File (not Folder) Sync residing in different folders in Windows - Android Software Development

Hi, newby in Android, coming from WM and I have a trouble.....
When I was using WM in my HTC Trinity, I used a software (MightySync) that allowed me to select individual files from different folders in my PC (Windows 7) and copy them to the smartphone and keeping them sync'ed, allowing also to have them in different folders in the smartphone.
I'm now searching for a software that allows me to do a similar thing with the Android that my new HTC Sensation has and I don't find a way to do it.
I found different software that allow for copy and sync full folders, but not individual files. I wouldn't mind if everything goes in the HTC to the same folder, (better if I could place them in different ones as I did in my old Trinity), but the key thing is to be able to select the files to be copied and sync'ed from different folders in the PC, in order to be able to stay with the file organisation and clasification I have in the PC.
Any idea of help? I already had a look at the characteristics of several of them and tested, between others, "The Missing Sync", "Android Sync Manager WiFi", and some other ones.
Other way to do it could be to do a previous sync inside the Windows itself, doing a sync between the files in the different folders and a particular new "files to sync" folder in the Windows system and later on sync'ing that folder with the HTC, but I couldn't find a program to do it in the windows either, what I found also sync's full folders.
Thanks for your help.

Installing separate files...

Hi there, I'm having trouble installing programs that seem to come in loads of separate files. One of them is an XML file and the rest seem to be unopenable/unrecognisable by windows.
Can anyone give me advice on how to install these onto my MPV3100. I've search for Install help but there doesn't seem to be anything specific on how to do it.
Thanks.

I can't be sure but it sounds like you have decompressed a .cab file on your PC before trying to place it on your device. If so that's not the way to do it.
There are in general threetypes of programme/files you can download for WM5
1. ,cab files
2. .exe files
3. .zip files
.cab files you place directly on the device by connecting via active sync using the Explore button on the PC active sync screen. If you have a storage card inserted navigate to that and drop them in there. To run a Cab file just click on it on your device.
.exe files in the main you run on your PC whilst connected via active sync. The programme will automatically instal the programme on the device. Keep an eye on the device there maybe some taps you have to make.
.Zip files in general you extract these on the PC and then you'll see if they are .cabs or .exes and then treat them as above.
Most programmes will then show up under the Start>Programmes listing on the device and you run them from there. Some though may not especially if you chose to install them to storage card. In which case use file explorer programme to navigate to them.
Ultimately you'll want a programme that allows you to create short cuts to them probably on the desktop screen.
Hope this helps

how can i access the windows folder of my phone?

Hi I am trying to install sqlce3.5 on a rom which dosen't have cf2.0 (cabs don't work) so I was thinking of manually copying the dll files to the windows folder to see what happens but I cant figure out how to access the windows folder from my pc (windows 7 RC if that matters) any ideas?
Via active sync choose the 'explore' options under 'tools' then a window will pop up. The default directory will be your documents folder what you need to do is go up one directory which will then be your device's root folder. Then from there you'll see the windows folder.
on windows 7 you have to use device manager and when i choose browse device it take to me choose either phone memory or memory card, if i choose phones memory the windows folder is not present and it cannot be seen even if i choose show hidden folders.
any ideas?
After device has sync'ed with pc, just open up your file explorer on your pc. Open 'My Computer' and then scroll down to 'Mobile Device'. If you expand this you should be presented with a list. Open 'My Windows Mobile-Based Device' and scroll down to 'Windows'
Thats the problem I am having I can get to the root just fine but when I am there the windows folder is not present like it is hidden, using view hidden folders dosen't help and typing in the path gets an error message saying it does not exist. I wanted to do this through windows but i suppose I will have to do it through the phones browser instead.

