2gb Mini SD Cards [Quick answer please!] - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I am buying some stuff from Amazon tonight, and was going to get a 2 gig card. Is there a list of compatible 2gb cards for the Wizard or will all of them work?
I see that the sandisk cards are more expensive, so was wondering if anybody had heard of Transcend.
I'd love it if somebody could answer pretrty quickly, as I need to make the order tonight.
Thanks!

There are different types of 2gb thoug, which to go for?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-M...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1180986993&sr=8-7
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-T...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1180986993&sr=8-6
They vary in price, but is there a real difference?

If I were to choose between the three, the first one would be the winner. The second two are the same one and only run at 45X. The first runs at a speed of 80X. So, if you want a faster, more responsive card, get the first. Sure it costs a bit more, but it's worth it, in my opinion.

yeah the speed no all the lectors read a 150x mini sd or 200x mini sd
well i recomend you the:2 link is like mine
enjoy it

Thanks for the replies, I decided to just spend more and go with a kingston 2gb.

I'm looking for one that is most compatible and can be used with GPS software as well as playing music. what is the minimum RW speed required to achieve this. thanks alot in advance
I have a SanDisk Extreme III 1GB SD card, but it is NOT working any harder than 1MB/s, so don't buy a quick one, cause it ain't gonna be quick.
anyway, my SD is working good, also with GPS maps, mp3's, etc.
[type]s/an/a[/typo]
I have the REgular Sandisk one and it works fine.

And what about KINGSTON 1GB (normal speed). Does it work fine?
I would recommend in this order-Apacer, Sandisk, Kingston, Panasonic and Kanguru. These are the most recommended. Well, if u will want to settle for any other than these.... well never choose Samsung. The opinion is mine.
I have this one:

Works fine.
I have a non-labelled 1gb sd, it works ok, and costs less (in fact it was the only 1gb in the store). I think they all come from the same factory, only the label changes. As the mini uses 1.1.usb, you can't get any advantage on 40x or 60x cards, so i suggest not to pay extra for that.

If you're using TomTom and want to see street names on the map while you are driving you need a faster than standard card.

As far as i know all SD cards are made from the same Manufacturer in Japan...
I guess it depends on what you really need - I can imagine, that it's better for navigation if you use a highspeed card. For normal use, a regular SD cards is enough (Brand doesn't matter)
more space is wished , but price is not acceptable yet like 4g sd card

Mini SD Card for X7501 Advantage

I just bought my X7501 Advantage from Amazon and I want to get a storage card but I had a few questions that I can't find the answers to (the first three).
1. What is an HC card (as in SDHC) and how is it different than an SD card that is a mini SD?
2. What is the biggest mini SD card available? I read on several sites that SanDisk was coming out with an 8GB this summer but I can't find it anywhere. Is it out yet and if not does anyone know if it will be in the next month?
3. Can a micro SD card be used in the X7501 Advantage with an adapter?
4. What cards do people like with the Advantage (that run fast/well)?
Thank you for your time and assistance.
1) HC stands for High Capacity. Think of it in terms of standard SD cards being formatted in FAT16 and the SDHC cards are FAT32.
2) As far as I have seen the 4GB SDHC Mini is still the largest although they reportedly can go to 8GB, 16GB and top out at 32GB but have not yet done so.
3) I have not tried micro SD, but using the micro in a mini adapter should look the same to the device. I believe that the limit on micro is 2GB at present.
4) I use the Transcend 4GB mini SDHC (2) of them from Meritline in California. They have been reliable. As for speed, I have not tested that as I have not had any application which demanded really high speeds.

I'm using the Kingston 4gb one in a x7501 from Newegg class 6 (might as well get the faster one, for the couple $ over the class 2 or 4)

Wow! Thanks for all the useful information both of you! One question. What is class 6 versus, 4, versus 2, etc. Does anyone know of a place where this is all explained? I take it class 6 is better. Is that right?
I really appreciate this. It helps a lot!

2 4 or 6 mb/sec speed rating .. 6 is better but not sure it makes much diff in the pda's, as they can't typicaly transfer as fast as the card is capable of.
more details at KINGSTON's web site

Memory card

Can any X1 user help me out, here?
My X1 should arrive tomorrow, and as far as i am aware, here in the UK we are not getting a memory card in the box.
So, Am i looking to buy a simple Micro SD card, or does this device support Micro SD HC?
Thanks for any useful answers. I just dont want to have to go and exchange after buying.

It supports microSDHC up to 32GB (when it's released).
yup, I'm using a 16gb micro SDHC card (can't wait for the 32gb to become available!)
I bought an 8gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card on Amazon for £14 and it works great in the X1
Thanks, peeps. I was thinking about getting 2 8Gb cards, so i'll probably check out Amazon, amongst others.
I find 2 cards better than just 1 for my own needs. Thats kinda why i needed confirmation of HC support.
Thanx again, and stay happy, all.

For me its kinda easy to lose those small cards. I have one in my phone and one in my laptop for ready boost and I always seem to forget there is a 4gig in my laptop.

It says that X1 supports microsdhc in the whitepaper. And I can also confirm that Sandisk 16Gb microsdhc works well in my X1.

Someone was mentioning that tracks tend to freeze with the 16gb when changing songs. Do you have this problem?

