Appreciate if you can share your solution, if you found one.
same problem happens on mine today.. huhuhuu pliz help
A Possible Solution
This is how I got rid of such a message, without doing a hard reset.
Step 1: Backup (This step is not strictly necessary, but a good precaution. It served me.)
I used PIM Backup v2.8 (Messages only), a nice and free backup program you can download from this forum. Thank you, dotfred.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705&highlight=no+sender
I also export all Databases with SKTools to a XML file. This way I could find out where the message is stored.
Step 2: Install and run dbviewsp.zip
I found it here
http://www.smartphonedn.com/libraries/dbviewsp.html
Thank you, Kenny Goers.
Step 3: Determine the right database (or folder)
Substep 3.1: Before
Switch to dbViewsp.
I presume the e-mail and text messages (SMS) are in the \cemail.vol database.
Note the number of records in each folder. Select the folders one by one and choose "Properties" from the "Menu".
Substep 3.2: "Backup" normal messages
Switch to Pocket Outlook.
Create a new temporary folder and move all "normal" e-mails or text messages of the original folder to the new one.
Notice the number of normal messages you have moved in the new folder.
Notice the number of undeletable messages you have left in the original folder.
Substep 3.3: After
Repeat Substep 3.1. You will notice two differences. The temporary folder you have created and the old one, that will now contain just a few records.
Step 4: Delete records.
You can delete these by selecting them and choosing "Delete Record" from the "Menu".
Step 5: Restore
Switch to Pocket Outlook.
Move all messages from the new temporary folder back to the original folder. Delete the new temporary folder.
That's it. It looks a lot, but it is less trouble than a hard reset.
History:
I tried Menu -> Tools -> Clear "Text Messages" in Pocket Outlook. This deletes all sent and received messages, even the ones I moved to the temporary folder except the "undeletable" ones!
I also tried a plugin InboxExtender.CAB and a little program cleanmail.zip, but both did not work.
Many many many Thanks, I had that same problem. One SMS that had no Sender neither subject. The only thing i did was eliminate (with that software) one record and VOILÁ...
I salute you from Portugal
Once more, many thanks.
I too had a [no subject] [no sender] SMS that had shown up in my Inbox that I couldn't delete and it was keeping me from being able to backup/sync my SMS messages with my PC.
Used WC's method above to move the messages into a temp folder, then delete the database record for the Inbox database and move the good messages back.
Worked like a charm!
Many Thanks!!
Works like a charm! Thanks!
Thanks a million, WC
I too had a [no subject] [no sender] SMS that had shown up in my Drafts that I couldn't delete on my new HTC HD2 running on WM 6.5
I followed your method and managed to get rid of that SMS

