Power off when machine resumed screen hangs - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Dear All,
I have a problem on my JASJAR when you "Power off" the machine or have the Power under Settings checked to "Turn off device if not used for x minutes" then when you resume the screen appears but it will not respond to input. You can however ring the JASJAR and it will answer.
Anyone got any ideas??

Hey bro, I have got the same problem as yours. But My PPC Phone is Dopod 900. My Dopod 900 sometimes also gets freeze when I receive a SMS. Please help us ?

Maybe you have a program running on your Today screen that jams things up. Try to remove any Today plugins and see what happens.

I've done what you told, but my problem isn't solved. Are there any possibility that my Dopod 900's ROM is unstable ? Do you think I should upgrade my ROM cos my ROM have never been updated ? For your info mine are :
ROM Version : 1.13.69 WWE
ROM Date : 10/12/05
Radio Version : 1.04.02

i think everybody has this problem with the uni.
me too.
in other threads on this forum it has been explained that this happens because of the auto scalling of the processor speed.
a solution is to install pocket hack master and to disable the auto scaling feauture and there was more. use the search and you will find the sollution.
my problem is that after installing PHM, i can't get into the Speed Configuration area to test the stable speeds for my device.
all other areas can be accessed but this one can't.
don't know what's wrong with my uni!!!??

Everyone,
I had the same problem, and found out MY culprit: WisBar advance! Since it was installed in the SD Card, I think the seek time on the car wasn't quick enough for powerup. At one point I just had the machine on all the time so it wouldn't hang. I reinstalled WisBar Advance to main memory...BAM! Powers on like a charm...every time!
Hope this helps,
Marc

Wisbar hmm
I also use Wisbar and think it might be the problem. Sometimes it hangsand sometime it doesn't. But then it will hang and the top portion (taskbar I think?) will display my theme and nothing else below it, and will have to soft reset and even after soft resetting it will hang on the password screen; but on that screen its the default WM5 theme. I'm also trialing PhoneAlarm and believe it might have some issues as well. On the PA forum there is a link to one of the moderators on THIS site who gave some good advice on possible conflicts. It seems on my device there is copy of Wisbar on my SD card as well as my device if I delete the copy on my card will that affect the hanging?

I think it's probably best to uninstall from main memory and the card, and reinstall to memory. (Make a backup copy of your themes directory on your SD card first)
It may be that WM5 doesn't know which location to load from. I have not had one problem since moving WBA to memory.
Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks for the tip, moved WBA to main memory and no hanging at all on power off or on. Thanks again. Now if I can get Googlemaps not to hang on screen rotation this will be perfect.

Great news, Harry. I keep all my themes on my card and copy them over to the memory only when I want to change one. This saves on space.

Brand new O2miniS: how to tweak to get max performance?!

Dear all,
I'm new here, I've had a good look through the forum, but I feel a lot of the information is a little over my head. I was hoping for some advice for my new MiniS out of the box:
Regarding setting up my device, are there any programs I should or shouldn't install? Or anything I should uninstall immediately?
Am I better off with the O2 ROM, or is there another I should flash my device with?
Are there any particularly good pieces of software that you could recommend?
Thank-you very much for your help,
s_h_a_h_i_d
look at htc magician forumpart (topics)
look at htc magician forumpart (topics)
Surely since the XDA Mini S is an HTC Wizard, not a Magician, he'd be better off looking at the Wizard forum?
o2 mini is a magician init
Yes, but the thread title refers to an O2 Mini S.....
He is refering to MiniS mate.
HA HA, Now that the squabbles are over, , I'd like to add my bit.
The best thing anyone can do first off with the MINI S is toss that o2 customised crap right off.
I am assuming you have'nt put too much on it yet
Press the soft reset button. (Under the IR port)
As you let go of that reset button, make sure you are pressing both the comm manager button, AND the voice buttons. Thats the top left side and upper right side buttons.
This is called a hard reset and WILL ERASE EVERYTHING prom the phones memory.
Do the screen calibration and cut/paste bit.
When it say's "Tap the screen to start using your device", be ready to press the soft reset again.
This is because when you tap the screen, a customisation box will appear.
PRESS THE RESET BUTTON, when you see this box.
The phone reboots and hey presto, proper PDA, not o2's idea of one.
Hope this helps.
Just to add to the above, there is a thread on here regarding decent software for the PDA.
Have a look through the thread list and you'll see it.
I would recommend Resco as a decent file manager with some excellent features. Be careful with some of these tools if you are not sure what you are doing.
Other than that, have fun.

