I STFW & the net & I still can't find any answers on this. I do a lot of multi tasking on my 8525 & I found that when I was in a call the scroll wheel only controls volume. I'm usually surfing the net on my phone while I am talking to people & using the d pad is very inconvenient. I was wondering if anyone knew of a fix to where I could get the normal functionallity of the scroll wheel (ie ACTUALLY SCROLLING THROUGH WHAT I AM LOOKING @). Any light shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
There is possibly a registry change that can be made, but you would probably not be able to use any longer for volume. Somebody might have a solution though, haven't seen one in the threads.

Hi, wonder if anybody has a way to get rid of the keyboard clicking sound on the Universal?
It would be so far better when use in quiet meetings. I was looking at the sound setting but didn't find anything there. Want to check to see if there is any registry heck or other ways to fix this.
Thanks!
go to settings->sounds
disable there the checkbox for the hardware buttons
This is strange as the hardware botton box was never ticked in the first place... I tried tick and untick and softreset it but it does not seem to work. The keyboard clicking sound still there...
Any further advice please?
The keys have a mechanical click sound built in - very difficult to get rid of.
On a similar subject - anyone know how to turn off the clicks that happen when you use the start menu?
sounds and notifications - uncheck 'Events (warnings, system events) I'm not sure what all else you lose, but it turns off what you wanted.
Thank you.
It would be so nice to have a seperate volume level for sms and system sounds.
It really is bad to have them put into one volume setting.
Developers... any ideas? Calling Vijay/Buzz... and other smart PPC devs?
the clicks are mechanical , you can't get rid of them,
a trade off between membrane and swith activated keyboards,
although more noisy, the switch activated responseivness is better
cheers
C
Thanks all for your responses. Looks like I'll need to explore other input methods during quiet meetings...
Hi,
I have a touch dual, and there are 2 things i have been searching hi and low to find a fix for.
1. When opening any sms or email, it opens, and scrolls right down to the bottom of the sms. I then have to scroll up to see the message. Is getting very annoying...
I was told on the forum here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=836216&p=1
That it is to do with "Same on the TyTN II. It has to do with the D-Pad scroll from the TouchFlo."
Anyone got any ideas, or registry edits that can fix this.?
2. The keypad on my dual always defaults to the letter C instead of the Letter A. Very annoying when trying to write an sms, as letter a is .. well 100 percent more common by itself than C.
On a side note, i have noticed a bit of sideways movement on my touch 'screen' or the top half of the slider. Is this common? hoping doesnt get worse, might need to get it repaired.
Any help would be appreciated.

A lot of us are getting this, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356340
Mine is only a week old, so no problems with the slide ...
However, I've got the same irritation with the C instead of A - very, very irritating.
There is some registry tweaks around that can make scroll wheel (D-pad edge) scroll in some applications. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2721517.
I am wondering if someone can write a liitle application to generate some kind of clicking sound just like ipod or blackberry trackball. THis will be cool. Thanks in advance.
Hmm, that's a good idea actually...I'm not sure how much feedback the scrollwheel actually provides though (I heard it was a bit...vague...)
Hey
As the topic title suggest i have been thinking alot about this ..
Since many people hate the way you change between words when using the phonepad on the diamond (either by tapping on the word, or by using the d-pad which can be tricky) i thought: hey what about using the nav wheel to scroll between words? when scroling in one direction it will go left and when scrolling another direction it will go right..
There is the one solution however which would be to change to the new Touc HD Keypad which has arrows.. This works really great, but the keys are too small if you ask me..
I am no programmer, but i wish i were, but is this possible and if it is, how hard would it be to make?
And is this idea good at all ?
~D
I am no programmer either, but oh my fuc*ing god that sounds like a great idea
Just bringing this to the top.. Just want to hear if this is a good idea.. ?
Not a bad idea. But the NAV button isn't as hard as you think once you figure it out. Don't try pushing the button itself, but push to the left or the right of the button.
See the following thread to understand what I mean.
I used to hate the NAV button until I came across the article above.
Nice idea, i have think about it self
The only potential problem I see is that anything written or developed would also have to disable the Zoom funtion of the NAV wheel when the dictionary is visible and reenable it when it's not.
Otherwise it would scroll and zoom at the same time.
Hi all,
I recently picked up the 2.0MHL to HDMI cable along with a Bluetooth mouse and Bluetooth (what appears to be Apples style) keyboard to use with my S4. So far I'm enjoying the experience in terms of uses and navigating relatively easily through the phone. Currently using NOVA as my launcher. Volume, home button, back buttons were easy to figure out. Accessing the multi-window, recent apps/task killer is not a problem. I can't however, for the life of me figure out how to access the MENU button via. the keyboard or mouse. I've done various searches and YouTube videos online and people mention how the right click doesn't access the menu but neglect to mention how to ACTUALLY access the menu. I did see 1 video where it mentioned Control P but when I had tried that, it was a shortcut to select either music player or Google play. Has anyone else had this problem? Any luck with finding the right short key? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

I know this is a late reply to your question, but maybe I can help. I bought a mini bluetooth keyboard designed to use with windows, and for a while I had the same problem. I. could access everything on my S3 except the menu. I searched, found your post, then started randomly trying different buttons. I'm not sure if your board has this key, but it's between the right Alt and Ctrl keys, it looks like a square with an arrow pointing inside it. That`s the menu button on mine. Hope this help, and sorry for the long reply.
