Hi, I've planned to by the new XDAII i (in Belgium the Qtek 2020).
Does anybody can tell me if it is OK with a bluetooth car Kit? With the XDAII normal, I have a lot a Bleutooth problems that I hadn't with the Mini.
Thanks for your answers.
I've had no issues with the BT on XDA2i, other than my old headset wouldn't work with it - something i've now discovered was probably more to do with the headset than the phone.
All other aspects of BT work a dream.
Cheers
Ant
PS - XDA2i uses a Widcomm (now Broadcom) BT stack, not the MS one as used on the 2.
Still can't get my XDaIIi to send files via BT to my laptop! I tried it with my old XDA 2 and it works a treat........
Someone please help, i don't know how many times i've posted this topic
First time buyer of GPS unit and I need help choosing the right one. Thanks.
Btw, has to work in the UK.
I wouldn't dare say flawless , but the last 2 times i went to GB i didnt experience any problems with my current GPS receiver which is the
Rikaline Bluetooth GPS receiver 6033
this model is generally 20-30euros more expensive than the standard ones but it uses an advanced chipset to even get fixes in buildings and tunnels and can maintain more connections at once.
Manufacturers Site
Cheap one from www.mobilefun.co.uk
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8590.htm
£40! and works a treat.
Probably not as good as the Rikaline or the Holux 236 which is by far the best i've tried but for they are nearly double the price
Even uses the same kind of charger as the Wizard so effectively you get a free in-car charger for you PPC thrown in.
I successfully use a generic Nemerix based GPS mouse from adapt. You can find these rather cheap GPS device in many varities (lots of OEM manufacturers) on eBay.
In conjunction with TT5.2 it works like a charm.
Any suggestions for a good light GPS to fasten in the helmet. I have plans to track my routes during mountainbike tours.
GPS...
What a topic...
I have spent some time investigating the options for me...
I am a newbie on the PPC front and I am after my first GPS set up too...
OK everyone points at TomTom as the best option...is this so?
Any feedback will be greatly received and if I do go for it, I will probably go for their bundle...
For those running TTN5 on thier Wizards, please advise the speed and any issues...many thanks...

TomTom is also my #1 for road navigation.
What are the best choices for free-time navigation? Some candidates:
Pathaway, http://www.pathaway.com/pathaway3wm.htm, WM5 compatible?
OziExplorer, http://www.oziexplorer.com/
cant fault the holux 236
Nemerix
Hi,
I am using this GPS mouse (NEMERIX V3.0 Ultra Low Power Chipset). Simple installation, simple use, long battery life, cute size - my favourite!
U can get it e.g. here:

Im using a BT77 Bluetooth GPS. It provides a really great signal even inside, however I have had problems with the wizard, in that I have to drop and then re-partner the device in bluetooth, everytime I want to use it, but Im currently thinking its the MS Bluetooth stack at fault and not the Device, anyone have a similar experience ?
Hi,
I already have the tomtom wired gps receiver which i use with my ipaq 2210. I know the receiver connector wont fit onto my wizard but is there any kind of adapter that will change it from ipaq to wizard (min usb i think).
cheers

Afraid not. Wired receivers will not work on Wizard/K-Jam etc.. full stop. you need to get a BT GPS receiver.
I picked a cheap one up from www.mobilefun.co.uk for £40 and works a treat. 5 fixes even in car glove box
The Tomtom Bt Gps is the easiest one to connect to the wizard, other brands u may need to set comm ports in Tomtom navigator.
So far I tested Holux SIRF3, Tomtom MK2, Leadtek sirf3, all were working fine.
my Tomtom MKIII works perfectly with Wiz.
I'm using a BT880 picked up on ebay (new) for £30.
Works fine with my qtek (imate rom) and tomtom5.
I want to upgrade from my XDA2 to either an XDA Orbit or XDA Mini S. I'm erring towards the Orbit but have a number of questions:
I have read reviews stating that the phone quality on the Mini is poor, can anyone corroborate this or know if the Orbit performs better as a phone?
What happens when using the Orbit for Sat Nav and there is an incoming call? Presumably I'd be able to take the call (hands free / bluetooth of course) but the device stops giving verbal instructions on directions?
Does anyone know of a car kit that charges the phone in addition to speaker etc? - Am I right in thinking that bluetooth headsets don't strictly adhere to letter of the law?
I already have a Navman Sat Nav & not entirely happy with it - it doesn't re-route well. I have read a couple of articles stating that Tom Tom 6 software can be installed on the Orbit & enables you to avoid a particular road/route - is that so / is it any good?. I don't know much about Co-Pilot, but I'm guessing that it's just software alternative to the likes of tom tom?
How reliable if the Orbit operating system? My XDA2 was a bit of a pain at first (re-setting weekly) but seems to have settled down. Either that or I've just got use to it!
Help with any of the above would be much appreciated!

I can awnser a couple of you questions - i had just got a new mini s because my last qtek wizard is so good - dont get it the screen is now v dull and colors poorly rendered - i checked 2 devices. I think htc have changed the screen/backlight on it. Orbits screen is brighter and clearer than my qtek 9100.
As for the radio call quality - i feel mini s is marginally better but not alot in it. The orbit is a superb device - v light and slim too. Seems v stable with no resetting as yet.
Have not tested gps side yet but hope that helps.
p.s. speaker quality and volume is better in the mini s because of stereo speakers but the orbit seems loud enough.

I have a Globalsat 308 bluetooth GPS unit

There was a reg hack for this, you will need to search the early threads on this subject. I'm sure I have this at home (am at work at the mo) will check later.
Mav
PS. the reg hack just opened the BT channel for sound.
