Our Internet Access Service requires you to have JavaScript enabled on your browser. Please enable JavaScript in your browser's options, then retry.
im thinkin ive seen these kinds of messages also for flash ? php (?)

TTT
please advise - I have read a lot but haven't found anything on this issue !

Yes, I would welcome some tips on this. What plugins are needed to make IE useable? It does not work on lots of sites.

You might want to try an alternative browser like Opera.
Pocket IE is fairly limited.

does opera have the majority of plug ins or add-ons needed to function nicely?

AJAX'd mobile IE homepage

With all the talk of AJAX at the moment, I've had a play with it in mobile IE. I wanted a local homepage that could load when I start IE and give me access to most of the services I use.
So from that homepage, I can get to:
Searching multiple search engines (Google, Wapedia, dictionary.com, etc)
My del.icio.us tags
My del.icio.us bookmarks tagged as 'mobilefavorites'
My favorite RSS feeds
And some standard "bookmarks"
I've also set it up so I can go to the full webpages or view them via Google's gwt.
I've attached a copy if anyone is interested (either to use it or just to see how it works).
To customise for your own RSS feeds, favorites and searches just edit "config.xml" - When you edit this, make sure it is valid XML (try loading it into IE to see if it displays OK - I usually forget to replace '&' with '&')

I'm working on a website that is very similar. It's not ajax yet, because i'm focusing on the lowest common denominator such as mobile phones running browsers like netfront or ones that are to slow to really run javascript code at a reasonable rate.
the site is at http://wampad.com. I'm also working on a uk centric version but i haven't released that yet.
The only thing it haven't added yet is rss feeds, but i'm working on it. The tag I use for del.icio.us bookmarks is mtag.
I'd really like to here what you think.
There's a nice right up at, http://wapreview.com/blog/?p=100
I am pretty sure that PIE doesnt support the xmlhttp control.... This could be why you have commented out methods like getXML and added comments like "This doesnt work in PIE"
Thanks gurok, I'd forgotten I'd left those comments it.
PIE doe support the xmlhttp control (It is actually used in the code to retrieve the RSS feeds) - what it doesn't seem to support is basic authentication with the xmlhttp control.
Thanks

cant select links in wap

hey folks,
i've come accross a pretty annoying bug i think. when i open a wap webpage with pocket ie i cant jump from link to link with the dpad or the scroll wheel. it just scrolls down the webpage. this means i always have to pull out the pen when i surf on wap pages which is kind of annoying. on regular html pages i dont have any problems selecting links via the dpad or the scroll wheel.
oh, and before the hermes i had an mda2 running wm05 and it also worked perfect there.
am i the only one with this problem? are there any sollutions?
i tried searching the forum but couldnt find anything.
greets
4saken
am I really the only one with this problem? or is everyone having this problem and there ist just no solution?
Yeah, it's something I've noticed too. Really odd. Opera Mobile handles links in WAP pages fine though, you can scroll through links with the scroll wheel and d-pad just like web pages with it.

I just tried mine. Cant remember last time I was at a Wap site.
Anyway I had no problems both Scroll and DPad scrolled down each and every link.
I don't suppose you have changed any settings in the likes of Tweaks2k2 to do with smooth scrolling. (Although even if you had I would have thought it would change regular sites also)

The BBC Mobile (PDA) page has some links to WAP pages (the Video Headlines is currently only available inside the UK, but it's nothing you can't already watch online via Ben Metcalfe's BBC News AV Flattener site (a VERY cool work in progress). However, you can load some of the other WAP links, I use it to test connectivity if I'm in a situation where I need to... URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/pda/
Ben Metcalfe's site: http://bbcnews.benmetcalfe.com/ (there's no pretty interface yet, you just load the html files up inside the directory listing, they're regenerated every so often automatically by PHP script and cronjob).

