Andrew
Horrible reboot
Hi all,
I have been experiencing different reboots due to different reasons. Main reason is the fact of applying too much pressure on the back cover. That will always result in a reboot (I suspect it has to do with the two contacts under the cover).
Another reason for rebooting, as I have experiencing, is unplugging the charger while using the telephone.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are more reasons that cause the rebooting of the unit.
The worse part in my case is the fact that I lost the receipt, thus I believe I won't be able to take it back to have it fixed. Am I wrong?
I've been experiencing the same issues, but mine also turns itself on. I tried factory reset, didn't solve. So I am getting it exchanged as soon as its back in stock with Vodafone.

I am having exactly the same problem with my DHD. It's randomly rebooting 1 or 2 times a day. And when it's rebooted there is no signal and sometimes it doesn't even recognize my simcard at all. Manually rebooting the device then solves the problem for a while, untill it reboots automaticly again....
I have a dual simcard so today I will swap it, but I don't think that is going to work.
I don't have the DHD yet...
But i saw in a youtube movie that the batterycover had 2 contacts.
The guy in de video told that when you take the batterycover off when the phone is on it will shut down.
Maybe your battterycover is not set the good way.
