hi, i got two nob qs.
how do i know if got HSDPA active on my t-mob account ?
how can i check the speed of my conection/internet ?
cheers, cudo
Not sure about Poland, UK T-Mobile HSDPA is enabled by default. Depending on the ROM version you are using, you may get an appropriate icon, i.e. 'H' when it is in use.
Try http://text.dslreports.com/mspeed for speed testing.
not sure about poland as well but since i live in devon i should not be really bothered with this, should i ?
i am on t-mob uk. so ur saying it is default. and when i am in range i shell get 'h' on the screen. so far i am getting anly '3g'. thought it is kinda the same. can you gurus clarify ?
as to the speed, what should be the speed while on 'h' ? and '3g' ?
cheers

Don't think the WM5 default ROM has the H icon.. I didn't see it until upgrading to Black WM6.
Speed will be very dependant on signal, weather, cycle of the moon, etc... Best I have had on HSDPA so far is around 900kb/s.

I was wondering, since the universal is the only other htc phone to do UMTS right now. Does the regular edge/gprs icon reg hack work? If not, has anyone figured a way for it to happen? Thanks.

urrm? the universal does it out of the box, no hack needed.... i get U for umts and G for gprs
But do you get an E for edge? On the wizard there is a registry hack to make the universal display a G for GPRS and an E for EDGE.

the universal doesn't have edge.
Wow, I didn't know that. Thats kinda weird, wonder why they left it out?

yes it is too bad but i dont miss it much, 3g is available where i live
btw a lot of plain phones have only either edge or 3g, rarely both... sigh
Quick question!
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this before or not BUT! I just got my MDA today and with any other phone I can connect to Cellular One DCS up north here but my MDA won't show Cellular One at all? Has it somehow lost 850mhz coverage? I'm lost on how this can be. Any ideas? Where I am has great 850 coverage too btw. Thanks!

Well, I have added spb pocketplus, backup and upgraded to the 2.26.10.2 rom from T-Mobile. Other than that, that's it. I'm going to backup my stuff though and then reinstall the rom. See if that helps. Otherwise I'm lost on this.
Yeah soo that did nothing.. :\ No clue what is going on. Maybe I'll call T-Mobile and see if they have any idea or get a replacement or something

have you tried just flashing the Radio ROM to something like the 2.19 or 2.61 to see if that does anything for you...

Alright will do and report back when I can thanks
Update: Good news is that it does work with 850 band. The reception is VERY poor though. I had an MDA before this and it was great inside my room but this one is very very poor in comparisson. Perhaps I will get an exchange.
Hello, my first post here.
I've had Xperia for a few months now. But something is really bothering me.
When on HSDPA, I can never get more than 400kps speed on Xperia.
Either it's connected to PC, or stand alone.
Is this a problem with Xperia or is it just me?
My friend sat next to me and got 1700kps speed on the same net.
Could you tell me the speeds you get?
And if there is a fix for it?
Thanks to everyone who reads this, and sorry to bother.
does it display the H in the upper bar ?
I get about 400 kb too i dont know why it dont really bother me. Maybe it's a network issue, im on att NYC on the 15 dollar plan
Of course it is H in the bar
I'm not a noob if that's what you're wondering.
I have 2-3 bars on H, but still. When I had HTC Diamond, it was faster on the same net. I've checked with the company and there no problem there.
That's why I came to you guys for help.
That's weird. I got about 800Kbps at work and about 1.3 Mbps at home. Is this the first time you noticed getting no more than 400 kbps?
same speed since i got it
thought at first that it was my location that was the problem but thats not the case.
in the biggest cities i still only get about 400kps.
can there be anything that needs to be changed in the phone?
i tried with my girlsfriends simcard, but still noe difference.
it is very annoying, since i need acceptable speed when i use it with my work computer.
dont want to send my phone to shop either, the service time is usually a whole month.
hard to live without my xperia now.
when connected to wifi, the speed is very good at almost 3000kps. so there is something really wrong with only the radio or whatnot.
i was hoping that maybe there was a tweak or something.
It probably has something to do with your network data connection.
Go to Start->Setting->Personal tab choose Phone->Band tab. Check your GSM/UMTS band. Mine set to Auto but my X1i does not support 850Mhz band so I get to use their 1900Mhz band instead.
do you and your friend have an x1i or x1a?
I'm in norway
So here we only get X1i. And that it what I got. It works great besides the slooow network. Tried to change all the settigns inn network and connections. But still no difference.
Which site did you use to do the speed test? (i cant find any that would work on that stupid "i dont want to support flash".........
Yuu can increase the download by some settings like TCP recieve window (thats on the normal PC side maybe you have to change it here to?)
EDIT:
Have done some reasearch and found that the optimal setting for a 7,2Mbps connection (max HSDPA for xperia) would be ~130.000 the max you can set in advanced is ~96.000 and the default of ~65.000
I did this on my windows 2000 server machine(vista and forward has this on autochange) and download speeds increaased from around 700 to about 950 KB/s on an 8Mbit downlink!
Maybe a registery fix to get this higher?
PLEASE.
Could some one help with the setting for HSPDA and HSUPA i have checked and made sure they are enbled but still only connects to 3g i am on t-mobile uk all help would be much appreciated and help a few others out there that need help with this one too.
Thanks in advance.
Are you on radio 2.07.50? I have noticed i mostly get "3G" as well, but when i get closer to the city center it turns into "H". I think reception is just really bad!

just stock radio. i have used with othere roms but can not seem to get h on this stock rom. i have seen others asking the sam ? so i thought is start a new thread.
Hey mates,
at the moment i'm in a corner of New Zealand ( ) where i thought that there would be no data reception. I can make only phone calls. But Data is working i know that cause i used it on other places like Auckland. The interesting thing is following:
After some time (tyween ROM) my HD2 started making random restarts, so i decided to reflash my HD2 from the beginning. So if flashed back to the original Stock ROM to make a clean flash for the tytung ROM afterwards. Suddeny i had good 3g Data reception. Then i flashed the tytung ROM and again i had no data reception
So it seems there must be something with Anroid ?!
Any ideas or solutions? Anybody recognised the same
check teh apns, , i always have non working data when i install any android rom, , it seems teh defaults mess with each other. I have to delete all but two (one data one mms) and tweak the mms one to get full data/mms functionality. Ive never yet had an android rom that works out of the box for mms, and most dont work for data either (though some do, , but data only, they NEVER work for mms)
Just checked the APN settings, deleted them and configured them new as shown here under the point internet. But also before i deleted them they were correct.
It is still not working. It would also amaze me if this would help.
Cause as i said before. For example in Auckland or other cities i had no problem.
Also no in Germany. Now i am in a rural area. Never had any problems like this before.
Maybe i should try another Radio Rom??!

unlikely to help.
i came across this
The 2 Degrees network is new to New Zealand. To get national coverage, 2 Degrees have a roaming coverage with Vodafone, which means you use the 2 Degrees mobile towers in the main cities, and then your USB modem (or 2 Degrees phone) roams to Vodafone and uses the Vodafone network if there are no 2 Degrees towers in your area.
