Proxy Server settings - Networking

I connect to various access points in schools no problem but I cannot get internet because I can't set the proxy server correctly. On a PC its tools/internet options/lan settings. On Mobile 5 if I got to settings/connections I can set a proxy server in My Work Network/set up proxy server but this does not work. Also it does not give a port number. If I go to advanced I can, but it still does not work.

Proxy with pocket ie

Hi , i am very new to pocket pc and so far its been good until i decide to use my HTTP proxy server with pocket ie,
firstly i dont get why pocket pc has My isp and My work sections on connection settings
secondly if i setup an gprs apn to isp section i cant use or add proxy server settings to it, if i create same apn on my work network section i can add and use my proxy server, thats ok i went advenced section and changed both (programs that connect to internet and private network) auto. used networks to my networkbut now if i try to get my emails with my ppc outlook can not connect to internet unlesss i change first setting ( programs that connect automaticly to the internet setting) back to my isp and if i do that pocket ie wont use my proxy server, is there any way to use porx server on pocket ie?
i have found my answer:
"Any user or ISP that uses a proxy and still connects directly to the internet will not work. The proxy assumes all connections with a dot in the name go to the proxy and that the proxy supports socks or winsock to connect. So company's that use a proxy to speed up access to the internet like when you use wireless will experience issues with e-mail due to this issue. So with the connection to Work, you can get to the web but no otherservice. So if you set it to The Internet then you can get e-mail but no web. "

wifi proxy settings

Hi guys,
Well I have searched everywhere and found nothing.
Well my college has wifi but it uses a proxy to access the internet.
So in Internet explorer on my desktop/laptop there is a direct option in the lan settings to specify a proxy ip and prot.
how do i do the same for my xda2s running 5.0.
thanks
Hello,
The way to go about doing this is to set up a proxy server under Start> Setings>Connections>Connections. Under My Work Network, select "Set Up My Proxy Server" and check the boxes for "This Network connects to the internet" and "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet". Click on the "advanced" setting which should open up a window where you can choose your proxy port and enter your port address & numbers. Note when using pass through or any other connection that doesnt use the same proxy, make sure you turn your proxy port settings off (by unchecking the "this NW uses proxy port" check box). I hope this solves your problem.
Alternatively, a solution I've found which works is to use Opera Mobile - you can specify an HTTP and/or HTTPS proxy to use (in the form of hostname/iport) and then when you connect it just asks you to authenticate against it and boom: you're good to go.
No more faffing about with My Work Network, half the time I could never get connectivity with my Alpine when I did it like that (which meant it tried to dial up to the GPRS)... However if I'm not using Opera for one reason or another, I will use the My Work Network method with my TyTn. Both ways work just as well, I just think the Opera solution is neater because you can just set all your wifi networks as 'connects to the Internet'.

i think it may work
it worked for me

Proxy settings keep being overwritten...

I have both a wired and a wireless LAN setup. My PC that I have ActiveSync installed on is configured to Auto-detect the Proxy settings on the network (there is actually an ISA Server acting as a proxy on port 8080). Whenever the Wizard syncs with the PC it changes the Proxy Settings to my ISA server name and port 80. This obviously doesn't work since the ISA server is only listening for Auto-proxy requests (WPAD) on port 80. Group policy on the network overwrites any manual proxy settings that get configured on the PC so if I change the Wizard manually it gets overwritten by the PC settings when it is sync'd. The result of this is when the Wizard is connected Wirelessly I have to manually change the proxy settings to be able to access the Internet.
Is there any way around this? I have had a look to see if there are any settings in ActiveSync (on the Wizard and the PC) and can't see anything.

Wifi connection with proxy server

I have a wifi connection at work that want the certificate and the proxy server use.
I configure all on my htc touch but when I try to navigate it says that the proxy server is unreachable.
I go to see the proxy setting and it is empty.
After many tries I discover that the settings remain until I try to use them, and after this the field return empty.
Please help me.

Kaiser: How to set up proxy server settings over wi-fi?

So on desktop computers this is easy, just open up browser set up your proxy servers and done.
The only settings I can see that set up proxies on the kaiser are for GRPS/Dial-up/3G. But that's already set by my cell provider and it doesn't require a proxy (to my knowledge)
But I'd like to be able to access my home proxy when I'm using wi-fi (at home or away from home) I just can't find a way to set it in the system.
If anyone knows please let me know.
Thanks
i wish to know the answer as well
In Settings, Connections you can set up two Automatic connections 'Internet' & 'Private'. Typically these are 'My ISP' and 'My Work Network'. In the Private network settings you can specify your proxy. You then need to edit your WiFi settings for your Home WiFi - change the 'Connects to:' to 'Work' (as opposed to The Internet). When you connect to your home WiFi it should use the proxy specified.
Be careful with ActiveSync or Sync Centre as this can change these settings each time your device connects to your PC (change the connection settings in ActiveSync/Sync Centre on the PC so that the option 'This computer is connected to:' is NOT set to 'Automatic'.
Windows Mobile also supports Proxy Auto Detection as well. If this is the same as Windows proxy auto detection then it relies on either DHCP being configured to send Option 252 with the URL of the Proxy script and/or DNS with a host record or alias for the WPAD host in the devices domain - i.e. wpad.network.com.
