I removed all of this from my registry and no Activesync or Hotmail now listed, this works for me as i dont bother with either of them, I use GPRS to check me mail and never use hotmail, figured it was time for them to go.
Even though they are no longer visible in the Inbox app, they still appear in Pocket Breeze, anyone help out further?
Below is the 3 sets of backups i made during removal
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ActiveSync]
"FriendlyName"="Outlook E-mail"
"UserCannotCreate"=dword:00000001
"DLL"="syncmgr.dll"
"Name"="ActiveSync"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ActiveSync\MsgClasses]
"IPM.Note"=dword:00000001
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\Hotmail]
"UserCannotCreate"=dword:00000001
"Port"=dword:00000000
"DefMsgClass"="IPM.Note"
"SupportedMsgClasses"="IPM.Note"
"DLL"="pMSNHotmail.dll"
"Name"="Hotmail"
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Pocket MSN]
"Link"="Pocket MSN.lnk"
"Domains"="hotmail.com;passport.com"
My aim is to remove all mail accounts except the 3 i use, ie my POP3, SMS and MMS, which is what I now have in my Inbox, just not everywhere else so far
Good jobs.
Sorry, how did you remove them?
exactly, in the examples that you posted here, there are no changes to the original registry.
no no no, they are the keys i removed totally from the registry, they were cut + pastes from my backup files.
soz for confusion
Amazing! Works great. Thanks a lot
i know this seems a bit trivial but have you tried removing pocket breeze, doing the changes then re-installing ? i think pocket breeze creates all its headers etc when it installs?
its a good theory unfortunatly i wont be able to try it unti tomorrow night, godda do a bit of travelling

didn't work with me
I've done this but I no longer get notifications when I receive a text message
Yeah!! I have the same problem!!! What´s wrong?
I simply removed the hotmail registry entry in
HKLM\Software\Mircosoft\Inbox\Svc
I can't see a need to remove the other entries as Active Sync and MSN Messenger are not displayed in my list of inboxes.
However, I do not use Pocket Breeze.
I'm guessing the active sync keys are responsible for your alert notifications?
Just sent a text message to my phone, i'm still receiving the notifications on arrival so i'm pretty sure its the active sync reg keys you've removed.
What?
How would I re-add this?
it works great..
but now I have hotmail1 account!!!!!???
causes Problems with Pocket Outlook
Just for the record:
another nasty little side effect of removing the ActiveSync-Registry items posted above is that Pocket Outlook will crash on load.
If you use alternative means of sending and receiving SMS thats no biggie, but I thought I'd mention it.
(slightly off-topic: )
By the way, has anyone resolved the issue with tmail.exe and 3rd party apps for sending SMS? I can send them through pocket Outlook, but not through any 3rd party apps (Flexmail, Pocket Informant etc...).
This Knowledge Base article suggests it's an OS-Issue, so I thought I'd ask you guys...

Is there a whay do hide certain contacts, the treo did this by selecting a private option per contact.
can I do through outlook or my phone or do I need a different app?

Howdy - this has been a gripe of mine with PPC/WM as well. There's no way to set them private from a WM device (or Outlook Web Access for that matter). I have a query in to the folks at SBSH who make Contact Breeze to see if the ability exists behind the seens that they could expose in their interface..I've yet to hear back from them. It's a real bummer because my contact list is replicated to other users on my Exchange server(business stuff), and any time I create a personal contact I have to go in to Outlook to flag it private to prevent replication to the others.
MS typically gets it 95% right, never 100%. Remember when we couldn't sync tasks to an Exchange account because MS didn't think users would find it useful? =) I think the number of requests they got for that one got em moving, hence Exchange SP2 and WM5 enabled task syncs.
Thank you for the respons.
It's is a bummer you can'y hide specific contact's.
I guess i have to delete contatct's of my phone and resync at a leter time, thats my only option.
Thanks it worked..
how about you stop cheating on your girl
lol j/k
and any other part of the phone, like Messages, Tasks or My Videos or My Pictures?
To clarify, I mean a program that would prompt for a password whenever the Contacts list or whatever was accessed.
No one?
Yes, I would defintely be interested in a program like that. Does anyone know of such a program

