I'm trying to backup my settings for a flash to Black v3 on my T Mobile Vario 2 and the password box for the GPRS settings has all **** in it to hide what is meant to be there...
I have googled the settings to find out what it should be, however I've noticed that every single one I've looked at is different from mine... Theirs all say the usename is user and password either wap or one2one... however, my username is t-mobile ... is my password also wap or not??
access point = general.t-mobile.uk
username =
password =
Works for me!
these are the settings my vario II came with:
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
username: tmobile
password: tm

yup, that's correct, as I remember I extracted the settings from an xml file on the original t-mobile rom just before I flashed WM6.
they're the settings I always use and the seem to work fine, even with HSDPA

Hi All,
I got 2 HTC Dream Android (Google G1) devices. One was already simunlocked and I managed to activated it (register to gmail account) with my vodafone sim. I have a business phone number so I used office.vodafone.nl, if you have a personal (private) number you could try to use live.vodafone.nl instead.
The APN settings I have used are:
Name: Vodafone Office
APN: office.vodafone.nl
proxy: 192.168.251.150
port: 8799
username: vodafone
password: vodafone
MCC: 204
MNC: 04
I have ordered an unlock code for the other G1 from a commercial service for 19.95 euro, and am awaiting process and delivery of the code.
Update: After 2 and a half hours I got an email to collect my unlock code online. Works like a Dream on vodafone now
I have a private number. i also set:
mmsc: mmsc.mms.vodafone.nl
mms proxy: 192.168.251.150
mms port: 8799
Haven't tested mms so i can't confirm if these are correct. i looked these settings up from another device.
By the way, i have a question. it seems when using the browser i can't make a https connection when i'm on 3G. When i'm using WIFI it's works just fine.. any idees?

I believe some vodafone APN's are restricted to http traffic only (port 80).
On the Vodafone Live! APN I can't get https either.
Stuff like gmaps, gtalk, msn, ssh also doesn't work.

I am also using Vodafone NL my mobile. The APN for the personal is: live.vodafone.com not .nl.
I know I am in the wrong forum, I have a AT&T Fuze aka Rapheal, aka HTC Touch Pro.
But, I also cannot connect to https, but only in Internet Explorer. I can connect to all websites in Opera. I can connect to Skype, GoogleMaps, OctroTalk and TomTom traffic. Outlook works, Weather works. Just not https for Internet Explorer.
It must be something with Vodafone. I have been searching the internet and other forums for help, and this is the first tiem I have seen other people having the problem.
Any suggestions?
Hey,
This is driving me crazy. I have the dev unlocked G1 and I can't get it to work with Vodafone. (I live in Holland)
I have a prepaid sim card with the Vodafone Blox unlimited internet for 9:50 EUR.
I editing an existing APN with the following (word for word) :
name : vodafone live
APN : live.vodafone.com
Proxy : 192.168.251.150
Port : 8799
Username : vodafone
Password : vodafone
Server : <not set>
MMSC : http://mmsc.mms.vodafone.nl
MMS proxy : 192.168.251.150
MMS port : 8799
MCC : 204
MNC : 04
APN type : <not set>
But I can't access the data network.
Can anyone see any problems with this ?
Is there something you need to do after setting up the APN ? like selecting the APN
you want to use ? or is that automatic ? Do you need to reboot the phone ?
Any help would be much appreciated - before I have to send back the phone and try to get my money back .............
Sorry for kicking this older thread but did someone actually figured out what was going on?
We seem to be having a similar issue on the HTC touch pro running the XDAndroid build. Only the phones on Vodafone NL seem unable to get an internet connection on XDAndroid so this might very well be related to the issues posted here.
XDAndroid thread for Touch Pro is right here:

Ive currently purchased a unlocked vodaphone htc magic, but for some reason i cant access the internet with my t mobile sim. Has anybody got the apn settings for t mobile or know what i have to do to get 3g internet working thanx
First you won't get 3G with Vodafone HTC Magic since it only supports Euro/Asia 3G. You need either the Google Ion or T-Mobile myTouch 3G if you want to take advantage of T-Mobile US 3G.
Name: Whatever you want to call it
APN: epc.tmobile.com
The rests are blank (not set) until you get to MMSC.
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy & port are <not set>
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: <not set>
T-Mobile Uk APN settings:
Name: TMobile GPRS
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: user
Password: wap - If you have problems using the browser, change this to pass
The rest can be left blank
Try this for US settings? http://theody.net/t-mobile.html
Thanx kevstv that did the trick im on t mobile uk i was using us settings lol
I ran into the same problem, I purchased a Vodafone Magic and have been waiting for the 3G to kick in. Only after stumbling across this site did I find out this issue. Is there any software hack to get around this? The seller claims that the phone has a Google ion rom currently in it. I have know way of verifying that. Please give me some hope. I can't even get on to Edge. I currently have NO data at all unless on Wifi.
i have the same problem. i got the unlocked HTC Magic on aazon.com and ive tried these and other settings but i only get data over wifi. anyone now of any possible solutions
Under the APN settings if you plug in:
wap.voicestream.com
You can at least get Edge support under T-Mobile. I have combed the entire internet and found out that the actual hardware for the Vodafone Magic 3G antenna is different. There is no way around it. The example someone gave was trying to listen to a AM radio station on a FM only radio.
Thanks

Thank you for this info. It worked easily.
Now if I can get my Qtec rom to stop fuzzing after a screen dimming, I will be set.
If you have any suggestions I will keep checking the fuzzy thread.
Thanks again.

