Turning off 3G - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hey,
Is there a way to turn off the 3G network on my cingular 8525? No matter how many times I turn it off it turns itself on again, when I go outside the US Im being charged please help

Do you have a "Band" selection tab under: Settings > Phone.
Usually, you can go in there and select your bands.

You'll need to contact your network provider.
Go into Comm Manager, select the Phone (not the on/off switch), go to the bottom and select Band. Make sure both are set to Auto. Sometimes this is set to GSM and wont work in America.
Then go to Settings, select All Settings -> Personal -> Phone -> Network. Change from Automatic to Manual, then select Find Network. If you can see networks then the problem is with your network provider not allowing you to connect.
Silly question, but have you taken your phone off Airplane Mode in the Comm Manager from the flight?

wcdma preferred. ..??

Had a Droid for awhile and could allways change between cdma and Evdo but with my fascinate it is set to wcdma preferred and will not change...??
check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794551
ya i know how to get to the settings but i can choose cdma/auto prl but it wont stick.
Is there an answer for this?
Stock Fascinate, looking to resolve a high Time Without Signal (50%). I'd like to try changing from WCDMA Preferred to CDMA Auto (PRL). I'm aware of the setting under the debug/test menu (*#4636*1111#, then under Phone information > Set preferred network type), but the setting doesn't stick.
If i leave the settings page w/ the Home button, checking the setting shows that it has changed to "Unknown" and seems to stay that way if I exit in that manner.
If I exit the page using the back button, the setting reverts to WCDMA Preferred.
Is there a way to make the setting stick?

If you have any luck figuring this out let me know! I am having similar issues with a high Time Without Signal.
I was just looking at this today and have the same question. Also will this help me force roam to sprint, my coworkers get 5 bars on a Epic and about 100kb down. im geting like 1 bar and about 10kb, i have tried roam control with not a lot of luck.

no 3g icon or internet on my nexus s

hello everyone, my nexus s 4g is flashed to boost, i been using it for 3 months without problems but in the last 2 weeks the internet was working too slow and i did a hard reset to the phone with the dial code (*#*#786#*#*)
after the hard reset the phone didn't have service because the msid and phone # changed, i went into cdma workshop and restore the msid and phone # and the phone was working again, i can make and receive calls and send and receive texts
but now my problem is that the phone don't show the 3g icon and doesn't connect to internet
i will appreciate if somebody can help me get the 3g working again
thanks
This may sound stupid, but s mobile data enabled in settings -> wireless & network settings -> mobile networks ?
If it is, then have you tried enabling airplane mode and then disabling it? There are times when my NxS drops 3G connection for no apparent reason and this is one way I can get it back.
I saw this posted in the radio guide as way to "retrieve 3G data connection"
Code:
1. Go to Dialer. Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2. Go to Phone information. Choose the preferred network to
"GSM Auto PRL" or "CDMA Auto PRL" or whatever you have.
3. Scroll down, deactivate and activate Phone Radio.
4. Press Menu button.
5. Select Phone frequency, then choose your country.
6. In the previous menu push the Home button to go back to Homescreen.
7. Reboot.

[Q] Unable to switch mobile network

Is it possible that the Franco kernel can cause the phone to search for network infinitely? I mean when I am in menu > wireless & networks > mobile networks. It will just keep searching and won't stop to let me choose which to connect to which is annoying because EE has T-mobile and Orange; the latter is horrid and slow even with full 3G signal. For some reason the phone is stuck just connecting to EE Orange when normally if I go into aeroplane and out it will connect to EE T-mobile as it has the stronger signal. Or is it something that's wrong?

Try punching *#*#4636#*#* into the phone dialer and scroll down to the bottom. Just above the buttons at the botton on the screen should be a drop down menu displaying which network connection you are currently accessing. Press on that to open up the menu from here you can force your network preferences ( this is the area where you can also take advantage of the n4 dormant lte capabilities, but be aware this will increase battery usage) try locating the network you wish to be on and press it, give it a couple seconds is should disable the current one and a moment later as long as it is available should connect to your choice. Not sure if this helps in anyway but it is always fun to mess around with as many setting as you can never knowing which one will solve your problem.

Carrier switching - Note 3 LTE

Hi
since i flashed my n9005 with 4.4.2 i have problem with carrier switching,
i use carrier that allows to connect with network by two ways:
by mother carrier - let say nr 1
or by two other carrier with domestic roaming - networks 2 and 3.
when i use my network 1 - i can connect with LTE speed, while in roaming only speed H is allowed.
And my problem is when i manually connect with network 1 my phone keeps switching to 2 or 3 after loosing signal even for few seconds - in elevator or staircase.
I wanted to lock it on my network by i can't.
Didn't have that problem with Note2 LTE...
is there any way to lock on single network, i don't have option to disable roaming, there is only option for data roaming.
Have you tried just going to settings --. connections --> more networks --> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators --> selecting the #1 network? If you select one here, the phone should turn off Auto switching and it can't change to another network unless you select one manually via this method. Or at least, mine remains on 'no service' untill I select another when crossing the border.

I don't think so. It shoud NOT auto-switch to another network.
Please double check.
