free call filtering? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

do anyone know where I can find a free call filtering for my 8525. I really need it and all I can find are demos or to pay for one. I paid almost $500 for it and I should be able to get one for free.

Not sure i understand what youare asking for?
Are you lookign for a service that will screen your calls and then forward them to your phone? or are you looking for soemthing that runs on your phone and alows you to screen them (cause i thought that was what caller id was for)
If the former...try grandcentral.com...you will get a new number tho, anyone that calls it has to leave a name...blah..blah blah...

I'm really talking about software for my 8525...

Just a suggestion, I did some Googling and found this link http://software.brighthand.com/product.asp?id=828
It looks like it will do what you want, I have not looked for any "free version" but I am sure it is out there somewhere. If I find any I will post it.

Mod edit we do not make WAREZ suggestions on XDA-Developers

Search on here (xda-developers) for Call Firewall

here is a good one...
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/?en
and u can find a serial for it everywhere.. so basically its free
and call firewall is also a good one and its free..

best software for this is MagicCal. It does some more kool stuff...

Do you have a link by chance?
I tried google but wasnt able to find it.

Its actually Magicall, [SIZE=-1]www.mobiion.com/magicall.html, and I agree it is the best that I've tried.

Thanks, now I find it.
Until now my favorite program for call filtering is photocontacts pro:

But its using at least 1 MB memory, so I will try MagiCall

IIWPO: Theft protection in ROM for Himalaya

(Re-published due to forum structure change)
Based of the IIWPO solution initially meant for Wallaby devices (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=2526), I created a customizable installer for Himalaya:
See the Wiki page on IIWPO
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/IIWPO
Hopefully IIWPO suprises a lot of thiefs!!!!!
This is way too cool! I really love this software. I hope never to have to rely on it but just to know its there will make me sleep better. Thanks.
Wow!
The link doesn't work, but... there is or could you do something like that for the PDA2K?
Thanks!
Chris

Edsub,
I am wondering if the already excellent IIWPO could be further enhanced by a simple but witty add-on. I am imagining the capability to receive a Kill-Signal via SMS. If all attemps to recover the phone fails because the person who holds it has not put in a full & proper owner name + address we still have a phone number right? Therefore we can send an SMS to the phone at will. If IIWPO listens for a specific sms subject line then we could instruct it to disable the phone in some fashion that can be reversed and display a message to this end "tell" the thief to return the phone no questions asked etc. If still no luck then we could send a signal forever killing the phone. Am I watching too many spy movies? ;-)
Hope you like the idea. Sounds fun to me. Regards
I like the idea  , but since am not a CE developer (and I did not develop IIWPO either, just put the parts that were there together for use on a Himalaya) I have no idea whether or not this is possible.
Maybe any of the real xda-developers see a possibility here :?:

This is possible, and was used on an HP Jornado 928 ...
On this handset, a simple SMS containing a specific codeword or PIN would 'lock' the handset so that it could not be used. Quite useful and as far as I know unique to the HP Jornado 928.
Anyone know any different ?
Cheers
Mark
wow!! this would be great for the PPC! ive tried something like this in my symbian NOKIA 6600! and its very useful!! if you change the sim the phone will automatically send a message to your predefined numbers containing some info on the current location of your phone... and if you send a code to it thru SMS it will lock up and it cant be used unless you flash it or something.. i bet the PPC version is even greater!! cant wait for a full version!

I would like the facility to electrocute the new "owner" through the ear when he makes a call, 50,000 volts would be fine. Or maybe a spring bolt that would activate and shatter his jaw.
Perhaps the local police station...

My wife lost her handphone to some dishonest fella who picks it up and perhaps remove the SIM/off the HP.
Perhaps we can have it SMS your selected police station on startup and replay an SMS with your customised message:
"Yeah baby! I've stolen this handphone and there is NOTHING that you bloody incompetent slobs can do about it! <vulgarities applied here>!"
<repeat 100 times>
In my country, we can have different numbers for neighbourhood police post. The SMS will be repeated as a robotic voice message to the LAND phone as well.
I can at least ensure that the message does not go into a generic 911 number.

the apps name is theft alert! very useful app indeed for the Nokia Symbian that is...
oooops sorry.... double post...
@henrylim
well that is entirely possible!!! and that is a damn good idea you have there!
hey will this work on a WM5 device (PDA2K upgraded)? If so will it be the same steps?

possible write a program to respond to incoming calls?

is it possible to write an app which can recognise incoming calls, take the caller ID and immediately hang up if it's unwanted/unrecognised?
if it makes a difference, i've got a orange M1500 (unlocked thanks to the marvelous info and app on this forum), and or MDA3/PDA2K.
hmmm maybe if i'd looked a bit further than the first page i would have found my answer.
yes there does indeed seem to be several call profilers out there.
i think you're refering to something like "callblocker"...check out this link...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=19632&highlight=callblocker
there's also another app similar to this but i forgot the name...i'll reply again if i remember it...
guys, anyone know the other app other than callblocker? name is something like "smart..." duh...
ah! the other app is called "smartfilter". if i remember it's a trial app...meaning you have to pay for the whole gig once you decide you'd like to have the app for good. it expires after a certain number of days...i think

How to change one's status on Fring??