Hi Jerry-S and everyone.
I've just got a T-Mobile MDA Vario, the Wizard version of T-Mobile.
Would you recommend me doing the same hard reset so that I can get rid of T-Mobile settings?
My Device Information shows:
ROM version: 1.6.2.4 WWE
ROM date: 11/15/05
Radio version: 01.12.10
Protocol version: 4.0.13.23
ExtROM version: 1.6.2.105
Can I update to a newer ROM and if yes where can I download it and how can I update ROM, please?
Thanks for your help.
Rgds,
PPB
Hi BUSPBP,
I am a relatively new user myself and won't offer advice on anything I am not sure of.
I have seen ROM updates on here for other networks but as I am on o2 and running my most recent ROM, I can't comment.
Just to be sure you understand though, the updating of a rom that isn't specifically for your unit has many risks. At the end of the day, it's up to you so just put ROM in the search page and have a look at what comes up.
As for removing the Network Provider software, I would assume that the process is the same for them all, as the extra operator features are installed from an extended ROM.
That's to say, the main OS is installed first and then the extra stuff installs afterward.
If you can replace things that you have put on your phone then give it a go, it'll either work or not.
At the end of the day, if you like the extra things and want them back, do another hard reset and let everything install as it wants.
Hope this helps.
Hi Jerry-S,
Thanks for your help. After reading through some threads in this forum I've decided to upgrade my Wizard with the new Qtek ROM. It now works much faster and I don't have any more problem with Wifi connection.
Can you or anybody please advise what does the ExtROM do and if I can exclude it from the device? Any good in doing this?
PPB
If you think of it this way, it's a little easier to understand.
When the device is new or has a hard reset, the following happens.
(If I get this wrong, I'm sure someone will let me know. LOL)
1. The device powers up and a section called the Bootloader starts.
2. As the operating system is not there, it installs it from a ROM.
3. The operating system then runs and you do the stylus calibration
and the date / time settings
4. That is the PDA set up.
5. After that, another ROM is installed, (If you let it), which contains all
the customised software for your particular phone company supplier.
All it means is that the basic Windows OS is running at the same time as the custom software and the Windows functions are accessed by the company customisations that you are presented with.
Because of this, the processor in the PDA is working in effect, twice as hard and it is slower.
As far as I am aware, there is nothing in this custom layer that can't be done directly in the Windows layer.
I would like to upgrade my ROM also as the o2 ROM is one of the oldest versions released, but as I see it, once installed, there is currently no way to downgrade back to the previous version if something goes wrong. Thats the only reason I have'nt done it.
As for removing it completely, I am not sure. I have seen posts on here reffering to that, but I think it is contained somewhere that you couldn't make use of anyway. i.e. Making use of the extra storage space that it takes up.
I know I get a bit long winded, but I have a bit of a job explaining stuff. LOL, sorry.
Hi Jerry-S,
I remember someone told that we could prevent the ExtROM from installation by soft-resetting before that process, but since I don't know yet what are included in the ExtROM and if there's any good in doing so I haven't tried it yet.
I don't know if the O2 device and network settings have anything too special that you could hardly set. In my case though I've got the T-Mobile version I am actually using Orange, so it's perhaps easier for me to come to the decision. And it's worth it for me. No problem with the upgrade, given that I've unlocked CID in advance as someone has warned. And the device is running much faster. That has even halted my intension of doing the overclock, at least for now
PPB
Comments recieved.
I must admit, I kept looking and looking at the ROM file on my computer thinking errrrrrrmmmmm...............
Well I did it, but I didn't notice any real increase in speed, actually it seemed slower to me.
That in mind I though, balls and put the o2 Rom back on.
As for the EXT ROM reatures, I think the main advantage is that the MMS and Mobile web settings are set for you, but those could be found quite easily.

hi, im new and guess what....

