Help with Etisalat settings... - Networking

I am so frustrated with Etisalat at the moment and I can not get MMS or GPRS to work on my new phone...is there any one here that can help me? I am desperate to get this working :-(
My new phone is the Samsung BlackJack i607 (i600) with WM 5 on it.
I also wonder if anyone knows where to get WM 6.0?
Thank you all for a great forum!

The problem I have at the moment is that my phone hangs when I send a mms or when IE on the phone opens a web page?
I sent a MMS to my wife and she recieves it but my phone hangs and the only thing I can do is to remove the battery.
I have no idea what to do.

Hi!
I am getting a bit desperate to get this phone working and I need some advice on where to begin searching for help...
The problem I am facing now is that every time I send a MMS or start a GPRS session the phone hangs. The intressting thing is that the MMS reaches the reciever but as soon as the GPRS session starts it hangs the phone. Can this be related to the radio version that is not working with the network in europe?
As you understand I need help!
Thank yo all!

Hi all. I just bought my Nexus One and I'm so excited. Unfortunately I'm facing with a real problem: I can't figure out how to setup APN for MMS. For internet was easy. My Carrier is Etisalat and I am leaving in United Arab Emirates. I have also HTC Hero and Mototrola Milestone and I have the following settings:
Name: mms
APN: mms
username: mms
password: mms
MMSC: http://mms/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 010.012.000.030
MMS Port: 8080
APN type: mms
Works brilliant, but with Nexus it doesn't.

Vodafone IRELAND MMS on XDA2 - Solution!

Hi, I'm a relatively experienced xda2 user. I have vodafone internet working fine but not MMS.
I have (I Think) the correct settings for WAP and MMS and when I send, it connects to the vodafone wap connection and the icon appears in the notification area for sending the mms but it never goes. Also, a reveived mms will not be downloaded to the xda2, just an sms appears to tell me to log on to the vodafone website to see it.
Also, I cannot browse wap wites in IE or special wap browsers.
Vodafone customer care tell me it's all set up their end for my old phone (RAZR V3) and that they have no settings for xda and therefore it may never work. They say every specific phone needs specific settings on their end for mms to work.
Has ANYONE got MMS working in Ireland for Vodafone on XDA2. If so, what are your exact settings and what phone does Vodafone think you are using? (maybe some settings on their end work for XDA).
THANKS!!!
Never mind
Got it working.
hello ,
i see your with vodafone, have been running with them about 6 months with no probs but crashed my xda11 last week and cant remember the gprs setting.can you please let me have a copy of your settings.
cheers

MMS and TMobile on the DOPOD 838 PRO

Oi..
The troubles I have been having!
I recieved my 838 Pro last week and have FINALLY gotten the internet/GPRS to work. I had been following the directions for the MDA on the tmobile website for how to get such things to work, but all I had to do was NOT use a proxy server.
But I cannot for the life of me get MMS to work. It wont send a message, it will recieve a notification that I have a message coming in, but will not download the attachments.
I'm in Boston MA (USA) if that helps at all.
ANY help would be very very nice as I've spent more than 9 hours with customer service on the phone with Tmobile and countless hours searching the internet.
Thank you.
Pretty please?
Is there really nobody in the states using tmobile with this hermes device?!?!?! None of you use MMS?!!>!>!??!
I just want to know your setup please.
here is the mms server info i have with my o2 xda trion under tmobile.
server name: T-Mobile MMS
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port number: 8080
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: (your data connection)
hope that works for you.
What are your settings for the data part? I already have exactly what you do....
Oh wow...
THank you so much... I had .050 at the end of my string and you have .50..
Guess what now works.
You've just solved something that their top tier of help couldnt figure out.
Now one more question for you..
I send an animated gif or a big jpg to myself.. when I get it back it's always a jpg and always around 5 or 6 k.. What gives?

n00b question. Please don't flame

Hi,
I just got my hands on a HTC herm100 (cingular 8525). I was able to superCID it and unlock it. Now I have my tmobile sim card in and it works great with one exception that I have been banging my head on. My MMS is not functional. I have made sure to change the network settings to show wap.voicestream.com with no UID and PWD. When I tap "connect" it goes out to the GPRS (as far as i can tell) and connects fine. When I send or receive a pic/vid message, I get an error saying "unable to send/receive your message". I have been through the MMS configuration a million times. Verified the gateway, port, and server address. I noticed on the herm100 there is no option to select the WAP version, on the MDA it gets set to WAP 2.0. I am on IPL-1.01 and SPL_1.40.olipro via the boot loader screen. Would some one please help me? I have a lot to learn since I am new to all of this.
Thanks for any help
Dunno how this is wherever you are, but in norway there's a seperate gprs connection for MMS..
you can select the wap version in messaging->options->MMS->servers->"servername".
Thanks for the reply. I updated to the latest ROM from HTC and it gave me the additional options I needed to get the MMS working. Thanks

Some questions before jumping in!

Hello
I wanted to wait for the Legend but the small screen will be boring after a while, the Desire will be available here in Lebanon in one month since then I would lose 70$ of depreciation on my actual Aino(that I will sell) the Nexus One would be nearly at the same price for me.
I am extremly tempted to buy it but I have some questions first:
-Can we use WAP connection(old edge)?
-Is the screen so bad under sunlight? I hope it's at least better than 5800 and equal to Satio.
-Can we ''unbrick'' a N1 in case of bad flashing with cooked ROM?
- WAP isn't like Edge, 3G or anything. WAP is just the old mobile version of HTTP as i understand it. So the N1 uses HTTP rather than WAP.
(im happy to stand corrected on this though)
- Its fine for me, just turn the brightness up a little if its very bright outside.
- If its bricked then it can't be recovered (hence the name BRICKED). But if you do a bad flash you can restore a backup to revive it.
Opera Mini for Android is not in WAP format?
Pfft i dunno, im going off the default browser. Why would you want to use WAP anyway?
I hope your not thinking WAP = Edge. WAP is a protocol, such as HTTP. WAP is not a type of connection (e.g. GPRS, EDGE, 3G....)
Here's the connection config:
HomePage: http://m.alfa.com.lb
Bearer: GPRS
Proxy IP: 192.168.023.050
APN: wap.mic1.com.lb
Username: mic1
Password: mic1
so it can work with N1?
I looked on your carrier's website and their page doesn't give much information about the bands they use for WAP .etc.
Give customer services a call and ask them.

Are you saving your settings?
You can find a way to bypass google activation using this
yes, it's saved, and I tried the touch 4 corners method, couldn't get it to work, if you can explain to me how to make that to work, from which corner, clockwise or counterclockwise.

Check your settings again.
i used the same VPN setting, saved, tried hard reset, then type in the setting, still not connecting... does 'leave blank' mean leave it nothing to type in, or u really need to type in 'leave blank', i know it sounds silly, really running out of options to try...
hahahah, means leave as is. dont do any change
believe it or not, I went to AT&T store this morning, they couldn't get my sim card to work with one of my other at&t phones... then I asked the guy to borrow his company sim card to activate my MT3G, and it works
something's wrong with my data pan acct or the sim card, which is my 3rd brand new sim already

Good that ATT admitted it was their problem.
