Hi
Not quite sure exactly what you are trying to do but the Mobsync for PPC application allows you to sync any files and folders you like either on PPC or on PC

I copied some files from my QTEK S110 onto a friends laptop and they copied accross OK although they did not have a .doc file exension (it was something else) and then when I tried to open them from the new location I could not even after associating that file extension with WORD.
Whats going on?
Also does anyone know how I can se the file extensions of all files and unhide hidden files in file explorer on my pocket pc.
thx
the file extension for pocket word is *.psw to use them on word on pc i think it has to be converted. In pocket word you can click on tools then Save Document As.. do that and under the drop down list of file type you can save it as .doc .rtf .psw .txt and another file type.
about the hidden files if you tap the screen and hold it in the explorer and a menu will come up and theres a selection there for view all files, it unhides some files but not all files. I use Profiexplorer which comes with profimail which is a indepth explorer. it shows all files aswell as file extensions and you can change file extensions and so on
Simply set the active sync option to convert the Pocket Word <-> Word files on transfer. I though this was on by default.
Of course if you don't copy via AS (e.g. via the SD card), it won't convert.

"Of course if you don't copy via AS (e.g. via the SD card), it won't convert."
Sorry I didnt understand the sentence above. What does AS stand for? AND Did you mean that if I have copied my *.psw file onto my main memory (Permanent Save) that "Simply set the active sync option to convert the Pocket Word <-> Word files on transfer" wont work
I havent tried Active Sync yet.
AS = Active Sync
This converts the format for you when copying from one to the other.

If you haven't tried ActiveSync (AS) then you must be transferring the files via the SD card or perhaps BT or IR? This won't convert them - ActiveSync can convert the files on the fly as you transfer them between device and PC.

Thanks
@ mtbsoft
Thanks yes I am using BT though I do not have an SD card they are saved into my RAM - The S110 has 128MB instead of the usual 64. Thanks for your help
Is there any better way to backup contacts list rather then Microsoft Outlook?
I've seen a lot of different softwares around.
I just want some advice of an application that runs ok on 9100 and keeps my contacts safe.
By the way, the worst thing about using windows is that you KNOW that some day it will crash and you will have to format the device. It's dismissable.
I agree with you. I would love something that was able to export contacts to an XML file (and sms to a series of text files) just so I didn't have to pretty much relie on having access to a windows box.
Enjoy!!........... http://www.jeyo.com/companion.asp
As has been mentioned before, in the root directory of My Device there is a file named pim.vol. With Calendar/Contacts/Tasks not running copy this file to another location such as your storage card (don't move it!). Voila! There's your backup. No muss, no fuss.
Good luck!

I was wondering how to back up my contacts too. Thanks for the info!
You're welcome, I was just passing on what I also learned here.
Another thing I do is to use outlook to save an exported copy of my contacts as a .pst file on my PC. I don't sync my pda with my PC but I do periodically allow a sync to take place during which I set up the connection to "replace what is on the PC with what is on the device". After doing so I export the contacts to the pst file, somewhere on my PC and then delete all contacts in Outlook (it's not my primary email app). By deleting them I don't have to worry about hackers getting into them, and I'm then prepared for the next time I want to sync them for the purpose of backing them up.
Then I save copies of both the pim.vol and .pst files to a storage card that I keep locked up.
So i just need to save the pim.vol . And if something happens and i need to format my device i only need to put the replace pim.vol and all my contacts tasks and calendar will be restored, its correct
thanks
i use Shozu ( www.shozu.com ) lets me upload my photos right to Flickr, and as a bonus backs up my contacts. woo hoo
shozu looks good, however the wizard doesn appear in the list of compatible phones? What is the way round this?
How do you use the PIM file as a backup? I recently hard reset and then tried to copy the PIM file from my storage card back into the memory of the 8125 and I kept getting an error message that stated that either the file was in use or memory was not sufficient.
any thoughts?
u can use this contacts backup tool from buzzdev.net

Hi,
I'm using AS to sync the WM-document folder on the desktop and my Qtek. .So if I put a file in this folder it automatically syncs to the Mydoc folder on my Qtek S200.
Is there a way that AS automatically transfer this file to the Mydoc folder on the SD-card in my device?

Thanks a lot Rudegar,
I waded through some Searched Pages, but happily your tip came quick!
I just installed Android Gingerbread (SD-card) and now I want to copy all my contacts from Windows Mobile 6.5 to Android. Is there an easy way to do this )if any)?
Hope you understand my question and thanks for answering!
If you use Outlook you can extract the contacts data base as I think a. Vcf and then load it into your gmail account then sync your phone with gmail

If you have your contacts in out look try this http://sourceforge.net/projects/googlesyncmod/files/

many ways to accomplish this...
first, back up your contacts (and anything else you fancy) using "pimbackup" on windows mobile. if any of the following options goes wrong, simply restore using the back up you just made with pimbackup.
now, ONE of the following options should work:
1. on windows mobile, set up an activesync with google's servers. once the activesync is established, your contacts SHOULD automatically upload to google's servers. this is useful because you are migrating to android, which is tightly integrated with your google account. when you will finish setting up your android with your google account, your contacts will download automatically in a few minutes...and you're done!
2. on windows mobile, use "sprite migrate". this nifty little tool will extract your contacts and sms messages into a file on your sd card. then, transfer the file to your desktop/laptop. on the PC, install the PC component of sprite migrate and feed it the file you just threw from your sd card. tell it to prepare a file for android. this will spit out another file which you can copy back on to your sd card. inside android, install the android component of sprite migrate and import the file you created on your PC. done!
3. use the outlook related options as suggested by others above if you are already integrated with outlook!
Easiest way is to just save your address book to your SIM card then import in Android
Easiest way is enable Google Sync on WinMo 6.5, google for instructions on how to...
It will copy contacts automatically to your google account and sync them back as soon as you link your google account with Android..

