Is it possible to have 2 sim cards with 1 account? I have a carPC and my daily phone in the 8525. But i use it to connect to the internet in my car. I was wondering I have another 3G phone and was wondering if i can have another sim card with the same exact account. I was to permanently connect the phone to the carPC and use that as DUN. Main reason is so i dont have to keep swapping the SIM cards....

It's not, but you could get a cradle for your phone and have it connected through your car PC. Use a phone profile program to launch internet connection sharing each time your cradle your phone, and you'll have internet via your car PC.

Something like Phone Alarm will work. I believe SPB Phone Suite will auto-change the profile as well.
I have 2 orange phones in the uk on the same account. seperate sims different numbers, both share the same account/texts/talktime etc.. Its a business account, maybe speak with your oporator.

Hi all,
I've just received my Vario II on upgrade yesterday; so far so good...
Just would like to know if anyone's web & walk internet connection has been capped/disconnected as a result of using instant messenger software or using the device as a USB modem?
Many thanks in advanced.
they used to not check. now I think they block the port. So don't count on using MSN at all.
If you want to use MSN 3 do a scheme for £5 a month. Even better, O2 have fabulous new unlimited data tariffs just by adding £10 a month to a voice tariff - this is the best deal at the moment

Have you got info on this O2 £10/unlimited data tariff? Couldn't find anything on their site...
MSN works for me on W&W basic, on it now
I've been using msn on the device and using the device as a modem. All works fine but I just wanted to know how long until T-mobile find out!
I dunno if you realise that using the phone as a modem - it is classed as a datacall and not web'n'walk - so you will be charged accordingly.
I found out this the hard way! I moved house recently so have been using VarioII/pc for internet - good speeds - got hammered on the bill though!
Cheers

It shouldn't matter whether you are using the device directly or connecting to a laptop/pc as a USB modem- should never be charged for it; it's still using the same connection.
I used it yesterday for about 2 hours connected to my laptop and happened to check my bill online this morning and no charges have been applied.

Hey,
without trying to sound patronising, I believe the reason you got charged for a data call is because you didn't set the modem up correctly. In order to access the proper GPRS/UMTS connection you need to specify the number as *99# which tells the phone to route the connection through its internal modem. Any other method would cause the phone to make an actual phone call (which can still accept data, this is how I used to connect my first PDA to the wonders of the internet). As long as you route through *99# there should not be any way for T-Mobile to tell that you are going through the computer.
Regards,
Phil
PS: Just noticed you said you were getting good speeds, how exactly did you set that connection up?
yep I agree with herman3101...
as for speeds, I'm currently getting about 220kbps- thats 3g is it not? it is a perferctly acceptable speed for general internet browsing- although high speed access would be good too!
220 kbps is UMTS ... which can be 3G if you want to call it that ..
HSDPA which will be in the range of 800-1000 Kbps
I am in the same boat, i really wanna use my MDA Vario 2 as a modem over the cable connection to my computer, i was reading a guide on it, the problem i have is that when i go to control panel on the computer, modem and phone options and to the modem lis i have an unknown connection but i cant click on the properties of it. Is this a problem if i have activesync on there too?
@cakonopka:
As long as you disable all ActiveSync connections from the system tray icon you should be ok.
Click on the 'wireless modem' option on the PDA; make sure the APN settings are correct for your provider and country.
Click on the menu button and click 'Start'; now connect the PDA to the PC (making sure AS is off and your applications/modem driver cd is in the drive). The PC should auto recognise the device and search driver from the cd. That should be it- check in modem/phone connections and it should read something like HTC USB modem.
Setup a new connection with the number *99# with no username or password.
You should be ready to go!

HI, i just recently got the htc xv6900 from verizon, but i didn't get the internet plan. Is their any way for me to get internet through bluetooth or anything else? Any answer would help thanks
Anyone? plzzzzzz
Not that I know of.
you're not asking if you can be online when active syncing are you which you can. There's ways to active sync through blue tooth and I'd guess you can be online that way also but I haven't done it.
i have the sprint version (basically the exact same unit) with evdo service, but when i dont want to use it, i active sync via BT to my computer -- which has inet connection.
once the connection is established, then yes, u can get internet on the vogue. other than that, no other real way i guess...
for the activ sync could you guys tell me step by step how to do this? and my computer comes with bluetooth so i don't need a dongle right? OO and thanks for the replyes
No internet plan
You could also buy a microsd card that is a wifi adapter. Unless someone has cooked a rom that unlocks the WIFI capabilities
set the active sync to com7 and have ur BT dongle connect to ur fone.
thanks for the respons i will try it out as soon as possible
There is no wifi on the cdma vogue
Alright now i just got the usb sync with the xv6900 and i got internet. So i decided to use the bluetooth, but i was wrong: i don't have bluetooth on my desk top so i'm soon going to go to staples to buy a bluetooth adapter. I'll keep you guys updated. THANKS for all your help guys.
WOW guys!!! THanks for all of your advicess. I got the D-link Bluetooth Adapter DBT-120 for 30 bucks. And WOW it works. Not only is the internet fast, but it's free. I just plugged it in and installed in my besktop (with the given CD) and BAM it works. On the program just set it to recieve any invite. So far i've been to pocket youtube, and weather bug. Do you guys know off any good sites for games and wat not?? Thanks
Got mine today. Problems so far....
Did the same old trick with a new phone - copied contacts to sim, insert Sim in X1 and then copy them to 'contacts;. I now have duplicate names. How do I delete the SIM copy, OR just use the Phone copy. I am a Nokia girl and am struggling big time to find out how you can chose between the two.
Secondly, I have a TOMTOM 700 go. Tried to pair them tonight. Got a DUN incompatible message from TOMTOM for Traffic etc. HELP. How can I get them to talk to each other so I can use my paid for subscriptions.
Thirdly, I have a VISEOo blue tooth gizmo in my car. Is this going to work with the X1. There are all sorts of connectivity and I'm not sure which to chose.
guess i can help with the first one, install the XperiaTweak v1.6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440035
Main>disable Show SIM-contacts in contact list
Done
have you tried the internet sharing program? Are you trying to pair the 700 through bluetooth?
there's also some apps around, some free some paid that enable a win mobile device to act as a wifi router if that's any use.

