Access Extended Rom - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi all,
I want to know how to access the Extended Rom on my Magician. I tried installing Total Commander and going to "Extended_Rom" but it didn't work. I accessed it once when I hard reseted my phone and it was plugged in the USB cradle. I need to access the Extended Tom so I can make a copy of all pre-installed application setups.
Please Help.

The trick is after a hard reset, imediately do a soft reset immediately after the last screen alignment step. In this way the ext rom files are not installed and are viewable and can be copied to another partition of your device or to your pc via active sync. this procedure doesnt totally unlock the ext rom, thus you cannot delete and/or copy files from/to the ext rom partition.

In your windows directory find the exe - loadvdisk
run it
this will 'show' your extrom

Does it really not work
Some people had written, it should work to edit the extended_rom.
But all I found don't work on the magician. There are many unlocking tools for the extended rom.
The only way seems to be the big rom, where the memory of the extended rom is added to the storage folder. But with that method you will lose the contents of the extended rom.
OK, it is possible to save it on a sd card, but i am searching for a edit-solution, so not to delete the contents but ossible to use the free 5 mb in this folder.
I hope that sometimes anyone will find a simple solution not to hard reset the magician.

Deleting Files

I'm having trouble deleting files in my XDAII. Everytime I delete a file I get stock to the waiting timer that goes on and on. In the long run , I get to soft reset my unit because this does'nt stop. After the reset the file is still there not deleted. I have a spb pocket plus program installed. Does this have to do with it.
Thanks
only with file explore or also with better filemanagers like total commander ?
even with file explorer and the menu using delete command. Do you know whats wrong?
what i asked was if you have tried other file managers then explore
because explore is really not that good and if your problem could be solved by using another manager then .......
I just had a similar situation this weekend. My SD card was full, and I downloaded email.
I could not get file manager to delete anything, though it would successfully copy to a new SD card I installed. Eventually, I tried deleting files from Album -- it worked!!!
You might try Word or the Notes program, too (though I haven't).
Go figure.
There's my $0.02
If you are trying to delete files from sd card, try removing the card then reinserting, the other thing is to make sure you close all running programs except the file explorer.
It happened to me too with the ROM 1.66, the only way was to remove the SD ant to insert it again...
After solme days it stopped to do it and now with the new 1.72 ROM it works flawlessy
I have that problem when I use the default file explorer, but only when deleting files from the phone as opposed to the sd card.
In the end I decided to do all deleting from the phone memory through my PC as it works fine from there.

Permanent Contacts/Calendar..

it seems to me that due to the storage and memory structure of WM2005, this may not be possible, however i find it a major drawback over WM2003se, as it used to be possible to store contacts and such on ROM so you could always recover them should you have a hard reset..
what if JASJAR craps out someday? i'd probably have to wait till i get a chance to get to a PC and sync my contacts and calendar again :\
someone please tell me i'm wrong
Hi...
I have been running a XDA II for a number of months with WM5.0 installed.
The contacts/calendar informtion is stored in a file called "pim.vol" held in the root of my device.
you can copy this file to your sd card any time you need as a back up for your data.
Should your device "crap out" and you need to restore this file, simply rename the pim.vol file in the root to something else, copy your backed up pim.vol back to the root and soft reset.
This works fine on the himalaya with wm5.0 so should work on the universal.
Hope this helps
thanks for the tip steverae..
now i wonder if it's possible for WM2005 to read this file directly off an SD card, or perhaps the extended rom (less likely)
This may help to back up any data

Missing Directories on Memory Card

Hi @ all,
since a few days most of my memory card directories disapperaed. There are only the My Documents folder (which is empty, too) and a TEMP folder I created left on the card.
Although I searched for some threads like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324 all attempts failed.
The space on the card is still occupied and when re-installing programms a new Program directory is created with the same name as the dissapeared one. I have one program when the installer claimed to remove the previous version first before re-installation. So it seems to find something (but I assume in Windows directory or registry).
How will I get the dissappeared folders back? Is there any other chance than formating the SD card and re-installing all programs?
I'm using bepe's cooked German WM6 V0.96 (the last one) and a 2 GB miniSD-Card. It worked quite well since a year now...
Thanks for help,
TC

trinity, for some reason, spoils the FAT and reestablishes it with new data. the FAT is like a directory of "where to find what on disk".
as yout fat doesn't work properly, especially it doesn't show off the used sectors or clusters, all new storage will overwrite and destroy this way part of your old data.
so if this happens, remove inmediately the sd-card, put it into your PC card reader and pass it trough file appropiate rescue programs and you'll mostly find almoust all files.
so take a breath, download file rescue pgm's to your PC (some work better, others have many options, others ...) and have a try.
after the rescue, format the SD in your PC.
mine is just passing the rescue :-( and it's rescueing about 1600 files yet

low storage memory

Hi,
While using internet explorer on my HTC P3300, message appears that I am running out of storage memory. I am trying to find junk files or unused files, but without success. Is there any application for cleaning storage memory, or I have to do it manually. The problem is I can't find where the files are stored.
Thanks
hello,I think your solution would be a hard reset, although you will lose many unwanted.
you can save on SD card and reinstall all lose.but I got that maybe?
you have deleted browshing history?from IE Tools
http://freewareppc.com/utilities/pocketcleanerplus.shtml
this is your easy solution
ClearTemp!
its freeware..
if its an original rom your using try flashing your phone, this will free up memory on your device, install everything to an sd card.
youl never see that message again.lol
if you flash, uspl cmon - first!

[Q] How to recover personal data from a partially booting phone

@anyone:
My friend's HD2 starts loading, it shows the desktop then its just hourglass...
Stock 3.14 EU ROM.
I can easily hard reset, but he asked me to somehow save/recover his personal data (addresses, contacts, etc).
So I have not hard reset his phone just yet hoping that one of you guys can help me...
What can be done?
Thanks in advance!
If You have mortsript installed, I presume you can do various things with it together with having an autorun folder on sd card called 2577, like copy pim.vol file to sd card etc. Just an idea.
Addition - You can register .mscr files with the autorun trick and run Your .mscr to copy pim.vol to SD then. Basically that should be it, after hard reset You can just replace the pim.vol again. Haven't tested it tho, but in theory should work.
