Alright, so I have another 8125 here that had a broken screen. I replaced the LCD but now when I turn it on, it just shows up all white. I thought the phone might have been messed up but it's not, the computer recognizes it fine. Anyone have any ideas with what's going on? Thanks!
Is this in any way related to your other thread? The one where you say you ripped the ribbon cable?

No, this was a different phone, and I got it to work ! yay!
I had a simular problem and found it was a stuck button that caused the screen to go white.

I need help...
My T-Mobile MDA can power up but it will just stay on a white screen & after awhile, the backlight time-out & swtiches off.
Tapping the screen or the power button will bring it back on.
All the buttons seem to be responding & the system sound comes on when I press some buttons.
What might be wrong?
Several soft reset will not bring me to the standard screen.
Is it a hardware issue or software issue?
Please advice me what I should do to recover from this situation.
Thanks!
konker
Update:
I finally performed a clean reset & the standard WM5 "tring" sound came on.
At least, the system board is working fine.
But nothing appeared on the screen except for the greyish-white background.
I also brought the MDA into the bootloader mode but I don't see the Tri-colour screen.
What should I do next?
I noticed from the MDA Service Manual that there's a flex board for connecting the screen/front panel buttons to the system board.
Could that be cause of my problem? Or is it the LCD screen giving me problem?
Please, anyone who has experience with this issue, I appreciate any help I can get.
TIA!!
Is your MDA out of warranty? Do you have insurance? If no and I were you I would probably take it apart and check for a loose or bad connection. You got the service manual you should be good to go.

bendog2784,
My MDA has no more warranty nor insurance.
I took the plunge & disassembled it.
I made sure all connections are clean & tight before reassembling the unit.
The screen still stayed greyish-white.
This morning, I screen suddenly turned on but for a brief moment.
It seems that when I slide out the screen (or slide out the keyboard), half way through when 2/3 of the k/b is exposed, the screen looks just as it should.
Beyond that it will blank out, kinda like a device having been put to hard reset from an operational state...except that the backlight stays on & then greyish lines start to appear.
So now, I'm not sure if it's the screen that's causing problem or the flex cable.
The flex cables are very hard to find where I'm & very costly too, judging from eBay auction listed.
Would appreciate any help to revive the screen of my MDA.
Thanks!

What happened to your LCD that prompted you to replace it?
Did it crack?
If mine was cracked & there were fragmented display showing through, I would have gotten a replacement LCD with no questions asked.
However, in my case, the LCD is not showing anything other than a greyish white shade no matter what I do to the hardware.
I'm not sure it is a LCD problem as I mentioned above that yesterday, I got it to work for a short period of time at a certain position.
That said, I can get a replacement LCD for my MDA for less than US$25 here.
If it is an intermittent problem (as you described) I'd check the flex cable again.
try to reseat the connector that goes to the LCD (the large one that is locked in place with orange tape and the little brown clip on the connector itself).
help
hi im having the same probs with my vario, have you havd any luck sorting this out?

Do I blame the onboard video or the LCD itself for this problem? I've taken the phone apart and re-seated the motherboard connections, which was no help. If I connect using EveryWAN the phone appears to be working fine, in fact I flashed the T-Mobile ROM and than the Button ROM thinking it was a IPL/SPL issue. Even if I try to start in boot loader mode the screen still looks the same.
Just trying to decide If I need to replace the motherboard or the LCD.
Thanks,

Screen seems intact without any damage visible, no cracks or out?
Had this problem once with my old Universal, was the colour transfer wires that were loose, but pretty sure the Uni is totally different to our wizards.
Prehaps open her up and see if theres anything thats loose prehaps.
I had it opened and re-seated both the connecting cables, but no luck.
Ive had this problem with my wizard .. i couldnt find a solution. tho i didnt really try very hard. Basicaly just picked up another one on ebay for like £30 seemed cheaper than spending the time and effort fixing it. I think mine got progressivly worse. It used to do it occasionaly and now just it as soon as its switched on
i have a same sort of problem...
left of the screen fills with lines and the whole screen fades to white.
turning on and of the screen via power button takes it back to normal but then it happens again.
noticed it only happen in portrait so i have to set it to landscape all the time
for some rom and spl's it happens just a few times a day and others i cant use it in portrait.
If i find a solution it might be working for you to
Fading white screen of death
Could be the battery. Have you tried a new battery?
Solved.
The LCD itself was bad.
So my phone was working fine and then one night it froze and then when i restarted it the screen showed up as a white line. There are no cracks on the lcd so i'm not sure whats going on. It turns on and sounds go on and everything but i just can't see anything past this white line. Should i check the connection of the lcd? Or should i just replace it entirely?

Looks like you may have a loose connector between the screen and the board. If you can open the device, do it and make sure that the ribbon is properly connected. If that doesn't solve the issue, you may want to consider replacing the screen or even the mobo.
So there isn't anything wrong with the lcd or the digitizer? it would either be a loose connection or the mobo? Can you even purchase replacement mobos for htc touch vogue?

Hello,
I dropped my Nexus 4 (EG960) couple of months ago, ordered a new LCD + Digitizer and started to replace the screen myself.
Everything went just smoothly, I removed the broken screen, put the new one, put everything back together, slowly and safely connected all components, turned on the phone and.................
Guess what? The phone is turning on, but I can only see stripes of different colors all over the screen. I can see that the Google animation is working in the background and that the phone successfully booted. I can actually still see a line where the previous crack was.
I tried reassembling and reassembling everything slowly but still see the issue.
I can attach a picture if needed.
Am I missing anything?????
Thanks,
Liran.

Well it's great and all that you took apart and put back together but I'm not a big fan of repairing screens, digi, etc I think no matter who fixes it will never be the same as before if you could I would try to sell it and just get another one.. Or take it to a professional and try to get a warranty with repair.. Just a thought..
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
And still I did, and wonder what to do next. If to try and replace other components or just give up.
Option 1 is more suited to me.
Thanks a lot
Same thing
Does anyone know a solution to this problem? I replace the screen, the same problem.

We can just guess.. Maybe you damaged a flex cable or a connector/plug. If the problem persists with a second screen then I think its something on the mainboard as suggested..
maybe this helps?

I try smack method, to leave some days withot the battery, to drain battery, new battery ....

Did your previous screen still show an image after breaking?
Possible loose connection?
Possible cable damage?
Possible motherboard damage?
Possibly wrong screen? The S4 does not have an LCD screen.

No, it wasn't worked
I mean amoled screen
Any help ???
I don't think anyone here can help you because it could be a hardware problem. You'll either have to get another working screen or working motherboard to isolate the problem.
