button for comm manager - P3600 General

Hello,
Is there a way to allocate a button for teh comm manager in trinity the same as in the TYTN?
Thanks,
udi

As you know, there are only 3 assignable buttons on the Trinity, B1, B2 and B1 Press/Hold.
To get one of those assigned to Com Manager, you need to create a shortcut to Comm Manager in the Programs file, from where you can use the Button Control Panel to assign the function.
Open a File Manager (if using File Explorer, make sure Options/ Show All Files is selected; even with this however, you can't see file extensions, which makes the process tricky!- better to use Resco or Total Commander) and navigate to My Device/Windows. Look for CommManager.exe and Tap/Hold and select Copy from the context menu that pops up.
Now navigate to Windows/Start Menu/Programs and then Menu/Edit/Paste Shortcut. This will place the shortcut in the Programs folder. You may need to rename it to remove the 'Shortcut to..' prefix, though Resco doesn't prefix it anyway.
From there, go Start/Settings/ Buttons and do the reassignment.

thanks a lot!!

CommManager on Hard button?

Tried to assign CommManager to a hardbutton but had no luck, any reghacks or similar that I can do to assign it f.ex HOLD Audio REcord button?
Go to windows directory and you can find CommManager.exe file. Create a short cut and copy to "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" . Now Comm Manager will apear in your available programs list. No go to Settings --> Buttons and assign it to any button you want.

Click to collapse
I used Resco Explorer.
Find windows/commeneger.exe and in Resco Eplorer choose "send to start menu as shortcut. (or something like this)
After this you can assign to any hardbutton
double.........
Thanks alot, now it works perfect!!!
Is CommManager.exe a hidden file? Using File Explorer I can't see it in my Windows directory....
Yes it's cool to have a shortcut for commanager, but I am only able to configure the voice and the camera button. Isn't there a way to configure "press and hold" in one of the other buttons as a shortcut? Is it possible to configure a shortcut directly to wifi on/off, instead of commanager (that would save me a couple of clicks every time I arrive home)?

Can I add a shortcut to Comms Manager to the Start/drop down menu?

Hi
Can I add a shortcut to Comms Manager to the Start/drop down menu?
I turn Wifi on and off a lot and it would be eaiser to use the menu.
Thanks
You need to open File Explorer and then in the menu select 'Show All Files'; better still use Total Commander, or Resco File Explorer
Navigate to My Device/Windows and find CommManager.exe; tap/hold it and select 'Copy'
Now navigate to Windows/Start Menu/Programs and select Menu/File/Copy Shortcut. This will place a link in Start/Programs. If you used Resco, the link will be called CommManager; if you use File Explorer, it will be called 'Shortcut to CommManager' which could do with shortening, so go back to Windows/Start Menu/Programs, find the 'Shortcut to..' entry, Tap/Hold it and select Rename.
Once the file is in Programs, you need to go to Start/Settings/Menu from where you can select a Checkbox for any file in Programs, which will then appear in the main Start dropdown, but be aware that you can only have a max of 7 entries, so you may need to disable one.
If you already have less than 7 entries, you can copy the shortcut directly into Windows/Start Menu, but if you have 7 or more, the operation will fail.
I use AE button plus to map wi-fi on/off toggle to a button. I also use wi-fi a lot and that saves me a lot of taps. (I map long press on one of the softkeys to do it and the other to toggle silent mode).
Thanks Neil.
All working!

how to assign executable file on certain button?

some software is green. they don't require installation.
Hence they won't appear in the assign program list for 'assigning to button'.
Is there any way we can assign such 'green' software to hard button?
create a shortcut to the executable in the start menu (using resco explorer)
then you can find it in the buttons-dialog on the settings page

Comm Manage on wing

Is there a way to set my (hold) mail button or (hold) voice button to a comm manager button? I tried to set it as a tab in HTC Home but, when I go to add it it doesn't show up under programs? As anyone figured this out. I really like to just use a button to turn on my wifi instead of navigate around in start menu.
Thanks for your time.
my Button 5 is set to Comm manager and it works perfectly, i have it on my list, check again
Yeah, I've looked through and through the list for setting the buttons and I can't find comm mananger? I wonder if there is some way of adding it to the list?
Normally if u add a shortcut to Windows/Start Menu/Programs u should be able to select it
thanks. that sounds like it might work.
How to I add a shortcut to programs though?
if u have a program like Total Commander you can go to \Windows\CommManager.exe
then go to File >>>>>> (A) > Create Shortcut and put the shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Hope that helps, GL

Awesome. Yeah. I used Total Commander. I went and found the .lnk file for comm manager and copied it into the windows folder that had all the other programs in it. Then it worked. I should of thought of this. For some reason I spaced it. Thanks for your help.

New to HTC Pure

Question about setting up my Pure... I am using (rather happily I might add) PocketPutty for WM to connect to my hosts back at the office.
Well, there is no installer for putty and therefore, it is not registered within the OS. How can I add a shortcut to putty.exe on my "Programs" tab? Whenever I try to "Add" a shortcut to a program, putty does not show up.
I'm using the stock TouchFlo installation.
I would recommend getting total commander to make shortcuts easier... but if you're gonna use the stock file explorer:
1. click-hold on putty.exe to bring up the menu
2. select "Copy"
3. navigate to \windows\start menu\programs
4. find a blank spot & click-hold
5. select "Paste a shortcut"
Now, you can add it to your programs tab
navigating to the windows folder may take 4 years, s'why I recommend something like total commander.
