Terminal Services Client.... how to connect to Console?!

hi i need to connect to the console of Windows Server 2003... because every time i connect there is two sessions are ON and eat the RAM
thanx
can you provide any more info?
personally I have created an internet connection and a work connection (vpn) in the exceptions list I've added *.au.mydomain.com
fire up terminal and connect to
servername.au.mydomain.com
all works like a dream (except for the fact you can't run full screen )
I think what is asked for here is something simular to mstsc /console on the desktop. As far as i know it is possible.

True ... that what i was talking about thanks for making it clear
Having the same question..
Let me try to explain
I have a windows 2003 server at home,
this is also my personal computer, this means it has a nice screen, keyboard, mouse and some nice games on it.
When i`m on a job i connect on my laptop to my ACTIVE console on my home computer, this means i change the shortcut to "remote desktop" and add "/console" to it. Now when i connect to my home server it will take over the active console.
Does anybody know if this is possible on my qtek 9000 terminal services client???
Regards
I am also looking for a solution to this please. I leave one of my servers logged on and need to access the desktop whilst out and about. On a PC i just use remote desktop client with the /console option, but have been unable to find a way of doing this with a pocketpc. Alternatively any suggestions on good fast remote desktop software that works as well as remote desktop over gprs.
oooooooooo
Just before i hit send on this post I thought I would try and find a different approach. What I have found is a workaround that at least lets me do what I need until someone can suggest a way of connecting directly to the console.
You can shadow a terminal server session from another session, including the console. So.... connect to your server using the terminal server client, this will start a brand new remote dekstop. Go to the command prompt and type
shadow 0
This will then connect you to the console. For this to work you have to make sure that you enable permissions for the shadowing to take place. Do as outlined in the following article.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;278845
look for the bit right at the end that says
To configure the Windows Server 2003-based server to permit remote control, follow these steps:
although change step 7
7. In the Options box, click Full Control with users' permission, and then click OK.
Change it to without users permission otherwise it will sit there waiting for a response on the console

yes, many athena users use terminal services/remote desktop to reach their desktops or servers. You must be able to get to port 3389 (or other port used for remote desktop) on your home or work network.
rermote desktop
can you explane me how i can do that or please email me [email protected].
thanxs very much

Firstly log into your router and open port 3389.
It is best to test your connection with Wifi first as at least then you know you're halfway there!!
On Vista Ultimate (which is the same as mine) enable remote desktop connections to your computer. This is found in control panel/system/remote (tab) on xp - should be somewhere similar on Vista.
You also need to enable a password on your computer's login page.
You should now be able to log into your pc via wifi by entering your pc's IP address (found by entering IPCONFIG on the command prompt) on the remote desktop mobile display.you will need to enter your login name and password below this. There is no need to enter a domain name.
If you have a static IP address you should also be able to login this way over 3G. However if your connection is dynamic (such as with Virgin Media) you will need to go about it slightly differently. register with www.no-ip.com and they will provide a free static address for you. No-ip runs in the background on your Vista pc and you simply login on your pocket pc with the address they provide (rather than 192....laadeedaa) - for example (yourname).no-ip.biz.
Everything should then go hunky dory.
remote on athena
thanxs very much for the interest.i`ll try it.

newbie remote desktop user

hello everyone, im a newbie to remote desktop and want to setup my u1000 to conect to my workstaion via wifi and internet as well. i just recently upgraded my u1000s rom ap3.
i could realy use your help pros..
u guys can also direct me to some link to useful info on settngs..
or any other replacement for remote desktop..
im sorry if thess silly questions doesnt needed a thread...
but i desperatly need the settings, as buy u1000 was one of my main praioriities
pls do help me frnds...
thanx in advance..
im no pro but i have it working here!
First off,to use it over the internet you need to make some adjustments on the pc end unless you have a static ip.
got to somewhere like no-ip.com register and d/l the software so you have a way of naming your dynamic ip.
Then you need to ensure that the allow remote connections is enabled on the pc and that your routers ports are forwarded if they need to be(mine did).
Then you should be able to enter the name of your ip (from no-ip.com) and password to logn from the rdp program on your dopod!
It should be similar over wifi on a LAN but instead of the no-ip name you just enter the computer name and password.
Forgive my terrible explanation of the setup but i can never quite explain myself properly.
Their are loads of tutorials on the net for setting up rdp and other tunnelling software like vnc.
have you tried ... ??
Sorry if this doesn't answer your question. However, I wonder if this might help. Check out www.logmein.com. I use it to connect with my desktop and it's free. You can remote adjust the settings to 640x480 and it works well -- even at 800 x 600. It's free!! (you can pay to upgrade to different features, but I never have.)
You might also look at orb.com. I can't get the video streaming to work well at all, but you can (also) connect with files on your computer and download them to your athena. It's also free.
As far as vpn tunneling, I haven't had much luck getting it to work. There's a company called hotspotvpn. Their service is cheap and works great with a regular laptop. They advertise compatibility with windows mobile, but I could never get it to work. I'd love to know if anyone else was able to do vpn tunneling and how.
Hope this helps somehow.
1.) goto www.whatismyipaddress.com that will tell you what your ip address is
2.) if you have a router you need to find out (follow me) you desktop ip not the ip address that the website gave you but the ip address your router gives you.... (you can find this by going to start --> run --> type in cmd hit ok --> then type this in with no quotes "ipconfig /all" hit enter it should be somthing like 192.168.1.1XX or 192.168.0.1XX
3.) goto start menu right --> click on my computer --> click on properties --> click on the remote tab --> half way down click the box under remote desktop
4.) goto router and tell it to open port 3390 to your local ip found in part 2
5.) open rdp on pda and type in ip from part 1

[Q] How to use Remote Desktop Mobile

Hello.
I can't find tutorial how to make this program to work.
By the way, i'm under router on my network. What i need to do to make that program work ?
thanks
Hi Mate
launch remote desktop (you have to be on your home network for you to remote onto another PC on your network- WIFI?)
Computer: Type the target PC's IP address (to get that IP address on that PC hold down the WINDOWS key on your keyboard and press the key R
now in the box thats poped up type in CMD and press enter> now in the black dos box type in ipconfig and hit enter - you should get the IP address)
Username / Password needs to be what you log in with on that PC
domain - leave blank
and thats it.
You ofcourse need to make sure that remote desktop connections are allowed on your PC and the right options are turned on
good luck

[Q] Sending command line to remote desktop

Hello all,
I have been searching the forum but could not find an answer to my question. I have installed a TightVNC server on my dekstop in order to remotly control it by my HTC desire. It works great with the android VNC app.
But the thing is, i only want to send a command line to my PC without using the whole app. I'm designing my own app where i want to send a command lines to my computer. It's just a simple app with a few buttons in order to switch my lights on and off in my room. I have running it on my PC right now with winlirc, which can be controlled by entering a command line.
Is there anyone who can provide me with the Code that connects to the server and can send a command line? If it is not possible to send a command line, then maybe just a way to send a keystroke so i can use autohotkey to act upon it.
Thanks
Have you tried SSH?
I'm working on a windows PC with openSSH at the moment.
But that is just in order to create a secure channel. Don't need it right now since i'm only working in LAN area. Just need the source code that i can put in my app in order to send a command/keystroke
