I've got the famous alarm problem. I've used SK Tools to clear the notification queue. When I turn the TyTN on, the alarms are still there. When I clean again using SK Tools the notifications come back.
I just cannot get rid of the alarm problem.
Anyone else had this and know how to fix?
Try pmClean from here; http://www.pocketmax.net/redial.html.
Thanks. I tried it and still nothing. I m trying to avoid a hard reset but that starting to look unavoidable...
Are they coming back through Activesync maybe?
Yes it's a puzzler alright. Only one thing occurs to me and that is to ask if you are performung a soft reset immediately after running SKtools? If so don't. Shut down the device by long pressing the on/off button until the warning message appears and tap yes. Re-start by long pressing on/off button.
Mike
Thanks for all the advice.
I ran pmClean a few times and lo and behold, no more alarm problems

Have been trying to search for this topic here for a while. The red flashing light on the XDA2 wont turn back to yellow when a notification is dismissed or snoozed. The only way i can get it to return to normal status is if i receive an SMS, or i go to Sounds and Notifications. What's up with that? and how do i fix it?

have you tried setting the time limit of the flashing red light? start/settings/sounds¬ifications/notifications. select an event ( eg: inbox New SMS message) uncheck the flash light box. that should solve your problem.
'been experiencing the same problem intermittently. Especially when some of my reminder went off or when I receive an SMS. What I usually do is perform a soft-reset, at least once a day. =)
I cant really disable the flash coz i need to be notified of events, meetings, etc. Its weird coz if i force an alarm (say, 2 mins from current time), alarm goes off, i dismiss it, works red flash goes away. Works without a hitch. But if its an event that's been scheduled for, say, a day or so... red flash whole day unless i go to sounds and notifications.

I've also had this problem on occasion. Fortunately there is a less harsh solution than a soft-reset...
Use Start | Settings | Sounds & Notifications | Notifications tab, then drop down the Event combo box and select any other event than the first and tap OK.
This procedure doesn't actually change any of your settings but does seem to reset the light.
thanks... I'll remember this one once that glitch happens again... =)
This is exactly what I do. Was hoping there's already a registry solution or patch out. Kinda irritating if you have lots of meetings in a day.

There is no need to do anything else after selecting Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications. Just tap OK immediately after that and the red blinking light will go away.
This problem only started occurring when I updated the ROM to 1.60. The previous ROM didn't have this problem.
On occasions l have that just going into start/settings/sounds & notifications, and then hitting ok, sometimes does not kill the light. Seems to depend on the kind of event that triggered the alarm in the first place.... Either way, just hiting ok or going the extra step as suggested earlier in the thread seems to deal with it.
bug.
the RED flash notification light is another bug in the 1.60 and 1.66 WWE ROM, yes SETTINGS-NOTIFICATIONS-OK seems to solve the problem and there is no registry hack. Though, IT IS BETTER to soft reset your device once in a while to REFRESH the memory, to avoid damaging the tiny soft reset button, install a soft reset program and just tap to SOFT RESET.
As presented by T3 Magazine, The XDA 2 is the smartest PDA, but its not perfect, though I STILL LOVE MY XDA 2.
RED flash notification bug fixed in 1.72?

Does this mean that the problem is gone in 1.72WWE ?
I've not done the upgrade yet because 1.66 has been very stable (for me) but this might just be the reason I've been waiting for ...
Well I'm under 1.72 WWE and I have the same problem but ever since I insstalled a Socket WiFi card. The driver installs a new Notification Event called WIFIICON and every time I insert the WiFi card and the system detects a hotspot the notification light (red) will continue to blink forever. If I go to notifications and select, say 5 minutes, it will continue forever, if I disable it, it will disable until the next WiFi session and then have to repeat procedure all over again... :?
It does not bother me much, but since a WiFi session by itself consumes lots of battery the last thing in my mind is having another power consuming feature turned on.

You missed a crucial step. You should go to Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications and after pressing the OK button, the red blinking light will go away. Don't forget to select the Notifications tab. It works in my unit every time.
After picking up on this thread, I have been monitoring the 'clear' function more closely and up to now, touch wood, being in notifications and just hitting ok, seems to be doung the trick. I am pretty sure I have tried the same thing in the past and, on occa ion, it has not worked without changing an event. But my memory may be playing tricks with me I'll continue to monitor and see if any come up...hopefully not

Not on my device. It is necessary to select a different notification for the screen to 'realise' a change has occurred and kill the light.
I got my Exec yesterday and I've only got the one problem. For the first two hours or so, I could get the phone function to work. Either by going through the 'Start' menu or just by pressing the green call button.
I've woken up this morning and although I can press the green buttons or the option on the start menu, it'll be beep but that's all it will do, it'll just carry on with what it is doing.
Anyone else had this problem or got ay suggestions?
I had this problem when I ended the phone application in Task Manager. A soft reset fixed it for me.
Hi,
I've got two niggly problems with my TyTN:
1. Despite having the power options set to 'turn off device if not used for' set to '2 minutes' the phone never actually powers off, the backlight goes off but I can still see the screen text and buttons remain active. (the only thing running in the background is Spb Pocket Plus).
2. Two days ago I set the alarm for 6.30 AM, it went off, i then adjusted it to 7.30 AM. This morning the alarm went off at 6.30 AM and 7.30 AM (I double checked the settings and there is only one alarm set).
PS. I also have a keyboard which doesn't respond perfectly to every key press although I am finding this is improving the more I use it.
I add point 3) e 4) :
3) Sometimes when alarm rings I can't see nothing... no Notification...just the ring...therefor I can't stop it!!!
4) It's happened two times... I set sound off... through comm.manager ( I'M SURE) and after a while when my friends called me the phone rang! It's strange don't u think?