If you flash a generic ROM or a custom ROM instead of using the default Vodafone ROM the APN settings AND MMS settings will automatically be set for the phone. All the ROMs I've installed on my unlocked Vodafone Magic 32b here in the UK have found the APN settings automatically.
Heres what I'm using at the moment
I didn't want any Vodafone crap on my phone since I'm not on Vodafone anyway.

Hello all,
I thought that it would be good to share this with the rest of the world.
I'm using the HTC Magic on fido, and for the longest time I had trouble finding working fido MMS APN settings. Most of what I could find via a google search referenced just setting up one APN, quoted various proxies, server addresses - let's just say a lot of contradicting information.
Finally - I did a quick search about the APN Type (the last field in the APN setup screen). I solved my MMS worries by setting up two APNs with different types.
So without further delay, here's the good stuff.
APN1 [this one will have the radio button beside it]
Name: fido internet
APN: internet.fido.ca
Username: fido
Password: fido
APN Type: default
(all other fields blank)
APN2 [this one will not have any radio button beside it]
Name: fido mms
APN: mms.fido.ca
MMSC: http://mms.fido.ca
MMS Proxy: 205.151.011.013
APN Type: mms
(all other fields blank)
Hope this helps!
(Sorry if someone already posted this.)

PERFECT! I had the internet settings but not mms. other sites are giving incorrect mms settings for Fido, But U R DA MAN!
Data plan blocked?
Is it possible Fido applied the data plan shutdown to unlocked phone owners too? See article “Rogers Canada forces Android update that takes away root access” on boingboing.net.
I had good 3G bandwidth in the morning and no more connection in the afternoon. Still offline
Anyone else experiencing the same troubles?
They might have changed the APN credentials...
I recently got my sister's Rogers Dream ... NOT unlocked or anything...and i have the old sim from about 5 years ago....(don't know if that is the reason)
but these FIDO APN settings are not working for me!

Hey do you still have this problem? Because I do and I'd like to fix it. Do you think that Rogers ban extends to Fido customers as well (since they use the same network)?
This may help you to solve the problem.
Figured it out today thanks to all the other information here.
Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Acces Point Names
Create a new one for each:
Internet
Name: Fido Internet
APN: internet.fido.ca
Proxy: 205.151.11.11
Username: fido
Password: fido
MCC: 302
MCN: 370
MMS
Name: Fido MMS
APN: mms.fido.ca
MMSC: htp://mms.fido.ca
MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13
MMS Port: 8080 (still needs to be confirmed, I didn't want to test too much without unlimited MMS)
Username: fido
Password: fido
MCC: 302
MCN: 370
APN Type: mms
So far it works!
These settings worked awesome for me. I have a Rogers Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. I unlocked it to use on Fido's network. At first, my voice worked fine, but no data. These APN settings now have my data working. Thank you so much for posting this!
I'm using these settings on an unlocked Atrix and no luck at all. How long does it usually take for these settings to work?

Fido / Motorola XT860 (Bell)
Thanks so much for this tread.
Most of the informations was PERFECT for me.
Thanks again
works great. been using those settings for a while. Great job
Right, I have a magic from Vodaphone in the uk. Its running an O2 contract sim, the APN settings have been changed over to the O2 settings.
SMS and phone, and web all seem to work fine (showing E OR G in the data connection icon (not 3g as far as i've seen))
But mms will not send or receive.
Any ideas?

You want these settings under a single APN:
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk
MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS Port: 8080
However see my thread on User Agents, I am on o2 as well, but they don't reconise the Magic, and force resize mms images to the smallest size as they don't ident the handset
Can anyone help me?! I got my nexus one today and love it but for some reason I'm not getting any data connection at all. Wifi works fine just no data.
I'm in the UK and on o2. I don't think its the sim card because I get hsdpa on my HTC hero.
Thanks in advance
You put in the correct APN settings?
Go to Settings->Wireless & network settings->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names
You should have one automatically put there called 'O2 UK' or similar (I have one for T-Mobile UK).
Otherwise you'll have to set one up manually:
Pay and go:
Apn: payandgo.o2.co.uk
username: vertigo
password: password
Contract:
Apn: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: vertigo
password: password
O2 may not have 3G in your area.. hence the value of an unlocked phone .
Also if you've not used that SIM before make sure you have selected a data tariff first.
Ahhh! Thank you so much that worked perfectly....full data connection now
Just thought i'd contribute a little
for those that want full o2 3g and mms working these settings should work:
1st APN
Name: O2 Internet
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: vertigo
password: password
MCC:234
MNC 10
APN type: default (actually type in default, don't leave it blank)
All others remain as "not set".
2nd APN
Name: O2 MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk
port:9201
username: o2wap
password: password
server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mmsc: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN type: mms (type in mms dont leave it blank)
you'll be sending mms in no time
Oh yeah you might find that pics dont send full size via o2. That's because the o2 MMS servers wont recognise the Nexus so... You can download Handcent SMS and in the app settings you can change the phone's user agent to show as a Nokia N95 or Iphone 3gs.
That'll make picutres go through properly
Hope this helps someone
Dave
non of the settings seem to work with O2 pas as you go , i had similar tourble with HTC Diamond , since the connection was different compared to a monthly plan SIM. any suggestions?
oh i got it :
Name : O2 Pay As You Go
APN: payandgo.02.co.uk
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port:8080
Username:vertigo
Passwordassword
MCC:234
MNC:10
leave the rest blank , and voila .
remember this is only for UK O2 pay as you go (Bolt Ons)
cheers
