Bricked!
I installed this Omapclock and omapclockplus cab, and soft reset, like the thread said, and ever since then it hangs on the Windows Mobile boot screen, after the IPS/SPL/OS screen. I was using the OEM Cingular ROM.
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
I havent changed anything, other than add this program. It gets really close to booting, sometimes for a split moment finally to today for a mere instant (you hear the battery low tone) then reboots.
HELP!
Update: it gets to today but hangs then reboots... occasionally still get the battery low tone right before reboots. Reboots over and over and over...
Any help appreciated. Do I need to hard reset to factory now?
What did you clock it at?
I didnt clock it at anything, I installed the cab from the device itself, reset, and the result is what I described above
Just hard reset. I wish people knew the meaning of a bricked phone - a bricked phone is one that you can't boot, can't hard reset and can't flash firmware.

And why do you need to post this same thing multiple times? Post it once and we will get to it.

Sorry, just paniced, I've read some horror stories on here.
And I'm still getting to know the specifics of lingo, I thought bricked just meant at present does not work. Didn't know it meant doesnt work and cant fix. Sorry.
I'll try hard reset.
Can either of you (or anyone) tell me why you think it did this? THAT is most important to me. Thanks.

I think, the overclocking was set to its maximum because of it the device froze and the setting was done to overclock it on reboot.
That is why on every reboot your device froze, and restart and that's continous.
So a hard reset would do you work. But always beware b4 you overclock, people found out that 260mhz is stable speed. But i dont recommend it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299989 read this thread you'll come to know some of the problem.
I did exactly the same to my Wizard
A hard reset should get you back up & running. I hope you've backed up your contacts & everything. I hadn't!
I'm no longer using omapclockplus but the BatteryStatus plugin instead. I leave it at the default speed for most of the time but overclock it (with a single touch on the today screen) when using something like Skype that needs the extra oomph.

I'm not sure exactly why it's happening, the last thing i remember doing before this problem occurred was uninstall some programs, and decrease the text size in settings.
But everytime I power on the handset, it will boot up fine. But then the activesync information screen (the one that shows your recent syncronizations) will pop up, and my phone freezes up right there. It's pretty much unavoidable at this point, everytime I reset my phone its the same problem. I'm able to do a soft reset at this point, but that's pretty much it.
If it's any help, one of the programs I removed was pTravelAlarm (Burr oak software) i got rid of that because i was getting a "Cannot execute \Windows\pTAmgr.exe" Notification Error during startup, which now that I mention it, the error still pops up even after i removed it.
Is there anyway to perform a hard reset without having to be in windows, or connected through activesync?
Or am i pretty much boned at this point.
You don't need or want to be connected to Active sync when doing a hard reset!
Hard reset is pressing both soft keys at the same time as poking the stlus in the soft reset hole. This takes device (after some menu screens) back to the way you got it originally.

ah, ok, i was under the impression that the "Reset" key was actually on the screen. yes im a silly newbie . Thanks!

We're all newbies to start with and we're all still newbies with some aspect or other of Hermes or WM5.
Use this thread if you have problems with hard reset.
Mike
I did a hard reset, and its working just fine. Though i do think i'll be updating the ROM, seeing as i've had many problems with the phone freezing up and recycling itself under the OEM ROM. Thanks again

hi guys, this might seem to be posted a lot of times but i havent found anyone who experienced the same problem as me. ive flashed a custom rom (not found in xda dev) and the phone went well for 3 weeks to a month.however, today(lunchtime) i had a problem i soft reset my device and i was stuck at the 2nd splashed screen. i dont think my hermes is bricked because i can do anything a normal hermes do before. (pda function, calls, sms) really no problem at all until today. ive done what the wiki said like
Problem 2: stuck on windows mobile screen
Try to soft reset with stylus and wait 5 minutes on the windows mobile screen to see if OS boots
If all you get is same windows mobile screen, remove the battery for some time (about 20 min should be enough) and put it again.
Again, if all you get is same windows mobile screen do a hard reset.
If doesn't solve the problem do a hard reset, but do not press spacebar to reboot after. Instead, do a soft reset with stylus when the device asks you to press spacebar.
Check if you might have the NO GSM Problem
well i cant go pass the 2nd splash screen so what i did was hard reset it. and problems gone. my concern is ive lost a lot of documents because of what happened. so i just wanna ask you guys what could be the problem and the solution to prevent this from happening again.
much respect to all here!
TIA
What do you do just before the problem occur?
best thing to do is hard reset you phone this will reinstall you OS and resolve the problem. You need to old the 2 top soft key and press the reset but with your stylus. This will then bring then take u into the hard reset mode. follow the prompts on ur screen by using your keyboard .
This will work as i have experienced the same problem
kind regards
Ash
Did u happen to
a) disable the bottom tray
or
b) set PIE cache to storage card?
Both tend to cause this, tho not in every case.

