Hi friends, i wanted to ask only if "Skype" can be installed on Omap 200mhz processored QTEK S200 or not?
If it can be, i will buy that device but i used Hp rw6815 of my friend's a month ago, Skype was installed when it was bought from the shop, is it installed on Qtek S200 too when i buy it, if not can we download it from the web and install on Omap 200Mhz processored Qtek?
Thanks for u'r attention on topics...
Skype works ... in any threads you can found Regkeys for Skype, then it works with less CPU and you can use it over GPRS connections, with good Quality
Thank you for u'r attention...
And one last question, is there any "Rom or Cpu mhz limit" for SkyPe to be installed? For example, 128mb rom or 400mhz cpu!?..
Why don't you just use the Beta 2.2 which is also available for low power devices?:

Looking at the MDA Compact II, the only main difference from our Magician is the processor. All other hardware is presumably the same as the Magician's (memory size is not significant).
So ..... if 3rd party software can run on any of the CPUs, why cant' WM5? Or is it that 3rd party software for the TI OMAP processor is compiled specifically for that CPU?
Just wondering :?
WM5 probably could run on Magician and potentially any device.
I'm not educated enough to answer correctly, but AFAIK anyone can build WM5 for the Magician using platform builder, but getting it work is the problem. We don't have compatible drivers etc specifically written for the device (as you can see with some of the WM5 builds for blue angel). So without proper drivers for all the hardware, it won't be "compatible" with all of the hardware.
Mamaich is the man for this question though. His Wizard ROM should open up doors I imagine.

I'm well aware of the drivers issue but with an MDA Compact II ROM the drivers should work just fine as it is essentially the same hardware. No?
More specifically, my question should be: is it JUST the different processor that won't allow us to use a WM5 Compact II ROM on our Magician? And if it is so, how come? (if 3rd party sofware can run on both processors with the same build?)
Actually, went down to a computer store on Friday and tested the HP IPAQ 1950. It only had 64MB ROM and 32MB RAM and 300MHz but it was very fast to operate which is surprising. Faster than an O2 mini display model.
Note that all display models only have factory settings with software that comes preinstalled. Comparing an O2 mini 64MB RAM/64 MB ROM 416MHz WM2003SE with an HP rx1950 32MB RAM/64MB ROM 300MHz WM 5.0, the rx1950 felt faster plus the HP screen was 3.5" as well.
I guess i they wanted to release an upgrade to WM 5.0 for the O2 mini/iMate JAM they could but why bother because they'll make more money selling the next model with WM 5.0
I think the O2mini noob is absolutely right. They just want to sell new Devices. Why else don't they give an Update to WM5 for XDA II / III although there are unofficial leaks?
Why they don't want to release WM5 for the Magician is pretty obvious now, look at HTC Charmer and HTC Prophet ... but the question is why can't we have a COOKED ROM from the HTC Charmer? What is the technical reason why an HTC Charmer/MDA Compact II ROM does not work on the Magician?
Well for a start the nbf for the t-mob charmer will need to a bit of chopping first to fit on a magician, since its 72mb. plenty of room on the charmers 128mb rom but not for the magician.
Hi all,
I installed xpcuscalar v2.93 on my k-jam but it just won't start. I would like to know if there's anyone has got it running on a wizard.
thanks
A
Not likely
the Wizards' CPU is a TI OMAP and not an xScale processor...
Arnon
But it's supposed to work on the magician isn't it?
Hmmmm
IIRC Magician IS xscale so it should run fine on there, Wizard (k-jam O2 XDA mini-s or pro, etc) is a different processor technology so its all different
Ah, I see. Thanks.
Is there any way to overclock the cpu of the k-jam?
Thanks
As yet. no
But i have seen on here that it is a work in progress so keep an eye on the forums for a couple of months and maybe there will be soon
Thanks
Just baught Jamin. Pretty happy. But the question is whom should I trust?
Imate show 200Mhz on their web site, Machine and guys in Inkino says it's 195Mhz.
One more question:
Is there a way of using bluetooth stereo headset with Jamin without external adapter???
The JAMin has a 195Mhz process, NOT 200 Mhz. You will be able to use a BT stereo headset once the AKU 2.0 ROM is available within the next 4 weeks.
Thanks!!!
actually it's even less than 195MHz
What makes you say that?
Hi Everyone!
I'm new to mobile windows, I've recently bought a T-Mobile MDA Vario and discoveredthet I can't run SkyPe because of the processor speed...
So I've come across with OMAPCLOCK V2.0
I'vce installed it, and changed the speed to 216 Mhz
but when I check under hardware in device information the value doesn't go over 195 Mhz..?????
Is OMAPCLOCK not working? or the speed is not shown correctly in the hardware monitor?
Thanks for your help
Fab
Works for me just fine.
Don't worry, if you ran OC properly, then you are running at that speed. I am running at 240mhz and my hardware panel shows 195mhz. Using SKTools system information reports 260mhz!
OK, very good thanks!
I thought so....
cheers
Fab
I'm thinking of buying the Prophet but have been told the device is a bit slow. How is the speed of the Prophet in comparison to the Wizard? as i think Wizard runs at a good speed.
Never used a Wizard so I can't do that comparison.
But I can tell you the Prophet is SLOW. IMO, overclocking is absolutely necessary.
I have not used the Wizard either, but had the Jam until I got the M600 and I have to disagree with the previous poster. I use the Jamin for Tomtom and PIM alot, but have only used WMP a bit, however it played movies I encoded for the Jam just fine.
I have found the M600 to be very responsive and not had any speed issues. However if you want to use if for Skype (I don't) then you would come across problems without overclocking. For myself and what I use the M600 for, it is just great.
BONJOUR
J UTILISE LE PROPHET APRES DE MULTIPLE PDA DELL X30 IPAQ 2210 ET TUNGSTEN T3 ET BIEN MEME S IL EST MOINS RAPIDE IL PERMET D EMPLOYE LA PLUPARS DES SOFT SANS OVERCLOCKING
POUR MA PAR J AI UTILISE OMAPCLOCK JUSTE POUR TOMTOM

