I'm using a SoftBank X01HT, with the latest HTC WM5 rom. I've noticed that all incoming calls, even local show a +1 at the beginning... the Canadian country code. When trying to return calls, I've had to add these numbers to my address book and then remove the +1, and then dial. Is there any way to setup the phone so it doesn't show the +1?
Thanks.
Any ideas?
I think you may dial with the +1 but you won't get charged as international call (if you are in the +1 zone). Try a number and see if you get charged.

This is per the GSM standard. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, GSM network operators have to support +CountryCode-AreaCode-Number format, even for local calls. Leave your contacts in this format, then you don't have to make any changes when/if you travel to another country. You will not be charged long distance if it is a local call, even if you use this format.

If you used the search function this has already been addressed, and it is the standard dialling code for the US.
Sorry, I should elaborate. When returning calls that came from +1 (local calls), it refuses to connect until I redial without the +1. This is the correct calling code for both Canada and the US.
edit: I'm on Rogers Pay as You Go, and the provider shows as "UMTS Rogers". I haven't done anything special to make the phone work, I just put my SIM in.

If you are using standard GSM cellular to make your calls rather than VoIP, having +1 at the start of the number should work when you attempt to call. It works for me, I do it every day. I am not using Pay as you Go, but that shouldn't make a difference, I would have thought.

Yes exactly, however using the VoIP component of WM6 the + part of the intl dialling code isnt recognised correctly, this might be the issue possibly if using PTT aswell??

Thanks for that ban I see how it was extremely necessary. Good luck on your future backseat moderating endeavors.
Carrying on: it seems my problem isn't the '1', but the '+'. All incoming calls show a +1, if I dial a number with a 1, it goes through fine, but if I dial a number with +1 it immediately ends the call. I don't think I'm using any voip stuff, as I'm running WM5. Is there any way to strip the + part?

First, Moderation is often "backseat". There are only a few Mods and over 80,000 active members. In any case I don't go looking for problems, I go looking to help people with questions. If I spot something (usually Spam, or moving posts around) or a member makes a request for action then it is dealt with by the Mod or referred to the Admins. In your case it was a bit of both. In your case it was nothing to do with your posts, but the method of signing on.
Well before you get banned again perhaps you'd like to explain to the rest of us who like to know at least a little about the person we are speaking to, why this is a good idea:
http://www.bugmenot.com/
At a time when we are cautious about who comes and goes on this site (following our "situation" with M$) it does not help to know that you could in fact be 1 of several hundred using the name bugmenot. It also seems so utterly pointless since you are not required to publically display any info you do not wish to - so why not register the way you are supposed to?
Since everyones IP address is logged anyway I cannot see this being a privacy thing just an I can't be bothered registering thing!!
It might surprise you to know that many folks here are proud to be members and proud to have a unique identity. Your questions seem very reasonable as do the posts you make - at least so far as we know you to be one person and not one of many logging in using your sign-in details. I tried signing in the other day with one of the bugmenot passwords and yes I got on. It does not take much imagination to realise why we cannot allow open names/passwords to persist - but I would be interested to hear your side.
Mike
Why would I get banned again?
Bugmenot is a good solution for people who don't feel like juggling around hundreds of internet identities on various forums. With the Firefox extension, I can visit any website, and when prompted to login I just right click and choose to login with a public account. On here, I needed an account to search the forums and download attachments. When I needed to post a thread, I decided against making a new account since I was already cookied and able to post anyway.
By backseat moderating, I was not referring to an instance of someone reporting a post against forum rules or any legitimate reason where a moderator would be needed. I was referring to Applestar order to close the account and encouragement to limit posting ability for new accounts. I did read the forum rules before posting, and nowhere was it mentioned that account sharing or using public accounts is against any rules.
"Newbie" posts are a genuine concern on every forum, but limiting posting ability to new accounts is a horrible solution that will only delay people from post spamming or making stupid threads. A better solution is to simply make as much information available to people without requiring them to register an account. This site is a shining example of that; the wiki is full of an enormous amount of information, links to resources, and is easily searchable. A good improvement to the forums would be to enable searching and file attachment downloads for non members. If someone has come here to get a few files and to find a bit of information on their phone, forcing them to register an account is only encouraging them to post and to be a member of this community. And this being a developer community, is there really any need to encourage the types of people who came for files to have accounts?
Your Microsoft concern is completely invalid. I'd be embarrassed for Microsoft if they thought using a public account was a good method if infiltrating a community like this. They likely have people watching over these forums, and I can guarantee you they're not here on a public account or with any sort of Microsoft related name/profile.
You're right: it's absolutely an "I can't be bothered registering" thing. But in addition to that, I have nothing to contribute here. I wouldn't want to fall into the category of the hundreds of users you already have who have hundreds of posts all consisting of "thanks" or really ridiculous questions that were answered already.
Well, some good points IMHO. However the general principal is the subject of Admin consideration. I am not entirely convinced the "public account" idea is a good one given that not everyone is as sensible as you - yes if everyone were users of common sense I believe it could work well for the reasons you give, but open account information that becomes commonly known on the net could encourage the "lunatic fringe" to post brainless rubbish.
So I will take the Pontius Pilate approach- since it's Easter and start washing my hands! (Guess which part you get!)

