hello, i've bought an spv m5000 with usb a broken socket( i knew that..) for 260€...With that socket i can charge the battery anyway but no usb sync.
the problem is that it seems that the crarghing time is tooo long..6 hours...and the charger is recognized just if the pda is turned off.., then i can turn it on and see charging...strange? or it is normal? what are your charging time? thank you
3 hours fairly!!!
Keep in mind that the device charges fairly slower when connected through the pc with a usb cable then with the wallcharger.
Wallcharger (I think about 2 hours)
usb cable to pc, more like 8 hours

I have just found that my XDAII is charging via USB -- is this a 'designed' function ?
I took my power cable home and left it there and docked the XDA in the morning at work, to my suprise the screen brightened (as i have it set to dim on battery) and it is charging !! BONUS
Now I can leave the power cable at home (I sync via WIFI at home anyway)

yep that is designed, a benefit above the old ipaq
BUT be aware, it will NOT charge the additional battery slot in the craddle, you still need the charger for that

Yes. XDAII can be charged by USB - you do not need to use the "power cable", USB itself is enough. And surprisingly: USB charging is fast enough.
usb is 500mA pr powered port
a powered port is a port in the pc or a port in a hub
if the hub is not powered and you have alot of other stuff
the xda will get less power and it will take longer
500mA is ok current to charge with imho
Well is saves buying another charges. as you need definately two of them, one at home to cover the weekend, usage and one at work, to cover the dailly job
Are you really sure that it is charging if the battery is under 30%? For me with older firmware (1.52) it can charge only if over 30%! In other cases it shows "Charging" but really it only faster discharges because of brighter backlight.
Is this behaviour fixed in 1.60 firmware?
I can actually charge from compete NILL,
charge vis USB
I find my xdaII charges much more slowly by usb alone.
From my laptop it took 2 hrs to charge from 40% to 100%, with the power adapter it takes about 30mins.
USB charge but can´t sync
Hi,
Can I use XDA usb cable on XDA2 for sync and charge? Is it the same cable?
Yesterday, I suddenly stoped the sync and I cannot perform it again after that. Could you help me to solve this problem?
I am on the road a lot and don't want to be carrying the HTC charger with me. For my Treo, I had a foldable USB AC adapter (.8A and 5V) to which I plugged in a Sync and Charge cable and it did just fine.
After reading all the comments about there being two ways to charge a Tilt - fast and slow, I decided to test out a retractable USB data cable with my USB AC brick. I set the option in Power to "Not charge the battery when connected to the PC." and plugged it in. Nothing. I then unticked the box and sure enough, it started to charge. As I was at 70% of the charge, I expected this to drag on, but it didn't. It took about 1 hour and was fully charged.
I'm still a bit worried about charging this way - the description of the Lil Sync cable for the Tilt says that while it might work, under certain circumstances it won't if your battery is below 30% of a charge. Has anyone seen this happen? The last thing I want is to go away for a few days and be stuck with a dead batttery.
Do I need to pick up a special cable from ppctechs or boxwave just to charge? Should I just carry the supplied charger?
I always charge my kaiser just using the sync cable and it works fine even from a flat battery. there seems to be absolutely no need to carry an AC adapter around when you can just connect it to a computer to charge.
Thanks Spooki. Just curious - how long does a charge usually take when you charge against a computer's USB?
it seems to take roughly twice as long as a wall charger but i work with PC's all day so doesn't really bother me, much easier than carrying a charger around.
hey..
i've got a strange problem...
sometimes i try to charge my x1 via usb cable (outlet). and sometimes via usb cable (notebook, desktop pc etc...)
sometimes first alternative does not charge my x1 and sometimes the second!?
thats really strange and i dont understand why?!
im confused... last night i charge it via outlet and nothing happens...

I have had the same trouble. Seems to be something with the USB cable. I have one cable with a blue led in and that cable does not charge the phone. The light on the phone stays on and the batti monitor says charging, but it's draining the battery. A second cable is even more strange, it starts charging for 1-2 minutes, then the phone stops charging and says I have a missing sim.... reboot the phone and it works great again. Bot this cable have been tested with the original SE USB charger and my iPhone USB charger. Same thing with both adapters.
What's even more strange is that both USB cables work great with my Qtek 9100 and my 2,5" USB drives.
When I connected the original USB cable to one of the adapters and the phone it's charging normaly. I realy don't know why this is so...
hey guys... how long does it take for your battery to charge? like i had it plugged in overnight (8hours) and its only charged up 1 or 2 or 3 bars.does the phone have to be completly off for something?>
no it doesn't. check to see if the cable is connected good and no app is running in the background. 8h is good enough for a full charge!
if your charging by a computers usb connection it could take days ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz
however, charging by mains is normally very fast 2-3 hours max
yea, i wss using my ps3's mini usb cable into the SE wall thing, put in the offical mini usb that came with the phone and it charged up to full in less than an hour
Hay,
I got my Touch HD 2 days ago an it was all find an no problem. I've been plugging it in & out of the USB ports all day yesterday on the PC adding thing to it no problem.
I charged it lastnite and only noticed this moring that it didnt charge. I checked and sometimes if I put the USB cabele at a certian angle when its pluged in to the main AC Plug it wont charge, wiggle the cable an it starts to charge.
Thing is when it's plugged in to the USB port on the PC it works fine, no loss of connection.
Could this be a fault in the mains plug?
If so can I buy a new one or are the 3rd party Ebay ones safe?
Thanks
