I have been reading posdt on this forum for a few months and u people have opened my eyes and thank u for that
But i am also very confused.....
I would like to upgrade the os on my XDAII (dont know why but i wanna)
But i dont know which version to go for 2003 or 2005 and what are the problems associated with it.
which on would u people go for ( i mainly use it for contacts, Daily Diary, also for Tomtom 3, and the calculator, i also use a bluetooth hands free)
what do u people rekkon (can u tell me where to get the latest version or both os) and educate me in upgrading

Hi...
u have many choices for upgrading ur device...lots of 2003,3 SE,and 5 or 6 WM2005...
U can find them on ftp and u can find WM2005 on http://www.buzzdev.net
I advise u to read everything about Magneto(WM2005) before upgrading,I think TomTom 3 won't work,but I heard that TomTom 5 had no problems...

there is a 2003se and it says orginal, does this mean it has come from O2 or is a copy of a offcial release (i.e. does not have any problems )
let me know ASAP as i am waiting for your expert opinon before i try ton install it

Hi Neel...
there is no official release of 2003SE for Himalaya devices,though,this version and others(3 different versions of SE for Himalaya),are stable and their problems where solved perpetually long time ago...I personally tried all of them and was using them for a long time before I upgraded to Magneto,no specific problem to mention...
For further help in upgrading,read the wiki page from here,it's on the top left of ur screen....

Dudez... U can't just delete the simlock...
It's not possible by Hard-Resetting or Soft-Resetting...
U need to have a lot of experience with cracking/hacking to get the simlock off, but nowadays hackers/crackers became lazy...
I'm trying my best to study, but it takes a lot of time and I don't think I'm going to be able to research this within a few months. I'm not good enough.
But I'm doing my best...

I have JAFWM already... It does NOT support the unlocking of MDA Compact III
New XDA orbit
I have just recieved a new orbit as an upgrade handset from O2 about a week ago
since then I have put in it a vodaphone and a Tmobile sim in it and they both worked although it still had the o2 software on it
but I could make calls send text and recieve text to the phone

then u received a simlock-free pda
I dont know about policy in other countries, but I got here in scocotland (UK), sim unlocked O2Orbit as well, but be aware - Sim Unlocked orbit not always mean SuperCID - u have to pay 2 imeicheck to flash notO2 rom(2 make dev supercid)

dont think (or I dare to say) that unlock procedure doesnt depend on OS version. Maybe on radio and bootloader - unlock Universal U have to use some special radio, SSPL is some part of bootloader if i remember.
need help please on htc device supercid
Hi i do the operation to unlock sim and cid a lot of times with herm_unlock_V3a and i can't restore my imei using jafwm restore (i bought the jafwm dongle), it always says me the same error "could not save data to sd card, your phone must be unlocked, your sd card must be empty". Thanks a lot for your help!

It's been a year now...
It would be realy usefull to be able to unlock my sim and give my phone to my son, any news on an unlocker. If not where/who is the best place to do it?

You can try running one of the HTC roms from the HERALD WIKI
Check the IPL / SPL on your phone before attempting to install any of the 3rd party roms, because if its lower than 4.x you may brick your phone permanently.
ty for ur help but i wasent able 2 do nothing i think my ips/spl are 1.08.0001 i tried 2 get some roms from the link but i cant get any 1x got a 4x but it dosent work got Touch_ITv1.1-Final(not sure if that helped) but i have vista on 64 he need a 32 sistem and so on i think this phone want me 2 learn it

My device was suffering crash(no GSM when rebooting) yesterday when I was updating my device,I know that was my fault coz I did not check the ROM if it's support G4...

wow... hard thing. frist try to pass your SD informationto your PC ... many friends should have minisd reader or cellphones that reads miniSD ... then should be easy... there are a lot of threats about flashing...

is it because while you are trying to update ur radio rom, the process didnt complete and ur ipaq stuck at HP logo startup??
if yes, try to reinstall the radio rom again. BUT first of all, u need to stop all those running programs on ur pc by using taskmanager on ur pc. after u cleanup all those running programs, then reinstall the radio rom again.. let me know whether it success or not.. thx..

I swear to god,I tried to upgrade & flash the Radio.nbf,but it didn't work coz the upgrade tool always was warnning " xxxx is error",and the upgradeing just stuck on the bootloader mode,****! This ****ing stuff really drives me crazy!
have u end all those running programs on ur task manager (PC).. sounds like very simple, but it will affect ur upgrade process significantly..

We have a hw6900 Series, A propeitary device, not like the wizard, hermes, ......
Our devices are CID Locked, etc, As far as upgrade via minisd, don't count on it unless you have a fully working device, you will end up at the cal checksum screen, hell even if you did have a fully working device, it still may not work, I have already posted how to at least backup rom to minisd, as far as flashing through mini sd, do not count on it, I have downloaded damn near every sable program out there and beetles. Nothing, NO GSM, If your GSM is fried then, You have a paperweight, you can still use the os, don't count on it as a daily device. Email me if you have any questions, I can point you to all the tools you need,
Serious man, first thing first, we don't even have a rom to flash via sd in the first place.

I can tell you that roms arent good or bad... in every device we have diferent issues believe me... and everyone can said this is good to me but somebody said its the worst one! why?... cause its their points of view... be sure you have everything to upgrade before do it ok?

Search on the brushed metal by noonski ROM in post number 82 i have attached A RUU just copy your nk.nbf to the file unzipped and run the RUU xp if it doesnt works run the normal RUU. in this link:

Its an old rom but if it is of your likely... first read the way to upgrade in G4 section of wizard forum maybe you miss a step...
Good luck the new ERA of Roms are the included Manila 2D in it... so give it a try is most prettier.

it seems my rom upgrade haven't solved one of my major problems.The GPRS connection is not working.I'm connecting to the network (Vodafone) but if i want to browse the internet internet explorer says :"The page cannot be found.Check the name and try again".
Most of roms
Most of roms has this kind of prob, cause the ccokers said that is better to conect via WIFI or USB stills a problem... but you can try and try again
One more thing maybe your carrier Configuration have missing something... acharacter... a number a dot..... i dont know men!