Hi all,
I've a little problem with the SMS drafts folder.
In the Folder Selection window I can see that into Drafts folder I've x unread messages.
But when I tap on it sometimes it'll not open and when it can be viewed I can't find any message.
I've already used the "Clear SMS" onto Accounts menu but... Nothing!
And also tried to write some new message and put into it, but... Nothing!
So...
Could somebody be so kind to help me restoring the folder?
Tnx in advance.
Hi all,
I know this is a repeated and common problem, but I have to post this anyway.
this is the 3rd time that my Messaging in my wizard stops working for know clear reason, I can't read incoming sms, I can't send sms anymore.
I need to backup my sms file because it contains very important information, but cemail.vol can't be copied to another location...
What to do please???????????
Mohammad
use a backup program such as spb backup
and all the mails and sms are actually sotred under \windows\messaging as *.mpb files.
Those you can copy and rename as eml for mails or txt for sms.
the databases in cemail.vol is made up of pointers to these files
I found this quite by chance following a post of mine that never got any answer
Is it possible to backup only SMS's and not emails???
SPB Backup doesn't provide an option to backup specific Messaging Accounts
What do you need:
1. Windows XP + ActiveSync + Nokia PC Suite
2. DJ SMS Copier on your WM5 phone
3. PHP interpretator (for Windows or Linux)
4. A tiny php script to do it for you
Steps:
1. On your PC - Connect your Nokia phone & copy all messages from your phone via Nokia PC Suite to a local folder on your harddrive. It will create many files ending with extension .VMG - those are your SMS messages ofc.
2. On your phone - Run DJ SMS Copier and make an example export of your current SMS messages to your Storage Card (named MySMS for example). DJ SMS Copier will create directory named "MySMS.DJB.D" on your Storage Card.
3. Run the php script (preferably on Linux, never tested it on Windows) with param the directory where your Nokia messages are stored. (example "php -f db_sms /home/wm/SMS"). The script will create subdirectory "Out" (like "/home/wm/SMS/Out"). Those messages are converted ones, ready to be imported with DJ SMS Copier.
4. Use ActiveSync to browse your phone and make a subdirectory under "MySMS.DJB.D" (on Storage Card), name it "Imported" or w/e. Place the converted files there.
5. Use the Import button in DJ SMS Copier, select the "MySMS" backup and click "Yes" on cleanup dialog
There you have all your SMS messages on your WM5 phone
Notes:
1. The script error rate in convertion is like 2-3 per 100 messages
2. The messages receiving time is converted too. Tho it gives 2 hours difference for SMS messages sent/received more than 2 years ago
Posted it in wrong forum section. Sorry about it
Can you move it in Artemis main forum?
Thanks
Download the attached file from this post. The one in the original post is malfunctioning
The ZIP contains 2 files
db_sms.php -The php script
cont.txt - Your contacts. The syntax is "+some_phone_number|name_of_the_contact". The "|" sign is the delimiter
You can export your contacts with any tool (including MS Outlook) and fill the cont.txt file. The script reads it so it will recognize your contact names and fill them in the converted SMS messages. Without it you will have just plain phone numbers in the messages.
thanks for the howto!
i have a problem with my sms... i can´t find my own sms folders (nokia n73 with symbian) and with the pc suite i can only exprt to csv...

Hi, i've tried with this script under windows xp with php 5.2.6 but no output folder is created in my sms folder, so i guess something is not working...

Does anyone know how to save recieved sms messages?
Normally the messages are being saved in the 'inbox' folder. Is there any possibility to save (a couple of) messages in another (self created) folder so you won't see it in the inbox anymore?
I have some folders under "Inbox" created in my previous Trinity. When i started using my HD i retrieved my backup of SMS and then I retrieved the folders. Well, I can move received SMS to a Subfolder using a verya strnge way: first I must delete the message, but not from the Touch Flo, I must enter in the Inbox (down-left option). After deleted, i go to the deleted folder and THEN I cna move it to my subfolder. But I can´t create a new subfolder at all
Hmmm. there has to be an easier way to do this!
Check this thread.
For various reasons (Hard resets, Phone migratin, wrongly done backups, Change of mailbox name, etc...) I am left after a while with several inbox.mstxxxxxx folders on my SD Card with inside the attachment to my emails & MMS
My Inbox has been rebuilt several times with PIM Bakup so I still ahve, for most of them the emails/MMS linked to tehse attachments
I tried to place all my atachemnets in only one folder, change teh registry to point to this folder for attcahments, untick the box "Save attachments on SD Card", Softreset, retick, soft reset... But Outlook idnt remake the link between attachments & the emails (which I believe is understandable)
Two questions:
1. Any chance to rebuild the link (Maybe soemone has developped some application doing that and I missed it on google...)
2. If not (most likely case), does someone knows of some converter that woudl allow me at least to convert the att file into the origial attachment ? (txt files, pictures, word docs, etc...). That wouldnt be perfect but at least I'd save my documents...
Thanks a lot in advance for your help
Anyone ?
I am sure someone must have figured out (Though Google was not very helpful... mostly returning everything linked to ATT...)
Help !!
I guess it's hopeless
Nobody ? I cant believe I am he only one with interets in this
I should probably stop bumping the thread...
