in my experience, id just put the device into bootloader, and then soft reset, to put into bootloader press and hold POWER > LIGHT > SOFT RESET button.
if not then back into bootloader and reflash rom from an official o2 rom from o2 website http://www.my-xda.com/ and see if that works.
have you tried a hard reset?? have you done a WM6.0 upgrade and its not gone the way you planned??

If soft reset do not do the trick, then try a hard reset.

ive just got the o2 uk xda orbit yesterday...
install total commander, run it and type extended_rom. you will get all files
By ExtROM damaged, do you mean you can't run the programs in the ExtROM (which normally can be fixed by a hard reset) or the ExtROM does not install after a hard reset?
ExtROM does not run after a hard reset, sorry i should of said that, i think i fubar'd the files up
Are you sure you did a hard reset and not just a soft reset?
A hard reset on these things is, Hold down both option buttons on the front, press the reset button in and out with buttons still pressed down, press the send\call button to accept, is that correct? Because that what i have done...

Recently my pda(k-jam) fell from my pocket and it hanged. I did a soft reset but I get this error message "Press Send to restore factory defaults, Other keys to quit"
I tried all keys but in vain. I then did a hard reset by pressing the comm and the voice dial. (did a reset with my stylus). I still get the above error message.
Does anyone have any suggestion or idea how to reset my pda?

I would like to upgrade to molski but they say I might have to downgrade my rom but I must first unlock the device. There are g3 or g4 device..how do I know what device my k-jam is...g3 or g4? How do I follow up or know?
Could anybody give me the link or solve my problem? As my k-jam just wont pass that screen..I tried looking into various topics but couldnt go about the first step I should be taking...

Hold down the camera button while resetting it. If you can get it to the bootloader (three color screen), you might be able to flash it with something and possibly rescue it. It does, however, sound like you might be screwed. Things break when you drop them, including plastic phones.

Thanks but if I have to do a hard reset, I would already be holding the comm manager and the voice dial with the stylus to reset. Do I hold all the 3 buttons together while hard resetting ?

Hold down the camera button, Power Button and Pin in the hole. First relese the hole, then release the power button and keep holding the Camera button dis will bring the Tri-colour screen. There'll be some info. like IPL n SPL der
If IPL n SPL are like:
IPL 2.xx.xxxx or 1.xx.xxxx
SPL 2.xx.xxx or 1.xx.xxxx then ur device is G4.
if its like:
IPL 2.xx or 1.xx
SPL 2.xx or 1.xx then ur device is G3
if its G4 you need to CID Unlock that before upgrading it.

I tried your steps but it still wouldnt work. But somehow I did the switch below the comm button and it showed me the screen to the somethign HTC innovation or like that.
I think I had to tinker with the switch below the button to get the screen working.Thanks for your help.

mda compact is a "magician", you may already bricked your phone by flashing a 'wizard' ROM into it.
it is not bricked. it does search and then stops

You are very confusing. At the very first post, you just mentioned that it "does not go into factory reset". You need to provide more information, example (not limited to) the ROM that you've flashed, the ROM source, method of flashing the ROM, etc etc etc. There is a limit of patience how many rounds of 'suggest-answer' session I can go through. Try to give as much info as you can. For example, you have not even confirmed with me if your phone is a Magician or a Wizard.
From what it seems, your ROM is way too old. Mine is 2.xx.xx version. So, yours is old. Flash a new *official* ROM and try again.

i thank you what i had was a magician with no service and a wizard with a damaged screen, what i did was swop the screens and unlocked the wizard with locwiz 3 to use my o2 chip now the wizard is fine. but i am in the process of fixing the magician.

have an 02 XDA Orbit (used but new to me) and was trying to hard reset to clear all data/settings - that was on standard 02 Rom Wm5
every time i soft/hard reset it reboots into bootloader mode and i have to do a hard reset again to get back to windows
I flashed a WM6.1 Rom last night thinking that would fix but the device is doing exactly the same thing ... soft reset goes into bootloader mode... any ideas on how to get it just to reboot into wm6 ?

Ok.. upgraded radio to 3.08.90 and it now loads up correctly ... must of needed a reflash to get it working correctly

i flashed wrong Hard Spl in my jamin
and now my jamin didn't turn on without charger
and when i try to make conection with usb it turn off and screen flash for a second and turn off