Are you sure you actually hard reset didn't soft reset? Hard resets basically rewrite the o.s. over the old o.s. (holding down the two select buttons labeled "-" and pressing reset). If that still doesn't work, you have something fishy going on, but seeing how it seems to be a software issue, I can't imagine hard resetting wouldn't fix this. If this still doesn't work, try flashing to a new rom.
yes, I did, I had to re-install everything I had. I even need to enter my device ID through registry hack, because I can't access the setting to enter owner's name.

Hmmm, that's kind of strange, but maybe you are using a custom rom? I would try flashing to another rom.
no doug, it's the original T-Mobile ROM, that's why I got confused too. Usually when something bad happens, I hard-reset it and things would go back to normal again. I can only access the setting if I change the battery, and the setting will be accessible again for a couple minutes and unaccessible again after that. Weird huh?

That is def strange. Never heard of something like that. It def sounds like a software issue, but you ruled that out by reflashing the os. odd....
Hello, I just installed Dutty R6 TP and I found it terrific.
I have a question: is it necessary to perform an hard reset after I flashed this rom?
And if this is the case, how can I hard reset my phone?
Thanks!
Someone suggests hardreset before and after flashing (i do it). To hard reset your device: start-settings-system-delete memory (my rom is italian: start-impostazioni-sistema-cancella memoria. i think you are italian too)
you're right, I'm italian too.
However I want to know if there's really an advantage doing so.
I mean, I have installed Dutty R6 TP Canvas with 20 shortcuts, disabled weather and so on but I noticed that when is scroll my finger with manila from home tab to other tabs, it slows down a little. That does'nt happen when I scroll from settings tab to home. It runs smooth and fine.

i don't know if there's really an advantage doing that, but why not to do it? it doesn't take so much time and doesn't damage your device at all.
For your problem in scrolling manila tabs i don't know

A hard reset is necessary because on initial flash, portions of the previous flash can still remain on unused blocks of memory and interfere with the OS.
A hard reset ensures these memory blocks are wiped clean.
To hard reset, just do a soft reset with your stylus, then immediately press Volume up and down at the same time (before device begins to reboot)until a white screen appears, then press Volume up again to confirm and follow the prompts on the screen.
whilst Bruce has a valid point, he correctly uses the words "can still remain" ...whereas it would have been more accurate to say: 99% of the time, there is no reason to hard reset.
however...1% is a lot for some people (imagine u had a 1% chance of winning the lottery!!!) so you can, again, as Bruce said, do a hard reset without any risks...
fyi: i NEVER hard reset...but that's just me

Some devices are more prone to have issues that others.
I started flashing back in the Hermes days and it was always an issue on that device as well as the Kaiser, so I got into the habit of it.
You would see people complaining of bugs, laginess, memory leaks, etc. because they did not do a hard reset.
Now the Raphael was a whole new animal. It needed to be flashed back to stock every few flashes to overwrite these blocks. I cooked and flashed a LOT of ROMs and even hard resets were not enough.
There have been a lot of discussions regarding hard resets and there are definitely 2 different schools of thought, some do/some don't, but in my personal experience, its just as easy to do it and know that any bugs experienced are not a result of your previous flash.
I pressed the I.E to log on here funny enough, when suddenly my hd2 did a master reset by its own accord. A full master reset not a soft reset. How can this be even possible ?. This is crazy doing it by itself. After a while i tried setting up my internet again when it froze. i did a soft reset and now its stuck in load up(blue o2 screen). tried taking battery out and in and several soft resets but same. help.

are you sure you havent tried flashing a custom rom recently?
Thankyou for the fast reply. My hd2 is still basically standard. No roms flashed ever. last thing i downloaded was yesterday which was win office 2010 update on market place. phone has been fine all day.
started working again. i saw that somehow only had 11mb left on device memory. it was 90mb a few hours a go. i started looking into win and what suddenly swallowed my memory when it has self master reset again. Going to call it HAL from now on lol. Im just leaving it on charge at moment.
Just a quick update.. I managed to beat hal to it and do a master reset. Seems to be working ok. Even opera working again. I think it was the app i downloaded from market place. All i can think off.
all the best and good luck
mine is on repair now, got oily thingy on the center of screen...

this is the most unadequate place to post this question, probably it's a case of thread hijacking, anyway those would be games programmed to specifically work on VGA screens, there's no way that I know of to make them work in WVGA, because they just don't know how to
sorry... was browsing through... didn't mean to post hear... but thanks anyway
