Bluetooth dialling using headset and MS Voice Command 1.6 - P3600 General

folks,
I have an Orange M700 stock ROM, Motorola BT headset and Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 installed.
Has anyone managed to get the button on the BT headset to activate Voice Command? I can use the headset in calls but not initiate Voice Command.
This used to work just fine with my Prophet.
I tried unbinding the Voice Dial key on the handset, hoping that might help but no.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

I should add that I have search hi and lo and cannot find a similar case for the Trinity.
I'm not interested in messing with BT settings- just want try and configure VC 1.6 to work!

I had the same problem activating the speed dial from BT headset after flashing mUn Rom. but after a lot of hard search, I managed to find the solution in registry:
1. Go to: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
2. Change the string value called "BTAGExtModule" from "OEMAGW.dll" to "BTAGExt.dll".
3. SoftReset.
It work with Cyberon Voice Speed Dial, but I have not tried it with MS Voice Command.....
Good luck.

thanks shayd,
I'll take a look and see if it works!
If it does I'll be buying you a drink ;-)

so I opened up the setup.xml file for VC 1.6 and found that the equivalent file for VC 1.6 :
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
BTAGExtModule =vcbthag.dll
So maybe if I change the vcbthag.dll to BTAGExt.dll it may work- but I need to confirm BTAGExt.dll exists....
I suspect this file might be part of the cyberon install.

ah got it working with another solution- my BT button now opens VC- I'm not convinced it's using the headphone mic to listen to commands though.
These keys did the trick- though I manually edited using a reg editor.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand]
"LaunchAPEnable"=dword:00000001
"VoiceCmdEnable"=dword:00000000
"Path"="\\Program Files\\Voice Command\\voicecmd.exe"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway]
"Capability"=dword:00000025
"BTAGExtModule"="BTAGExtModule.dll"
"SupportCLI"=dword:00000000
Basically I had to Create new the String Value Named "Path" with string "\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe" and change HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
BTAGExtModule =vcbthag.dll to BTAGExtModule.dll
thaks for your help shayd!

I am using an O2 Blue headset, and it operates voice command flawlessly.
The problem I have is that it does not replay the MS voice command voice through the headset, but via the trinity speaker. I have adjusted the settings, but it does not change.
Does the MS voice come through your headsets?

Some JASJAR tips and tricks

I've been playing with the registry of my JASJAR and have found a few tips I will share.
WM5 built in GPS control panel
For some reason this is not active in the settings of the JASJAR. To make it visible do the following:
Fire up a registry editor
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delete the DWORD marked "hide"
Add a DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.
MS Voice Command activation from BT headset
Now this one is sweet and makes the JASJAR the daddy for voice commands.
Install Voice Command to the default location.
Fire up a registry editor
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
Modify the string marked "path" from the default \Windows\SDDialer.exe to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe
Now, when you press your BT headset connect button, MS Voice command will fire up and take commands through the headset. It's reponses will be played through the headset too.
Hope you like them.
JASJAR rom
Is the JASJAR rom upgradable traditoonaly (SD upgrade, USB method? )?
Assuming you have wwe version could you dump the rom and upload it?
I am planning to buy a Tawiwanies JASJAR and change to English version can somebody help with tips / tools etc ?
THx, great peace of register changing !!!
Update:
It would appear that voice command doesn't operate when the device is in closed mode. Works fine in PDA mode, or mini laptop mode.
Not sure why at this point as it gives the *bing-bong* sound to indicate it's waiting for a command, but nothing happens.
Any ideas?
It appears that the GPS control panel was hidden because it does actually not work.
I paired my Emtac BT GPS with my JasJar and selected "outgoing com port 4". TomTom7 only lists com7 so I am trying to use the GPS control panel to connect the GPS com4 to Com7 but TomTom continues to indicate NO GPS. As I can not select com4 in TT5, I am unable to use TT5! Any suggestions are VERY WELCOME.
I also tried other software GPSDash2 and have the same results. This software does allow me to select com4 and provides me with a connection. When I select com7, I get nothing.
Has anybody tried this? Any suggestions?
GPS Dash works for me in WiFiFoFum.
Can't get anythng to work in TomTom though.
Navman
Well I have navman Smart ST, and couldnt even get it to install in order to test it. There goes a $700 AUD investment, cant even use it, bugger not that it worked well anyway with WM2003SE, it worked fine on the original WM2003, but not any further releases. Anybody want a NAVMAN product?

This works excellent. Thank you. But you have to give the voice commands directly to the device. The headset doesn't pick up the voice commands and it starts working as sonn as the call has been established. Any idea on how to give the voice commands through the headset? I've also tried with the carkit and same problem. Both on handsfree profile by the way.
Hmmm. My voice commands are given through the headset.
Pretty sure of this.
That is strange. I guess I'll have to hard reset the system then. Damn!
Voice command activation definately works with the BT800 (cept for the closed case issue) . Gotta wait for the beep. Thanks for the tip Rilot.
it's possibly due to my bt headset and car kit not very compatible. After some reading, I've found the following post and modified the registry with the the following string. Now it's working 100%, voice commands through BT headset included.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device\000e6d8ef421\Services]
delete the key that holds the values for the "handsfree profile".