Good idea man. I know what you mean! Did you have someone look at your phone and say "Hey, cool phone dude!" Then start going through your folders and such like it was theirs? hahahahaha. That's probably happened to everyone!
This doesn't hide pictures but hides contacts and sms
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Security/Utilities/Eye-On-Privacy-Pocket-PC-25954.shtml
Eye On Privacy 0.61
Overview: Eye On Privacy is most suitable tool to protect your private and sensitive infomation such as contacts, call history, tasks and SMS.When someone wants to see the information, a correct password is needed. If the password is incorrect, the information can not be shown.
Besides these basic functions, Eye On Privacy also has "Fake SMS", "Urgent SMS" function to give you advanced protection.
For hiding pictures you could install resco explorer and use the encrypt function to password protect them,so i reckon that covers all that you asked
or you could use pocket privacy
With PocketPrivacy you can hide your personal private data: contacts, tasks, appointments, databases, document files, programs, voice recording files, images, photos, music files, notes, Pocket Word and Pocket Excel files.

thanks for this
Alright, I flashed the latest Dopod firmware on my 838Pro, and decided to configure MSN. But for some reason I had no option not to sync the contacts to my contact list, and now my contact list is all messed up with all the random emails and ****, and I can't even organise it to show phone contacts on top, and the rest below.
So how the hell do I remove all this crap or is there a way to just show SIM contact list? I can't even install the cab to select multiple contacts.
yeah ms really screwed up with that one

When you run the setup for Live Messenger, you get an option "Sync Messenger Contacts with Outlook" or something similar. Just don't select it. It does require removal and reinstallation of the Live Messeger though.

I want to use Live Messenger, but if I disable that they refuse to let me run the Messenger.
If you have your contacts set to save to your SIM card, they're going to be quite nasty looking in the phone and Messenger won't be able to work with them. Judging by what the original poster said, I think this is the real problem here.
As far as Messenger goes, just don't use it. Install OctroTalk, which has MSN, AIM, Yahoo, and Google messengers built in.

Nice link. I was trying the IM+ Trial, but this looks even better cause it's free.

Is there really no other workaround? I want to use MSN Messenger and use my stupid retarded emoticons...
Yes, don't save your contacts on your SIM card.
What I did is add-ed al my contacts in live.com>contacts and then I sign in mobile msn and trala; it automatically adds all my contacts on my phone. I dont have any problems with wlm anymore, I love it!
bah!!!!!!!!!
I decided to add the msn contacts .. so i could use the stupid WLM.. so i add them to my contacts and delete them one by one.. little do i know..i also delete them off the msn server.. now i have noone in my contact list when i login on my pc as well..
Smart idea! any ideas on how to get them back?

Wouldn't there be duplicate entries as well anyway?
Bump. Anyone got a good alternative to recommend?
Any "hack" or something like that?
Never gonna let you down, never gonna say goodbye...
Anyone?
This issue is killing me too. After exhaustive googling, it seems that there is no way around it now. I can't tolerate all the random hotmail contacts from my buddy list stuck in my contacts. Guess I'll just have to use something else. Really wish I could use the functionalities of WLM though. Freaking M$ can't make anything right.
You could always download the older stand-alone MSN Messenger software and use it instead of Windows Live. It's not quite as nice but I'm guessing most of you are just using the text chat functionality of the software anyway.

On your pc, goto tools -> options or whatever, find the page where you can see which you have blocked and which you have not, then right cick on the top one on the unblocked ones, and select add to contacts (or something similliar)
then nr.2 on the list and so on
I'm not even bother useing MSN live.. Just go to the standard MSN for now... Waiting for them to find a way to filter your msn live on your contract list.... Someone go complain... ahahah

Would you mind repeating what you said there.. with WAY more detail? I want to be sure I understand what you're saying... sounds like... create a group in your MSN account for your contacts. Move everyone into this group, and then when you launch WLM, it creates that same group in your contact list and only puts all of those e-mail addresses into that group. Is that right?
Does anyone know of a contact manager that lets me have contatcs in multiple groups: i.e. Friends, Family, Work etc?
Thanks

what do you mean by groups? as a method to filter your list or just to sort the list.
I edited my contacts to put those topics(work, friends, kids friends, restaraunts, utilities, etc) in as "Company" and then sort by company
look at pocketCM for a freebie
Look at SBSH Pocketbreeze or SPB Diary for a retail app

By groups I mean similar to how WLM works - in that you have have several groups exanded or collapsed with contacts in each. SPB Diary looks like it has that option, but it only seems like it works from the today screen - rather than a seperate app like the default contact manager.
SBSH has a seperate contact manager "ContactBreeze"
OK, ready to be flamed!
Why not just use the standard Outlook Contact app? You can assign each person to one (or more) categories and then filter it to just show one particular category. Saves installing more software on your phone!