But maybe there is a simple solution to all of this and i have taken this suggestion to the admin.. But i think maybe we should see about granting bugmenot an account that does not have posting rights. Then people can use that account to download files. If people want support then they should register their own account... sounds simple enough to me

An interesting proposal. It would mean this particular "bugmenot" would have to register properly though cos he/she likes to make posts.

So, going back to the thread topic. Any ideas? I'm still unable to return any incoming calls because of the plus (+) symbol in front of the numbers. Is anyone else here on Rogers pay as you go? Do incoming calls show a "+" for anyone else?

It may be the standard but they don't HAVE to support it unfortunately - Softbank in Japan does not support +country code dialing and I believe there are a couple other networks in Taiwan or Korea that are the same. Pisses me off too because I have to make separate addressbook entries for when I'm inside Japan and outside Japan.
Anyone know of any utility that can automatically add or remove digits when dialing? The Nokia 6681 smartphone had a number prefix feature that worked really well.
You should request that they strip these digits.

If your telecom provider doesn't support it then they should strip these digits. I am a Central Office Tech and this does not take a genius to remove preceding digits. So call them up and question their technical abilities! WHAT!!!

DESCRIPTION
This tool allows you to communicate mobile devices using your GPS and SMS messsages with no internet connection. You will be able to know how far is another phone/target and what direction you need to follow to reach it
Imagine the scenario... you are hiking with some friends in 2 different groups and later during that day you guys want to meet. How do you do that if you got a poor reception and you don't have an internet connection?
This is what happened to me a few days ago. I got signal only for a few seconds and when I tried to make a phone call it was dropped after a while because the quality was very bad.
This program allows you to add targets. You can request the position of these targets by sending a sms message.
If your PDA cannot send the message it will keep retrying every minute.
Once the other end gets the message, CatchMe will start the GPS automatically, get a fix and send a message back to the person who made the request. Again, if there are problems sending the message CatchMe will keep trying until success.
After getting the position of the target, you can start tracking and CatchMe will tell you how far your target is and what direction you need to follow.
OTHER FEATURES
- You can only receive requests from phones that have been added to your list. If you get a request from an unknown phone, the message will be discarded.
- You can also associate your current position to a target. This is useful if you want to mark a checkpoint to come back later. No SMS messages are sent at this point.
- In order to use this with another person, both persons need to run this program!
- You don't need to be tracking when using the program. You only need to do that when you are following a target.
- Auto Start and Stealth modes available
Notes
If you plan to test the program using only one phone, don't click on 'dismiss' when getting your own SMS message until CatchMe has processed the message, otherwise the message will be deleted before the program can access to it.

