I've just posted a quick guide to changing the PagePool size on the Wing, which ships at a rather unnecessary 12MB. 4MB / 6MB seem to work well for me.
http://www.modaco.com/Pauland39s-Gu...ouch-T-Mobile-Wing-PagePool-Size-t256280.html
Next up, making the most of the 4MB (ish) wasted space in the IMGFS. Sadly it can't be reclaimed (AFAIK) to storage memory because there's no hacked bootloader, however there's no reason it shouldn't be possible to rebuild the IMGFS and flash it on with extra content so at least it's not wasted! I've tried the technique on my Touch (7MB IMGFS free!) in fact, and it worked great

Great that there are some guys still cooking herald / wing / terra roms.
Is there any way to get a clean vanilla unbranded rom with 4MB pagepool???
Thanks
@papamops - did the pagepool resize worked for your o2 xda terra ?
The page pool resize should work fine on the XDA Terra.

I haven´t tried it - because i once bricked my device and got it repaired from O2 service. I don´t wanne risk it again before there is an official RUU to falsh. Becuase Imei.check didn´t worked for me the first time.

Yes - i could find all HEX values mentioned in your tutorial.
One question: The ITSUTILS_Preperation.cab is it neede for flashing? And is it the same like the ASERG.cab for installing aserg WM6??
Thanks.
It works
I did it and it works fine. As long as you follow the steps correctly. After a soft reset and the storage card inserted i have 22.72mb ram left with the 4mb page pool. I haven't done any modifications yet. this is just after reflashing it. thanks modaco

Only 22MB???
Thats not much. Without any changes and the Terra pagepool (12MB) i have 19mb after hardreset and deleting only sdademon.ink rom startup.

I hope to get more.
What we really need to get the devices spot on is a USPL bootloader created by someone who can... (pof?)
The we can resize the IMGFS and reclaim that space too - the Touch has over 7MB of wasted space, the Wing 4MB.

Ok. Now it´s done .....
Rom is available.
Until now there are a few linitations with this ROM:
1.) Bootimage are not adjustable. Needs more investigations
2.) Flashing is only via EXE-File possible, because this ROMs are little bit bigger than the normal an xdatools checks the filesize.....
3.) Part of ROm that was reserved for backup is used in this ROM, so those data will be destroyed while flashing.....
ROM is available without any additional Programs (Download the Attachement) and also already included in the kitchen (http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/).
I cannot gurantee, that all is working fine. So flashing is on your own risc....
Also it would be great if some nice guys donate for the xda-developers or for me. Link ares available here and on my kitchen....
If you have any problems, please use this thread, PM to me or Email....
Have fun with the new ROM...
Stefan

I think it does not (i repeat, i THINK). The sd-erase bug was a bug in Windows CE 4.2 (WM2003 based on that), and there were a patch that correct that bug (if you have the WCE4.2 source of course ), so WM2003SE should be patched.

There are 2 possibilities:
1.) Wrong device. This only works with Wallaby devices (XDA I / MDA I / ... )
2.) You have rom that prohibits flashing via exe (e.g. 4.01.16) Than you have to downgrade first via SD-card (e.g. Special Edition ROM) and then upgrade to WM2003SE
HTH
Stefan
As I remember I flashed my device with this ROM long time ago, Lumpistefan you finnaly sort it out to let it work GOOD WORK!!!!
were can i gt the patch
im trying to upgrade i dont have the patch yet sd eraser.
Hi,
I had rom 4.01 and had to downgrade to 3.17 with SD to be able to upgrade to 2003SE, i did that but now it hangs at boot screen and the problem is that i dont have a card reader and even can not sync, how can i make another image on SD or any other solution?pls
Thanks

Ok I want to do a full Backup of my Herald, so if it crash that i can go into Windows, fire up a program, pressing "restore old ROM" and it is the way i had backuped it.
I know some programs, that are storing backup datas like sms, contacts etc. - but thats not enough for me.
So is there a program that can fulfill my needs?
( and yes, i read a lot in the forum here - but i didn't found anything or i'm just a bit blind )

When you do a backup of your ppc with spb backup, it will backup everything that is on your device (ROM) that is not part of the ROM itself.
It means that all programs installed after a hard reset, all the databases (mails, contacts, notifications,...) all the registry, and all files not being part of the ROM.
So if you do a hard reset and you restore the backup it will be exactly the same as it when you did the backup. And I think that it is what you want.
Caution, if you do an OS up/downgrade, your backup is useless. This backup cannot be either installed on another device.
Cheers,
Fred
ok sweet - ty fred. another question: what if i changed the ROM - how to backup that ? no solution yet?

This is device dependent. With some of them, it is possible, with others it's not, for several reasons. If you don't find tools or someone who managed to do it and provided the way to do so, well you're stuck... I think dumping is not the biggest problem, the real problem is the restore stuff. Sorry, but it is so.
Cheers,
Fred
hehe ok ok - i would be a step closer to my goal if i would find a way to unlock the ROM/ break into, so i can change files in there...

What do you mean? If you're talking about doing it 'live', forget about that. But if you're talking about changing the contents of the Rom before doing the upgrade, well the tools are already existing and kitchens too (depending on the device)
Cheers,
Fred

It should be an official Rom, am I right? If it is the case, download it on the official site and use NBHExtract to get the dump of the .nbh file and rebuild it. Have a look in hermes forum and in xda-wiki

Hi,
What you think, wich ROM is the best?
I admit, that i like simple, fast ROM without manilas, cubes etc.
Most importat thing is free RAM after SR. It must be more than 24Megs free RAM, and i prefer wm 6.1 (6.5 it's ok, but only).
Thanks for advices.
cheers
PS: sorry for my poor english. I Hope you will understand my question

me personally, im using AndreW82's 6.1 rom..
click on it - on my sig to download the rom..
youl need the activesync fix and the camloader fix though, but its really fast

cam loader.cab

Might be a simple problem of memory.
First, you should clean the opera cache once in a while and
second, you should check where you store the opera cache. Things go easier if you put your cache to your SD and do not store it in the main memory of your HD2
thx.. but how to change the cache to my SD ?
Snap
I get this all the time now with the latest versions of opera in the latest roms.
It reallly does my head in hahaha
Not sure what the difference is compared to to older versions
i have reverted to using mobile versions of websites for now.
I Have tried all the tweaks they have no effect including moving the cache to the SD Card

Have you checked the size you have given to the opera cache? This can be changed from something about 500 kb up to nearly 10.000 kb. Probably this helps?