I use Fring for windows mobile on my Trinity.
It's quite convenient to have so many different messengers in one unique soft.
But I can't find a way to change my status from online to let's say, away, invisible, busy etc.
Anyone can tell me how to do?
Up!!
Nobody knows the answer?

Always on-line unless you exit Fring.
Thanks for the reply mate. I also came up to this conclusion.
By the way, I don't understand why this topic was moved to P3600 thread, since it is in relation with all windows mobile devices...

Passowrding SMS or Hiding

Hi,
This site has been recommended to me as THE place to come to if u have PPC problems. My issue is that I wan to hide my SMS from others and even filter them so certain contacts get hidden automatically.
Is there any Freeware app available or code you guys can make to deal with this problem. Please go easy on my with the Acronyms... I just about got TP2 but stuck on Manilla...
So can you guys do anything for me?

Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will receive good adice. Just for future reference try the search function where you will find what you are looing for as well as other useful information.
As far as the software you are looking for I too wanted this software but could not find a decent freeware program. I found a program called Secret SMS from Handago which kept other eyes away from my personal messages.

If the b*tch could stop snooping around with HIS business he wouldnt have to hide it. j/k
That is honestly the funniest thing I've read today (above).
I, too, want this software - and am not afraid to admit that I want it because an ex-gf or two text me every now and then and I'm sincerely afraid that my pure-blooded german wife would snip my nads off with a rusty butter knife if she saw them. Luckily my phone auto-locks every 15 minutes per a government pushed security policy - but if I left it unlocked after doing something - that'd leave her 14 and change to find something, read it, and locate a suitably dull knife.
You can try this: http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/SMS/Ez-Secret-SMS-59592.shtml
It costs money, but there is a trial you can test.

Speech Text Messaging?

Ok, so my city recently passed a huge ban on cell phone use while driving. I know I can have my phone reac any new message to me wehn it is received and I currently have it set up to do so. However, I have heard of other phone coming with a speech to text feature. Is there a wway to get something like this on the TPS where I can speak the reply to a text and be able to send it that way?
I don't know of any specific apps that do this, but I'm sure they're out there considering Bling and Google Maps have this technology.
I dont recomend trying to text while driving & dont like applications where you use voice commands but you should try this one
Code:
http://vitotechnology.com/voice2go.html
(not free but you could try the tial) it lets you control your whole phone by voice and you could add custom commands but im not sure if you could set it up to reply to sms.
ps: by the way nice to see another member from el paso

Thanks for this...I will give it a shot. Not only is it nice to see another member from ELP but also nice to see another person with a TP2!!! I have only seen a couple here in town!
This would be a very cool feature! I am interested in this also. Can anybody help out with this?
microsoft tell me
i had it on my phone ported from i think a samsung device.
it didnt fit too well with the screen resolution and whatnot, but it worked.
although it doesn't work if you have an accent or if you want to send messages to someone who has a rather unusual name
i went to a At&T store for help with something with a friend, he had and still has a verizon blackberry curve but anyways one of the associates there had a blackberry and showed him a whole buch of apps he got from a certian website (dont remember what it was) and one of them was a talk to text app and it work almost perfectly. ive been searcing for an app like that for windows mobile ever since then and that was almost 2 yrs ago!!!! i also just found out a few days ago from my girlfriend that theres a app like that for her iphone. i seriously dont know what microsoft is doin but they need to step their game up and to all the developers out there, you need to beat them to the punch!!!
Read email to you - what app?
What app are you using to have your HTC read email to you?

Didn't pick up on the SMS part. Looking for an app to read/speak email messages(non-SMS). Especially, would be nice to be able to filter by sender, subject, etc.
Ok, so I found a few cabs for TellMe, but they all crash shortly after launching. Any ideas?

I use TellMeText Version 1.1.0 on my Rhodium Touch Pro 2. It installs and works okay. If the installation crashes, the best thing is to redownload it until it works fine. Also try the app on different ROMS.
I have used it on ARK_N's ROMS as well as on Leo Cell ROMS.
Make sure (I think) you install BlondieSoft_MobileCertificates cab prior to the intallation of the TellMeText cab.
Hopefully this should help.
Why not sooner.
If someone can rip the install from the Samsung Intrepid I think we can get something going.
The only other option is Vlingo and it is buggy at best, you can search the forums and people have had spotty success with it.
This could be a real difference breaker at this point in time in the Mobile Phone wars, I don't know why someone hasn't jumped on it and capitalized, tons of apps already use voice recognition (bing, google) for driving directions, I don't know why in a world where people are dieing left and right from txting while driving someone hasn't jumped on this.

The tell me ap works for some and not for others.. I believe it has something to do with the carrier you are with. That said.. you guys are probably better of going over to the tell me thread and reading through that to figure out how to get it working on your phone. I personally gave up. It would install fine on multiple roms I was running and as soon as I would to go speak a text to it it would just hang then give me some error.
Regardless... no sense in having multiple threads about the same thing!
Do a search in the Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps forum and you'll find it.

TellMe does not work for AT&T customers on their network on anything but BlackBerry. I ran a packet trace and the packets leave the phone but there is NO response.
WiFi works fine but how often are you on WiFi on the go?
You need to install microsoft voice command FIRST then this. Just search, the cabs are posted.