Yes I am trying to pair the 700 Go with bluetooth. How can I get round this - not sure how to enable the X1 as a wifi router? Not terribly technical!

I deleted my successful connection, that wouldn't allow me to use the Plus services to try and replicate what goes on.
I go to Manage Phones on the Tomtom. It searches and finds the phone finds the phone. The phone then tells me that TOMTOM wants to connect to my phone & asks me to add it to my device list. It then asks for the 0000 code which I input - I normally have to repeat this a few times at 40%. Finally got there to get this message on the TOMTOM
"This phone does not report wireless data connection (DUN) capabilities. TomTom Plus services cannot be used with this phone"
On my TomTOm now it says that all plus services 'are not supported'
Help!
ANYONE?
hi,
does anybody know if we can use internet from pc on the x1 via bluetooth...
i tried finding on google but in vain...can anybody help me regarding this...
ps: i am aware that we can use internet connection via usb cable...what i want to know is that can we use it via bluetooth...and whats the procedure...
thanks in advance...
so many views and no replies???
i really only think it will work the other way around. if you have 3g using the x1 as a bluetooth modem so you can get internet on your pc. unless you have a highspeed internet connection on your pc that isn't already wireless, in which case you can buy a usb wifi adapter for pretty cheap. i dunno if this was any help...
bleh. disregard most of that. i'm sleepy... i only read half. yes it is possible to use your phone as a bluetooth modem though
thanks dude...
the thing is that i hav a really fast pc connection and its cheap...whereas the phone internet service is costly...so i was just wondering if its possible...(net fron pc to phone via bluetooth)
thanks anyways...cheers
Actually there is a way.....
If you establish an bluetooth active-sync connection.
You should be able to surf the net via the bluetooth connection...
But it is still more efficient to go by wi-fi....
Stuart
awesome dude...ill check it rightaway..thanks
doesnt work...detects the serial port..but connection fails..
I know that with Palm OS PDA we used Mocha PPP, perhaps you can give it a try.
Else perhaps an adhoc connection if you want to try Wifi.
yes being connected to activesync with bluetooth give the phone the network access of the pc
been doing it since i had an old wm2003 device
or you can do this if you dont want to use activesync

Try initial the BT detection from yr PC (or the other way as I don't remember.). The "serial port" will be replaced w/ ActiceSync eventually.
It does work but it depends on your contract
The carrier company can tell if you are browsing through your phone or using internet sharing. I am on O2 and it does not have this, but if I put my T-Mobile sim card in, it works fine. PC's use higher bandwidth and this costs the mobile companies.
If you want to use it, I recommend using the USB lead as bluetooth and 3G connection will abuse your battery.
To use, press start, programs internet sharing. You can only use it if you have activesync on your pc, USB mode is activesync and your mobile provider lets you.
DAN
danjwalker
he want to do the opposite he want to surf using his computers internet not
letting his computer use his phone internet
so i was right the first time. all he needs is a usb wifi adapter.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Wi-Fi_USB_Connector
something kind of like that
and you won't even have to use bluetooth after you set it up. just turn on your wifi in the comm manager

This method may not work anymore since PAN client is being removed in recent WM release. You may need to try this to get PAN client working. I posted my working experience over there w/ my Att tilt. But this method require a lot more effort to get it working compare to activesync.

i thought the bluetooth internet sharing only works one way...?
if you go to internet sharing on the phone, you choose bluetooth pan and then a connection that your phone uses to connect to the internet. that's not what he wants. someone correct me if i'm wrong and there's another way to do this bc i'm really not sure.
Hi Guys,
I've got a question with WP7.. usually with 6.5 when i plug the USB cord to my phone i can do internet sharing from my pc to my phone. For some reason I cant seeemed to get internet access when i plug the usb to my phone.
Did anyone manage to get this working on WP7?
please help
it does it automatically, assuming you have zune installed, setup and connected and not blocked by a firewall

How do you get zune to do that? I just tried it on my laptop, turned of my wifi nad plugged in my phone, let it sync, etc. No internet connection though. I looked around on zune for a tethering option but the only thing I found was a "linking" option, and when I clicked it, it said my phone is not compatible with that software.
Edit: Nevermind, I read the first post wrong, I though it said to PC from Phone.
Hey Gus sorry to say but it is not working on my HD2. I have WP7 on HD2. My device is not activated. I want to use PC's internet on my HD2 so that i can save the data charges on 3g connection. Please help me to share PC's internet connection on the phone.

Nope, the method doesn't work. Phone activated, recognised by Zune etc etc. But the internet connection is not shared. For example, if I were to download free apps, they will get installed using my 3G connection and using my data. Same with Android. For those of us without home Wi-Fi and expensive 3G plans it gets quite pricey to flash or hard reset every time. I get 100Mb for $10 a month.

If I connect phone to PC and run Zune, go to settings turn off wifi, go to settings/ mobile network and switch off Data connection and 3G connection. Then I can use internet in IE9. What else can it be but the PC's connection?
For Android, you need a ROM with internet pass through, or try http://www.connectify.me/ (i haven't tried it) it might help.
I hope this works for you and saves $
I'm interested in connecting PC through mobile's internet.
I've seen that Mango have mobile hotspot function built in, but it's dependent on mobile provider.
Is there any cab to switch on wireless hotspot?
