Need help: USB connector broke, where to get another one? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Sadly, my HTC Wizard/Cingular 8125 USB connector broke off. I'm not sure how it happened but I can only guess the pressure of inserting the mini USB cable wore it's soldered mount points and gave way. I tried soldering it back but when I adjusted those little prongs underneath so it would have good contact with the board, a prong broke off. So I'm out of luck and can't recharge the battery. Does anyone know where I can purchase the identical piece so I can solder it back to the board? Also, has anyone else had this same unfortunate fate?

thanks Calouro, I'll give that link a shot.

wow, i had that happen to me too, i send it back to t-mobile for repair. but i afraid of it happening again, bc it hard to fix and my warranty expired.

These people do USB port replacements I believe:
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/

Thanks Paul.. checking them out.

I just had the same thing happen...PPC Techs as mentioned above does that repair for $60 + shipping. They mention this issue specifically as a K-Jam fix on their web site.
I sent mine in but they advised they were unable to get ActiveSync working again after trying a number the repair a number of times. They shipped back to me via ground FedEx even though I requested 2-day so I don't have it back yet to test...

They may have induced heat damage to the USB I/O circuit. This can happen if the soldering iron is too hot or left on the contact too long. In addition, if multiple repairs where attempted with not enough cool down time between heating, the USB I/O may have been damaged.
Also, if they did a sloppy job and shorted two of the contacts together on the USB plug with solder by not completely cleaning out the old solder can cause issues.

Is this possible? (component replacement)

I have a working TMOUS HD2 motherboard which have a "broken/ripped off" lcd connector.
I also have a non working/bricked TMOUS HD2 motherboard complete and without any physical problem.
Is there any possibility to replace this connector?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Is the part here?
http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/parts-for-htc-hd2.html
I highly doubt it. That connector is more than likely surface mounted with little tiny pins soldered to the other side of the board, and would be amazingly difficult to remove and replace correctly by hand.
That's what I thought...
But it seems that I don't have nothing to lose...
I even have a third broken motherboard (also with a ripped lcd connector) where I can test the "removal" an "relocation" of the component. I know it's difficult, but there is too much to win and almost nothing to lose.
Any tech approach would be appreciated.
I tried to remove it with a heat gun.
It was VERY EASY and the removal was perfect!
Next I removed a good lcd connector from another phone (also without a problem) and that's where the problems began.
Soldering with a heat gun, which is not designed for precision work is like killing a bug with a bazooka... you will kill the bug but you will break something else...
End of story... ended with 2 non working motherboards and learned that I need a reworking station for this kind of work.
its easy I done them so many times without fail

Sorry but can you assist some of us with the same problem in few short tips before I destroy my motherboard too
I might be wrong but is it just the clip that is broken? Do the contacts still connect? It might be possible to glue a thin strip of metal to the plastic ends of the motherboard's connector to hold the ribbon cable connector in place. Might work

How hard to fix? Nothing to fix. Fixing such phones is replacing broken parts with new ones. Case is for replace (made of aluminium, expensive probably), camera module probably for replace (it's all in one assembled together), camera led seems to be for replace too. Replacing that all is 30minutes and pretty easy. Look for parts prices on net.
Well I went to a HTC service in my city and they tell Me that they have to change all motherboard if I want to fix it and that will cost me as much as new phone and they have to do it cuz my phone is bougth from from another countrey and the don't have the software for fixing it so I'm stucked.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Whoever told you that is a moron. If the phone is booting the motherboard is fine. What they have to replace is the volume button ribbon cable assembly. It has the board that the camera and speaker/headphone jack is mounted on. that part is about $40 USD. The camera is about 15 USD and the back casing is about $50 USD. And why would they need software to replace a flex cable assembly. Don't do business with them.
Does it all work fine?
replacement LED flash lens covers and Rear battery covers are very cheap to buy
there are many videos on youtube "Desire Hd Disassembly" that tell you how to open it up, its just a few screws to remove the back cover,
main problem with opening the dhd is the warranty void stickers and to get to two of the screws you need to remove the sticker near the battery that has your IMEI/ serial on it, and its hard to stick back on

I tried full data wipe, cache and dalvik, tried flashing newer sbf and no good.
Do you guys have any idea on it?
Thanks
Bad news bro.
I'm pretty sure its a hardware problem, the screen must be damaged...
So i need to replace it?

