GPS Control Panel??

Hello, I've read a few posts that mention a GPS control panel, one in particular gave a registry change to enable it, so I popped into the registry to turn it on, but it was already on.
My question is where is the GPS control panel? I've got TomTom on the way, so would be good if it worked!
I'm running the latest Imate ROM on my Wizard.
Cheers.
start-settings-connections tab.
Sorry, I should have said, 'why isn't it there', not 'where is it', but don't worry, I did a search and found the answer - the first registry tweak I read didn't tell me to delete the 'redirect' DWord. Deleted it and it's appeared.
Can anyone explain why it's not there by default and if it causes any problems by being hidden like this with installing GPS Devices and Navigation software?
Is there anything else hidden that I might want to turn on?
Cheers.
I own a Magician not a Wizard. I also have TT with original TT BT GPS receiver and it worked straight out of the box - no registry tweaks.

because it probably has no use with BT GPS systems. Its there because WM5 natively supports GPS systems that are built into the device, like the HTC Galaxy
Similar to GPS Gate
It's functionality (from what I've read) is supposed to be like "GPS Gate". The idea being you have one GPS receiver connected to your PPC, but you're able to "share" the GPS data with more than one application. I was only able to get it work properly with ONE piece of software (Mapopolis). You do not need it to run TomTom. I'm not sure why it doesn't work with other applications though. If I were you, I would not mess with it.

Wireless Stereo Switch (or other solution)

Once my Bluetooth Headset is connected to my Prophet, all my notification sounds come through my Bluetooth Headset instead of the phone speaker.
The sound for normal incoming call works as it should though (through the speaker).
The only way i've found how to solve this problem, is to uncheck the "Wireless Stereo" option under:
Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > i.Tech Clip R35 > Partnership Settings
And then when I want to listen to music through the Windows Media Player, I have to do the opposit.
So, my two questions...
1. Is there a way to map notification sounds to always use the phone's speaker? (or)
2. Is there a small shortcut / Today-plugin that can switch "Wireless Stereo" on/off in one click?
Cheers!
Eric
Yes there is, i use a software called BTAudioToggle, you can place a shortcur to a launchbar in the today plugin, it works fine for me...

Thanks Hybrid, unfortunatly this was a bit wrong...
It seems that this program routed the sounds to the Bluetooth Headset if I wouldn't have "Wireless Stereo".
Hence; it had its functionality when I turned off "Wireless Stereo".
The solution was in the right direction though, but not really right...
BIG note though: It messed up the sound on my normal "Wireless Stereo" mode. So the sound now has a distortion as well.
Ehm but i remember there a software which did the same like btaudio with stereo headsets, but this one costs money. You just have to google, cause i dont remember the name

I found one called BlueMusic: http://www.teksoftbluemusic.com
Could that be the one you're refering to?
BlueMusic unfortunatly got about 99 functions that are more or less useless, packaged in a big memory overhead with nice graphics.
I just wanted the simple on/off switch...
ADD:
I'm running WM6, that's probably why most of BlueMusic's feature are superfluous.
My father got an Aus P535; when he uses the bluetooth headset, an icon is displayed on top, near "start": by clicking that icon, it is possible to redirect or not notification sounds to the headset... I didn't try that on the prophet, but I hope this can help you. bye
@overone: Hang in there...I'm trying to create a solution for one-click wireless stereo on/off..Will let you know as soon as I'm done...
Guys, been trying out a few things on mine AMEO qith BT8010's, it would appear that two reg entries are modified when turning on/off wireless audio.
I have attahced two reg export files bton.txt for audio on and btoff.txt for audio off.
if you look at lines 23 and 61 these are the values the executable will need to toggle. I dont have enough knowledge to code it up but if you know how to by all means give it a try.