Open your file explorer on your pc, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and make sure 'Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)' is unticked
Other than this I'm not sure why its not showing

how to get favorites to show up on desktop?

on my old spv phone i could sync my phone then goto my computer choose my spv and open it in explorer as you can with hd2 but i cannot see all the phones folders like i could with the spv, i need to get into my htc hd2 favorites folder so i can add a bunch of my favorites on my desktop to my htc hd2 favorites folder. can any one suggest to me how to allow the htc hd2 to show all folders in explorer so i cannot manipulate them as i want to from desktop... also this way i'll be able to goto favorites folder and when i add favorites on my phone i will be able to back them up on pc.
thanks for any tips.
P.S. i am aware of window mobile sync and being able to goto documents my favorites and add delete manipulate files there. but i'd like to be able to access all phone files\windows files in windows explorer like i use to be able to do with spv c550
first, you'll need to be connected to the pc using activesync, connecting in disk drive mode only allows access to the contents of the SD card.
next, go into folder options on your pc and make sure they're set to show both hidden and system files (2 separate settings).
now when you connect in activesync mode, you can use file explorer to access all folders on the phone.

[SOLUTION] Syncing Mediamonkey with HD2 :: SOLVED !!

Hi all,
I know many of u guys out there must have atleast faced a problem of syncing with Mediamonkey and our beloved HD2.
I for one was extremely fed up and asked the MM support staff about this.
I did see the one post where a guy had asked about this...
However here is the solution :
===========================================================
Problem : MM not syncing to desired path in HD2 storage card, with the songs being placed in the root directory.
===========================================================
Solution : (as posted by MM)
Some Zen devices, Sony Walkman NWZ-A828 and several Mobile phones ( Nokia 5800, HTC Desire) exhibit a bug
with MediaMonkey causing synchronization to copy tracks to the device's
root directory, ignoring the destination mask. In the sync may be
incomplete. A generalized fix is not yet available, however, a workaround
that is specific to these devices is to modify the MediaMonkey.ini file by
adding the following:
[WMDM]
COMApartmentThreading=1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The MediaMonkey database stores all information in the MediaMonkey library, including
Track Metadata, Synchronization rules, and Filter configuration. Most configuration data
is stored in an .ini file that saves configuration information on a per-user basis (the
exception being some configuration related to Views which is stored in the registry).
These files are stored in different locations depending on the version of MediaMonkey
and the operating system.
To modify any of these files, first make sure that MediaMonkey has been closed. You can
then use the following tools to edit the files:
o .ini files can be edited with a text editor such as Notepad
o .mdb files can be edited (at your own risk) with Access (MediaMonkey 2.x)
o .db files can be edited with various tools that support SQLite
Here are the default locations of these files:
MediaMonkey 3.0:
o Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MM.DB
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.ini
o Windows 7 / Vista:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey\MM.DB
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.ini
MediaMonkey 2.5:
o Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\My Documents\My Music\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.mdb
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\My Documents\My Music\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.ini
o Windows Vista, MediaMonkey 2.5 is not Fully compatible with Vista
See: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=56
NOTE: If you cannot see these files, it likely means that you need to enable viewing of hidden files/folders.
In Windows explorer, go to Tools > Folder options. Select the View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders".
The folders and files listed should now be accessible.

\BTW : MM is the best syncing music software there is ...
Extremely good for ur HD2
I've never had a problem with my hd2 and MM. I just click disk drive on my hd2 when connecting it. Make a folder called My Music in the sdcard. and right click on my hd2 playlist, click send to and navigate to the My Music folder.
Edit: My bad it wasn't synced. Or at least I never tried to.

Ahh true.. the playlist function works in that regard...
But what i pointed out was that when u setup custom directory listing in MM to sync
For eg
/Music/Artist/Album/Song title
*I do this coz i use S2P*
MM was not following any rules in regard to this area.
Thank you!
I have a HTC Incredible and when I switched to Windows 7 I started having this problem. After editing the .ini file I no longer have any issues...

[Q] Hide files on HD2 WP7

Does anybody know how can I hide word documents and some jpeg files on my HD2 with WP7 running on it ?
Sync the files normally through Zune.
You can then use TouchExplorer to copy the files from the Zune/contents sub directories.
Rename them in the new directory, and delete the original ones.
Shouldn't show up in your Whats new, etc after you remove them from the original PC Zune folders.
Doesn't work....still showing up after I copied an image into the documents folder and deleted the old one. I even changed the file extension from jpg to .jjj.....go figure?