Please leave your comments, suggestions and ideas here.
Have fun!

I just uploaded a new version that also gives you the the estimated time left to reach the target. It also shows kilometers/miles when the distance gets bigger.
Hi Staryon,
thanks for this new software! That's a really good idea. I wish I had today, because a friend of mine could not find us at the beach .
I eagerly look forward when most of my friend have a winmo phone. This tool is just perfect.

I mean to have a version of CatchMe that can run from phones that are not running Windows Mobile.
At this moment you can still request a position from a device running CatchMe from any phone just by sending the sms catchme|0
Some more information about how CatchMe works...
When CatchMe receives an SMS will check if the incoming number (for example +336abcdefghi )
CONTAINS any number that you have in the target list. For that reason, CatchMe will find the target if you have 06abcdefghi, abcdefghi or any other combination in the list. The reason is done this way is to avoid conflicts with prefixes.
On the other hand, when the program tries to send an SMS it will dial exactly what you see in the target list.

In the very last version (0.2.2.4), CatchMe refuses numbers with an international prefix. As incoming SMS messages appear with the international prefix on my phone, and as the local number is not contained within the interational number, I have no way to specify a correct phone number in the target list.
i.e.
Incoming SMS messages appear as +336abcdefghi
Local number is 06abcdefghi (notice that 06abcdefghi is not contained within +336abcdefghi because of the 0)
If I try to add +336abcdefghi (which would be correct, I can send SMS messages to these numbers with the Windows GUI), CatchMe refuses. If I add 06abcdefghi, CatchMe doesn't recognize incoming requests because of the +33. And if I add abcdefghi, CatchMe sends the messages to a non-existent number, because the 0 is missing.
In my case, as with all other French users, the only way to have it work is to allow people to enter an international phone number. I don't see why this is a problem anyway and I see no valid reason for CatchMe to refuse this.
Regards
Bertrand
well done man can't wait to try it out, i was very impressed with your track me, i hope this is as good as ur previous release on track me
PS: (does this support singapore numbers? or is it limited to some countries?)
As you just said the number that you use to dial is always different from the incoming number because of that extra digit.
Even if I allow to enter a number with the country code like +336abcdefghi
it wouldn't work because when CatchMe dials that number it wouldn't contain that required 0 that you need in France.
The only way to fix this is to write a specific rule for French numbers. If I detect that the incoming numbers starts with +33, I should add a 0 after that and then the matching will work.
I'm not sure if there are other countries with this problem as well.

Bonjour Staryon,
Thanks a lot for this new software.
The problem is always existing with french number.
In fact the rule is the following :
Il we use the international number : +336abcdefgh it doesn't contained the 0 number. and when we receive the SMS from a french phone, it is identified in Catchme with : +336... without o number.
When we (may) use the national number we use : 06abcdefgh.
In my case, I have entered all my phone numbers in an international number (+336abcdefgh) due to the fact if I am located abroad I can use directly the number phone for calling.
Are there other people from france to confirm ?
Hi erays,
With the latest update French numbers should work ok.
Basically you just need to enter your phones (targets) with this format: 06abcdefgh
By the way, international phones won't work. The library that I use to send sms messages doesn't work with those. So you can only use this program inside your country.
This sounds like a very interesting application.
However after entering a valid TARGET (completely numeric) I can't send my position without receiving an error "Config, You cannot sned a request to a target that is not numeric".
I've even deleted the original datestamp entry and still get the error.
I'm using a Touch HD - any ideas ?