Better to get a new phone =D
a new phone is your option coz replacing the screen would cost you alot while you can get a better phone in a few bucks more!
New screens are available on amazon for 12 pounds (at least I spend this much)
However It may be a signal cable. They starts from 30$ on ebay
There are disassembly videos on Youtube.
I had a similar problem and I did the replacement two months ago and it works.
I bought the screen digitizer with tools on eBay.
Be sure That you have a torx3 beca use it didn't came on the tools! ;P
I had the same problem... I sent to the Moto Assistance and the had to change the touchscreen for a now one.
Good luck!
Not the cable. If the cable was damaged, it would shut down the entire screen. It's a problem with the digitizer. Hopefully for you it's relatively easy to exchange it, but you'll damage the camera sticker, the top panel of back side, above the battery and the speaker grid sticker (all of those are glued to the phone) in order to open it. Doesn't matter the way you take them over, you'll always damage it. Might wanna buy some of these on ebay too, although I'm not sure they sell it.
I had the exact same problem with my first M2, it was still under warranty but Moto took sweet 15 days to exchange it, and they returned my phone with a stuck volume rocker. Had to send it again, they took more than 15 days this time, so I asked for a replacement.

Nexus 4 USB not recognized

Hello, long story short...
Stuck on google screen, no ROM, just TWRP. ADB Fastboot don't work, phone will charge, but windows 8.1 won't recognize it, it just says USB Descriptor Failed and Not Recognized. Drivers for it don't work either.
Bad Motherboard?
EDIT:
I already tried swapping the USB PCB from another fully working Nexus 4 and it did not work anyway, while the one from this damaged one did work correctly on the other already working N4
Take it you've tried another cable and usb port on comp? Also a good chance that this is charging block on the phone rather than motherboard. Worth a try.

I already tried that, but without the correct Device ID the drivers don't do nothing. Tried forcing them on the Unrecognized USB Device, but it failed to communicate with the phone entirely. I tried swapping another USB PCB from my wife's N4 and same problem... I think I killed this thing... man... Should I try a Laptop with Ubuntu?
EDIT:
I read in another post that it might be the internal USB connector pins (the little orange cable that plugs into the mainboard), I will check this and see if I can straighten them out. Will post back results for everyone wanting to know if this was the problem
I think I found the problem, one of the transistors is kind of blown...

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement resistor/transistor? Doesn't look that difficult to solder.
Looks like something is bad internally, logic board replacement is inevitable. The component is called a Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS), it's meant to protect other components, but even after shorting it still throws a not recognized message. Sorry for everyone reading this thread, you will need a replacement motherboard (logic board).
Getting the same problem, happened because of a short circuit on the car charger. Really not possible to change only the transistor? Can live without the working usb, but the horrible battery life is killing me.

Nexus 7 USB Port (Broken Solder Pad)

Hi,
My Nexus 7 Gen 2 usb stopped charging (it was on/off for a while but now fully stopped).
I ordered a new USB component from eBay so I was desoldering the old one this morning but unfortunatley the 5 pins at the back ripped a few of the pads from the board off.
I was wondering before I order a new USB PCB for £40 is it possible to re trace the 5 pins and wire them to somewhere different on the board??
Looking at this picture this is what I thought I could do:

You could try soldering to those solder pads right before the resistors/caps in the path. If you bypass those, and solder directly to the exposed pads you identified, you may have issues, i.e. those resistors/caps are probably there for a reason . That's what I would try anyways.
did you ever end up soldering to these pads? cause any issues?

nevermind, didnt work of course. Ended up soldering to the pads just before those caps, just needed to not be lazy about it.