I've got a few problems with my t-mobile mda vario.
1. This thing is sloooooow. I've got an ipaq h1940 which is a similar spec but has half the ram and it runs twice as fast :? I've run the registry tweaks which seem to have improved things a bit but after startup and active syncing im getting up to 10 second delays before the start menu opens
2. The blutooth manager seems a bit sparse, and theres no option to change the serial ports from 6 or 7 :?
You lot seem infinately more knowledgeable than me on these things so hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance

do you have a taskmanager installed like SPB Pocket Plus or Magic Button? If not do so!
When you close a program with the above leftcross-button, WM5 only minimizes the program but does not close it. All program will just be running in the background. Use a taskmanager to close them for real.
If you have installed one and your device is still slow, i suggest overclocking it to 240 or 264 Mhz using Ompaclock, which is reasonably save to your device.
Install the latest Qtek rom, and your MDA will be much faster
thanks for the advice guys.
didnt realise you could overclock pdas
where do i find the qtek rom?
is it pretty easy to do this as ive heard horror stories about people making their devices unbootable and unable to claim on their warranties.
will try the software and the overclocking for now and report back
thanks for your help
the overclocking tips on this forum were very useful also. Thanks to all

For MDA, most people are using:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_Prodigy_2170702_217_20710_TMO_US.exe
This also includes some useful tweaks and keeps the TMobile settings.
Do it now, before you get too far into customizing, because you'll have to do it all over again after the upgrade!

A copy of the "stock" TMo ROM is in the same directory, so if things go bad, you can hopefully restore it.
Or you can back up your ROM yourself using aWizard -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386
The only tell-tale of the upgrade is that it is CID-unlocked, but not SIM-unlocked. WM5 is still there, but there a number of improvements.

Hello : i got a jasjar rom 1.30.76 wwe radio 1.09.00 Extrom 1.30.164
Everythig is so slow...anserin a call , open a program , refreshing the screen....
Any help
Luis , thnks in advance.
I would try reflashing the ROM. Make sure you remove the SD card and SIM card (optional, but take it out anyway just in case) before you start flashing.
... but before your reflash, try a hard reset first. It might just be bloat from all the apps you got installed on it.
Do give us a list of the apps you've installed: we can find out which program is possibly causing trouble.
your device shouldnt be slow. we need a lot more details to assist. For example:
1. List of apps on device
2. List of apps on storage card
3. List apps showing on your today screen
4. Details of your startup directory
5. Details of what phone skin you are using
6. Did you install antivirus?
7. Have you disabled error reporting
8. Have you disabled automatic beam acceptance
There are many others, but these are a good start.
You need to help us to help you.

yes, most of the times, today plugins are the main culprits behind the slowdowns caused. A poorly programmed plugin can make a fast device crawl.
To the author, keep it to bare minimum.
Thnks to all.
I just have spb plus instaled,,,and not the today plugin...
so you have absolutely nothing else?
why spb without today plugin? the today bit isn't that slow, I find its all the add ins.
could you answer the rest of my questions pls eg:
what is in your startup folder? etc

Not really; the battery and storage meters can slow the system down quite badly too.

Booting very slowly. Any advice...?

I have the Black 2.0 an Radio 1.40 and Oli 1.40, and I installed "MenMaid" and the SPV M3100 boots very slowly 8-10 minutes, and then it works the same, 2 days ago I had the same problem with MENMAID, and uninstalled and made several soft reset and extract the battery at the end it works well like allways, but now I made the same but it very slowly.
Please Could you tell me any advise?
Thanks.
what does this program do? have you tried it on any other ROMS?
I presume you mean Memmaid? I don't use it but it cleans out memory, notifications etc etc. I'm just wondering if it has a setting to auto clear memory or do some sort of clean up on bootup. If it does, perhaps you need to uncheck that setting?? (Only guessing!)

Sorry the program name is Memmaid, like say Mikechannon. Is allow to clear the memory, registry etc. is like Sktools but I thing less powerful.
I didn´t try with other roms, because I have few time, and I haven´t got any time to recharge and configure all software, althougt at the end I will have to do.

Yes, you at right, is Memmaid. Is posible that has this funcion (cleun up on bootup), but I uninstalled, This haven´t got to happen. No?
-What can I do?
-Can I boot in Secure boot, will do anything? I try it, but say that push the action key (Which is the action key?).
-What will be the best way to change the Rom?
Very tranks for your attention.
Strange I'ved used Memmaid with most WM6 roms without problems.
You've uninstalled and the issue persists? And you are sure it's Memmaid and not anything else? What version of Memmaid are you using?
I guess you could reinstall the newest version (or another suitable program) and check the bootup apps/services and remove some them to see if that helps. While running what services/prog are running??
If not then a HR and see if the issue is really related to Memmaid.

