UAE: Best Radio version?

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who posts to this forum - I've been reading it for a month or so now and am constantly impressed with the quality of the knowledge here, especially the developers...
I have a QTEK 1010 bought here in Dubai, UAE, with the following device info:
ROM version: 4.00.01 ENG
ROM date: 05/16/03
Radio version: 3.23.01
Protocol version: 32S54
I have found that browsing using IE feels slower, and have the feeling that this version of the ROM does not work well with the radio version. Does anyone reading this forum live in the UAE? I'd like to upgrade the Radio, but need to know which version works best with Etisalat (our Telco).
Any comments much appreciated!

hi, i am from dubai and i am using 4.00.1 from t-mobile and 4.21 from o2, so far everything fine just when i reset the t-mobile logo appears.
do you have bluetooth option in that version and your version was already installed or you upgraded yourself?

Use the o2 Radio Version 4.21 it will work fine...

Thanks for the responses guys. Does this new radio version provide any benefits over the one I have?

1) The QTEK does not support Bluetooth, and there is no way to make it work on a QTEK either.
2) There is no Bluetooth option in any of my menus or settings (I would expect this as my device does not support Bluetooth). Windows PPC2003 is supposed to be able to support Bluetooth, however: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/products/pocketpc/about/2003/bluetooth.mspx
3) I upgraded to the 4.00.05 version of Windows PPC2003 myself using Jeff's ROM Kitchen (thanks Jeff!) http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/ROMkitchen/

Hi, Once i had 4.00.01 and in connection setting i had Bluetooth option but ofcourse it was not working, the other thing is do you know any camera work with SD port of Qtek? i mean something availble in the market.
4.21 is more stable i think.

I had some problems when making calls on my QTEK yesterday. While in a voice conversation audible clicking noises can be heard and after about 1 minute of conversation the quality of the call deteriorates until the other party cannot hear me. I'll try upgrading the radio...
I don't know about the camera support using the SD slot in the QTEK. My first instinct would be to say no, it's not possible, but I can't confirm that...

I bought a Qtek 1010 in Dubai Duty Free the other week. I've since upgraded the ROM using ROMkitchen and am delighted with it. One thing I did notice though is that the speakerphone functionality (claimed in the Qtek handbook) doesn't seem to work. I didn't try it before I upgraded so can someone tell me if it works with the native UAE ROM code, and if so does anyone have any idea how I could get it working again?

I own a QTEK in the UAE and here is my share to those asking about OS and Radio updates here:
I upgraded from
ROM version: SER 1.2
Radio version: 3.23.01
To
ROM version: 4.00.10 ENG (T.Mobile Test)
Radio version: 4.21.00 (O2 UK)
Everyting seems to work fine apart from 2 minor issues so far:
Make sure you set your band to 900Europe as the default is 1900North America in phone/tools/options
The signal fades out sometimes but doznt affect the reception
No G signal but GPRS is OK.
GPRS stays connected; have to turn phone off and on to disconnect.
Advice:
Read a lot before you upgrade. This forum has a wealth of information.

SMS problems with 2003 4.10

hello all, I wanted to know if anyone else is having problems with the new tmobile rom version regarding SMS's. It appears that on many occasions my pda sends out the same sms twice. Also many times the SMS arrives garbled up in both my pda and at the person whom I have sent it to.

Nope never had nor seen this problem with the new T-Mobile ROM!
What radio version are you running also confirming that this is happening after a fresh install and not from a restore from backup?.

This is on a fresh install of WM2003 via SD.
Another thing I noticed today is that when I am on a call and I receive another call, I dont here a call waiting tone. The incoming call is shown on the screen but I do not here a tone, is there a setting within WM2003?

Look at your 3rd party apps...
I had the same problem and ended up narrowing it down to an issue with Pocket Plus. I've updated to the latest version and all is well again....for now...

Latest and greates Skype :-( - Warning!!!

I installed latest Skype version, the one that is "compatible" with I-Mate...
The result for starting this program, for me at least - HARD RESET...
Just a warning for everybody to make sure, that if you decided to try it - do not do it far from your home/office where you have your back up...

It was just a warning from me.... may be you have previous version...

This version of Skype is known to work well on XDA. It works for me as well. Maybe its the 1.72 on your XDA. I have an older ROM. Thanks for the feedback

You mean Skype finally made a voice working over GPRS? That exactly what I was planning to test today May be will give another try later today...

maybe he have a wifi card
voice over that is suppose to work just fine

Skype over GPRS is big NO for me. I can heat another party OK, but hey can't hear me at all

M3100 Incoming call problems

I have just recently bought a M3100 (second hand) and am having some problems receiving incoming calls.
Things I have done:
1. The phone was locked to Orange, so I ran the superb tools on this site to SIM & CID unlock the phone, inserted my T-Mobile SIM and all seemed OK.
The phone working for about a day on incoming and out going calls fine, I then started to add various software I have used in the past (magic button, pocket infomant, ewallet, sprite backup etc). I then discovered I could not get any incoming calls, but could make outgoing calls OK.
2. I then decided to update the ROM to the latest Orange ROM from the orange website (not knowing if the previous owner of the phone had modified something). This came up with an error and hence used Extract NBH, Customer RUU as per previos posts on this site which all seemed to work OK.
Just for information when I orginally tried to upgrade the ROM, the boot screen said SPL 1.4 olipro ?
3. Even with this new ROM (phone sill unlocked), the incoming calls don't seem to work very often.
I am a newbie to all this, so is this problem due to the radio software, or have I just got a faulty phone ?

You have read the mrvanx guide I take it, if not click it on my signature. Have you installed the latest hard SPl v7? and what radio version are you using, because each time you upgrade the rom the radio does not change and you need to upgrade this seperately. I need more info.

Site should be back on soon, best to wait. The radio version you have is not the newest but should be ok. Try a hard reset while you are waiting to see if this helps.

No Notification problem

Hi friends.Just got a new wizard for myself few days back I am sorry if this has already been covered.I have tried to search but with no luck at all.
I am facing a strange problem ever since i got the phone.The problem is that when someones sends an sms to me,i receive no notification on my phone.The sender gets a delivery report for the sms but I cannot see the sms on the phone.There is neither any notification nor is it visible in inbox.But this problem is only intermittent i.e it happens only some times.At other times,everything works as it should.This issue also happens at times when someone calls me.The phone rings at their end but i see no notification/no missed call..nothing..
Will updating Radio version help ?
Currently using:
ROM Version 2.16.9.1 WWE
Radio Version: 02.07.10
IPL: 2.16
SPL: 2.16
Any ideas ?

To me, that sounds more like a network problem than a device problem, especially since it's intermittent. You should probably call and report the problem to your service provider and see what they have to say.

The radio version seems .. not too good. What ROM are you using? try using an official ROM? Try using my version of Radio.

Exactly what i thought! I am using T-Mobile 2.26 currently with radio 2.25.11!! Just found out that i am not the only one facing the issue..Read a few threads..The next thing i am going to try is 2.19.11 Radio!!
Will report back with the result...Thanks anyways guys

Tried T-Mobile 2.19.11 radio rom along with both Black Diamond 2.0 (WM6) as well as AKU 3.3 (Farias WM5).Missed calls and smses on both Anything else to try ?

I have tried almost every possible radio rom! Could it be that my radio hardware is faulty ? Please help me..This problem is driving me nuts!!

Sorry for bumping such an old thread. Just wanted to say that I changed my sim-card and miraculously, the problem disappeared. Just posted so that it can help someone with a similar issue