You're right. I just found a bug. Just download the program again and the problem should be fixed.
Thanks, the TARGET error is resolved.
I'll give it a test over the wkend...
great job, hope the new version Supports with map, such as googlemaps or others.
can u please explain further more.
I have a kaiser and my brother has the 5800 Nokia(which has GPS).
So if i send the msg to his number, it will reply with his exact location on my garmin?
So its obligatory for the other number to have GPS.
One more question, If both phones have GPS. Isnt there a way if both parties activate their GPS, they could track each other? Using both GPS as tracking devices?
Hi Staryon,
I tested your app right now, by sending an SMS to myself.
- I entered my number (0151blablabla)
- Click on the "Sent SMS" icon
- CatchMe says that's it's sending the request, with a second appearing short after "Request sent correctly"
- I then receive a kind of flash SMS titled "Message from Network: catchme|0
You said in the first post not to dismiss it, so I waited, but nothing happens. Am I missing something? Is it a problem like the French numbers?
Numbers in Germany are similar, wihtin the country you have to type in 0151... (for example). International prerix will be +49151...
How does the SMS one receives shall look like btw? . Is the SMS "Message from network" a bug or something?
After CatchMe analysed it, what shall happen? The Phone sends a SMS to answer the request? Is this transparent, i.e. does one sees it (confirmation etc.).
Sorry many questions but it's really a cool soft .
Greets.
I finally found a good one. Its phone fusion visual voicemail.

Heres how to install:
1. go here to register:
https://one.phonefusion.com/signup.php
click on the residential tab.
2. Get the app here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/274146939/PF_VMPLUS_Windows_Current.cab.html
(this is free but difficult to find, at least it was for me.)
3. Install the cab to the sdcard (not to the internal memory. voicemails will eat up space.)
4. open the Phonefusion app and go to option>settings>Activate FVM+
5. Give it a few seconds and let it do its thing and then it should work.
Well, it's not free anymore. =/

This is not a Visual Voicemail Application as much as a service + Website. The Website that would display the Voicemail messages does not load correctly on my Wizard with TNT (19199.1.0.0).
YouMail although a good solution for some does not meet the needs of those looking for an app.
Yeah I found a coupon code on Retail Me Not to make the Individual plan free (Phone Fusion at Retail Me Not). However, the fact remains, that it's a service much like (read: exactly like) Google Voice and not an app (only).
Try this link http://www.fusionvoicemailplus.com/. I signed up for a free account although i havent fully tested it on the app myself.
Hope this helps.
These look interesting. I'm using mVisualVoicemail (http://www.motionapps.com/product/mvisualvoicemail/) which of course requires your voicemail to be forwarded to an email account first. If you can't do that, this program is useless.
Is there any way in WM6.1 or WM6.5 to make all the Voicemail notifications and links launch a program instead of dialing voicemail? Ever since I started using visual voicemail, I've come to notice how often I get notifications and convenient links to dial my voicemail, and I just wish I could set it to launch mVisualVoicemail instead.
Clearing up confusion
I dont know about you guys but just to clarify:
PhoneFusion is free. PhoneFusion uses an app. PhoneFusion did not assign me a new number. PhoneFusion has, as best I can tell, just replaced my Tmo voicemail.
I signed up online with no money given or agreed to. I downloaded the app given a link that was forwarded by text when I signed up. The app is just like a carrier's vvm except it loads a little slower. It loads your contacts automatically at every start, which is the small slow part.
Ive had youmail before on my old Blackberry (don't stone me) and although there are apps for some phones, it is no better or worse than Phonefusion besides the subcscriber login page online... which I would think we would never want to use day to day anyway.
All in all I can give PF a recommend. Check it out. The cool part (believe me with all the crap i went through to get youmail to work) is that you just push ACTIVATE and it changes all your settings to forward your calls.
****Sprint users.... trust me stay away. Your screwed on VVM. YouMail costed me 30 a month bc sprint charges for every forwarded call.
I think i'll stick with youmail. Hopefully they'll come up with a windows mobile app for this.
Sprint users can use PhoneFusion without charge. You just have to call up and ask for call forwarding on no answer which is free. Regular call forwarding "unconditional call forwarding" costs you $0.20 per call.
When I called up they told me it would cost $0.20, I told them it should not, only unconditional does, and they went back and told me I was correct.
I'm using PhoneFusion as above today and it seems to be pretty decent and the app works well. Whether I will miss the easy click and you're in voicemail with tf3d, I'm not sure yet
I'm a TP2 user...
Do you find that the 'new voicemail' icon appears at the top of the screen (indicating there's a new message waiting) when using Phone Fusion? (I'm not getting that, though it works otherwise). I'm on TMO USA (but I would have thought this was independent of carrier)
-Steve
PS Apologies - posted same question on another thread last week, but got no reply - thought this might be a thread where I could find someone using PF VVM...
Well, I thought I would share my experiences with this app. I was wanting to get some VVM on my Tilt2, so I downloaded this app based upon this thread. Once I realized it was implementing some call forwarding, I kinda put the brakes on finishing the install.
Then I started having people report there was an odd disconnect error instead of going to my voicemail. Seems it partially setup the call forwarding, but since I did not completely install it it wrecked my regualr voicemail.
Anyway, I think I have it sorted out. I had to go intot he setup again, and 'Disable' the VVM. Now, when installing there was a clear warning about deactivating the service prior to any installation, but since I never completely installed I thought I was safe.
Be carefull. - Kevin

