So people,
Is there allready a solution for the library problem ?
Cause every single time! I exit media player i need to
- Delete MSMETADATA
- Update the library
Then I can play my songs, after exit and reopen and yeah all gone.
Is there a good freeware program i can use instead of this crappy ms player?
btw; i have a 2gb storage card and never have problems with the windows explorer.
Yep..I know all about it..
for as far as I know there is no direct solution, there is a thread, where you can edit your register for disappearing SD-Cards..but thats doesnt fix the problem for WMP..
Dont update your library, and all is fine, you can maually create playlists, or just play mp3's right from explorer, or select open file, and go through the whole dirctory....sounds like ppl are overcomplicating this.

that doesnt make any sens...
i just want to update and have it saved for more than one *** day..
every time I sync with the pc its all gone ;s
yeah... pain isn't it. what I do is backup the MSMETADATA-folder. Then, when my playlist disappears i delete the old one and copy the backup back (you have to delete the old one, you can't just overwrite it!).
It's also a nuisance, but it doesn't take as long as updating the library again.
If you back up your msmetadata folder to the same place every time, maybe you could set up a couple of macros with VJKeyPress - one for "delete msmetadata" then once that's finished one for "replace with backup"... If you have to do it often I'd certainly make a macro for it.

I've recently run into an odd error. Suddenly, the only ring that work is T-Mobile Defualt (sounds like a piano). I previously was using OldPhone.wma for the default ringtone with a few .MP3s for some contacts.
If I try using either Phone or Sound and Notifications in the Settings, it won't allow me to choose any other ring. If I do, it sets its back to Windows Default and further, neither app will close. I have to use the start menu to return to the Today screen.
I just installed the Custom Profile freeware app. This app recognizes all the old rings and plays them within it's own app but doesn't effect the phone when it rings. Basically, I'm stuck with this 1-ringtone.
I did some searching and noticed some apps might interfere with this. The only music-oriented app I've installed in iMusic, but I've since removed it and still no luck. I also tried the Ringtone Reg Hack to move the ringers to the Storage Card, but that's not working either. Is it possible to Phone and Sounds and Notifications apps are corrupt?
There is a good chance that Windows Media Player has lost its file association to .wma
To test if this is the cause of the problem, go to Start>Settings>Phone and change the Ringtone to something else. Before clicking 'ok' try to press play and see if it actually plays. If not, then WMP losing the association is probably the cause of the problem.
Keep us updated on your problem. If this is the problem, and you want help restoring the associations, just reply here

I failed to mention what you just said in my original post. The play button does not play the file; however, the Profile app does (I know you didn't ask that, just thought I'd mention it). How might I restore the associations and did this happen as a result of installing iMusic 2.10?
Thanks!
I did a Google search and figured out how to change the file associations via Resco File Explorer. Thanks!
Since you were so quick to respond, can you take a look at this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44173? I'm have no e-mail at the moment.
Sorry, I can't help with regards to the other post.... I am not sure what the problem is.
I would suggest investing in Sprite Backup v5.1 as that is far more reliable.
I would suggest when you restore a backup after a ROM upgrade that you only restore your personal files and PIM; restoring programs or system files may cause problems like this
By the way, is the ringtone problem solved? I was going to ask you to use the attached CAB file to correct the extensions as Resco Explorer does not do it properly:
Hi Guys,
I have a fairly standard (a few basic tweaks here and tere) Touch HD and when I got it I removed the two demo tracks from it via the Music screen. I created a folder on my SD card called "Music" and loaded up a couple of music albums using direct transfer (ie not ActivSych). I then pointed the Music screen at the SD card, it did a search found the albums and listed them including the album cover artwork.
A few days later I decided to change the albums and deleted the two original albums I had previously loaded in favour of two more (by the same artist). The problem I have is that in the track list I can still see the tracks from the original 2 albums I loaded and where the cover artwork should be there is now a grey box with an exclaimation mark (!) in it. When i flick through the tracks on the "Playing Now" screen it passes over the no longer available tracks and skips to the next available track.
I'm assuming that the current track list is held somewhere in an xml file and that it hasn't update properly.
It could also be that I'm pointing to the SD card, where was the location of the original two demo tracks??
Any help appreciated..........
try taking the memory card out while you are in the tf3d music screen and then plug it back in. that should force it to update it's database. the two demotracks are stored in Device: My Documents : My Music
but once after a hard reset i saw them in Device: My Documents : MUSIC .. but anyway try taking the card out and see what happens
Thanks for a quick reply.
Since I posted I removed all music from the SD and now the "Music" screen just says "Searching". However if I go into the Library the original tracks are still listed and are still missing their album art. Obviously the dont play.
I have just removed the SD as suggested and done a soft reset using the button and.....They're still there exactly as described above....GGrrrrr.
Isn't it funny how the smallest thing can drive you NUTS....!!!!
i know i'd be annoyed if something i deleted stays there and stares right at my face lol i feel you man but i have no idea what to do other than taking the card out and plugging it back in while in the musicscreen. that did work for me once.. wait till someone more experienced than i am shows up cause you're not going to like my backup solution to this problem lol
did anyone find a fix for when you are in the song List and when you try to scroll the songs disappears?