Problem with WiFi

If I press wlan button in Comm Manager than WiFi should be ON but it is not. I did use some different roms but still nothing. Somebody know what to do ?
settings-connections-wireless lan - there is only message:
Wireless LAN is OFF.Turn on Wireless LAN.
It does not work. Please help me.
Go back to wm5. If your lucky it might come back. The more I dig through here the more I see people with wifi problems after flashing. You might be out of luck
HOWEVER
I noticed under WM6 the bubble that pops up when you click on the wifi tower ALWAYS says 'turn on wifi'
Good luck!
Same problem with my WI-FI, Not working please help!!!!
Hi All. I am facing the same problem with my WI-FI as Vomithaus is having. Whenever I try to to connect to WIFI from Commmanager, it tries to and then to show disconnected. When i go to settings> Wireless LAN, it asks me to "Configure Network Adaptors", and lists all the adaptors and going into them asks about the ip settings and stuff like that. By the Way I Bricked my phone once and then i flashed with T-Mobile Ship WM6.0 RUU for the WING. And I strongly suspect that the registry setting are not right or the Radio ROM is F***ed up. Can any knowledgeable person help me please? I would greatly appreciated any help.
Same problem with my WI-FI, Not working please help!!!!
This is the addeneum to the last post. The last remaining screenshot for the above post. The last screen shot of the "Wi-Fi Status" in the "Settings > Connection", gives me an option to "Turn on Wi-Fi" but toggeling it results in nothing. Thank You everybody for your time and consideration.
It might help us to figure out how this happened too. I bought the EXEC off of ebay and it was like this from the get go. The previous owner flashed it to wm6 about 1 month ago, but said it was working fine... all he did was hard reset to get rid of the personal information. I want to believe him, but there are a few people on here complaining of flashing the exec and losing wifi. (even the official rom from O2).
Flashing COULD have damaged the transmitter, but it seems more likely that a setting is wrong somewhere (especially since there is a slider bar for WIFI battery vs performance).
This is good news (somewhat), but the bad news is that if there is one, no one knows about it. I have messed around in the registry (there were some promising entries related to POWER), but nothing that even showed a response. I found the entry that connects to the slider bar, but PERFORMANCE = zero, so there is nowhere to go there but WORSE.
This really sucks, is all I can say. I blew $500 on something that is useless (well... not useless, but no WIFI? WHY COULD IT HAVE NOT BEEN BLUETOOTH!)
Another step I have taken is contacting PPC Tech's via email and asking them if they have any idea how to repair it, and how much $$$
I'll keep you informed.
Can you tell me if yours EVER worked, and if so, when it stopped?
I just looked closer at your screenshots.... Do you have a WIFI card? (it say's 'adapter').
No, I dont have a WIFI card but this is way how windows handles all is peripherals (services), as an add-on card. just like you laptop.
Guys, There is a registry fix for this problem.

Ron
I am afraid Ron that this is not a case as suggested in Beowulf6's solution. If it is the solution I dont know how to exactly implement it. But I am posting here the exact registry key screenshot for you guys to take a look also. I can't see and TNETWLN1 or TNET12345 key here in my device. I still think it has to something with the registry. Can any one here with a T-Mobile WING verify and post their screen shot? or maybe send me a registry backup to compare with? It would be really grateful it some does that. Thanks everybody for a few seconds to read this.
In my herald i can't see TNETWLN1 or TNETWLN12345 too.
I did use Mobile Registry Editor for that , what you guys are useing?
(sorry for my English, if you dont understand me just tell me please)
Look at the screenshots, there a Reg Folder with the name WLAN, open it, and then open the key with all the numbers and letters. At the end of that line is a code. TNETWLAN1 is what it should be for the Herald.

It is like Bio88 says.
You are already on the right track... click on WLAN and you will find the key.
Change the value of the key into TNETWLAN1

Hi Please look at my screen shot again clearly. I did post what is inside the WLAN folder. There are only two keys :
1) (Default) \Windows\ctlpnl.exe
2) CmdLine cplmain17
I still can't figure where is the key with numbers and letters. Sorry If I am a bit dumb or wrong. Thanks.
it is possible if you use the default Commanager that you dont have this registry key.
I dont know if it helps if you create it on your own.
but for me where i installed a different commanager, the Key was there and i edited it for the wlan button.
My Tmo Wing has "TIACXWLN1" in that registry key.
Do those changes apply to the herald and the Wing interchangeably?

Voice Tags not working on WM6 Typhoon

I am using Andots WM6 ROM on my SMT5600 and my phone works better than ever. However, Voice Tags do not work on the phone or over blue tooth. You can create a voice tag but you cannot activate them. Can anyone point me in the right direction to trouble shoot this. I need to know if there is an application that is launched when you hold a button to activate a voice tag? Or, is this a function in the headset or hands free profile? Could it be a simple registry entry I could import from WM5?
Thanks for your help.
Same problem here
I have the same phone & problem.
And I can't charge through USB.
Anyhow, this version improves the typhoon far beyond previous versions. It's faster than wm5, wm5torage is incredible, there are no memory leaks (with wm5 I ended up with 2mb free and had to reboot frequently)
Cheers.
Did you enable USB Charging from Power Management? It's weird, cause by default, its enabled and it works