Hey Kev...you know you can go into "phone" under personal settings, and change your forwarding settings from there? It just reads your current settings from the network, and lets you change and update them from your phone...you can check there to make sure they all got put back the way they should

Call phones from Gmail
Wednesday, August 25, 2010 | 9:40 AM

Gmail voice and video chat makes it easy to stay in touch with friends and family using your computer’s microphone and speakers. But until now, this required both people to be at their computers, signed into Gmail at the same time. Given that most of us don’t spend all day in front of our computers, we thought, “wouldn’t it be nice if you could call people directly on their phones?”
Starting today, you can call any phone right from Gmail.
Calls to the U.S. and Canada will be free for at least the rest of the year and calls to other countries will be billed at our very low rates. We worked hard to make these rates really cheap (see comparison table) with calls to the U.K., France, Germany, China, Japan—and many more countries—for as little as $0.02 per minute.
Dialing a phone number works just like a normal phone. Just click “Call phone” at the top of your chat list and dial a number or enter a contact’s name.

We’ve been testing this feature internally and have found it to be useful in a lot of situations, ranging from making a quick call to a restaurant to placing a call when you’re in an area with bad reception.
If you have a Google Voice phone number, calls made from Gmail will display this number as the outbound caller ID. And if you decide to, you can receive calls made to this number right inside Gmail (see instructions).
We’re rolling out this feature to U.S. based Gmail users over the next few days, so you’ll be ready to get started once “Call Phones” shows up in your chat list (you will need to install the voice and video plug-in if you haven’t already). If you’re using Google Apps for your school or business, then you won’t see it quite yet. We’re working on making this available more broadly - so stay tuned!

Amazing!
Now, the question is: how to make these VOIP calls from the Nexus One over Wi-fi?!
Goodbye Skype, RIP
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the google voice app works over wifi and 3g.
Voip on android phone is now within our grasp MUHAHAHAHA!!!
Add SIP and Canadian local numbers/signups and this will be great. I'd use the 3cx soft phone app and be happy.

It doesn't do that now?
I guess I'm kinda confused, I've been in the Google Voice beta for some time now, well since I got my Nexus one back in March.
Google Voice isn't in beta anymore and anyone can sign up for free... Doesn't this already provide us with VOIP using the Google Voice Application on the Market?