Hard reset.....NNNooooo !!!!!
I'm tempted......but only when frustrated by the whole thing.
Somewhere out there a Touch HD Guru is waiting to enlighten me (hopefully)/
I had similar issue with my device - Only "Searching" was displayed on the "Music" screen.
I got over it by deleting the following file: My Device\Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng. Then it recreated whole database from scratch.
MKo_1 you are a SUPERSTAR...!!!!!!
Deleted the file as suggested and all those nasty old files with there nasty old grey boxes have gone.
Days of frustration and pulling my hair out have all now been washed away in a haze of heady excitement.
All I can say is thank goodness for XDA Developers and especially MKo_1.

Thanks MKo_1 !
You solved my problem too !
You can fix the Artist lists etc not showing by flashing to a new custom rom - all of the new manila roms I have tried have solved this problem. I guess it just depends as to whether or not you want to flash your rom
I get the "searching...." problem in music player too. I tried to delete the file referenced but it won't let me. Just to confirm is it the directory named audioManager_Eng or the file of the same name with a .vol suffix? I tried both..... It managed to delete playlist for the directory but not the directory.
hello everybody,
i am searching here for a while and couldn´t find any helpful webpage or forum thread here that shows me, where are the standard folders located ( registry settings ) in WM6.5 or in special for the HTC HD2.
i would like to re-arrange any folder for media files ( ringtones, mp3-music, videos, documents, ebook and so on....)
to an easier structure in \\storage card and saving memory/space in mydevice
for that reason i´d like to know where are folders for what reason of standard-copy paths in \\mydevice and \\storagecard to erase un-needed things and avoid duplicating
the goal is to have easier folders to locate files
like
\\strorage card\Pictures
\\strorage card\Videos
\\strorage card\Music
\\strorage card\Ringtones
\\strorage card\Documents
and make sure that standard applications use that new paths for managing
i think i am not the only person who is interested in that, otherwise sorry for disturbing
thank you
PS
Everything you mentioned happened to be under \\My Documents. They are part of file sync to Windows.
It is a bad idea to place ring tones on SD card. It probably won't work.
thanks for that info.
that was indeed my intention also to change ringtones to storagecard. i am aware that didnt´ work , but with changing reg-keys maybe..any idea where they are ?
Yeah, don't put anything on the storage card that your device might need at any given time. Even if you never remove your card, it won't always be available when needed. For instance, when your device wakes up from an incoming phone call, it can't access the storage card right away since it may take a moment to activate the reader. Therefore it might not be able to use a ringtone stored there.
For the same reason, I wouldn't redirect the "standard" locations to the storage card through a registry change if I were you. You never know how the device will react if it wakes up and doesn't find its "My Documents" folder right away.
Other than that, it doesn't really matter where you put your media files: most of the built-in applications look for them everywhere. So if you want to save internal storage space, you can move most media stuff to your storage card without redirecting the default folders.
For music, I'd say go for "\\strorage card\Music", since that's where music files are automatically stored when you sync with Windows Media Player on the desktop.
For pictures, you might want to use "\\strorage card\DCIM\100MEDIA", since that's where the camera puts new photo's; but "\\strorage card\Pictures" will work just as well. HTC Album will pick up pics anywhere you put them. You can even choose which folder to display in the Sense tab. From the Sense tab, just go to > "Album" > "Albums", pick the one you want, then > "Menu" > "Set as favorite".
As you can see, these will work without redirecting the default folders to your storage card. If, however, you want to try anyway and don't mind the risk of experimenting, the content of this registry key looks promising:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Explorer\Shell Folders
Good luck!
If you want to change the location where the camera stores new pics, you might want to look at this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/Pictures/Camera/OEM/PictureLocation
But again: I haven't tried this, so use at your own risk!