I wonder, is there any reason we cannot dumb the voice dial program and its files and use it with say the PPC 6600 or Blue Angel devices so we can get voice dail over bluetooth?
This works great with jasjar and voice command (as long as device is not closed). It even sends MP3 through the bt head set (not very good audio tho) as long as you initiate wmp10 via voice command. Just start voice command and say "Play anything".
The Other Voice dial program works well also.
Hi guys
rilot >> thanks for the tips
guys i need some help with a small aspect of VC,
When you receive an incoming call voice command will announce the call on your device is there anyway to get this sound transferred to the headset (bt800)
Using the reg edit info provided by rilot we can transfer music and use the headset to activate VC, i was just hoping if theres a way around getting the caller announcement to sound on the headset as well
your thoughts??
thanks

The only way to keep get the BT voice command work even if the device is closed is to set the device not to be switched off "start / settings / system / power / advanced / uncheck turn off device if not used for "
To avoid being left with a flat battery you have to then tap backlight and set it to turn off backlight if device is not used for 30 seconds.
Then tap brightness and set it to the minimum level on battery.
If you do these settings you will never face any problem with voice dial via BT even if the device is closed.

Question about Project VCABT and Cyberon Voice Dialer

Hi,
I installed Project VCABT followed by Cyberon Voice Dialer and I can use my Bluetooth Headset to make a voice dial perfectly.
Anyway, I would like to use Fonix VoiceDialer but so far failed to do so. Fonix VoiceDialer would not run if it is not located at the instalation folder so renaming it to sddialer.exe and moving it to Windows folder is not an option. I read around this forum and found out that I suppose to be able to redirect using registry.
It suppose to be located in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand
I am supposed to change the Path value to Fonix VoiceDialer. But it seems that this also does not work. Any idea anyone?
Thanks in advance.
Just make a shortcut to the relevant exe, rename it to
VoiceSignal Launcher.exe
and dump it in the windows folder.
Nope... not working. VoiceSignal Launcher.exe is not used and is already deleted because Cyberon replaced it with it's own launcher. Renaming the shortcut to Fonix Voice Dialer to sddialer.exe also does not work.
If I installed Cyberon only, pressing the button on my headset does not cause the Voice Command application to start.

microsoft voice command

I really miss microsoft voice command from my jam. Does the program work with the Jamin?? If not, has anyone figured out a way yet?/
Thanks.
Works fine here. I can assign it to a bitton but do not know how to get it operated from the bluetooth headset button - anyone got any ideas?
Regards
edit the registry to get headset working;
hklm\software\oem\voicecommand\
edit the path key to the location of voicecmd.exe
eg: \program files\voice command\voicecmd.exe
that should do the trick.
What program do you recommend to write that to the registry?
total commander
I don't usually initiate a call with the headset. I mostly seem to answer them and make calls via MS VC on the handset, then talk using the BT headset. Anyway, MS VC works great on the jamin and the BT headset volume is wonderful. After the low BT headset volume on the eten m600, I forgot what it was like to actually hear someone on the other end.
I've got to say that the jamin has exceeded my expectations thus far.
I cannot get Voice Command to work on my jamin. The voice does not repeat the numbers or the contact. Any ideas?
Thanks.

MSVC doe not support BT on WM5. I don't use the Jamin, but have done extensive research on MSVC and BT. There exists methods to engage MSVC, but require the hack, and possibly BTSoundOn utility. Also certain BT headsets work better with the connect button than others. For example, the Motorola H700 does not work using connect button to engage MSVC on device, but the h500 and H850, and some others do work with hack and connect button.
See following: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/02/03/524289.aspx
On a PPC the hack is as folows: You must have Microsoft Voice Command installed to use this hack. Goto "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path". Change the default value from "\Windows\SDDialer.exe" to "\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe". Now you should be able to activate Micrsoft Voice Command by pressing the connect button on your bluetooth headset.
Using the H700 BT Headset you must use BTSoundOn (preferrebly assigned to a button on device), this initiates the sound to BT, then click button for MSVC, it does work. On BT Headsets like the H500, or 850 the connect button does the job, but it does not get MSVC on first click, but on 2nd and sometimes third. When u getting it working it works well.
I searched the forums, but can't seem to find a link to BTsoundon?

Where can I get a copy of MS Voice command?

Make your BT Headset work with MS Voice Command!

I'm a new member here - found this place last night... But, I have been frustrated using my BT Headset with my phone (a Cingular (HTC Wizard) 8125) - when I try to use it, it defaults to using the built in Voice Dialer software. This of course meant that I had to program all the commands into the phone so it would recognize my voice. Well, after looking through the forums here, I realized that a registry hack would probably fix the problem, and so I went searching...
Anyway, I'm sure that you are all interested in the trials and tribulations I've been having with my phone, but to make this shorter - I found the hack to make voice command work with any BT Headset.
Here it is:
Using Total Commander, navigate to the Registry, and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand. Change the value in the PATH to \Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe (the original is \Windows\sddialer.exe).
Now, when you push the button on your BT headset, Voice Command will activate instead of the Voice Dialer.
P.S: I don't know why it has "VoiceCommand" under the OEM Software section like that.
(ADDENDUM: Seems that this info is out there on the web too - just couldn't find it myself - anyway, it's the same info I just posted here... Someone beat me to it and I just had to "find" it the hard way)
Black-Wolf
Good info -- and definitely worth doing. Works beautifully. As you noted, it IS out there too -- mentioned in various spots here, and on HowardForums.com.
Good reference too is to search for "Darryl Burling" -- a MS employee now I believe -- former MS MVP and software developer. He's got a freely downloadable CAB called "VoiceEnable" that handles this nicely.
Also - while you're at it: good to remove "sddaemon" from your startup folder - no longer any need for it!
works on BA also?
this is for MS voice commander 1.5? my unit info is below, would it work same way?
going to talke a look at darryl's site too.
lastly, is darryl's cab same MS VC or very similar?
thanks all helpful info
Daryl's cab file
I have tried and tried to register for his site so I can download the cab file. After 5 tries I gave up. Can someone post the cab file.

Voice Command over a Bluetooth Headset - No go after hack
newbie here!
I am trying to get my BT Headset button to activate Voice Command and am failing.
I have completed the registry hack described here:
Using Total Command I found \\registry\HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand (Default Value: \Windows\SDDialer.exe) and modified the value to \Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe This is the default location when Voice Command is installed to the main memory.
I waited a while, performed a soft reset, and I can not get the button on the headset to function (i.e. activate Voice Command). I use a Plantronics 510 and have the Cingular 8125 with the Stock ROM on it. I also have a couple of applications on the device loaded (Total Commander, Battery Pack Pro and an employers IM client)
I did try to download and run the CAB for Voice Enable (This is the hack I found on the forum). However this CAB did not seem to do anything obvious. Nor did it help with activating Voice Command.
Can anyone offer me some thoughts on this? I appreciate the help VERY much.
This hack may work on others devices, but you cannot find this path in the treo 700w to make voice command work over bt. Voice command is installed by default when you buy the device. Has anyone been able to to find the reg. entry on a treo 700w for the vc dialing hack to dial over bt (SDDialer path), or does anyone know of a reg editor that will let you search the reg. on wm5?
Thank You.

not familiar with your unit but do you have your headset working properly? completely? i don't know if this will help you but try finding the latest BT stack. also, if you are running wm5, i believe you are using a MS BT stack. don't quote me on that. but my reading has led me to believe that MS stack is not the best. your buttons are BT profile based. look for AVRCP profile. i'm no expert but these are things i had to update for my stereo BT headset (pulsar)
good luck,

Head set and Voice Dialer
Hi Guys,
I have looked at the thread above, but have not been able to find the registry setting in OEM...
Instead it is in a microsoft directory (\\\registry\hklm\software\Microsoft\voice Command\
Do you know where I need to change the parameter?
All I would like to do is to control voice commander via the Bluetooth unit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Voice Commander Reg Hack now Plays music Through Bluetooth

I used the following directions to use MS Voice Commander instead of the SDDialer.exe. Now the voice commander doesnt work but I can hear all my phones audio through my Bluetooth. I think I like it and am going to keep it like that.
Copy BTAGExtModule.dll to windows folder of pocket pc
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
Edit "BTAGExtModule from "BTAGExt.dll" to BTAGExtModule.dll"
If these are not already there:
Add new dword name it "LaunchAPEnable" data should be 1
Ok now under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\
If it is not already there create a new Key named "VoiceCommand"
Under VoiceCommand
Create new Dword Named "VoiceCmdEnable" data value 0
Create new Dword Named "LaunchAPEnable" data value 1
Create new String Value Named "Path" with string "\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe"
Now soft reset.

lord, you did that the hard way.
Change the sddialer.exe value to the voice command executable value.
Press the bt headset button.
You're done.
All audio gets routed over the headset now. 8)

Don't mean to switch gears on you but looks like you solved this one. While using my bluetooth headset (cables unlimited BTH-A6a1) when i push the "MFB" once it lauches the Voice speed dial program on my 8125. I have MS voice command installed, is there a way to switch it so the MS VC launches instead?
I can't make it working on my MDA pro with Qtek 9000 rom. Any idea?