No, though you are correct that it already works on wifi and 3g, i believe he was talking about a VOIP application from Google that can work on both of those. Currently GV is NOT a voip service,ll it is is a fancy forwarder (a very useful forwarder) it still takes minutes to call people. We are hoping that they will eventually convert it into a voip client like the gmail client just did explained in the article.
GV VOIP on the Android headset would change the whole telephone industry. I'd imagine big companies have been worrying about this for a while. Data rates would have to be seriously reconsidered. Unlimited data in the US, if a GV VOIP integration was made, would explode. This is why Verizon has locked down the Skype app to their voice network.
The last I read before this release was that Google was trying to nail down the mic/speaker driver interactions with the browser itself. They had almost abandoned the project. That's where those fancy Chrome/Mozilla plugins come in. With CM's mod, I tried visiting gmail with desktop as the user agent, but without those plugins it's useless.

Hey guys,
Not really a Nexus question, but the dialer locks up my system when I try to make a call from it. Is the dialer a java program that isn't playing nice with my Vista system?
Any advice on how to fix this?

This has been rolled out to me (in Canada) and it works great!
Same here. Just need SIP and Canadian numbers now lol

sure, well part of it, if you are out in the middle of no where and only hada wifi (no carrier signal) you could still send/ recieve google voice txts, but you would not recieve any calls since the calls are still routed through your carrier since GV is not a voip service, just a VERY fancy (and useful) call forwarder.
Looks like there's some confusion as to what Google Voice is versus what Gmail Calling is.
Google Voice is absolutely nothing but a call forwarding service. The instant that the call connects (ie you the other person's phone ringing), you are 100% using your cell phone carrier's signal and 0 data. Zero. None. Zilch. No VOIP whatsoever. Google Voice simply connects you to the other person, that's it. You're still using your cell phone's minutes.
The only data is the initial 3 seconds between the instant you hit Call and the instant the other person's phone starts ringing. It uses data to connect the call through Google Voice's servers. So sure, that 3 seconds before the call connects can use 3G or Wifi.
Gmail Calling on the other hand, is 100% VOIP. You call through your PC, using your DSL connection, Cable, Satellite, Starbucks Wifi, 56K modem, etc. 100% data. It uses 0 cell phone minutes, because obviously your PC has no idea what cell phone carrier you have, or if you even have a phone at all.
Google Voice and Gmail Calling = two completely different products.
Now, my question is:
How do we get Gmail Calling (VOIP) on the Nexus One?

Good explanation, I cant imagine why it is taking google so long to get VOIP going, Gizmo5 had it all up and working it should only be minor changes. This leads me to believe there is something more going on like the carriers would revolt against google if every android phone only needed a data plan. Honestly the entire carrier industry would be turned on its head if google goes VOIP.

Make it happen, Google!
BTW, I think we now know why Verizon negotiated that deal with Google.

That may be part of it, but I cant imagine the FCC EVER allowing that deal to go through. Have you even read it?! Its totally BS. The FCC has to have some line drawn in the sand that says "this point an no farther". There needs to be a shift in the way the internet is treated.

No, that was a rumor started by somebody who has been banned multiple times because hes a scammer. (afaik).
What do M$ say to you when you ring them?
If they say to ask your carrier just say that you've been on phone to them multiple times and they keep sending you to M$, others have said that and got key.
First time they asked for an IMEI number. the second time, then they asked for a phone number and when I gave them mine, they told me to contact M$ in my country...
and these calls cost A LOT for me...
Just send them an email and they will give it to you