I agree, this is the easiest way.
Just synchronize with google account.
w/o Gmail
If you no matter what do not want to rely on Google/Gmail services (for obvious privacy reasons):
Several users mentioned sprite migrate, but unfortunately the software's been discontinued since Oct/2011.
OTOH you can export your contacts:
using the built-in Outlook export. It gets quickly tedious I'm told because you have to process them individually (bleh). This creates a vCard file for each contact.
export using PIMbackup. The procedure is documented about everywhere on the forums, just use search. Important is to UNCHECK compression (and of course, check the "contacts" box earlier on). The resulting pib file is actually a renamed ZIP archive, you can open it with 7-zip regardless of its extension.
I'll assume you know how to transfer files in and out from your SD card.
Now within the pib/zip file, there's a .csc file, which is a comma-separated value "spreadsheet". Extract it from the archive.
You will now export (demux) this .csc into multiple .vcf (vCard) files.
The tool I found is http://homebrew.binaervarianz.de/in...ts-and-SMS-from-WindowsMobile-to-Android.html
Extract "PIM2vcard.pl" from the "PIM2vcard.tar.gz" archive into the same directory as before.
It uses Perl (a general-purpose scripting language) to achieve this. I recommend using Strawberry Perl for its simplicty of installation.
Fire it up using the "portableshell.bat" shortcut.
Then, enter the commands (replace with your own values):
Code:
CD /D "C:\EXTRACT\htc"
notepad contacts_20120418.csc
In notepad, click "File > Save As...". In the dialog, leave the default filename (contacts_20120418.csc.txt) and navigate to your working directory using the treeview on the left. In the Encoding drop-down box, select "UTF-8". Click Save, then quit Notepad.
Back to the Perl command prompt, enter these commands:
Code:
MKDIR vcf
perl PIM2vcard.pl contacts_20120418.csc.txt
When the script ends, you shall find the resulting files in the vcf subdirectory.
Copy them into your SD card / internal storage.
Finally, use the Contacts applet in Android to import the vcf files.
There are known issues:
1. Problems if you have contacts with non Latin chars [use encode_qp?]
2. Problems with multiline fields (such as home address) [fix CSV beforehand]
Note: Maybe some benevolent soul can whip up an excel macro or a website to perform all steps automatically?
Another alternative is importing the csv (*.csm.txt) into Windows Live Mail (mapping fields, which is a boring task) and then export to .vcf.
These features are available from the Import/Export ribbon toolbar buttons.
Also, the import process sometimes silently chokes, so it's not such a reliable solution either.
For migrating your SMS messages, I recommend the dedicated PimBackup SMS Importer to Android application by -emandt-.
An interesting alternative is http://piemaster.net/tools/winmo-android-sms-converter/ (Python 2.x, open-source). It seems to take the .pib in and churn out a fat .xml containing SMS's and importable into SMS Backup & Restore. However, I haven't tested it.
Edit: checked it out, it doesn't seem to process contacts.

What to do if you already have an activesync connection with Outlook? It says you have to disengage that connection first and then sync this new (google) account. Problem is, once you uncheck it, it says it's gonna remove all contacts imported from Outlook!
Have a look at second program "Contact Backup CSV Import" HERE
Also do a search for PIM Backup as has some info in that thread on transferring contacts & sms ...
Hi, newby in Android, coming from WM and I have a trouble.....
When I was using WM in my HTC Trinity, I used a software (MightySync) that allowed me to select individual files from different folders in my PC (Windows 7) and copy them to the smartphone and keeping them sync'ed, allowing also to have them in different folders in the smartphone.
I'm now searching for a software that allows me to do a similar thing with the Android that my new HTC Sensation has and I don't find a way to do it.
I found different software that allow for copy and sync full folders, but not individual files. I wouldn't mind if everything goes in the HTC to the same folder, (better if I could place them in different ones as I did in my old Trinity), but the key thing is to be able to select the files to be copied and sync'ed from different folders in the PC, in order to be able to stay with the file organisation and clasification I have in the PC.
Any idea of help? I already had a look at the characteristics of several of them and tested, between others, "The Missing Sync", "Android Sync Manager WiFi", and some other ones.
Other way to do it could be to do a previous sync inside the Windows itself, doing a sync between the files in the different folders and a particular new "files to sync" folder in the Windows system and later on sync'ing that folder with the HTC, but I couldn't find a program to do it in the windows either, what I found also sync's full folders.
Thanks for your help.
