Hi,
I'm missing the "Connect to internet via phone" option from the Bluetooth wizard. I'd like to connect to the internet through another mobile phone and I couldn't find any way to do it.
Is there any way to "install" this feature to the Bluetooth wizard?
Thank you
you should search in this forum. there should be a patch for bluetooth wizard ( one .dll file), that'll do the trick.
faced the problem myself some times ago, solved now
Thanks.
I copied the the .dll and made a soft reset, but I couldn't make connection
Do I have to change these parameters:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dun]
"port"="COM7:"
"DeviceType"=dword:00000009
"FriendlyName"="Bluetooth"
???
What are your port settings?
Thanks
as I remember, I did not change any value in registry. but try to change it to com 9.
what's your mobile phone model ??? Some phone need additional AT command when dialing.

Hello:
I am using the "Wireless Modem" to connect my laptop to the web via GPRS on my PDA2k. When I use the connection via USB (cable between laptop and PDA2k), it works perfectly. When I do it via Bluetooth, I get the error message "Error 734: The PPP link control protocol has been terminated" right after it tries to register the computer on the network. It seems to recognize the username and password fine, but then it shows the error message and drops the connection.
Any clues as to why this is happening? I have the exact same settings in both the USB and BT dialup connections. I'd like to be able to use BT because it is one less cable to carry around.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Fernando
bluetooth modem connection problem
Hi, i read in other forum about this problem, is it setting problem or XdaII problem?
I plan to get one mainly for this purpose, if it is a problem then i have to get something else.
any one please help to clearify.
thanks
AlexT:
I did this OK with my old MDAII, so I think this is not a Himalaya (MDA2, XDAII) problem, but rather a Blueangel (MDA3, PDA2k) problem.
Fernando
I had this problem recently while abroard.
Even though it "dials" the default GPRS connection you need to manually enter the correct APN name in WirelessModem->tools->settings. It defaults to the APN of the first GPRS account entered rather than the one currently active.
Hope this helps.
Do you know which ROM your version of wmodem came with? (wmodem is installed with the OS ROM not the Ext ROM, right?) Looking at mine, which I think is from i-mate, there is no tools menu in the wmodem applet, and therefore, no place to set/check the APN...
hey anyone has the JAM driver for the wireless modem? If yes can someone please post it here or attach it on this thread. I really need it in an emergency as I am away from my home and don't have the CD with me for the time being. Please please please can someone send me the file
thanks in advance

I figured my question out. It is included in the ExtRom. The version included in OEM_TMO_NL_IssueFix_142115.sa.CAB in T-Mobile_MDAIII_Ext_Rom_142115_WWE.rar has the Tools menu.
ysatti, there are a few versions floating around. Try this modem driver:
ftp://xda:[email protected]ers.com/Uploads/USB_modem
or this one:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Blueangel/O2_UK_Xda_IIs_Upgrade_v140242.exe/
If those don't work, try the attached CDMA version, even though you have a GSM phone. (Remeber you have to be logged in to see attachments)
hello, did anybody found out the solution? I had exc the same problem with my xda mini now. But couple months ago I canuse the bt wireless modem without any problem. I don't know what's up, I did not make any change on setting and installed new progame this period. Last the bt is worked, I can send and received files between the pc and mini.

Hi!
Did you add in modem properties initialisation string?
For me: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","www.umc.ua". I didnt use modem dialer, only usbmdm driver. Connection set up manualy. Sorry my little English ).

That's work for me. After add the APN, now I can use bt wireless modem.
Thanks
bartman,
Glad it helped.
Dasert75's solution should work as well, and for people without the "tools menu" because it does the same thing.
Seems silly that it uses the default GPRS account but does not get the APN from the settings for that account though.
com open error (8)
i installed wm2005
but when i try to activate the witreless modem on my device on usb connection it says
com open error (8)
any one has any idea ?
Hi folks,
I searched the topics, but didn't find any related messages...
Forgot me if exists, but don't want to waste more time.
So.
I try to connect my Laptop (IBM T42, WinXPSP2), to the Internet over IR port with my XDAII (Parameters can be seen in my profile).
The problem is that it can only detect my PDA for file transfer, but not as a modem..I tried the PC with a Nokia mobile phone, and when I connected it to the IR, it was automatically discovered as a modem and worked properly.
I tried IRComm2K to convert the IR port to a standard COM port, but it just frooze and always got error messages like the modem not responding...
Any idea? many thanks
are you using wmodem ?
ooo....what do u mean under wmodem?
one more info: I tried to start the "wireless modem" application on the PDA and then connect it to the laptop, but there was no change...
programs->wireless modem
there you setup if you want to use ir, serial, usb or bluetooth
ok..now u c my answer...I tried that
ok was not clear in your post that you did it on the pocketpc just one the pc but wireless modem is a pocketpc program
u r right now what shall I do? I know....keep drinkin beer and don ask stupid questionz
Another question, just to keep the topic up
I got several network settings on this PDA. And somehow those cannot be deleted(!). When I go to start -> settings -> connections -> connections -> advanced -> select networks, I can list them (there are about 5 connections).
But if I select one, click on edit, and go to General, the delete button is just grey...
any idea why? or where can I delete those manually somewhere else?
(I guess this is the time when I should start looking for a registry editor for PDA...sucks...)

