Hey there, I've got a .divx file on my storage card, but WMP won't recognise it, I'm using Black 3.0 (I know, I haven't upgraded to Dymond yet, I've only just gotten the device settings finished as I'm new to this whole scene)
How can I get the bugger to read it?
WMP doesnt have the divx codec so therefor cannot play them back.
Try using TCPMP instead.
I suspected as much, where does TCPMP reside exactly?
No need, found it, here's a link if anyone else needs it:

It is available here:- http://tcpmp.en.softonic.com/pocket

TCPMP is no longer supported, it has changed name to Coreplayer and its payware, but the ones in that page still work just as well.
Oh well!!! my link was better than yours mrvanx, Hee Hee!
TCPMP not working
I installed TCPMP under WM6 (and I copied the WM5 dlls), but TCPMP just won't start up. Zip nil niada. Doesn't even appear in Running Programs. I have soft reset.
Any ideas ?
TIA, DBo.

Since I have installed WM6, and I have tried all 3 of them, I am having trouble playing WMV files on my Uni. The video for the first 10 seconds is non existant, the next 10 choppy and after that it is fine. If I skip to a point half way through a video it starts the non-existant/choppy thing all over again. I have also noticed that during use the available memory drops to about 4.5MB, although I think this is normal.
I have tried installing TCPMP and it won't play any audio for the WMV files and locks up after the first second of playback, resulting in a soft reset to get the ball rolling again.
All the videos played faultlessly on any of the previous versions.
Has anyone else had any problems of this nature?
Thanks,
Pug.
Well I managed to "fix" TCPMP and Coreplayer. It appears to be the wma9pro wmv9pro decoder dlls. They seem to use a lot of processing power and memory. I extracted the old dlls off one of Ivans 3.5 ROMs, placed them in the Windows folder and everythings good with coreplayer and TCPMP. Just need to sort WMP out now.
In case anyone else needs them here they are. Just extract to windows folder.

Everytime i drag and drop my avi videos onto my storage card and try to play it (either in TCPMP of WMP), my phone says something about unknown file format. It normally works when I sync with WMP, but sometimes i lose the connection..? What can i do?

Sounds strange, could be a codec problem? Try turning off file conversion in ActiveSync

The problem may just be in TCPMP settings. Go to options/settings/file associations, and check the box by video (AVI)
ive tried both, and they only seem to play through syncing with WMP...is it because i just renamed them from .rmvb to .avi? the others i did this too work fine

Are you on WM6 or WM5 ?
On wm6, the wm9 codecs have different names....
Or other thing that can be, is your codecs used for creating those video
What software do you use to convert the videos ?
im in wm6. is that the problem? and if so, how can u fix it/downgrade back to wm5? and i use WMP to sync and convert, it used to work a while ago

I don't think that's the problem afterall.
The Windows Media Player should play those files that you can't play in tcmp
anyway the fix for missing wmv9 codecs :
I don't remember the link, but do a search on the forum and you'll find 2 codecs for wmw9 wich you have to copy in the windows folder
Sorry I couldn't be of more help
you mean the windows folder on my phone, right?
P.S. still wont work, just copied files into windows folder. not even TCPMP can play it, and u have to pay for the newer version . Shouldi just go back to WM5 so it's easier?
Well my media panel used to work fine. I could play music and watch the video clips that came with it. Now when I try to play music or watch videos the screen goes black like it's gonna start, then it just jumps back to the menu like nothing ever happened.
I think it's CorePlayer that's messing it up... must be something with the file extensions but I turned them all off and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
Well I guess I'll just hard reset and check the media panel after I install anything
I have the same problem. I always have Core Player installed. I just removed the media panel thinking it was sh*te
Same on my Xperia I think it was after i installed the Manila HD or the youtube cab.
I tried it with Uninstall the Manila HD but nothing happend.
i hope somebody will find a fix for the media panel, i really like it
PS: sorry for my bad english

have you install youtube by any chance recently?
it'll break the media panel, as well as the camera playback function.
if so, you may have to hard-reset, and install this version of youtube instead

that's until itje or daran release a fix on their respective CAB ...

unfortuantely, you need to hard reset in order for the CAB to work.
alternatively, if you do not wish to hard reset, change this registry to see if it'll help (this is the problematic registry, but this wouldn't undo the system files that are overwritten)
HKCU\CLSID\{C4EF1AB7-F52D-4e83-8C74-0C512FB7EA43}\InprocServer32
make sure Default=HTCSrcFlt3.dll (not HTCSrcFlt2.dll)
okay what is the right order if i hard reset my device ?

and this for installing the Manila Panel.

somebody has reported that the manila cab with the built-in youtube will not break 3gp/mp4 playback, are you not experiencing the same?
my CAB is tested with TF3DHD by Daran, and you can install my Youtube CAB, TF3DHD and TF3D Panel CAB in any order. You don't need to install any other CAB such as Dshow or mHubVO, and in fact, I've not tested if these other CABs (other than TF3DHD and Panel) will break the CAB that I have put together.
PS: I hardcode the installed files to \Windows directory, if your German ROM uses a different Windows directory name, I need to change.
OMG sorry for the trouble i testet another mp3 file (the standart one) and it worked.
but i dont understand this my music worked a few day ago andnow they wont work
well sorry for that
same problems to me, too.
most time the x1 player will not start selected mp3.
it jumps back to track selection. but once, the player played a few pieces of songs.
i will check the reg hint, today.
This works!!

This registry fix does in fact work. I applied it and both the native video camera player and the multimedia panel player worked. YouTube in the TF3D panel continued to work too.

I added the album art with mp3tag.
I used ID3 v2.3. I tried to use ID3 v2.4 but there are no album covers on the media panel so i returned to ID3 v2.3.
You can easy change that in options of mp3tag
ok guys
Instead of starting a new thread I'll post a comment here....
My problem is not a broken emdiapanel but a missing media panel.
I got a prototype from work(SonyEricsson) and it's one of the earlier prototypes and I'm missing a media panel on it. I tried to copy the media panel from the "program files" folder in a another Xperia phone, put that didn't work ofcourse....
So I'm wondering if there's a way to Impliment that panel???
I'm probably the only one with this problem but I'd appreciate help though
THANKS

see if it works if you create the following registry
hklm\software\sonyericsson\panelmanager\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel
Desc="The Media Xperience Panel"
DLL="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\MxPPanel.dll"
Landscape="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Landscape_Thumb.bmp"
LargeLandscape="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Landscape.bmp"
LargePortrait="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Portrait.bmp"
Led=0
Name="Media Xperience Panel"
Portrait="\Program Files\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxP_Portrait_Thumb.bmp"
RequiredVersion=100
I'll just post my problem here aswell then;
When I try to view a video trough the media panel, media player or the camera application it just gives me a lot of loud static sounds and a black screen.
When trying to use youtube it loads the name of the movies but when I click them it says "Error: Cannot play this video".
I think, judging from what others have said, that the TF3D cab is causing this problem. I still got the "old" one but I wouldnt understand why installing the new one would solve my problem (if it does; please let me know and I'll try it, just dont want to do anything reckless atm).
There's been some suggestions in this topic for registry fixes, would those work for me aswell? Also, I dont even know how to alter the registry in the first place..

