Hi,
While using internet explorer on my HTC P3300, message appears that I am running out of storage memory. I am trying to find junk files or unused files, but without success. Is there any application for cleaning storage memory, or I have to do it manually. The problem is I can't find where the files are stored.
Thanks
hello,I think your solution would be a hard reset, although you will lose many unwanted.
you can save on SD card and reinstall all lose.but I got that maybe?
you have deleted browshing history?from IE Tools
http://freewareppc.com/utilities/pocketcleanerplus.shtml
this is your easy solution
ClearTemp!
its freeware..
if its an original rom your using try flashing your phone, this will free up memory on your device, install everything to an sd card.
youl never see that message again.lol
if you flash, uspl cmon - first!

I am running into a very strange situation and I am wondering if anyone has an answer to this:
After I had to hard reset my s200: I am restoring my backed up files using SpriteBackup. I have done this many, many times before with the s200 as well as my x51v and I have never had a problem at all.
Now all over sudden after I am done restoring my files (I have tried 10 different files, since I am backing up every night) I am getting this error message:
"The file "application" can not be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to re-installl or restore this file."
So, essentially I am not able to open any of my applications (all are stored on my SD card). Is there anything I can do in order to avoid having to re-install these? Furthermore, I have a lot of settings, which I can not simply duplicate anymore (like MMS, GPRS (internet via Tzones), etc. etc.) and I really would like to avoid having to do so.
If anyone has a remedy to this problem, I would very much appreciate any help!
Sorry about the long text and tehanks in advance
Hi,It does the same things on my spv m600:copy all the files from your sd card to your computer.Format sd card an put the same name before hard reset ( my sd card : sorry in french :carte de stockage, and after reset name was changed : storage card ).If you've not the same name softs don't work.Maybe you must change the name directly after format in the phone registry.
Marc from France.
Thank you Marcdu81! I have tried this already but without any luck.
Thanks for your advise!
Have you format your sd card with you pda or your computer ? You must format with your pda.I try to find a solution for you.

I formatted the the SD card with my PC. Let me try to format it using the PPC directly.
Another very strange thing is that I tried to re-install some applications but I am not able to even do that anymore. I am doing another hard reset and try to re-install some applications... let see.
OK.I use spb backup and i never have problem to use my softs.
I have a SPV M3100..
Recently i tried installing the Net framework cab file on my sd card.
But before the installation could finish i got a message stating Storage Memory Low.. ...
To free up the memory i also uninstalled the mobile shell but of no use..
Any suggestion how i can install the programs on the sd card .. i have around 5Mb free Storage memory...

It may be that you have too many apps installed to main memory but equally important are other things:
1. Clear your P. Internet explorer history and saved files in the PIE options menu.
2. Do a soft reset (stylus in hole) you should notice far more memory on restart. Various temp files are cleared and memory leaks sorted by doing this.
3. consider getting an app. that that cleans out various temp files etc - there are a few around.
Mike
PS uninstalling some programs leaves behind large settings files.
Hi,
I bought unbranded sim-free HD2 with 1.48 ROM. Since i bought the phone, I never installed any software on internal storage. I always select SD Card.
Yesterday I tried to download a 65MB file on my SD card through Opera and I got error insufficient storage.
My HD2 shows Total Storage = 181.47 MB, Used = 105.63 MN and Free 75.84 MB.
Could you please share how much free storage you have and how can i increase the free storage in my phone.
Thanks
Guys,
Please guide me to increase my internal memory
To be honest, that sounds pretty normal. I'm suprised you'd be trying to download a file of that size to your phone.
Can you not just download it on your PC and then (if it needs to be on your phone) copy it across using a USB cable?
Edit:
There are methods of freeing up some space - search for moving cache files and you'll probably find something.
Usually I'm not as patient as members like Skip or Antonio to name a few, but you could take a look at this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this post.

Thanks for OPera cache tip. I'll try that
Hi pda_crazy
The 181.47 is your onboard flash storage, you need to see SD Card under settings>SD Card & Phone Settings down the bottom
Your phone is not detecting your card because it is probably corrupt, I tried to reformat my 2GB SD that came with my phone because mine was not detecting the SD card and windows said it was corrupt. Purchased a new 8GB MicroSD and was able to format disk and since then the phone recognises it and had no problems.
Hope that helps
Try the attached cleantemp program,
in the menu/main settings change the custom folders to:
1. windows/opera/profiles/cache
2. application data/htc/album/cache
3. windows/youtube ( you may not see this directory if you dont use youtube)
Clean the phone
This should help
like 4tune said: there are some threads, which explains, how to save main storage, also sticky posts. just use search function of Board in Leo-Area.
e.g. "save or free" "main storage"
or
"move google maps to storage card" (would save 20-40 mb)
or
"treesize mobile" (free app which shows you where/how much you have stored - perhaps you know it from your PC)
And everywhere also the same remark all above: install as much as possible and senseful for you by default to storage card.
I'm a T-Mobile Rep and stumbled upon this thread when trying to help a customer set his default storage to the SD Card. While I was reading this thread the customer actually solved his own problem.
Go to MarketPlace, Select Menu, go into settings. You will then see where you can set the default storage to Memory Card. I'm an android guy but I'm learning more and more about Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, and even Nokia/Ovi/Symbian.
Cheers!
It seems that Opera 9 saves downloads to a folder on the phones 'device memory', but it doesn't always delete them when you tell opera to do so in the downloads menu tab.
It saves them too: \My Device\Windows\opera9\profile\download
When I deleated most of the files there, it released over 110 MB of space in the device storage .
I wonder where other programs save similar files?
Sam.