I do not mean to be rude, buddy, but where did you get the hint from that this is a french speaking forum ?
We all try our best to write in english, despite our nationality. And our knowledge of the english language !
Oh! One last thing: writing CAPITAL LETTERS means screaming...
Happy posting.
I run my prophet at 240MHz and it's much more responsive now than before it was overclocked.
For what you need - and how, search the forum for omapclock and MemMaid.

Just to be clear, you mean JAMin or JAM. They are different phone. JAMin is a Prophet and JAM is a Magician.
Anyway, I'm using a Charmer now, which is very similar to a Prophet, microprocessor and OS wise. I have no problem running Tomtom, and many other applications. I even tried to encode and played an entire Friends episode on my phone and it works very well.
However, there are some other programs that I find it to be slow. E.g. I tried those NES (or some other) emulator that load the games from ROM files (not the ROM of the phone).
Then, I also find that in normal usage, if I were not to softreset the phone once every 2-3 days, the phone will respond VERY slowly. Which, I'm not sure if that's the WM5 problem or the phone.
Anyway, I've done some benchmarking of the Charmer (same processor as Prophet) with the older Magician, and the result shows that the Charmer is a terrible device as compare to Magician in terms of speed.

However, as according to the posts here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=55153&highlight=
It seems that the Chamer has almost twice the duration in terms of battery life as compared to the Magician. So, that is a gain for using slow processor.
It would be good if someone with a Prophet and Wizard to run the same benchmarking. Or someone send me a Wizard to run the benchmark?
Ok, to clarify as I have inadvertantly referenced both the M600 and Jamin. I now have the M600 (same as Jamin) which I run TT on. Also ran TT on my older Jam. Both ran fine and TT startup was actually quicker on my M600 (maybe due to different SD card), but route planning was marginally quicker on the Jam. So far no speed problems with my M600 at all.
Prophet, Charmer and Wizard - since they are all OMAP based devices, can be overclocked using omapclock. I must admit I have not tried running TomTom at the default speed as I installed it since bumping the processor up to 240MHz but as things are it works great.