Hi all
I hope all you Brits out there are enjoying the snow. My office is closed today so I thought I'd share my experience of using the BBC iPlayer. I believe it can work for you too, if you're UK based. N.B. at the moment it only works over WiFi. Don't blame me for that, it's the BBC's restriction on their website. Also, this worked on my Kaiser, so again no guarantees it'll work on other devices, but I see no reason why it wouldn't.
Here's what I did:
Install the Opera 9.5.15529 cab that are attached to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475986
You will also need HTC Streaming Media. I've attached a version available on this forum. I don't actually know whether this will work on your device as I have the sreaming media cooked into my ROM (see below). Obviously if you have a VGA device you should use the equivelant version of Opera for VGA devices.
There are two other files attached. ASPlayer.exe and ASPlayerLNK.lnk. ASPLayer.exe is infact VJBrisk.exe renamed from an installation of VJBrisk by Vijay555 and a renamed link to the sreaming media player application. If you are installing the Media Player app attached then you need to check the shortcut to ensure it's correct. The one attached is for the executible in the windows folder (\Windows\StreamingPlayer.exe). You can edit shortcuts on your device using TotalCommander.
Once you're happy that the link is correct, copy ASPlayer.exe and ASPlayerLNK.lnk to the \Windows directory of your device.
In Opera type: opera:config in the address bar. Scroll down to User Prefs and open this section. Go to Custom User-Agent. Here type "sgh-i900" without the quotes and then scroll down and select save. Exit Opera and restart it. Go to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer
in Opera and you will see the mobile iPlayer page load up. Select your chosen TV or Radio programme and click to play. The streaming app should now open and display your programme.
Hope this helps. I watched "Who do you think you are?" with Rory Bremner in bed this morning!
Best wishes
andrew-in-woking
Thank you for this tut, I have followed your instructions and all seem to be ok (I didn't watch a video but the streaming media did kick in when i clicked play.
I will test later and get back to you
I got as far as the file being played. Audio is fine, but no picture.
Any Ideas?

Hi
If the HTC Streaming Media doesn't work on the Xperia then you will need equivelant software. You could try the media player attached if nothing else works. Real player might work also. Obviously you'd need to manually edit the shortcut in this case but hopefully you can get it working.

Hi
Yes, this is the way the website behaves. Obviously the BBC believe that this is necessary at the moment as they'd rather no compromise on quality.
I guess for now this is not available for phones with no wifi connection. I'll change the first post to make this clearer.
Many thanks

Your post is it VGA or QVGA as sounds great
Almost there!
Thanks for your post, I'm using a Hermes wm6 with your htc streaming media installed. It opens up streaming media ok but then has an unknown error message (both for tv and radio). Could be running low on ram causing the problem. Also tried Skyfire but it doesn't like the IP address and doesn't recognise me as British. I am not giving up just yet though!
Just tried on a Touch... sound only however nothing at all on live streams (memory not an issue here, my ten year olds xmas pressie!)

Hi wapvirus
It's QVGA but should work with a VGA device as long as the correct streaming media player is installed and can be linked to the ASPlayer.exe shortcut in \Windows.
Hope that helps. Love your QVGA colour task bar items by the way!

i got 'unknown error' for the htc streaming media player on my lg ks20. Any ideas? how do i link it to the ASPlayer.exe?
Help me plz
Still tryin on my hermes, the best player to date was a dopod version (works perfectly.... but no video!!! Sounds great). After a little search I stumble on an updated tcpmp player which should play the files ok BUT how do I change the ASPlayer to use this as default, or do I change one of the Streaming Media files to use tcpmp ? It will not let me change the aslink.ink page and I presume we leave the opera setting on sgh-i900. I think I have at least 10 different media and streaming players now installed & have become very confused...

Hi redflag
The simple answer is that you need to edit the destination of the shortcut: ASPlayerLNK.lnk which you copy into windows along with ASPlayer.exe. This link can be edited with the file editor in Total Commander PPC. Hope that helps. If you're unsure about shortcut editing do a search for it on this forum.
Cheers

Success... kind of
Thanks for your reply, have taken a flood day off work! Total Commander is not letting me save the edited LNK.Ink file so I went back and had another go at Skyfire and have got it working on both my hermes and on a touch. The only disappointment is that ,whilst Skyfire uses the main iplayer site which allows downloads, it doesn't feature live tv which yours does by using the mobile site. Keep up the good work!
Had problems getting video to work but when I used this version of the HTC Streaming Player it all worked fine!

Just put the cab above onto your storage card (good idea to have a folder on there called "cabs" to archive all the ones you use/try), and then tap it to run and install the app. Once it's done, soft-reset (it may force you to anyway), and when the phone comes back on you'll find an icon for tcpmp in the start menu.
sorry if this is a dumb question.. what is a soft reset.. is that just a power off, and back on again? or is it something more complicated..
Nevermind.. I just installed it, and didn't need the soft reset (I also found out how to soft reset in an emergency.. the little button inside the back of the phone under the battery cover).
Thanks A LOT for the TCPMP.. you guys are awesome on here.