Thanks for your help karhoe
I tried to do what you mention, but when I disable USB charging, there is no sign of charging (expected behaviour) and when I turn it back on, the problem continues.
Last night I reflashed to wm5 so I can:
- Check that the phone still can charge through USB (it charges ok)
- Get the font configuration in the registry so fonts look the same in wm6.
- Try to identify how voice tags work and see if I can take some dll/key association back to wm6.
I'll post results!
Mariano
Ok, I'm back to wm6 and I've found the following:
* USB charging works OK... I don't know what caused it. I'm reticent to install wm5storage, maybe it has something to do with it.
* I made the fonts look exactly the same as wm5. This is how:
In the registry, set the following:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GDI\SYSFNT\
CS=0
Ht=4294967281
It=0
Nm=Segoe Condensed
Qt=5
Wt=400
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\Button\StFontWeight\Wt=700
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\Menu\BarFnt\
WtMUI=700
Wt=700
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\GWE\OOMFnt\
Ht=4294967284
Nm=Tahoma
Wt=400
Anyway If you have Tahoma in your device's Windows directory some programs will look different.
Finally, regarding voice tags, I could only discover that there are no links like HomeLP.lnk or things like that to call an executable. It must be done some other way. :S

With regards to bluetooth voice dialling, ive now got the phone responding to the button by changing oemagw.dll but voice dialler is not launced, it just connects to the phone so you can hear it. Does anyone have a copy of microsoft voice dialler so i could test(an evaluation copy)?

Now voiceTag is working fine. Great!
Found a way to enable built in voice tags over Bluetooth.
Ok, I have found a fix to enable built in voice tags over Bluetooth on the SMT5600 with Andots WM6 ROM. Create this registry entry and you will be able to activate voice tags by pushing the action button on the bluetooth headset. I have a new problem though. When you create a voice tag it is not clear and hardly legible. Can anyone help with this?
Browse in registry to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
Create a new DWORD Value and name it “ Capability “ give it a value of “ 37 “ all without quotes. Save and reboot the phone and it will work.
Please let me know if this works for anyone.
Thanks for all the help.

Help with what file WM6 uses for voice tags
Can someone please tell me what .dll or file is used when you record a voice tag. I am using Andots WM6 ROM on my SMT5600 and voice tags do not work. I want to try to replace the non-working file with a WM5 file.
Or, maybe someone could tell me how to figure out what file/.dll is used. I’ve searched the registry for anything referring to voice tags but I found nothing.
Thanks

How to Tether/Internet SHare with ATT Tilt 2

I tried to use the Internet Sharing option when connecting to a laptop - just like I did with the original ATT Tilt - but I always get Invalid APN. Does everybody get the same and is there a work-around?
tethering
check to see (upon running Internet Sharing)

my TP2 shows 2 options
MEdia Net
and one for GPRS A&T
the only one that works for me it MEdia Net
please post if you have those options and if it worked.

Thanks for reporting back, removed the cab from my post. So yours is the correct key but it doesn't stick.... hmm. Sounds like flashing a custom rom might be the only way out unless you put a registry tweaking thing in startup.
I just tried this using AT&T Tilt 2 on the stock ROM and it worked.
I could not find any such key called "HKCU\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INTERNETSHARING" so I ignored that part.
I changed HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\ForceCellConnection to "MEdia Net".
I reset the phone.
I tried to share through a USB connection, but it kept appearing on my computer as a hard drive despite selecting the option for Internet Sharing.
So instead I tried sharing through Bluetooth PAN. It was actually easier than it used to be on WM6.1. I selected Connect from the Internet Sharing program and it brought up a list of Bluetooth pairings. I selected my laptop (win7), which I had previously paired for ActiveSync purposes. The phone said "connecting to computer" and then "connecting to internet" and then it was done.
I accessed websites on my computer and refreshed to make sure it wasn't cached. I checked that my computer's wifi was disabled and that the phone's wifi was not on. Looks like it works.
HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings\ForceCellConnection to "MEdia Net"
and
HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Status\Enabled to "1"
I changed HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings\ForceCellConnection to "MEdia Net" and it worked. Thanks for the help.
Question...on the stock ROM, does the built-in connection use the wap.cingular connection or the isp.cingular?
I heard it was wrong to use isp.cingular. Should we create a new profile specifically for wap.cingular?

Doesn't sound like your ready to play with registry (no offense). Always know you can cripple Windows if your not careful. You have to open the "\\Plugins" folder at the top of the root dir of the phone and then select registry. Follow the given instruction from there. Again though, be careful.
Oh im sure im not.... I dont think ive messed with a registry since my Moto v620 years ago. My Tre0 750, just had every cab i ever needed already made.
If its not sticking though... i guess theres really know point till someone figures this thing out. I hate how AT&T blocks certain features....

======== (UPDATED 11-30-2009) ========
NOTE! -- THIS IS ONLY FOR AT&T CUSTOMERS
I have made a cab version of my fix so that mortscript isn't required. Simply install and restart your phone and your ready to go! (much easier instructions eh?)
That's it!
Works great on my end.... other than AT&T's terrible internet service.
I appreciate the time you took to write the scripts. Havnt figured if they stick though, but now that its easily changed back no worries.
Thanks man