Hello,
I have a huge problem concerning my XDA Neo (Prophet)!
Months ago I had a XDA Mini and when it was connected to my computer I had an internet connection on my XDA.
This does not work on my XDA Neo. Im not able to establish a connection and I really need to, because several programms (SPB Insight) need to update via Internet, and normally they would start automatically but they cant connect to the internet!
I tested Pocket IE and it doesnt work either! If I establish a connection via GPRS everything works fine.
Are there any differences between XDA Neo and Mini that could explain this problem? Do i have to change settings in order to get a connection?
Did i miss anything else?!?
Please Help, I didnt find anything useful via Search or via Google. Everything was related to WLAN !
Thank you in advance!
Jack Bauer
Well, it works .. now?!? Dont ask me why. I established a new partnership (did this 2 times .. before), and now I have a connection!?
If someone has a clue why it didnt work ... tell me !?
Bauer
Two possibilities:
1) Firewall, since with WM 5 and up the device is recognized as a network by the PC.
2) Mismatch in settings between ActiveSync->Connection settings->'This computer connects to...' and (on the phone) Settings-Connections->connections->Advanced->Network selection
Hi, i had a similar problem, tried a few things, and it worked
1. On your device, open Connections, click Advanced :
Select MY ISP for programs that connect to the internet
Select MY WORK NETWORK for private network
2. Open Activesync, Connection settings, Select "Internet"
Try and see if that works, if it doesnt, there is a LVM Reg patch file in this forum for the desktop, which makes it work for sure.
Cheers

Hello
I am using Windows Mobile 6 and want to make a connection from my Pocket PC to the internet using my mobile phone on a Bluetooth connection, on Windows Mobile 5 I would using the 'Extra Dial String' part while making the connection to *99# but in WM6 it has disappeared therefore I cannot make any connections.
Any tips?
Ta!
Kev.
Hi Kev, no but I am also needing that, if anyone could help It will be highly appreciated...
Same here I'm afraid...
WM6 did remove DUN networking on favor of PAN. It has been hacked to get back DUN. I am on dial up tonight do not able to find links for you but look for a thread I started about TOMTOM and DUN and look for mfrazzz's response. Also you can look for menneisys (sp?) posting on pocket pc mag or somewhere where he details how to do the hack.
In WM6 is really easy..
It includes an application called "Internet Sharing" (it must be in programs).
To use it, you only have to chose in 2 combo boxes:
1- If you want to share the connection via USB or Bluetooth
2- Which network connection you want to share
Then tap on Connect, and then plug the USB cable (or connect via bluetooth).
After this, you phone would be recognized by windows as a network connection (the one you shared).
That's it...
Just keep in mind that if your connection uses a proxy, then you have to set this proxy in the program that you want to use in the PC too.

This was a well known problem that was discussed somewhere. If I remember correctly, the idea of the solution is pretty simple, but the implementation is rather tedious.
As a matter of fact, those connection settings including extra modem init strings are stored in the HKCU-Comm->RasBook-<connection name> registry under the keys "DevCfg" and "Entry".
If you export them in ASCII, you will know what I mean. They claimed that you can export these registries (esp the "DevCfg" key) from a WM5 device (with your init strings of course), and import it back to WM6. Things would then work as you wished.
But the trouble is you got to get a WM5 machine or someone to try to do it for you.
I have an AT&T Tilt running Laurentius26's L26KDV12 (Windows Mobile 6.1) and I would like to use the device as a USB modem - NOT for internet connectivity but to connect to remote monitoring devices around the state that have modem's installed in them (for example, from my desktop I have an external 56K modem connected to COM3 - I have several HyperTerminal profiles setup with phone numbers, baud rate, etc.. that I open and my modem "calls" these remote monitoring stations"). I would like to be able to use my laptop and the Tilt (Kaiser) as the modem so I can call into these pieces of equipment while I am traveling.
Any advice - or search tags would be appreciated. I have already searched the forums and did a general Google search but all results turn up how to use the phone as a Internet Connection device - this is NOT to connect to the internet...
Thank you!
Have a search for 'usb_modem.zip' and 'MODEMLINK'. The usb_modem.zip is a driver file for Windows and allows your PC to use your Windows Mobile device as a modem. You also need the MODEMLINK installed on your device which you activate like you do with Internet Sharing. I have MODEMLINK cooked into my ROM and unfortunately don't have a .CAB for it, however I think there is one. It only consists of three files, a shortcut and some registry settings.
I have tested it sucessfully with some dial-up ISPs and it worked fine. When I was initially testing it though I attempted to phone my home line to verify it was dialing out OK and this didn't work. Since it isn't something I use often I haven't pursued this but I think it might have something to do with the 'CSD Line Type' setting in Settings/Connections.
thanks for the information. I did find and download the wmodem software for the phone but when I activate it I get an error message about not being able to access a com port, the cell signal goes dead and I have to reset the phone.
If you have a different version that what I found (5.1.2600.2180) let me know - that may be the difference...
thanks!

When I launch Modem Link I select 'USB' as the connection, Baud Rate is 'Unused' and Access point name is set to the GPRS APN I have configured (however this is unused I think?). I then hit 'Activate' and ActiveSync disconnects and the 'HTC USB Modem' is then connected to COM4. I can query the modem from the Control Panel applet on my PC like any other modem. I can also open HyperTerminal direct to COM4 and enter 'AT' commands. I just tried dialing my home phone again and this didn't work, however dialing an ISP did.
