Hello all, hope you can help.
I've just tried to install the this ROM 'PDAMobiz_Dopod_P800W_AKU301_v1.1.2_PowerMap__6.2.07_.part2.rar' on my xda orbit but the install came back with errors and all i have now is an O2 spalsh screen. I can however get to the bootloader screen so i assume all i need is the original shipped uk o2 rom?
I've had a good look around but nobody seems to have this. Someone must have surely.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Thanks for the advice but i've tried that already. Any other ideas?
I suppose tha you have Xda Orbit from Germany . If yes go to ftp on xda dev and download german rom . Put your xda into bootloader mode and upgrade it with this rom . This will help . I've had this same issue and from today my xda is alive again
Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296442
I actually need the UK (english) rom. Do you think the German one will work on O2 UK? I'm gonna download it anyways, cant hurt to try.
Thanks
No this will not work, and if I'm not wrong there is no official O2 UK rom . If your XDA is CID unlocked then you can try to install t mobile uk version , if not ....well you have a brick
no, the german rom dosn't work on the english unit. bacause the updateprogramm is looking for the correct country-id so it won't work.
^^sry for my bad english, because i'm german and don't use it very often.
bye flow
Gutted!
You're right guys, it doesn't work! I guess I should have thought about how serious this 'playing about with your xda' was I reckom i'm just gonna go to the shop tomorrow and just say it died and hope they give me a new one
Suppose i could wait for the new ROM release for the UK version, who knows when that's going to be though.
Thanks for your help anyway.

I just upgraded to your special edition 1.1 rom !!... it is flippin amazing. I have only had my xda for a few days, so i cant comment on what crap was there before, i can say the programs you have provided are excellent!. Like dos shell and file commander !!
i even managed to put my orange sim in there, and it works perfectly !!!
so much for paying £34.99 to get it unlocked !.
The only prob(little) .. is that when i start the device, it says to me "you need to config the sim card"... but i cant select UK orange ?
is this normal ?, can i download the config or something?
thankyou, and keep up the great work
we don't have a uk-orange connection profile yet. but have started this project to get more gprs profiles.
do you still have your old rom? can you upload it?
Hello Mate,
Thanks for your reply, and well done with the special rom release !
The rom that it came with was the 3.17.03.. i think :-\ ... sorry i did not take back up of it.
How do you do that?. is it a special program?
also ... if i wanted to put my xda back in the same state as when i bought it ... can i do that ?
ie, get the tom from o2 or sommat, and then apply that ?
sorry if these are really n00b question... hey we were all noob once !
where would i find the rom , if i wanted to put the xda back to default?
thanks again

Has anyone found how to update the ROM on XDA II/MDA II? I have MDA II and need to switch to English. Any help is appreciated...
PalMop
Maybe you should have asked to the place where you bought it from in the first place!
You should learn German or move to Germany if that's so important!
Hey you got the same thing too... So stop messing around and let's see if anyone has a copy of the English ROM
Auf Wiedersehen...
I am sooo glad I am not the only one with this problem, I was so excited seeing th ephone I did not even bother checking the language aspect. Now I am stuck with my phone speaking German, and i don't think anyone in my city even speaks the damn language.
Soneone please help.
So far I can't find anything, else than putting the MDA into serial mode, too bad I don't have a serial cable. There should be another way to extract/update the rom. Anybody?
Maybe I will have the same problem as you 2. It could be that I have next week a german MDA II. Wasn't there here on the website a schematic to make the serial cable ?
Regards,
fluppie
There is also the xdatools but I don't know if that'll work with XDA II
Ok Guys I just solved it. Just click on the link below
http://www.myxda.com/XdaII/serviceandsupport/template/XdaIISoftwareUpgrade.vm
Download the new english system software upgrade for xda II.
Follow the instructions for the installation and then install, and Voila in about 30 mins you will have an english XDA II. this upgrade will upgrade all the included stuff too like word etc...
Just be cautious though you will lose eveything on your phone thro' this upgrade so please backup your stuff into outlook, the xbackup will not work when you are restoring.
Also do not switch off or disconnect the phone till everything is done.
You can install any ROM you like on the MDA2... Since you're in Canada, try the I-mate 1.72. It's working fine with Fido.

