What should I do, and it needs doing in the next couple of days, as I cannot now charge or sync my mobile anymore.
The problem is that the white plastic bit that was holding the pins in the usb socket of my mobile (O2 XDA Exec or the HTC Universal s the original manufacturer (HTC) call it) has cracked, perished and come away completely.
I have managed to still carefully use the pins, just for charging the battery.
today one of the pins have got bent (extreme right looking face onto the socket, mobile correct way up), and in my attempt to rescue it, it has come off completely.
It now wont charge.
I can post pics if necessary.
I have had the mobile over it's 12 month contract on O2, which ended in March 2007. I have since changed to T-Mobile PAYG with Web'n'Walk (max £1 per day for web).
Today, I managed to phone HTC customer services (the original equipment manufacturer), and the guy gave me the number for their Europe repair center.
Phoned the repair center, and gave the IMEI number, and was told it was an arabic mobile.
I explained the situation, and was referred to the O2 repair center.
I then phoned the O2 repair center up, and they couldn't help me as i'm no longer an O2 customer.
Any suggestions as to what I do now?
Look like you need to learn to solder those pins.
I can solder stuff, but it's a harder job doing the smaller pins.
The work around is to get this which I have found:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/11277.htm
so I just take the battery out each time I charge it.
remove the memory card to move/copy files to/from it etc. and then put back in the mobile.
That will keep me going until I get a new device (htc Touch perhaps?)
Even if it is Arabic Mobile, the HTC Europe should fix it. As we are talking about out of warranty, they should fix it for a fee. I mean it is their product and you are not caliming any warranty but are willing to pay for the repairs (right?!?) so they should fix it. For a fee.

Hi,
Has anyone ever dealt with these people? I have been trying now for 2 days to get hold of them to get my JJ repaired.
They arent answering Telephone, the phone number given in the message is hard to make out and every connetation i have figured is a dead number. I faxed and emailed even and no reply.
So do I hand over my phone to someone i cant even get a hold of?!
Where else can i send my JJ for repair?
Cheers
Stot

Ohhh..
My MDA Compact is much stronger.
I think it is not possible repair it by waranty.
Try to call to I-mate directly or speak with customer service at www.clubimate.com
I know expansys have had thiers repaired there - there must be a secret backdoor! I would ask I-mate if they have another number for them.
I realise that its not a warranty repair, but its probly cheaper than the £650 i paid for it.

So i called the HTC service center. And they were happy to take it for repair until i mentioned it was an I-Mate.
Aparently the motherboard in the different devices are different and they cant touch them.

Hi,
Where can I get spare parts for the Wizard/ MDA Vario?
Specifically a new battery cover. I have dropped my phone and the tabs have bust off the cover.
Tried the net, can't find anything.
HELP!!!!
Cheers,
Steve.
Buy a dummy !!!
Hi,
My solution to a similar problem was to purchase a dummy wizard in ebay.
The battery cover is fixed with tape. You can extract it easily with a knife without damaging it.
Regards.

htc-europe and htc-america sell spare parts. use the contact option on either website. i bought a cover for gbp 10
Well, I tried HTC UK and they told me they can't sell parts to me as my phone is badged and supplied with T-Mobile, so I have to go to them for parts.
Tried T-mobile who said it wasn't down to them as I took the contract out through an Internet company called Mobile Fun, and to try them for the parts.
Rang Mobile Fun and after being on the phone listening to crap music for 15 mins(!) in a supposed queue, they advise me to try Ebay!!!!!!
So does anyone else have any ideas or could someone who is allowed to buy parts from HTC get me one, and I will reimburse their costs and postage??
Thanks,
Steve.
Can anyone help that, I used to surf the 3 hk (network producer in hong kong) portal before I had hard reset my device? Which without any problem. However, after the device was hard reset, I could not connect to the portal anymore. It just shown " Unauthorised device detected the accesses to 3 services are not from an authorised 3 handset and they are denied! to ensure security and services to our customers, the activities are logged and will be followed up". Please help for solution, since I paid for the portal charge with contract made.
You may need to take your unit to one of the 3's service centres and have it reconfigured.
There is a '3' service centre in Mongkok operated by iTouch, and it's not usually busy.
I don't like "3"
they always reconfing the machine to fit their service
did not allow users to change.
Ditto
That's why we are both using Smartone

Thanks for your advice. But I have called '3' hotline for three times and asked for three operators to get help. They told me to call Dopood for fixing the problem since the device was not bought at their shop. And I just want to have a setting alternative to solve the problem and prefer not to bring my device to their centre. Anyway, thanks for everybody.
No one here mentioned anything about calling the hotline for help. If it is indeed a matter of reconfiguring your D810, just move your lazy a** down to the service centre and let them take look - they don't differentiate or discriminate whether you bought the unit from '3' or not. I took a friend's D810 bought from CSL 1010 last month (he had a massive corporate discount) to have it reconfigured for his '3' phone SIM and it took only 20 mins!

Problem solved at last. Let's share the solution. I just need to remove the sim card before I proceed the hard reset. After that, I can enter into the 3 portal. Thanks for everybody and you may share this technique to others if they have the same problem.
Please post where you like (rapidshare,...), this dutch rom was installed on my device and now i need it to return to basics.
HTC should give people a backupcd, like when you buy a pc, you get oem Windows. I don't understand why i cannot find it online anywhere, they throw roms to your head at the carriers O2, T-Mobile,....
And totally no support, even no download when registered on HTC site
I think I have more support from XDA forum users than from the company i paid the HTC for... cannot wait till September for WM6 dutch (if not delayed as usual). 1 month without GSM & GPS is impossible.
i bricked mine the first time.
brought it back to the phone shop with the massage "it is broke"
they have repaired without any questions
no such service from your provider?
Slow repair service
Yes, i bricked it also first, rom number was original on startup screen, now it's the 3.7.0000. Received it repaired also without questions, but took 6 weeks, by then the WM6 dutch should be out

Previously my cellphone was submerged in water then I took it to a service center for repair. And they said the LCD was damaged so I was willing to do the LCD replacement.
After the repair process was complete I tried my cellphone again and it turned out that I couldn't pick up on the operator's signal. I returned to the service center again to be checked and said that the IC was damaged and I agreed to replace the IC.
After the IC replacement was finished I tried again, it turned out that the operator signal still could not be caught by my cellphone and the service center said that because the IMEI was blocked by the government. I checked on the website and it turned out that my IMEI was not registered. I checked on my cellphone box which I still kept, the IMEI was still the same.
The service center advised me to make a complaint to the shop where I bought the cellphone to re-register the IMEI through the distributor. I went to the place of purchase and filed a complaint. After spending a month from the shop to buy the phone I confirmed that my phone was beyond repair and returned the phone to me.
So,
After this drama I finally decided to buy a new cell phone.
and I have a plan for my old cellphone that cannot be connected to the operator's signal to be used as material for custom room experiments and tweaks in this forum.
The problem is how can I root if I can't connect to an operator signal? because in the "add account and device" section, the cellphone is required to be connected to a cellular operator?