How full is the phone memory? Details...
Did you download something? Downloaded files usually goes to the root of the main memory.
search moving cache on here, that takes up a big chunk of memory...

I've got the same problem with my son's phone it keeps on coming up with the message "your phone is running low on free storage space. delete old or unused items to create more space" when I look in file explorer/ windows/youtube its full of old files but will take for ever to delete them indavidualy does anyone know how to remove these old files as I can't access them when the phone is conected up to the pc, plus is it possible to change the cache so these files are saved to the memory card instead.
Please help as my son is driving me around the bend asking me to fix it !!!!!
Hard reset the phone to clear the storage.
Also check you don't have something like voice recorder activating in your pocket or something creating large files of nonsense filling the memory.
I've managed to delete all the old you tube files 525 of them but storage memory is still full
total 180.98mb
in use 177.89mb
free 3.09mb
so now I don't know whats using allthe memory
does any one have any idea whats wrong
cheers

youcan access them from your computer so long as you allow hidden and system files.(in win 7 open the phones windows folder, click alt, tools, folder options, then I think its the second tab, un tick hide protected files and the hidden files one, apply and they should appear.you MAY need to apply to all folders)
or, use resco explorer on your hd2, much than the built in one and will also allow you to choose to un hide system and hidden files.
as for multi select...in resco is a menu option for multi select.
Going to do a hard reset but can't keep on doing that every time it fills up it's only been 2 weeks since it was last reset.
Please Help! Accidentally deleted the entire My Pictures Folder - trips to India, etc!
& while I can find ways to recover data from the card I can not find how to recover files & folders from the machines memory
It is an HTC HD2
Any Ideas Please ??
All & any help Most gratefully received
Thanks in Advance

Once it's gone, it is gone. Unless it exists somewhere else, it is gone.
ouch, that really hurts... there should be a way to undelete from the phone's memory. if there is one, i hope you find it.
There is still hope...
Hi, don't just assume that once you've deleted it, it's gone. There is still hope for your data. You see, when you delete something it doesn't actually get removed, the OS just "hypnotizes" itself into forgetting the data is there. Over time the data will become overwritten (depending on how much you used the sdcard your pictures were on).
There are special programs designed to recover deleted files, I recommend Recuva by Piriform (same guys who make CCleaner).
http://www.piriform.com/recuva
Just point it to your sdcard and scan. Again, depending on how much you've used your device they may either be completely gone or easily recoverable.
Good luck

I second knobbyhtccruise's suggestion. Dont use any apps that may write to your phone memory. Just try ActiveSync method and use this software i have attached below.
Unzip the file to desktop. Connect ur HD2 via AS.
Run Restoration.exe and in Drive see if you can access phone memory. Goodluck
No data recovery software can access the phone memory of HTC or else other smart phone etc
Can't be saved dude. No go dude. No go.

Try http://www.datarecovery.com/. It helped me. It's not free, but you can try if it finds your files for free. Does it find it, you have to buy it to be able to save the files. Worth a try! Good luck, man!
Firs of all, many thanks to all the respondents,
perhaps someone would be kind enough to help me enhance my understanding?
As far as I know a file system allocates space for files & directories, when it is told to delete something it does not do that but instead merely marks the space as available by setting a bit / flag on that entry. This being why it is imperative NOT to write to the file system in the case of an accidental deletion & a recovery program merely reverses the process to mark the space from available to unavailable & displays the entry again
in some expert hands even a hex editor can be used to undelete / recover data
to my limited knowledge both the internal memory & the sd card use a fat32 file system
given the above, I do not understand what is the difference & why data can be recovered from the sd card but not from the main memory. Perhaps someone more qualified can set me straight please?
A random thought - would there be any use setting up a dual boot to android & would that help / harm my case - thought being that there may be more tools available?
once again TIA
M
once a file is deleted, the space is marked as resuable. Therefore, stop using the device because every of your activity may be destorying (overwriting) your deleted data beyond recovery.
SD is recoverable because you can mount it to a PC using a card reader, or even using the HD2 directly. Then most software can read the storage and try to recover. Phone member is presented to the PC as a connected device and it may not be possible for other PC software to access it like a storage device. If you can find a tool that copies the whole 476MB (or whatever) memory to somewhere else (PC hard disk, SD card, any passive storage that is not a phone), then those software will probably to able to handle it.
here is a program that can undelete files from external and internal storage. good luck.

I assume it might help if he has NAND android, otherwise it won't.
did some searching and found two programs that may or may not help on WinMo
Wizcode Unformat Mobile
Wizcode Undelete Mobile
not sure if they can access phone storage. but you can try. hopefully, you haven't fiddled much with your phone since then. it's been about two months.
I believe Wizcode undelete mobile works on storage card only.

so I think the only hope is by sending it to a service center hoping they have tools to mount device memory as removable device, and tools to recover deleted files.
and next time, save your photos on your SD.
if you know anyone with a copy of your photos, now is the time to start calling friends.