Thanks for your answering BorisTheSpider. At the end, I made a HR, but I belive to know which is the problem.
I can see that I have 1500 Mbytes used in my SD_Card, but really only had 1100 Mbytes in files. I formatted the SD_Card, but the S.O. say that is used 975 Mbytes and others 900 Mbytes free, I couldn´t format the SD, At the end I could formats the SD with one utility "Format Memorys".
I thought that my real problems could be the SD. I read in this forum that is very common this problem, if used the on/off button to switch off the device and if in bootup is the sddaemon.lnk.
Thanks for your interesting.
I am going to send you a PM.
slow
hey same problem here im using prophet WM5 but the boot time is too long. guess it's because of the slow processor. but it's obviously slower than i first use it. now that i've installed so many things...
but 1 thing is whenever i open the windows folder, it takes like 10 mins to open the folder. is there any rubbish inside any1 removed safely and helps?
any1 has this file called 'cemail' on mydevice ? it's 1.87mb and i dont know what is it's function and it's always there.... too space consuming
Yes, opening the Windows folder is slow - this is due to all the files which are to be displayed.

Somewhere along WM5, a few cooks started putting Cyberon's Voice Commander in their roms, but because a lot of people preferred M$ Voice Command, they stopped (a quick reminder that VC cannot be cooked into a rom because it is licensed software)

The ROM has a very beautiful interface. I have tried it and my first outstanding concern is with Windows Media Player. Unlike other ROM versions that I have used which give the user the option of pausing a media file when another application is in used, the WMP in this ROM simply stops and does not resume playback. So Gloomy, your ROM will be really great if you can address this Problem.

have just flashed this rom. good performance but i am having a problem.
i wonder if it's just me or is wifi not working well? i can get a connection- though it does tend to get disconnected quite often NOT because of poor signal.
Also, even when it's connected, apps cannot seem to recognise the connection and therefore cannot get online.
this has happened to one wifi connection at home 100% of the times i try to connect and also happens about 50% of times that I try on another wifi connection of a different router.
any suggestions?
p.s. ive never had any problems with other roms- ive tried most of them...
thanks

I had a similar issue with an older version of Swampy's rom. I am not certain of the reason why, but 20758 doesn't seem to have that issue anymore. One thing I did find out was that Weather Pannel was causing my connection to drop for no apparent reason. If you are using it, try to take it out of the Today Plugin and see if it still drops the connection.

i think my problem is kinda different as my connection is really being dropped that often. but rather, while im connected, nothing can recognise the conenction.
getting online via activesync and gprs is fine, just not wifi- very strange.
ive tried taking away the weather panel with m2dconfig; deleting the country; disabling auto update and so on but they didn't help unfortunately.
so...any more ideas?
btw i installed wifi profiles, tried to use it but uninstalled it in the end because it didnt help and it's not something i need. surely....thats irrelevant to my issue...
wifi and windows media player
About wifi, make sure in wifi settings, powermode you tick off 'turn off wifi when not in use for 2 minutes'
Instead turn it on and off manually when needed.
I use AKwifitoogle very happily, will probably add it to next rom.
About windows media player...
Have you tried loading a different windows media player cab file (instead of the one provied with the ExtROM)
If that works better please report the link and I will be happy to try it and if better include in the next release
Thanks to all who have tried the rom and especially for your feedback!

Somewhere along WM5, a few cooks started putting Cyberon's Voice Commander in their roms, but because a lot of people preferred M$ Voice Command, they stopped (a quick reminder that VC cannot be cooked into a rom because it is licensed software)

Hey my friend! Sorry I haven't been very active these days. Been going crazy playing with HTC Home Icons and Flash Home screens. Amazing stuff out there!!. Actually, I'm trying to find Colored Icon Bar, similar to those that are being posted all over for Touch Diamond. Haven't found one that works on BA Yet. Perhaps, maybe our icons are individual images? Didn't think about that.
Thanks for the info about M$VC.
At present, I'm using Swampy's ROM. It's the only one not driving me crazy with the BT and WiFi Issues. Will be testing GloomyBoy's ROM soon.
Any help with the Colored Icon Bar ?

Thanks mate. I'll work on it later this afternoon. I just got a new 2400ah battery and I need to modify the Charging cradle so the phone can sit on it with the new thicker battery. Hope I can get 5 hrs use I've read otherwise, but I'll keep the hopes alive. EgzThunder is also a very resourceful man. I'm sure he has on his back pocket a working battery bar (Oh Don't think I'm being lazy)