In my TyTN this problem seems to be connected to phone module. In fact when the phone module is inactive, my TyTN correctly sleeps. Moreover when it is in charge and when the backlight off timeout is set to greater time than sleep timeout, I can observe that the device correctly sleeps.

this happened to me yesterday! Alarm ringing but no notification and no chance to turn it off!
After 3 hours the red led was still flashing and the problem was there...
Solution? Hard reset

3) Can happen if you go and remove alarms from the notification queue, for example memmaid can be used to do this.
Or use check notifications - see my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=60426&highlight=
I just resolved by mammeid. MUST have software
I had this same problem on my TyTN, also could be fixed using MemMaid - the old alarms stopped ringing after deleting the clock.exe entries in the Notification queue.
However, the alarms STILL aren't working ok, because any time I set a new alarm when it rings I don't get any notification so I can dismiss it, so it keeps ringing until I delete it again using MemMaid. Any idea of how can I fix this?
Thank you.

I deleted all the entries using MemMaid... then I soft-reset and now I don't have any problem using alarm! Notification appears again so I can stop it!

I have exactly the same problem on my 838Pro now (used to have this happened to me on my 818Pro as well. Didn't know what to do, so I hard-reset).
Marques, are you able to try what El_Mar1ach1 has tried, that is to delete all Clock entries using MemMaid and do a soft-reset? Create new alarm using Clock and see if you get any notification.
I could have tried that myself, but unfortunately my unit is in the service centre, and won't be getting it back until tomorrow or day after.
I have a good restore on my storage card that will bring this problem back for me to try when I get my unit back, so that at least if this happens again in the future, we will all know how to resolve it.
Yesterday wasn't working. Today I tryed again the same procedure and it's back to normal. Working again...
Meanwhile I installed PocketAlarm (http://pocketalarm.iit-bsuir.com/indexen.htm) and I'm starting to use it instead of the system alarm.
Do you guys know any other nice alarm applications to test it out?
Can anyone help with this one?
Afetr a soft reset my mini s vibrates (approx 1 second) and bleeps the alarm 1 notify message. It does this about 6 times at 5, then 10, then continues at 30 second intervals. The red led flashes untill I fully charge it again.
I have checked the sounds and notification but can't find anything that it might be - I thought it might be the signal for a wireless network.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
I was actually having the same problem. My alarm (that was no longer set) kept going off at a certain time of day for no reason. Also when I soft reset, the alarm/notifications also went off. After reading this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=353267&highlight=reset+alarm+notify#353267, I tried turning off all options under Sounds & Notifications > Notifications > Event: Reminders > uncheck all. Now, try a soft reset and everything should be back to normal. (Re-enable the settings if you wish or just try the Phone Alarm program like other people to avoid the headache.)
I tried alot of things, but this one worked. I tried to remove duplicate notification entries and see if any outstanding processes were running under Task Manager--neither worked.
Notifications
Try using memmaid to see if you have any old notification in the queue (not the same as looking at the "sounds and notifications" applet.
You may find old and duplicate notifications in there.... don;t just delete them all - as some of the notifications are required.
You should have searched first - there are loads of posts about this.

I sometimes have to do a soft reset on my phone when it starts having issues. Sometimes the vibration mode even gets stuck and won't stop. So, when I do a soft reset alot of my latest text messages disappear. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? Thanks for your help and time!

I have that same issue. The only thing I can think of... is before you soft-reset... exit sms/mms... then go to task manager and end the process on sms/mms. Then re-open it... and make sure they are saved still. I haven't tried this.... but might later.

You would be correct sir. I have it set so when I 'X' out of my text messaging it still runs in the background. I started noticing that when I soft-reset the text messages would go away. I reached the same conclusion as you did and assumed that since it's still running, it really hasn't been "saved" yet and the messages are in limbo. So before I soft-reset, I made sure that the text messaging program was closed, then did it. When the phone restarted the texts were still there.

do a shutdown instead of a soft reset.
hold in power til it asks you to shutdown, then let it shut down; then power it back on.
another thing that worked for me, was instead of hitting the soft reset button, i just hold the power button down, and shut down the phone...that way it closes out all the processes and saves my texts.
I didn't even know you could power down the phone. I always wondered what I could do in the movie theater, my phone kept turning on and it was driving me crazy. I would just hit the power button for a second and I thought that would turn it off, but it kept poping back on when I got a text or something. I tried it once today and it seemed to work. Thanks...

Guys the text message problem only occurs when you soft reset via stylus. Install psshutxp and use it to soft reset every time and you will not lose any messages.
