sound problems... - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

hey everyone!
right i have an orange m600. i have had various wm5 and wm6 roms installed, so it doesn't appear to just affect one rom.
basically my phone will randomly lose all sound. media player, ringtones, message alerts etc etc! i dont know why. am i pressing some sort of mute button? it sometimes comes back itself, if not, then i have to restart the device! please help, as i miss alarms etc.
cheers

Hiya - this caught my eye as I have exactly the same problem!! I searched in case there was an answer hidden somewhere already and found this thread from March - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297716&highlight=prophet+sound
If you want a quick fix for it - I go into Sounds & Notifications... Notifications tab... press play and then OK and it must reset something, as that sorts it.
I'd be very interested to hear if there is any way around it - I have a Prophet and three colleagues have an HTC Wizard and they all have the same issue. The quick fix above works on them all.

Some questions

Hey all just got some questions regarding my O2 XDA-II mini:
Firstly, how do you set a background properly? I've got the mode as 640x480, but when I try and set the today background the picture is too big and the opacity is really light and it doesn't auto-size to fit as the background. And if I try and set it a different way, the pictures comes up but it's too small, but clear. Any other ways to fix this?
And with messaging, is there a way I can have my own custom SMS receive tone? I want to record a tone from my computer and set that as my SMS receive tone, anyone know how to do that?
Cheers!
Anyone?!
Come on... i'm sure some people on this forum can help me?!?!?!
Duffman, did you look around for this info?
I don't use this kind of stuff, but I understand that MortRing does this - infact, the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20711&highlight=mortring is called "MortRing - ringtones and SMS sounds per contacts/category".
Also this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=mortring
is called "SMS Ringtones?" and says
as far as i know you can only use .wav format audio....... if you have something you want to use, then copy the files into your /windows directory, dont put them in seperate folder, just into /windows
then when you select all your different sms alerts, you can see the files you placed in the directory , in the list to select.....

Re the background image. How are you getting 640x480? Using nydiot or something? Normal magician is 320x240. I don't use a background image, but I think it doesn't stretch to fit the background, it just tiles them, so you need a background image of the correct size to begin with.

i got a new problem now - when i push the 'record' button on the side of my phone it does not bring the recoridng menu/folder up! why is this?!?! thanks..
ok i got a few problems with my phone now which i'm pretty angry and confused about:
1) when i push the screen on button, it takes around 1 second or more to actually turn the screen on. why does it take so long, it didnt take that long before?
2) my record function is f*ked!!! when i push the 'record' button on the side of the phone it doesnt bring up the folder/menu like it used to. and when i record things now and try and play it - it wont play!! but i can play previous recorded stuff. for example
TEST
Record1
when i click on test, it plays. but when i click on Record1 there is no play button, and when there is the play button, it plays the 'TEST' file, or the last file that i have played. wtf is wrong?
please help me people!!! i havent even had this phone for a week!
ok ive managed to fix that problem. now i have a problem when i start my camera by pushing the 'camera' button. it takes about 30 seconds to load the damn thing and freezes the screen while its at it. why is this? it never used to have this problem? its a great phoen but recently i'm running into a lot of bloody problems with it!!!

Events reminders not working anymore

Hi everyone,
Since a couple of weeks, my trinity suddenly stopped reminding me of appointments. Before, it was working perfectly, using either sound, vibration, popup, or a combination of three. Now, it remains desperately silent and inert - it doesn't even raise a popup when an appointment happens.
I'm seriously considering going for the hard-reset solution, but before I try that I'd like to know if there might be any other solution to restore that essential functionality.
So thanks a million in advance !
Try to rebuild the notification queue e.g. using MemMaid or similar application.
Read also this thread and read my posts which maybe will help you.

Problems with phone

Ok, I've been looking through the threads looking for a solution for the following problems, but can't find any.
1) For no reason at all I am unable to get a ringer for incoming calls. All I can get is vibrate and silent mode. If I choose ringer it just goes to silent or vibrate depending on what it was last set at.
2) My sms notifier displays that I have a new message, which I don't and it will not disappear even when I receive a new message and delete it. Everytime I receive a new message the counter goes up, but will not remove once sms deleted. Currently stands at 24.
3) I know posts have been made about 'Screen fades to white' and the solution by alkizmo is to take apart your phone. Would this cause points 1 & 2?
I have upgraded to new ROM's but problems reappear after a short time.
Any help appreciated. Basically I think the phone is screwed
cheers
the ringer and messages issues sound like software issue.
what software have you installed?
Have a lot of SPB software including SPB Plus, today, weather etc as prefer the userface to HTC Home and today screen.