Yeah, I'll have a look at these - not bothered about pretty interface particularly as I often use GPRS with no special tariff (reeeeely expensive) but I don't seem to have the problem of not being able to scroll to the links so it appears either I or you and 4saken have changed.
I didnt change anything in the registry. I had this problem both with the original german rom from o2 and now with the newest english htc rom.
The ability to scroll through links on a page is limited to web pages only, Pocket IE's ability to scroll WSP:// protocol pages is, by default, restricted to only scrolling up and down the page.
To be honest, I'll just bop a link with my finger if I want to load it, it's not that hard and I prefer smooth scrolling up and down a page anyway (I read a lot of long articles on sites such as The Register and the browser screen constantly diving from left to right, jumping down huge amounts to the next link really bugs me). You must have some kind of addon or third-party application which reintroduces the ability to scroll through links in wap pages, because by default that's not possible.

Internet Explorer Mobile settings

Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere. I searched for a while and couldn't find it.
I don't know if this matters, but I'm using Open Touch 4.0 biggie (it's awesome!). Anyway, I'm trying to figure out how to make IE Mobile go to the regular versions of Web sites rather than trying the mobile versions by default. for example, I'm trying to listen to the audio stream at a local sports talk radio station (not sure if I can post links, but the domain is 670thescoredotcom), and by default IE puts "mobile" instead of "www", which doesn't exist. I can't figure out how to point the browser at the regular site. It's probably a simple fix or toggle that I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated.
i sugest looking for another browser like opera mobile or something
PIE is maybe the worst browser on wm
I'm not sure it is the browser doing that
some websites actually have code that checks what browser you are using, and then redirects you to the appropriate pages.....they also check for things like javascript, flash, etc.
if it doesn't know what type of browser you have or what it supports, you usually get sent to the regular site....
but i think internet explorer mobile identifies itself as such, so then the website actually redirects you
i may be wrong but i believe that is how browsing is handled by the webservers for different client types

Hmmmm... Check your settings on WOL, that site should work. If for some reason it doesn't, you can try Avantgo. Also, pages with RSS feeds can use SPB Insight.
First of all, you'd be better off posting a general question like this here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398571
instead of opening a new tread...
As for the browser - use Opera Mini (freeware). In case you don't know it - it's not really a WM5 program but a java midlet but with proper java VM (like jbed) it's probably the fastest browser available for this platform (and saves your bandwidth thanks to server-side content compression).
It can save pages for offline viewing: the option to do this in menu/tools/save page. Saved pages can be accessed from browser's start page.
[EDIT]
Sorry, didn't notice that you want the link targets saved as well. Opera mini saves only the page you're viewing but doesn't save linked pages. I haven't heard of any WM software that could do that.
I think the easiest way would be to download pages to the PC and transfer them to your device afterwards.
[/EDIT]
Have you tried avantgo?

Internet explorer specs

Hey guys, I've had an Alpine for a while now, and after moving around devices i've found myself using it again, primarily due to the fact it's now mounted to my wrist (if anyone here is a fallout fan, you know what i mean )
I've always thought of developing software for it, but never really got round to it, or had the time to learn any form of programming.
However, I do have a lot of knowledge in HTML, PHP and Java, and I want to try and come up with something browser based for my Alpine, and possibly even yours!
So, I have Opera Mini 5 set as my default browser, but that doesn't set it as default when opening local .html files sadly, therefore i'm going to try stick to the default Internet Explorer, therefore if anybody know's the spec's for the version of Internet Explorer built into the device, what languages and scripts it supports, ways to get it to display more like a real application (any ways to remove the bottom/top bar, getting it to display fullscreen) or any other details, and if anybody can contribute feel free to share ideas or code here.
--On a side note, i'm starting a website specifically for Alpine software/roms/support, so if you own one, you might want to check it out, i need contributers, link should be in my signature.
Thanks in advance
It will also be useful to know the display size for internet explorer on the Alpine, as in the pixels the browser window displays
NTpspE, use UcWeb. It can be set as default browser.
I like opera, it's fast and keeps my bookmarks synchronised with my computer, but that's not what this thread is about. I'm wanting to know the specs for the default internet explorer in order to see if i can develop any useful localised web apps for the apline.