thanks for that imput, thats what i need for get the knot out of my brain :=)
thanks so much...i will try that hints.
Well, i think alot of ppl know this problem. The music player in sense sometimes has a lag, every 20-30 seconds, a short pause, then music resumes... alot of solutions are suggested, like soft reset, format SD card, organizing your music into smaller folders, putting all your music in ONE folder (?), applying the official HTC hotfix, and more...
None of these solutions help me. This problem started a couple days ago after a hard reset. It only (as far as i can tell) occurs when the screen is locked..
If anyone has a solid fix for this, please, share it.
I have looked up and down these forums, with alotta different results, and most of the threads are a couple months old... and no real solutions.
So, if you know what the deal is, elighten me... this is driving me crazy.
Thanks

I tried this fix... it doesnt help..
What i did just try, is to disable in CHT, the option to turn phone off when sleeping, and reverted to the standard lockscreen... thats seems to have helped for the moment, although, before the hard reset, these options where enabled. not thouroughly tested though, because i am at work and i only have time in my breaks!
i'll try these two separatley now, and see what happens...
I would like to just use the sense player, its simple and looks nice (with GTX theme for Sense), plus i dont want to have to go to a third party app evertime i wanna listen to music!
Im on that wagon too - only to use Sense Player.
I have been through quite a few tests to get rid of the frequently stop and go in the player.
Before the hotfix from htc.com I mentioned - I came to the conclusion that to prevent the stop issue you have to to let the device go to sleep from the menu where you can 'Turn off Device' (opos up after holding power button) - Dont click turn of as it wil result in glitches ... but let the device go to sleep by it self.
After the fix ... I can just press power off instantly without having the glitches.
Kindly
I've got the fix and it didn't fix the issue for me.
Here is how to fix it.

1. Transfer all your music from your phone to the PC(make folder "Music" and put it there.
2. Delete the folder containg your music files on your phone.
3. Start your Windows Media Player on your PC and sync your HD2.
4. Drag the "Music" folder to the sync folder of the WMPlayer on your PC(you can add as much files as you want in this folder before to sync it or after for the next sync)
5. Leave it to finish. Once it's done, disconnect your phone and it will fly like a rocket with both sense and wmobile player!
YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE ANY REG TRIKS FOR THIS! I BET IT WILL WORK FOR EVERY ONE OF YOU!
Good luck and share your opinion.
My HD2 Doesn't Know from PC...
My Leo has never met a PC (meaning I have no computer and have never active synched), would this patch be effective via the device and storage card alone? I've read through the forums and tried a number of tips but I think we all continue to suffer from less then stellar performance by Sense Player. -No?

Well... for me installing the hotfix only didn't change the things at all. But syncing as showed above helped 100%.

im having the same problem but my music is in my Micro SD Card!!! will this still work???
Ok, obviously an easy task. Done it before have a couple dozen songs on my storage card now, and they all transfered easily a couple months ago.
Now, I want to finish my collection and transfer a couple hundred songs over, so i figured, same thing i did to transfer the first hundred or so.
I open my music folder, i open my storage card/music folder. highlight, drag and drop. I get a message pop up saying "this file may not be able to play on this device do you want to copy anyways?" I say yes, another popup saying
"Cannot copy <title> The device has stopped responding or has been disconnected"
So i figured i'm screwed and can't copy them over and i head here for an answer, here's the twist.....
I check the "do this for all files" when "cannot copy" box comes up and i tell it to skip copying all files. I let it go and lo an behold, even tho i told it to SKIP copying all files. They appear and are working properly on my device, artwork and all.
TL;DR-
Get error saying can't copy music, device is not responding or disconnected. Tell it to skip copying all music. Copies all of it anyways completely successfully.
::EDIT:: Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone has had this before, or would know why this is happening? Even tho i still get the result i want.. it's kind of irritating.
I've had the "This file may not be able to play on this device do you want to copy anyways?" dialog which is normal if your USB>PC is set to ActiveSync. You might want to try setting it to DiskDrive and see if that behavior goes away.

+1...for transferring media files, it's almost always best to do it in disk drive mode, and much faster that way.
