Had the phone sim & cid unlocked and flashed from orange to the new htc upgrade but after putting some programs on it decided to go back to standard htc settings.
Do i now need to unlock again (or everytime i reset it) or is it still unlocked?

Have you tried a hard reset or a new rom?
If you mean the simlock: search for a thread on "lokiwiz", that enables you to remove the simlock from your phone and CID unlock your phone so you can flash another ROM on it. If you are talking about the password, do a hard reset or flash a new ROM on it.
I think I'm getting the same problems as the OP. I also bought a MDA off ebay, that's still locked to T-mobile, but I dont have a T-mobile SIM card. So I can't use the "lokiwiz" program because I can't even access the OS. I also cant get my IMEI number for the same reason. So I can't buy a code online. So I'm stuck. I'm also not in the US so I can't borrow my friend's SIM to unlock it or anything like that. Would flashing the MDA to a new rom stop this? I'll appreciate any help, thanks.

Hi, first off, how do you do a hard reset? and I tired new rom but I am not sure if i did it right or not . I have just read the in t-mobile site to perform a hard reset but due to phone lock, i can not hit start and go into settings.. Please help! I know this is not a sim lock. The phone is asking for a 4 digit phone lock password.. any ideas?
For a hard reset you need to hold the comm-button on the upper left corner of the phone and the camera-button on the right side of the phone while it boots up. the esiest way is to do a soft reset and then hold the two buttons till you get the installation screen on your phone.
I think this thread is a bit confusing, since there are two locks being discussed in here right now.
babysheep is having troubles with the password that is set by the previous owner, that can be solved by the hard reset as said by freezor. His advice is a fine way to hard reset, the T-Mobile way has the same results, but is not possible due to the password. Use freezor's method and you should be ok.
Jugges is having simlock problems. Can you contact the seller to ask for the IMEI code? Alternatively, you can perhaps buy a T-Mobile prepaid SIM, although I am not sure that would work. Perhaps prepaid SIMs are also locked from the phone. Flashing a new ROM will NOT affect the SIMlock, so that is no option for you. Perhaps you better post your problem in the lokiwiz thread, perhaps they can help you better than we can here.
I think I should have read into Lokiwiz deeper. I didnt realize that you can still sync with your computer when there is no SIM installed. This allowed me to install the Lokiwiz cab, and unlock it. So everythings working now. Thanks for the help.
Hard Reset
I am also attempting a hard reset; the problem when I do the soft reset while holding the com and picture buttons, the screen that appears is 3 wide horizontal bands colored red, green, and blue. The only text is IPL 1.08, then a little below that is SPL 1.08. Any ideas?

Can you get in to the bootloader?
If you do then you can put an original rom back. If you don't then send it to the service.
An unlocked device is out of warranty so be prepared to pay for the service.
Go to wiki of Artemis there you can find the method to get in to the bootloader.

Noobs beware!
As a number have been flashing their devices with various roms not from their own carrier or country or cooked roms and bricking their device - I put up this sticky. Your device must be cid unlocked first before you do this. This applies to the coming wm6 roms to - if the rom is not specific to your device - i.e. if you try to flash the upcoming htc 3300 wm6 rom on O2 orbit - you must cid unlock first - with imei check or you will end up with a BRICK!

cid = country id i.e. locked to that country/language/vendor

Bricked devices
If you have flashed your device and not cid unlocked it, your device maybe salvagable if you can get it into bootloader mode.
Hold down the voice speed dial button and soft reset - you should then enter bootloader mode 'multicolored' screen'
If you do, attach device to pc via usb cable (a small usb will appear bottom left of screen) and flash factory rom. (run rom executable or RUU updater from pc) You do not need to be activesynced to do this.

Before you flash again with a non-factory rom, your device MUST be cid unlocked.

i had the same problem and took me 3 days to fix it. so maybe this will work for you too !
first take out the battery for 30 min then push the reset button and put the battery back and turn on the device. if this not working. try to start bootloader by pressing and holding the record button and on/off button and push the reset butoon in the same time but keep pressing the record button and on/off button till a colored screen shows up??? sometimes it doesn't appear at the first time so just keep trying .
if you have bootloader you can reflash a rom. but you need to format your memorystick first to fat on your pc then put the image rom (nbh file) and rename it to Arteimg.nbh !! i used OrbitO2UK image.

I recently buy a SPV M600 and this was working fine! When a try unlock that for put a difrent company sim that never start up again! Now the item freeze on first screen, where that show the IPL,SPL,OS and GSM versions!
Anyone have solution for this problem? I try update the rom, for a RUU but the problem still .

I think about it , and the phone are Sim locked and CID locked, is for that reason he freeze?
Is it a G3 device or a G4 device?
The SIM Lock shouldn't cause this, but try taking the SIM out and seeing what happens.

Sim card was always out, because it isn't unlock to put my sim.
Nobody can hep me? I upgrade the rom for the original of orange in same language but the phone continue freezing at start!

Normally, you should SIM unlock before flashing the ROM...

I think i found the problem! I didn't flash the rom before updating and didn't unlock CID. I am thinking now, how to repair the phone now!
So, the phone are sim locked and CID locked, i ll CID unlocking with hardspl, but i ll not can copying the necessery files into pda directory, like this said on "Rom flashing for dummies" on Wiki!! So can i flashing the rom from BootLoader?
The phone is in used condition, but it all functionally becuase i work with that before update the rom and have this problem!

If it's in/can get to bootloader, it should be possible to flash a WM5 NVID ROM. from there, you can HardSPL, SIM unlo ck and then flash a New ROM.

hey guys, slight dilema, one of my friends purchased a Touch HD, but its branded by another carrier, so he purchased and unlock code, BUT when he got his Touch HD, i backed up my Touch HD using SPB Backup, and loaded that back up on his phone, he just got the unlock code alittle while ago and he wants to unlock it to use it with his sim card, so he puts the sim card in, powers up the phone (after we loaded my backup on there) but the screen for the where i enter the unlock code doesnt show up anymore, so not sure what to do guys, please help
try a hard reset (power up the phone while holding both vol up and vol down buttons) with the sim card in (the one you want to unlock to be able to use), enter your unlock code before doing anything else... then try restoring your backup...
Hey my friend have HD2 he got if unlocked from Australia's Telestra from someone if he flashes a rom will he get locked again??
And once while booting we pressed the volume down button to get the bootloader unlocked but when the the phone said all will factory reset and wipe everything will that get it locked to telestra again??
I cancled to unlocked the bootloader and not getting the unlockeing the bootloader screen again...

it wont get locked ...cuz it depends on bootloader...bootloader wont be refalashed during the process
No reflashing the stock ROM or reseting to factory settings will not re sim lock the device. Once a device is sim unlocked it will always be sim unlocked unless you replace the main board with a main board that is still sim locked. The sim lock is part of IPL and is not touched what so ever by flashing a stock Windows Mobile or any other kind of ROM.