Micro SDHC Class 2 or 6 ?
Hi,
AFAIK the 16 GB Micro SDHC are currently only available with Class 2 speed.
Is this sufficient for the X1 ?
Or is there any advantage using a Class 6 Micro SDHC ?
AFAIK these are currently only available upto 8 GB like the SanDisk Mobile Ultra series.
Any recommendations?
Thanks you.

Andreas

Maximum GB that works smoothly in Elf..

Hey guys, I tried to search about this topic in the forum but I don'y anything about it or was it just already in pit of the forum?
Anyways, I would like to ask the maximum capacity of memory card for Elf(in)? I am planning to buy a micro-sd and I just want to buy the best available.
Does it support SDHC memory cards? And also, does using a large GB of memory presents a risk on my device to be brick when time goes on?
Thanks for the help guys!

I have 4gb micro sdhc and it works fine. I have heard that 8GB won't function properly after a while. But I am not a genius
SanDisk 8GB
I've been working with a SanDisk 8GB MicroSD HC for about 4 months now, and still have had no issues...
And that goes without saying that I think It's a fake SanDisk, because of the packaging.
Have an 8GB SanDisk on my Elfin. Works great.
@vette95: Good to hear that! Thanks for responding..
@htedum: how long have you bean using your 8gb micro-sd? Haven't experienced any problem yet? Any slow down or hangs?
i've been using 8gb in my elf for over a year and did not ever have any issues or hangs so i would recommend it.
just my 2 cents
Wow! Thanks bro for the feedback! Will buy 8gb now.. hehe..
Been using it for two weeks now; no problems at all. I've overclocked to 273 using HomeScreen, maybe that helps. Loaded up 6G worth of music and 1G worth of movies. Installed PocketPlayer (and TCPMP for movies), and I have a slick, portable media player. Battery life isn't bad at all, but I've ordered a 2500mAh replacement, waiting for that to come in.
A tip - be sure to pick up an original, name-brand card, even if you have to pay more. A lot of fakes going around, they may slow down your phone.
@vette95: No problems with your fake?
I've been searching google how to detect fake micro-sd but unfortunately the only info I got was to make sure the serial of the memory is readable and also try to call on the manufacturer and confirm the serial. Of course, I cannot do that when I am in the store, to check each items and call them. LOL. So do you know other ways how to know it if it is genuine?
The best bet would be to avoid ebay and the like; that's where most of them are floating around. Since you're buying retail, you should be pretty safe, since you can go right back to the store if you discover that it's fake.
From what I've read, there's also the issue of classes; best pick up class 6 or at least class 4. Class 2 will be slow.

Also check the packaging. Check if the fonts are printed alright and not fading or anything.
I have already bought a 4gb sdhc class 6 kingston micro-sd. There is no 8gb available in store so I decided to just go with 4gb and just upgrade when I need it. It was fast and I guest it is not fake(though I'm not sure). Thanks for the advice guys. I hope this will also be helpful for people who are planning to upgrade memory.
As far as I know, Transcend and Sandisk are the brands that are flooding in the market which are fake so I really looked for other brand. Fortunately I found one and it is made in Japan(the fakes are made in China written at the back of this brands) so I'm little confident with the memory I bought. hehe..
ive been using an 8gb card too for awhile now on my elfin. just got my 16gb card last month and havent had a problem yet. everything runs very smoothly.
i have 8GB V-gen and running well until now...
8gb
i´ve used a 8gb sdhc since a month without problems...it runs smoothly...
I bought a 16 gb sandisk sdhc. It didn't even register regardless of what drivers I installed on my phone.

Anyone tryed 32 Gb SDHC?

i want buy 16gb memory but may be 32gb have unofficial support.......
You may be better off getting a 16GB card as the 32GB cards are extremely rare and extremely expensive.

in Belarus 32gb sdhc from 80$ (2 class) upto 110-170$ (4 class)

It's a supported format if it's SDHC so it should work. I'd still go with the 16GB because it's the safer option and you don't need 32GB of space on a phone.

You should never say such things, your needs are different from others needs. My 16GB card has 50mo left

Lol... Well yeah, it's possible to fill any amount of space. Having said that, I'd say anything that isn't used on a fortnightly basis is superfulous and as such, I doubt you've got 16GB of 'vital' data?
On another note... the more data on the storage card the slower the indexing and performance. So, I'd weigh up 'needs' rather than 'wants'. Hell, I'd love a 32Gb SDHC crad for my phone, but I wouldn't need the space and so couldn't justify the expense or the reduced performance or risk incompatability.
Still, good point
crabby
very well, but can anyone JUST TRY to check compartibility ?
Well i use my X1a as my music player in my car, so my 16gb is filled up, 32gb would be super nice since i have tons of music i still wanna put on my X1, and a couple of movies i may add!!
Is there such a thing as a 32gb micro sd card? I've never seen it.
Does anyone has a link to where I can get one?
I'm using my 16gb, very satisfied with how much room there is!
A 32GB card ought to work, in my opinion.
I wonder what will be the benchmark for the 32Gb? will it be slower that the 16Gb.. for example for the Class 4... is the 16Gb slower that the 4Gb stock microSD of X1?
the x1 does support cards up to 32gb.
or aleast thats what sony said
32GB Micro SD cards cannot be purchased yet.
The link at the beginning of this thread pointed to SD cards, not micro SD.
As the Micro SD slots are so small, I thought it'd be nice to have two in a phone so you can easily add capacity. Mind you, I've still got an 8gb and it's got a wee bittie of room left on it