I've Got Shift! Now, Some ?'s Please

Greetings,
Just received Shift X9500 today....so far, very nice!!!
As my last device was the lil' Fujitsu U810 which was very nice, but just a bit too small (keyboard & display) and before that an OQO E2, which was very nice, but really small, the Shift feels just right size-wize....
However, have a few questions, have taken a lot through this forum, but didn't see my questions covered, unless I missed it....
1) Chirping Sounds
After I turned on Shift and went through various startup screens, I heard periodically a sort of chirping set of sounds periodically for a few seconds at a time, then it went away for awhile, but then it would do this again periodically.
However, Shift did some sort of automatic install; Intel Graphic Driver7.14.10.1364, HTC Control Center and maybe some other items, but didn't watch display the whole time...
At some point Shift rebooted and since then chirping sounds have not reappeared....
So, just wondering if anyone knows what this sound was for? and if it comes back what should I do?
2) Software Solution Package
There's a small piece of paper that's titled "Downloading and Installing the Software Solution Package to the HTC Shift".
It says that this package has the latest drivers and apps in it...could this be what was being installed automatically when Shift first booted up to desktop??
If not, should I install this?
If so, where do I get it on the HTC e-Club site?
I registered and then checked on what's available for Shift. However, I could only find 2 files for downloading; a Vista Sidebar Hotfix and one other file (forget which one..), but that's all I see as available there for the Shift...
3) Windows Updates
Should I do a Windows Update now or do I need to install the package in question 2 above first or ???
Thanks in advance for any and all input!

Just thought I'd update this post a bit...
The only issue that really I'm wondering about still since my original post, is question number 1.
I still occasionally get some sort of series of sounds; maybe 'chirping sounds' was not the right description...more like a set of repeated sounds, somewhat like a muted phone ringing or something like that??
I don't have a SIM card installed in my Shift.
Could this be some sort of alarm notification??
Came on yesterday, when I thought Shift was shutdown....don't know how to shut it off when it happens, but finally went away after happening a few times...
Any ideas as to what to check to stop this???
Thanks!
Hi archimark,
is you chirping sound sound like some noise,or a regard system sound? If the sound comes from WM side, you should check the alarm setting, and maybe your appointments.
You can update using windows update, except for the touch drivers update, which are a kind of downgrade.
THANKS, thaihugo!

Good question about that sound...hard for me to describe it in words, but is somewhere between a soft telephone or alarm sound, series of repeating, modulating tones, is best I can describe it.
Will check on WM side, but I haven't really used WM side at all.....
the sounds are likely from the WM side ... i usually get those sounds for notifications, new email allerts, etc... shift gives quite a few notifications etc if it feels ur connection is not configured properly etc.. hence these sounds.. do one thing:
Liberate ur shift and then from WM side mute all sounds .. then soft reset and see if u find any such sounds...

Thanks for the suggestion, studdocs, will give that a try and report back...would be great to get this solved!
Sounds a lot like the low-battery notification to me... that's when mine makes a kind of 'chirping' sound... if not that, it could be that sound used for something else...

Aha!....I'd wondered if that might be a possibility....
One thing I just remembered that I didn't mention before, is that when I hear the sounds, I also see the indicator lights pulsating below the display area located on the frame surrounding the display....
Does yours do that too???
Thanks!
that would definitly be a reminder on the WM side...

Alarm doesn´t repeat

My built in alarm suddenly doesn´t repeat the sound eventhough in the settings the repeat box is checked and it has been working great until a couple of days ago. I soft reset and...nothing. I only installed lately a new skin for WMplayer, that's all...Any suggestions? Can anybody recommend a reliable alarm which also display the time at which is set on the S2U2 screen when phone is locked.
Thanks in advanced and
Marry Christmas to Everyone!!
where u did find the repeat box?
clock/alarms...Click on the little Bell icon and you'll find it.
Well this isn't help with a problem but I am having the very same problem and it started after 6.1 upgrade from HTC website.
Please search for "How to Enable Repeat Play Audio Sound Notifications in Windows Mobile"
You will find the solution!
Sorry but there´s nothing about my thread: "Alarm doen´t repeat" in there.
It seems to be all about messaging...
i have the same problem !!!
plz help !!! i want 2 get out of bed in the morning xD\
cya
install G-alarm! it is a good substitute for windows mobile alarm!
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=download
you have lots of options! like having a mp3 as your alarm!
good luck!
ty it worked
cya
if you can't get it sorted, try a longer audio tone as a workaround