hi,
i have just downloaded the radio stack from O2 v4.21. I have tried to upgrade through active sync 3.71 it upgraded ok, but when i went to restart the XDA it gets stuck on the boot screen. the one that says test not for resale... and at the bottom right hand corner its says A.30.07 and then locks up.
normally before i tried to upgrade it said A.30.07 the underneath it said 4.20...
anybody know what i need to do to correct it?? i have looked through loads of forum posts and now i'am really confused???
Thanks alot
Zetex :?:
a bit of further info my Bootloader on my xda1 is 5.22
I'am also willing to pay for help i recieve to get my xda up and running again, because without it i really i'am stuck. I don't just use it as i gadget i use for everyday work/pleasure...
Thanks alot
Zetex
can anybody help me????
Hi,
No experts or semi-experts seem to be offering any help. I consider myself a fairly experienced novice so I am not sure how useful (or safe) my advice is. Take care! But here are my observations..........
You say the upgrade went OK? Does this mean you got as far as the message Flash Complete! Press OK to restart your device?
If so, this is encouraging as most of the problems I've located on this forum stopped part way through the upgrade (many at 1%).
Did you follow the instructions accompanying the upgrade to the letter? (ie. kill all running programs, switch off phone etc.)
The 4.21 upgrade is for the PW10A1 model not the PW10B1 (check the back of your xda's case to find out). Not sure how you deal with this one if yours is a PW10B1.
Can you enter bootloader mode? (soft reset with the stylus while holding the power button). If so, this is also good news. Someone with more experience than me could probably tell you what to do next. (Possibly flash a new ROM using the SD card method. Although you upgraded the Radio Stack it may have corrupted or upset your Radio Unit/'ROM'. If you decide to do this, I suggest something based on the v3.17 such as the XDA developers special edition ROM ..... you can always upgrade to WM2003 again later.).
Good Luck!

cranny,
Thanks alot for the reply m8, I did try what you have suggested by reloading the 3.17 o2 rom via sd card and now it won't even switch on anymore.
not to worry its gone off to the xda repaire center in Norwich today for repair under warranty.
Thanks for the reply anyway m8

I am going to get the vodafone V1640. Could nayone tell me, is it possible to unlock the phone by flashing O2 XDA EXEC on it?
Try searching for an answer first.

actually the response is NO for the unlocking via ROM upgrade
x Bluediss ... and we should try to help and educate.
So far as of today the answer is still NO regarding changing the LOCK status by doing a ROM flash to another ROM as the "LOCK" isn't stored in the areas that are changed by a ROM update.
And so far people who are working on a un-lock tool haven't been successful so far.
I guess in a few weeks, there might be one already. A little patience.
Adios.
Sorry, I'm just al little touchy (mine's T-Mobile SIMlocked and I've got Orange )...
There are just too much posts about unlocking the universal.
I know the feeling, and yes, that's what the SEARCH button is for
Hi
I have an o2 xda mini s and i want to upgrade my rom to the latest one, however its not available on the xda site of o2. Can i install any rom or do i have to wait for them to brand it?
How do i upgrade and will it damage my device?
thanks

mini s rom updating
don't do it!!!!
wait for them to 'brand it'
I have the same machine and tried using the new K-Jam ROM from I-Mate and I've gone through some horrifying moments to get it back to normal!!!
i am also waiting for the O2 update, i desperately need push email and was about to take the plunge with the i-mate rom. what sort of problems did you have and how is it working now?
when I tried loading the Imate ROM it all went file until I got an error related to my trying to use IMate software on an O2 machine
It remained in three color mode (as it is when upgrading the ROM) until I turned it off and then it was dead!!! It would not do anything! No lights, no activesync, leds, nothing!
Fortunately I took out the battery and put in back in and was back to normal working order. I'm assuming that I was fortunate and the changes didn't yet save. I really don't know, but it scared the crap out of me!
Still I came across someone in a forum that has done it. I've emailed him to ask how. Supposedly it works but you end up having to remap buttons and such.
Regardless I've decided to hold off for two reasons...
1. I've still got warranty that is void if you change the ROM
2. a tech from O2 emailed me to say they are coming out with an upgrade... while no details about when
