Help me please, recently I just have a problem with my Dopod D810. I only can assign a low quality MIDI (simple low level polyphonic) only as ringtone and the sound quality is pretty bad. When I tried assigning a complex MIDI file as the ringtone, it just won't play when I tested it in Sounds & Notifications settings, and when there's an incoming call it will be changed to Windows Default.wav automatically.
I remember some time ago, all of my MIDI files still can be played nicely as ringtones. Now, all of my MIDI files can only be played nicely with external player like CorePlayer and only some of them can be used as ringtones (with poor sound quality).
Can anyone help me solve this problem? Any registry fix maybe?
Thanks!
I'm also having the same problem as this

Weird, my XDA 2 lost ability to play WMA's as ring tone. Use to fork just fine, I've had Fantasy.wma assign to it. Now I can onlu choose Default.
Any ideas? :?:
Hey Man! I also have the same Prob.. I can only play the Windows Default ring... it just happened by itself! any Help would be great....
Found it!
It was file association problem. It happened right after I've installed Conduits Pocket Player which plays various formats of audio files, including WMA. But for norma ringer funcionalty WMA format SHOULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH MEDIA PLAYER!. I've changed it back to Media player and now ringer works again. I used Resco Expolere to change this association back.

I am glad someone could figure out the problem, but can anybody tell me where on the internet I can find wma ring tones for my phone.
Appreciate your help
I have notice that my standard wma ring tones don't seem to work anymore apart from sounds with a wav extension. I all i have installed lately is microsft voice command 1.5 pocketmusic, mortplayer and also did a full restore from xbackup. when playing mp3 and wav files they all play ok through the media player. but trying to use them as ring tones in the when played in the ring directory , you click on them and nothing happends, when you click on an wav file, that plays ok.
Has anybody else experienced this problem. :?:
I had a similar problem, it was when I changed the wma file association to PocketMusic. Ended up having to do a hard-reset to fix the registry as I hadn't made a backup.
Hi! I really have this huge problem that bothers me. Whenever i choose midi files as incoming call alert, try to play it, and the speaker is like very bad, its like mono..same goes when my phone rings using the midi file. but when i play the midi using album or other players, the midi plays as good as what it should sound..i guess it all happened when i installed karpocket having it associated with midi files..and uninstalled karpocket while all the midi files have been associated with it.. i guess i must have lost tne midi file association, but then i associated it with album, but still the problem is there, did hard resets and the problem is gone, but when i restored my usual backup files with xbackup, the problem is there again...
is there a way, i can retain all my files and fixing the prob? i mean, is there a way to simply reset the midi audio playing output to its default so that it will play good again?
i hope u guys can help me..
Has anyone here found any software to use non-wav files as notifications? I have this really funny mp3 file that I want to use as my SMS notification sound but even when I transcoded the file to 11kHz or 22kHz mono wav and I even tried renaming it and overwriting the Alarm2.wav file in the Windows folder and it still refused to play. It shows up in the list of selectable files but it won't play. Does anyone know of any compact and low price (preferably free) software to do this? Thank you ^_^
By the way, I've tried out the trial version of phoneAlarm, it works but it seems to do a bit more than what I need it to do. If I can't find something smaller though I may end up buying this program.
I use windows sound recorder and save as PCM 22.050 kHz, 8 Bit, Mono or PCM 11.025 kHz, 8 Bit, Mono and it works on WindowsMobile. You don't have to overwrite the built in sounds of WM [I do not think it is possible anyway as they are in ROM] just copy your WAV to \Windows they should work if you have encoded it correctly.
First: I hate how wm2003SE plays ringtones
I did bigstorage trick, tested all the testable and got ringtones work (mp3 in storage card) BUT, I was in searching of some software that can assign mp3 even for sms: tried the one provided by ringo, but as expected I had no luck
Then, I managed to install pocket bluetooth tools: great bt app, played with it a bit, but uninstalled it because the audio system thought that a bt headset was linked (and consequently, when I received calls the bt turned on itself)
Then the problems began to come: the default ringtone kept playing even if a picosecond before I changed the ringtone to something else :? after heavy registry tweaking (all related to ringtones, default ringtone changed) I get a wav file to being executed in the storage card as ringtone, and can change it in the phone settings applet.
BUT: I can select every wav files to play, even if it's on a storage card; I can select wma files to play as ringtone ONLY if they are in the \windows folder; I can see all the mp3 in the storage card, but I can't reproduce these in the applet - if I tap the ok button, the applet won't exit because it need a playable ringtone (I think so)
Tried to set mp3 with the excellent wma profiler, playable but not as ringtone; with mortring, when someone calls me I get an error bip sound (with the vibration  ) I don't want do make hard resets or so, not now that my baby is just fine
Sh*t of a bugfilled ring manager :x

those regkeys were removed when I uninstalled Ringo I think.. Thanks Suyan!! (googled somewhere in the cached xda forum) Now it's working perfectly once again... 8)