If you can't call them in your own country call the US support through skype - it's free. A code generator would be warez, and therefor not allowed on xda. Microsoft made a release vaguely saying that they don't really care and will continue giving away free codes.
Tried e-mail 3 times with 3 different e-mails. they didn't gave me a code. I guess I'm out of luck or just stupid...
I sent another email now without making up lots of stories and now they want my phone number, device, and name. What should i answer?(I told them I have hd7)
Its Easy
Hi Guys,
I did my HD2 yesterday and have another one to do once i get another class 6 memory card. I telephoned the German MS support number and after explaining that i was english and couldnt reach the english support number (so could she speak english?) explained that both myself and my girlfriend have just bought HD7's, the damn things wouldnt work without a key for live services and that the sales assistant mentioned nothing of this.
I offered to give both telephone numbers and asked if the one key code would work for both, she replied that she didnt need any telephone details from me as it doesnt matter and that she would have to give me 2 codes as one wouldnt work for both units. she then asked me for my name (i told her my name was fred something or other) and she then asked for an email address (i gave a fresh one i made for the pourpose without my details) A couple of minutes later she had generated both keys and gave them to me over the telephone.
She was really nice and well mannered and the whole thing was a breeze.
Really guys believe me when i say M$ do not give a damn about what handset you have. Its not like they are losing anything by giving out the keys, if anything they are creating potential marketplace shoppers.
I have an HD7 also and upon comparison the only difference i can see is camera quality, the function and feel is identical.
Best of luck to all those still trying,
Creamy
you must be silly if you don't try the skype method and give up!!
- uses your wifi or 3g internet (so its practically free)
- calls are very clear (even clearer than a normal mobile call)
- masks your location (support guy only ask me if canada or us)
- no queue time
- call completed in less than 5 minutes
i called at CST 9am and only tried once
they did not ask for my phone number or imei, just full name and live id
writing down the 25 digit code can be a pain in the arse though if the support guy has a foreign accent (no racism intended), you will need to make sure you wrote it down correctly by repeating back to him, then thank him nicely and disconnect from Skype, enjoy your HD 7 phone
*HTC has a lot of free useful apps in the marketplace, I would suggest grabbing them asap after activation
i try chat chat service..they keep telling me contact HTC or sales office..i try few time even the proxy..finally..i get my code via the online email support @ microsoft website~~no nd phone number either ..wat i said is jus
"QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS
Message: Hi..can i request a new activation code for my HTC HD7?
thankz a lot.."
then the jus give me the code like tat~~waste a lot of time on the online chat~

Thats pretty much standard. I didn't lie to them. I gave them my name, email address and telephone number.
so should I give her my real name and phone and country even thought its not a US or UK number??
EDIT:done that...I hope i didnt make a mistake by telling her that i'm not from the us and my real phone number...
I contacted ms and they quickly reply with this:

Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Microsoft regarding your issue.
Kindly be advised that you have reached Microsoft Customer Support for the Middle East. Kindly contact the Microsoft Support in your country by visiting the below link and select your country:
Yes, here is yet another guide to obtaining a WP7/8 activation code from Microsoft... with an added advantage!
I have helped a handful of people from around the world on XDA to obtain codes successfully using the chat URL below and using a genuine HTC HD7 IMEI code created with my IMEI generator tool. With the advantage of a genuine IMEI code Microsoft have no reason to say no!
prerequisites:
You have a Windows Live account (you will need this for Windows Phone anyway)
You have downloaded my IMEI generator from here (mirror), run it, and hit generate for your code!
You have an ice cold beer to hand for celebratory purposes
1.) Log on to Microsoft Live Chat here. Click on 'Chat' and log in with your Live ID
2.) You will be asked for a few details before an agent connects and starts to chat including phone model. As far as Microsoft are concerned, you own a HTC HD7 and can't access the Marketplace or use emails. I recommend not being too 'tech-savvy' to aid your case as the helpless (Microsoft) customer and remember, you ARE the customer and they are there to help you
3.) Soon an agent will respond and They will ask you for a few more details such as network operator and for the IMEI code of the handset. Make sure you have the IMEI from my generator to hand. See the conversation from when I activated my first Windows Phone below for reference. This was also using a code made by my generator
4.) Crack that beer open as the Microsoft agent replies with your Windows Phone Activation Code
Here is the chat conversation from when I obtained my code. I play Emeth, a helpless, innocent customer, devastated by my second-hand HD7 which will not let me use Live Services. I am being attended to by the very helpful 'Bill G' at Microsoft:
